Been to this location about 3x now. Food is always pretty good. However, I was not pleased with our last trip in earlier this week. The woman who took our order was busy clipping her nails as she listened to me place my order. She waited until she finished with a nail to then enter it in. Sorry, but that's nasty & I feel sure it violates some health code. To top it off, my husband's burger wasn't correctly prepared even tho she repeated it back to us. She'd actually rung it in wrong so we paid for both cheese & tomato that he didn't want. We'll return b/c it's not too far for us to drive & we like CO. But I sure hope the owner reads this & has a chat with the staff about appropriate behavior in front of customers. If she's doing that out front where we can see her, what might she also be doing in the kitchen? read more

I'm giving two stars because normally the service is decent at this location. Not phenomenal but my food is always fresh so I typically don't care how the service is when I'm coming late after work! Tonight was a different story though. The woman who took our order was disgustingly rude starting at the speaker all the way up to window service. At the speaker she cut us off in the middle of ordering accusing us of not stating we wanted a tray. No big deal, I've worked a drive through so I understand it's hard to hear. The line was also insane so again, I understand frustration. The reason I'm leaving this review at all is because at the window when we requested to have our drink handed to us before pulling off (she seemed like she was about to forget which wasn't a problem, we just wanted the drink) she snapped and EXTREMELY rudely said "are you gonna give me a chance to hand it to you first". Honestly I don't care how frustrated you are. At no point were myself or boyfriend rude to warrant this woman copping an attitude to that extent. Nobody forced you to work late night shifts. Don't take your frustration out on customers who are being perfectly nice to you. I sincerely hope this location can find drive through employees who can handle their attitudes better in high volume situations. I don't expect much from fast food drive throughs as far service but this was out of line completely. I just got off work myself and don't want to be snapped at over some fast food, it's never that serious. read more

The fast food darling of the Carolinas is now available in Atlanta OTP! This is their second location in Metro Atlanta after arriving in East Atlanta Village about a year ago. For the uninitiated, Cook-Out has a devoted and ever growing following in the specialty fast food market that is beginning to rival that of long time chains like In-N-Out and Whataburger. They focus on foods "Cooked Outdoors" and thus the delightful charcoal grilled flavor on their signature burgers and hot dogs combined with the light and fluffy battered corn dogs and hushpuppies. Cook-Out made a name for themselves early on for two things: late night hours and super cheap pricing. They are available from 11am until 3am everyday, with extended hours on Friday and Saturday than can go as late as 5am. The most cost effective way to eat at a Cook-Out is the "Cook-Out Tray" (or a combo meal anywhere else). You pick a main or two, couple sides, and a beverage. The unique thing about Cook-Out is that you can really pick anything you want in the tray and the price rarely strays above $5. The charcoal grill marks on the hot dogs make them a favorite, but finding a better corn dog would be hard to do. The BLTs are also a slice of heaven, with more than a couple slices of bacon! And those hushpuppies... wow. Order up a dozen of those perfectly fried and almost grease free slices of heaven. Of course they wouldn't be from Carolina if they didn't offer Cheerwine from the fountain. This regional cherry soda is clean,refreshing, and perfect alone or in a float. What burger joint meal would be complete without a shake? Well, the gang at Cook-Out has you covered with over 30 different variants on the cold, creamy concoction, some of which feature Southern fruit and cobbler varieties you won't find anywhere else. The Alpharetta location is the only location with okra!!! I usually order the 1/4 Hamburger tray dressed according to mood with a side of okra and onion rings. Once you get a burger, add onion rings to the burger...yummo. Delicious. I rarely get a milk shake, but when I do I go for banana pudding. Made with real bananas and nilla wafers. The food quality and price make The Cookout an affordable go to for fast food. If you love okra like I do, you know that okra at fast food joint is great option. I look for alternative to fries because of my issues with potatoes. The Cookout is great family location where good food is affordable. read more

