From the moment we arrived until the time we left, everything was perfect. The staff was helpful, smiling and friendly. The owners both were on top of everything, filling up water glasses, clearing dishes and all. They greeted each table to see how the customers were enjoying their evening. What a find! Went in around 3 pm and realized the dinner menu did not start until 4. Not a problem, they let us order anything on the menu . The spicy shrimp pasta and grilled salmon were really really good. It was happy hour so drinks were $3. One of our favorite places for brunch, lunch, and dinner! Chicken and waffles are THE best! We always love the nice tots.

To start with, this restaurant is fairly new and clean looking. The design and decor of the place seemed a little weird to me but maybe they were just trying to create something different. My wife and I were there for lunch and were seated in the back bar area. We both had the small pizzas. I had a combo and my wife had a margarita pizza. We thought they were better than any pizza we had ever had in the Minden/Gardnerville area. On another visit I tried the spicy pizza after asking the waitress if it was really spicy and she said no. It turned out to be way too spicy for me... won't order that again. Looking forward to trying the place out for dinner and try some of the other items on the menu. read more

Happy overall. Some of the previous comments were reviewed prior to arrival and they seemed to concur. Good food. So-so atmosphere. I had the fried chicken and was quite satisfied. Raviolis had a sauce that was too bold and overpowered the entree. Pizza was good. The decor is basic. Hang some pictures / move in some tables and chairs / turn on tv's and the fireplace / open the door. Obviously the investment goes much deeper with a full bar and a kitchen that had to cost some $. Went there on Sunday for half off pizza, took about 15 mins for the bartender to ask if we would like a drink (while sitting at the bar), Ordered a pizza, another 45 mins to get the pizza, which was cold, Another 30 mins for the bartender to ask if we would like another drink. Only 4 people at the bar the whole time were were there. Long story short, 3 hours later decided to walk out and all off a sudden we got attention. Paid the bill and left (left a $15 tip, I'm not a jerk). This is the 4th time I have tried to give this place a chance, Never again! read more

Place has taken a step backwards unfortunately they can't seem to get the orders right items missing from to go and the quality of cooking has gone down. I understand mistakes can happen but multiple times is unacceptable and if your paying the price they are charging for the item on the menu the quality better match the prices. If there was a lower rating I'd give it. No one at front desk then a kid who had the personality of a rock sat us. Shabby surroundings. Doors open to storeroom and kitchen in full view of seating. Took 10-12 minutes for waitstaff to come over. Ordered soup and salad to start then 2 minutes later entree came out. Clearly requested to split entree, it was served on one plate and shoved on to table right on top of soup and salad by rock boy. Had to request an extra plate. Waitress with terrible people skills - didn't check back on us til we were almost done. Dry chicken, gummy pasta. Very disappointed. Won't return. Save your money and skip this place ! read more

Our first visit was in October 2019 for a leisurely hamburger before going to a concert across the street at CVI. We told the hostess, bartender, and waitress about our schedule. Plenty of time was the consensus. We were seated at the bar next to the wall and the waitress kept knockng my purse off the chair as she squeezed by multiple times. We waited almost an hour for burger and fries in a mildly full restaurant! My husband became anxious about being late for the concert so early into "date night," relaxation was replaced with anxiety. Funny how the bartender's solution was to SELL us more drinks. The burgers were absolutely delicious, but not enought time to enjoy them. The waitress brought out boxes and packed them up for us and dropped half of one on the floor. They offered cook another one for us, but we thought the concert would be over before it was served! Our next visit was early March with another couple and discoverd Cook'd is masquarading as a high end restaurant by using low end tricks. We ordered the flank steak and artichoke chicken. The SALAD was warmer than our food! Here's the reason, your plates are cold when you plate! Restaurant 101, buddy. Also one teaspoon of salad dressing and artichoke sauce does not suffice; you are being cheap. Need more proof? My chicken was tough because IT WAS FROZEN not fresh. Garlic homemade pasta? Tasteless carbs with butter cut with oil and missing the gentle sprinkle of spices. Flank steak? No, lank steak. What did you tell the butcher, "I need a close shave."? But your green beans and fries were delicious... not the first thing on our desired list of entrees. Here is an idea, stop buying from SYSCO and fluffing up their tired products with tiny bits of flavor. Final tip, move the hostess desk up closer to the door. You will not have a crowded waiting area with this type of cooking. Cook'd Schmooked, we won't book. read more

