Originally I gave this company one star. I was not happy with the fact that they do not "replace" dripper lines, they just run new ones and leave the old one wherever they are. I have not been the easiest person to deal with and they have continued to come back and fix other issues that keep popping up. Their customer service has been outstanding. I had to call, Controlled Rain out for the third time on a different problem in my irrigation system. Since they had done such a great job previously. Robert came out, was very polite and professional, explaining what they would need to do as I was a bit leery about them pulling up pavers in my front yard. They came out today January 29 and did the job they said they would do. I no longer have a leak and the pavers went back in just as nicely as they were to begin with. We have two properties - our primary residence and a rental property. Controlled Rain delivered exceptional service twice in the span of two days for both of our properties. Over time - plastic parts in irrigation system valves break down. You notice that one of your zones is no longer receiving water. Well - this happened in 117 degree heat in Phoenix this week! I called around to other sprinkler repair companies that we've used before (which I also recommend) and they were booked into next week. Controlled Rain was also busy - but they told me they would do everything they could to get to us this week. Turns out - they delivered next day service! They fixed issues at my primary residence and my rental property faster than other companies could get to me, and their price was more than reasonable. I paid just over $100 at each property to get the systems working good-as-new, and that is often just the base-fee with other companies I've used. The Verdict: Excellent Service, Totally Fair Price. All the way from the nice lady that called me back promptly and the repairman that showed-up so quickly (the day I made the appointment!)....and with a mask....were wonderful. I am terrible with names. He replaced the board to the sprinkler within 20 minutes and the unit is working as good as new. It was $150 for everything. I will need new irrigation lines put in (will do when cooler) and I will be hiring this company to do it. read more

I was referred to Controlled Rain by a colleague. I had a leak right off and I thought under my patio, which my patio area used to be part of my lawn. I had dug down a little bit and thought the water lines must have not been capped or it sprung a leak. You can imagine my horror to think the water line for the drip would have to be rerouted AROUND the patio. Josh came out to assess the situation and gave me a quote. $85 for a service call fee. YIKES! Well, I figured I better bite the bullet so as not to waste more water. They came a few day later to do the repair. GOOD NEWS! The drip line for the trees and bushes had a line right new to the patio. They merely had to find it and cap it! (Makes me wish I had dug a little deeper!!) Oh, well. That was good news, that is for sure. I would definitely recommend and/or use Controlled Rain again. A very professional and I found trustworthy company. read more

I had an issue with my drip system and contacted Controlled Rain, which I have used several times over the last 10 years (installation of a new drip system, landscape lighting, etc.). Josh was scheduled to come to my home this afternoon (11/2/2020) and he arrived exactly as promised. I explained the issue to him and he immediately diagnosed the problem as a malfunctioning Timer (circuit board). Josh patiently explained exactly what was causing the system's problem and fully answered all of the many questions I asked him. He installed a new Timer, ran some operational tests and reprogrammed the unit. My drip system is now working perfectly. Controlled Rain is an exceptional company, professional in every respect and a pleasure to do business with. On my last repair call Ken finally told me, that while he appreciated the business, my system was really not worth patching. He gave me an estimate to replace the system and we set a date. Called Controlled Rain because of a large wet spot in the front yard. The technician arrived on time (actually - he called and came a little early which was fine with us). He carefully reviewed our situation, both in front and in back. His conclusion? There was no leak and everything is fine The wet spot is dew plus normal soil moisture, plus the fact that this area is in shade almost all of the time. To sum up, no work needed to be done, but we got a lot of piece of mind from the thorough review. All this for no charge since this was a free evaluation. So, why this review? We have used Controlled Rain for a couple of different irrigation problems. Most recently we had an irrigation line that was leaking underneath pavers that ran beside the driveway, the Controlled Rain tech removed the pavers, repaired the line, repacked the paver base and reinstalled the pavers - all of this at a very reasonable price. That same visit the tech inspected the rest of the irrigation system and replaced sprinkler heads and adjusted the settings as needed. The techs have always been helpful in explaining ways to perform replacements and repairs on my own in order to save on service fees and costs. Highly recommended. read more

Called at 7:15am, received a call back at 7:55am. 5 Minutes before they are scheduled to open. Sent out Josh the same day to take a look at a leaking valve in the back yard. Was very honest, and said to do a couple of things and will return to fix on Wednesday. Not an issue since the water was able to be turned off. Was going to replace the pipes connecting the valves (3 valves). Estimate was $110, with $10 off for the Angie's list coupon. When Josh returned on Wednesday (at 9am, the scheduled time) and went to go to work. 5 minutes later Josh tells me the valves were simply loose. Was really cool and just said how would anyone know when its under water. After talking about if we should move forward with pipe replacement, based on his suggestion it wasn't really needed. After he tighten all the valves, and checked for leaks, said he was going to do an evaluation of the whole yard. He checked all heads, coverage and anything pertaining to the sprinklers. Not only did he do all that, he set the timer, and made a couple of adjustments. After all this (about 30 minutes worth of work), wrote a check for $45. Only charged me to re-wire the valves and the the yard evaluation. Would use these guys again and again. Great service, and extreme honest and fair. read more
