My 1/4lb burger was very good that I got with the tray deal. Reading someone else's review a day later, I wish I would have added one or two of my onion rings to my burger. This same reviewer mentioned that this location has okra. I didn't see that on the menu last night but surely would have got that. I did enjoy my onion rings and chili as my two sides though. Like a greasy spoon restaurant, there fast and convenient. The employees always seem friendly when I comme in or go through drive thru . The restaurant itself has always been neat and clean. Employees seem to knowledgeable about the menu. I was loving there chili dogs, but they can be a hit or miss. The onion ring are good also. New to the area but a Cookout regular where I used to live. Came here twice and we're 0-2. First time it took forever, they got the order wrong, and the food was cold. Thinking everyone has an off night, I try it again. This time it was fast, however, part of the order was wrong and not only was it barely room temp, the bun was so stale it bordered on comical. If that's not bad enough, the burger was dry and hard- if I had to guess- I'd say it had sat and then was tossed back on the grill to warm it. Though since Cook Out has opened, I'm thinking that a lot of the Varsity's business has gone here instead. Most tables are designed as pic-nic tables, reminiscent of being at someone's backyard cook out. In the middle and along the western side the restaurant are tables big enough to seat a big group. Coupled with 2-seaters and smaller size tables for maybe four. They also are open from 11:00 until 3 am on weekday nights, with Friday and Saturday staying open late until 4am. Wowwie, at least there's other options of late night dining if your getting out some where late and are tired of waffle house and taco bell. [Service]: Since this is a fast food joint, order at the counter and pick up there too. Though each visit, every employee has been kind and helpful as for answering any questions. [Food Highlights]: Out West Style burger - I ordered this for my cook out tray, though the cost of making it a "style" and cheese up'd the cost. But still kept it around $6. I honestly didn't taste much of the BBQ sauce, but the bacon was cooked crispy just how I like. It's not going to be on a top 10 burger of Atlanta, but I would say this has way better tasting patties than McDonalds. For a fast food burger, this is the go to spot for me. Mexi Hot Dog - Another visit, and I chose these for my cook out tray selections. The chili was ok, not anything to write home about. Maybe on par with Wendy's. Though I hope that it isn't made in the same manner. The cheese is of the melted condiment kind. But I think what over powered most of the toppings were the tomatoes. They really piled it on. As for the hot dog it self, just a regular hot dog. Maybe better than QT's? Hush Puppies - Side items. I wasn't feeling fries the first stop here, and the cashier recommended them. I'm glad she did. These are so good. I don't care if it's pre made, their that good for a fast food joint. Cajun Chicken Wrap - A piece of chicken tender strip wrapped in a tortilla with some lettuce. Though the cajun flavor was probably better than the ranch and honey mustard. It's not spicy, but just a slight little baby kick. Reminds me of the KFC version, but better. Corn Dog - The usual frozen kind of variety. Though it's not bad, but it's just meh altogether. Cheerwine fountain - All I can say wooooo, gimme some more! I used to be a big fan of Cook Out. In fact, a week ago I would've given this place 3-4 stars. They used to be bad about getting my order right (would give me other people's food), but that improved. They have earned the 1 star for simply awful customer service. I went there at 11pm with my husband and know that it has a...youthful...vibe, especially in the summer. Tonight was no different, except that there was a large group that included a gentleman with no shoes on. I don't know about you, but I don't really think being barefoot is safe, sanitary, or socially acceptable outside of your home, the pool, or the beach. Don't get me wrong, I love sandals and being barefoot in the summer, but I wouldn't do it in a greasy, sticky, fast food joint. So, I told an employee, who told me I should talk to the young man myself (uh, no). I told him to get a manager. When she came out, she said "No one told me we aren't allowed to do that." Really? What happened to common sense? Does someone have to tell you to pee in the toilet, not on the floor? Wtf. I suggested that it might be a bad idea for the restaurant given the dangers of slipping, dropping hot food, and/or a lawsuit from one of the above happening and I was met with a blank stare. We left. Never to return. Alas Cook Out. I guess I imagine that the QC control might be a bit off here since it's fast food, I can totally see why some might give it a 2 and some might give it a 5 star - we hit this on a pretty good time, I imagine, as yes it's fast food but A) it's pretty picnic like décor, clean, better than "fast food" decor B) our food came out quick, hot, tasty and C) it's CHEAP. Like, cheaper than McDonalds Cheap. Matter of fact, I really don't know too many places in Alpharetta you can eat cheaper than this. Don't expect this to knock your socks off, if you are in for fast food, this is going to do you better than say McDonalds or Burger King in taste and pocket. My four stars is a "for what it is, this is better than average" rating. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and it was tasty, accompanied it with the bacon wrap and French fries and sat indoors. The chicken breast was a little small but with the bacon wrap and fries I left filled up and not wanting more, AND for two people with a shake our bill was 12$. The shakes are about $2.79 and are really, really thick - think Wendy's frosty, so grab your spoon on the way to your seat. As well you can get any side for just 99 cents. Its amazing!!! For me I decided to order the cookout tray with fried okra, chicken quesadilla, and bbq chicken and a bottle of water The okra was a little bit too oily but it was tasty. The quesadilla didn't have that much stuffing in it but what was in it was very good. The chicken was juicy and tender in bbq sauce in a hamburger bun. And all of this was just $5.34 ( this total is with the tax on it)!!! This was my first time to this restaurant and I loved the food except for the oil. While today was my first visit to the Cook Out in Alpharetta, it was not my first visit to the chain. Although I don't love the restaurant, they consistently meet their goal of providing cheap food quick, and for that, I have to commend them. By far one of, if not the best value in all of fast food, is the $5 Cookout tray. Including your choice of entree, two sides, and a drink for $5, the meal really is unbeatable. Not to mention, these aren't your normal fast food sides either! You can get things like a chicken quesadillas, fried okra, a corn dog, and a bacon wrap among many other options, and not pay a single penny more. The price is still just $5. Plus, if you're not feeling a soda for your drink, you're able to swap it out for a float or water, or pay $1 more and upgrade to one of Cook Out's 39 different milkshakes. Having only had their burgers before, on this particular visit, I was craving something new, so went with the BBQ sandwich, and for my sides, I chose the chicken nuggets and chicken quesadilla. The sandwich itself was very good. Carolina style barbecue pork, topped with house made coleslaw on a soft bun, I could easily see myself getting this again in the future. Their sides however left much to be desired. The cheese inside the quesadilla was barely melted, and there was one tiny piece of chicken inside. The nuggets were okay, but their luke warm temperature didn't make them very enjoyable to eat. Service was okay, although I believe the cashier working was new, as I noticed guests had to repeat their orders several times, and the manager had to come over to help her numerous times while I was in line. The restaurant itself had a nice western theme to it that helped differentiate itself from many other fast food places, although could have been a bit cleaner. There was trash around the soda machine area that was just laying there, as well as some scattered litter on the floor of the dining room. Overall, this Cook Out met my expectations for the brand of a cheap fast meal, and while I will not be returning to this particular location again in the future, I will continue to visit the brand. read more

We both got slaw and - glory of glories! - fried okra. Nearly as soon as we sat, our order was ready. I have nothing but great things to say - the dogs were yum, with soft fresh buns. My little burger had a good flavor and the prices are excellent. I only had the one single burger so I can't really give a proper review but for now, I'll just say it's good. I will be back and try a few more menu items and see if we can bump it up to a four. The patty on the single was very small and the onion slice was way too thick, that's why the 3 but I have hope that I be pleased my next visit. However, there is one specific woman who works the front counter... she as the biggest attitude problem I've seen in food service. I've never mentioned it to her nor gave signs that it bothers me yet it seems worse every time I eat in store. On top of that tables are almost always dirty, today there was only one table to sit at and even by the time we had finished eating the rest of the tables were still dirty. Horrible experience for really no reason. Came in with a groups of friends for dinner, about 12 of us in total. We all ordered at the same time, but for some reason I got my food 10 mins later than everyone else. Upon receiving my food, it was wrong. I took my food to the lady at the register and she said she would have to see my receipt to prove my food was wrong. What??? Why? You don't believe me? So I checked the receipt and she put down the wrong food, not at all what I said. So when I showed her the receipt, she said the food was as was stated on the receipt. I said the receipt was not what I ordered. After all this I had to wait 10 more minutes just to get the nuggets that was missing from my meal. We ordered inside. We waited 5 minutes for someone to come to the register and another 15 minutes to receive our order. The burgers were burned and hard. There was no ketchup or napkins. I went back to the register to try to get some but no one bothered to come out. If the burger had been decent and the delay was due to staffing shortages, I would be understanding but you could hear everyone joking around in the back.