My wife and I went for the first time and would definitely recommend. There were several options for seating and ambience. Quite an extensive menu and drink selections. We dined at Cook'd last night for my "?" birthday. Had the best time with friends and Kerry as our server. We concur with post from Jess M. -- Kerry is awesome! Now to the rest of the story.... I ordered the artichoke chicken....not terrific, a bit overdone, and would have liked a bit more 'sauce' on the pasta. My husband ordered the Shrimp Scampi (which he had on our first visit) -- as with the first time, the sauce is terrific, unfortunately the shrimp are too scarce! Only about 5-6 small shrimp -- a few more shrimp on the Scampi, please... We do plan on giving it one more chance, however three strikes you're out. read more

Ordered the wedge salad which for $14 I thought would be loaded with bacon, tomatoes, etc. The bleu cheese dressing was good,,, but it had only 3 cherry tomatoes sliced in half and less than a rasher of bacon, crumbled.... for $14!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not know how the food tasted, husband and I went on a Saturday and got there about 435pm we were seated and given water. 10 min later still no waitress but another couple were seated across from us. Waitress finally came got our order and immediately got the other people order. At 5pm the other table received their food and the waitress talked to them for about 10 minutes, we figured she went to get our order I finally had enough after it was 517pm and no food so we left unhappy I was looking forward to the food but being ignored and waiting over 40 minutes is unacceptable. I went for the first time and right from walking in, it was so nice! It is very welcoming and the workers are so kind. The food was amazing. I came with a couple people and we all loved our meals! I had a burger and it was delicious! We had fried ravs for an appetizer and they were amazing! Overall this place is great and I highly recommend! read more

The main dish was good, nothing spectacular but a good burger and good fries. I would recommend it as good place to eat in Gardnerville. Service was good at the beginning but didn't end very strong. Dinner came out within a reasonable amount of time. However, I would not recommend the desserts. I ordered the tiramisu...it was NOT a tiramisu. It was a bowl of vanilla pudding on top of some raw lady finger cookies with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Not to mention it didn't come out until after the check was brought to me. I can understand the kitchen getting backed up but there should be separate stations for app's, entree's and desserts and if it's just gonna be a bowl of pudding it shouldn't take 15-20 minutes to make it. My advice to the restaurant, if dessert isn't your strong suit buy it pre-made from someone else or at the very least don't say it's something when it very clearly is not. read more

We wanted to liked Cook'd. We really did. But twice now they have greatly disappointed. Both times it was very difficult to get a drink at the bar - and they weren't even busy. The bartenders seemed annoyed with us and tried to ignore us for as long as they could. The first time we tried the restaurant, the food was great but three out of four of us got food poisoning. I understand this can happen, but we called the owner and told him about it to which he barely responded a cold "sorry". Fast forward about a year and we wanted to give them a try again. Same problem with the bar, and when we said we would like to have a drink first and then eat in the restaurant area, we were given a battle trying to convince us to eat in the bar. The restaurant are was EMPTY. Once that problem was finally solved, we ordered a second round of drinks and there was hardly any alcohol in them. We asked the bartender how much is poured for each drink to which he replied "a shot and a quarter". No way. For an $8.00 drink we expect to at least taste some whisky in it. After being given some attitude about how this is the way the owner wants the place run, we told him we weren't going to stay and we left. Again, I really wanted to like this place but I'm not sure I've ever felt more unwelcome in a restaurant. read more

I went there 3 weeks ago during a football game to take advantage of discounted pizza during the game- placed my order and got a beer- played some slots and watched the game- an hour later I noticed people at a table getting their pizza- they had been there 20 minutes- flagged down the bartender as he never came by to check on me at all- told him- I've been waiting over an hour for the pizza I ordered- he went to his computer- start typing in- I asked if he was re-ordering- he never even told me this- he said yes, I said forget it as I was not going to wait another 20 minutes- I wrote the owners and never heard back from them at all- so, I guess they don't care- bartenders are not trained very well at all- service is so bad- won't be going back there ever again!!! read more