This is not a fancy place, they are a little slow, but for the price and taste, it is really quite good. And open late too. How can it possibly get better? So a friend of mine told me about this place and said it was great... Phenomenal... Amazing... Orgasmic! He is a bit of an over-exaggerater so I thought i should try it for myself. I walk in and the inside decoration is fake cabin, I figured I can get into this. The smell of the grill is very prevalent in the dinning area but not overpowering. Ordered from the cookout tray menu and got a double cheese bacon burger with a quesadilla, corndog, large drink and a Reese cup milkshake. I was able to build my own burger a la five guys, and I was very impressed with the options! So after ordering such a large meal I was expecting to be blown away by the price... Then the cashier hit me with it..... $9.50. I stopped and questioned (internally of course) I hope he got it all, but I slid him my card and went on my Merry way. He gave me two receipts one with my amount and one itemized with my "number". When my order was ready they called my number and I showed the receipt for verification. The food was very very good! Pipping hot and fresh! Not at all a fake grilled taste like Burger King! Corndog slightly sweet but so savory! Great meal! Great price! I would/plan on coming back in the future! read more

I've never experienced "cook out" before but it was open REALLY late, and that was what I was looking for after a long flight. I've definitely had better. The Chicken sandwich I ordered was .. lacking. Flavor. Moisture. Everything. The fries were terrible. I actually ended up with two orders - and both were night and day. One over done to the point of not being able to be eaten. The other limp, lacking any real cook and totally bland. The cheese sticks hit the spot. So, that at least kept me going until morning. read more

I've heard good things about Cook-Out from friends in North Carolina, and I was excited to see that one was opening up near my office. Unfortunately for me it was a let down. I ordered a 1/4 lb Cheeseburger, fried okra, and a vanilla shake. My 12 year old ordered a chicken quesadilla, fries, onion rings and a chocolate shake. First off, don't be fooled. They do not serve shakes here, but rather soft serve in a large cup. It was just way WAY too thick. I'd say it was about 3x thicker than a frosty from Wendy's, no exaggeration. Not sure if this is typical, but you'll need to eat it with a spoon since a straw is useless. If that's your jam, then great...you'll love these "shakes". I asked for them to thin mine out and it was still too thick for a straw. Oh well. The burger was OK, nothing to write home about. Probably a little overcooked to my liking. I'd say it's a notch below Five Guys. Still better than a typical fast food burger though. My son ate two bites of the quesadilla and left it alone. Said it had a weird taste. I tried it and thought it was OK, maybe a little spicy and smokey. Just be warned that a kid with picky tastes may not be a fan of these quesadilla's. Lastly, they are not winning any environmental awards. Everything is served in styrofoam containers, and the trash bin was overflowing with styrofoam. I guess they're channeling McDonald's from the 80's. I'm no tree-huger, but it was a little much. On the positive side, it's cheap and they serve the food very quickly...and that seems to be against the trend these days. However from a food perspective, it was a mediocre experience. My fiancé loves this place but I can't stand it. Every time we have been together mine has not been good. Soggy onion rings and cold hush puppies. I also got the chicken sandwich....also not very good. It's super cheap so that's awesome, but you get what you pay for. read more

This is a new fast food chain that is coming south! The prices are cheap, and it's fast food. There are a few decent items on here. For a decent price you can get a pretty good combo depending on your choices. I have only been here once. I don't think I will come too often but if I need a quick bite, I would try it again. I had a spicy chicken sandwich. The sandwich was good but the fries and chicken nuggets were okay. Worth a try to experience once? read more

Cookout has had my business for years. First, in Charlotte, NC when I lived there for college. And, now here. I have never had any issues with CO. My orders have always been correct & exactly what I asked for. I have only been to this location twice (the second being this past Wednesday night). For a Wednesday night they were pretty crowded. The lady at the front counter was very nice, and when I asked a question that she didn't know, she asked. I love it when people ask questions, instead of getting the "I don't know" response. My order was exactly how I ordered it, and my party had no issues. I ordered a regular cheeseburger with fries with a regular drink , and the other person in my party ordered 2 corn dogs and a huge drink, and it only costed $10. And then I ordered an Oreo shake, which was delicious. The restaurant was very clean. And staff was actively cleaning the entire time we were there. They do have a tendency to sometimes be on the slower side. And the CO sauce didn't have a lot of flavor. read more

I've eaten at Cook Out many times and it is decent food. Their burgers are good, not a go-to for me, but you can customize the toppings. I especially enjoy the fact that you can have fried okra as a side and even double it, if you want. I look forward to the Summer when they offer a watermelon shake and I can select a strawberry ice cream base for it! The combination is by far my favorite thing on the menu! Their tea has been good on every visit and not too many places offer Cheerwine! Overall, they provide quick and easy food. The two things I highly dislike are that they use Styrofoam packaging for the drive-thru and their Cajun seasoning tastes like it is just seasoned salt. read more

The service at this particular Cook Out is just about the worst service I've seen. It seems like this location is always understaffed. The last three times I've been here, it has been a minimum of 30 minute wait up to an hour in the drive thru. The few workers that are here are polite and trying their best. The food is fresh and shakes are always great. Go to another location if possible. read more

How hard is your job? You listen to a person, punch about 10 buttons, take money and make change. If I say no slaw, take the 2 seconds to push the no slaw button and then MAYBE I would support giving the fast food service industry a livable wage. read more

Update 02/04/21: I always end up giving this place another chance, largely because I work nights and they're one of few places around that are open late. I went through the drive through tonight around 11pm and placed my order. The girl working at the window started repeating it back to me, and then her radio cut out and just crackled. She tried to say something else, more crackling. I couldn't hear anything she was saying, but given that I had placed my order, told her that that would be all, and believed she had repeated it back to me, I thought I was good to pull forward. At this point, there's one car at the window and only one in line behind me. The drive through is set up so that you can't go anywhere but forward once you're past the speaker. So, the car at the window gets their food and pulls away and the girl at the register hangs her head out of the window and aggressively puts one finger up (like "wait") and yelled out, "I didn't tell you to pull forward yet!" I said, "I'm sorry, your radio was cutting out. I couldn't hear you." I didn't have anywhere I could go, I couldn't go back to the menu/speaker bc there was another car there, so I pulled up to the window. She comes to the window huffing saying she never told me to pull forward and she JUST told me to wait before coming to the window...Uh, why? I can't get out of line without going past the window, there are no cars ahead of me, and my order is next. What is the difference between me waiting at the window or waiting one car length back? She full on yelled at me and kept going off about not telling me to pull forward. Then she tells me to pull ahead and wait at the curb for my food (again, I'm one of two customers and the other one hadn't even finished ordering yet), I start to go, and she yells, "Um, you can pay first!" I back up and pay and she's just stomping around, being unnecessarily rude to me, then (at the window, right after running my card, since there was never any actual reason for me to pull forward and wait at the curb other than spite) she practically throws my food and card at me. I have never in my life been treated so poorly by any employee of any business, much less for such a ridiculous reason. There is just no excuse for that. And there were other employees standing right next to her, one of which appeared to be a manager, that watched this transpire and did not say a word to me nor address her behavior. I was honestly shell-shocked. I will NEVER go back to this restaurant! I'd rather go hungry. If you can't find employees that are fit to deal with the public, your business isn't fit to serve the public. read more

First time trying this place out. Not bad. Not bad at all. It looks like a typical fast-food joint with the setup, including a drive through window and front counter. However, what sets this place apart from your typical fast-food restaurant is the taste. Not sure what's going on in the kitchen, but my burger--they call it a Big Double--had a smoky smell and taste. It was definitely tasty. I would prefer they not wrap it in aluminum foil because it crinkles the bun. It reminds me of those burgers I used to get at family cookouts. I'm not sure if it was cheese sauce on my burger or very melted cheese. I like my cheese in slices on my burgers. I also like to see the slices. Verdict: a welcomed change from your McDonald's, Burger King or Wendy's. I would suggest you go here if you want great tasting food for cheap. But for better quality you're going to have to spend the extra money to pay for places, such as Yeah! Burger, Shake Shack, etc. read more

If I could give negative stars I would!!! Honestly this is the worst cookout to go to!!! Lastnight me and my boyfriend ordered 2 trays we got the same things both big double burger with everything on it chicken honey mustard wrap he got fries and I got hush puppies... I also ordered 2 cook out style hot dogs. we get back home after driving 20-30 minutes and the burgers were dry they was no sauce on it no pickles or onions it was just a very dry cheeseburger. The chicken honey mustard wrap didn't have any honey mustard on it. The cook out style dogs have chili on them. The chili is disgusting. Honestly I would never go back here and I don't recommend it to anybody. They need to get a health inspector or a food critic. read more

This new location is right by my office and offers a lot of variety such as chicken tenders, quesadillas, and burgers. I've been to Cook Out twice and while the food isn't really healthy, it's tasty! The employees ALWAYS smile and thank you for coming, and it's very clean and tidy. I'll be going back for sure. read more