I was trying to talk to one of my buddies that I ran into at the bar before we had dinner, and I could not even have a conversation with him. We asked 3 different people 3 times and it was never addressed ! Everything else was really good, except some of the food was cold when it came to the table...but I get that, because we ordered so many different items. We had a local party of 10 people. We tried 5 different pizzas: Meat lovers, Combo, Margarita,BBQ Chicken, & The Mahalo, Calamari for appetizers, House salads,Cesar salads, The OG burger, Chicken Alfredo, Chicken Parm, & the Artichoke Chicken Pasta, and everything was very tasty. The service was impeccable. In fact the service was so outstanding, that I tipped the waitress an extra $20 on top of the tip, because she was on top of it the entire time we were there. read more

My family was visiting the Tahoe area this week. We were having a difficult time finding places to eat because of COVID. We went to this place as almost a last resort and so lucky for us that we did. They were very accommodating even though we were a party of 7 and we had a baby. The food was very good and the staff was even better. Waited over 1 hour for our food. A party that sat after us had ate and left before we got our dinner! When it made it to the table my hamburger was cooked to well done, not medium rare, and the bun was soaked with oil and not eatable. Three other meals had to go back because they were warm, and two people didn't even get their meal. And this is where I get mad. We asked three times to speak to the owners and they would not address us and our issues. One of our party went and found them and she started to ask them why they were not addressing the issue and they told her that she needed to leave! The same lady that raved to the group how good the food was and brought our group in! No comps on the poor food except the two that didn't get any. Our group will NEVER go back! read more

Would not come here for anything except for a salad. The small lunch salad and dressing was good. The portobello mushroom appetizer was good but not worth $10. The spaghetti sauce is nothing to rave about. The sandwiches are pretty lousy looking with regular bread and one slice of weird packaged turkey when we were expecting fresh slices of real turkey breast or maybe something thinly sliced from a deli but that is not what we got, and one slice of cheese. When you order a soup and 1/2 sandwich special ($15), you should be able to get a half a sandwich of your choice and you don't. The choice was a turkey melt or a grilled cheese sandwich. It came with a free dessert that was not even on the menu, which was an 1/8 of a piece of cinnamon roll with whip cream, which is not dessert. That is a breakfast item. Prices are way over the top for the presentation and flavor of the food and we won't be coming back. read more

I'll start by saying this: if your waitress' name is Ashley, you're in good hands. If not, don't even waste your time because frankly, everyone else sucks. I've been to Cook'd about 8 times now. Never, and I mean never, have I had a good meal. The ONLY reason I keep coming back is because I adore both Ashleys. I reside in Carson City and frequent Minden, so I was excited for this cool new place to come to town. Even better thinking that it would be a twin of Capisce up at the lake (soooo good). But I'm beyond disappointed every time. The staff is mostly horrible, they don't know the menu, my food is ALWAYS messed up, they are ALWAYS out of several items on the menu, the apps are always cold and typically come out with my dinner, their banana pudding is BOMB and they've been out of bananas 4 of the 8 times I've been there. My friend ordered a vodka soda and it was flat. When we told the bartender, he stated he "didn't know how to fix it" and walked away. No one in the restaurant knew how to fix it and offered to call Brian (the owner) to ask him. Don't even get me started on Lasagna or whatever the owner's fiancee's name is. She's wretched and her attitude alone is one of the main reasons my friends and I will never come back. She should just leave the restaurant biz up to Brian, he's much more welcoming. I used to walk to the Millers' (owner's fam) restaurant in Carson City back in the day. They're such a sweet family and Lisa is beyond talented.. if you've ever had one of her cinnamon rolls, you know what I mean! Brian should take a page out of his parents' book. Cook'd has great potential and can do very well in Minden, but it's not there yet. In the meantime, I'll just make the drive up to Capisce for their consistently incredible food and service. read more

Was not impressed. In Minden on vacation and this was the 1st restaurant we went to. It took 25 minutes for our waitress to bring us our waters, only after our food was served! And when she brought our water, she also brought an alcoholic drink that looked like water and sat it down in front of our 7 year old...who took a sip. This drink looked exactly like water and there was nothing showing it was alcoholic I.e. a straw or bigger glass. Same as water. Food was decent but i wouldn't recommend going if you are in a hurry. read more

Came here with 11 people on Mother's Day. The waitress was awesome. But the food absolutely sucked half of our party was done eating by the time we got the other half fed and when it did come out it was nothing like described. My turkey sandwich had literally one small slice of turkey and one jalapeño after an hour and a half wait. Atmosphere is great and the wait staff was great but probably will not be back here for the food.
