I was honestly very surprised as the Cook-Out here has a very non-chain feel to it, which is a point in their favor! The best thing about Cook-Out is their low price. The quality of the food is about what you'd expect from your non-McDonald's fast-food joint. It's no Five Guys but they make a good burger and tasty fries. The first Cook-Out I ever went to several years ago. I like that this place stays open late when everything else on this side of town has been closed for hours and it couldn't be any cheaper. Cook Out satisfies all my late night cravings! They have both savory and sweet options and a pretty big menu for milkshake flavors and sides. I always order their tray, which is about a $5-6 meal that comes with 1 entree, 2 sides, and a drink. My go-to is the Cajun chicken sandwich, which is seasoned well and comes with lettuce for a bit of a crunch, the chicken quesadilla, which is always super hot and cheesy, and onion rings, which have just the right amount of crispness and flavor to onion ratio. My favorite milkshake to get there is a combined version of Oreo caramel cheesecake. SO GOOD! It has bits of cookie and cheesecake crust and swirls of caramel mixed into a super thick and gooey consistency. I've never been able to drink it with a straw because of how thick and rich the milkshake is. They also have amazing jalapeño cheese poppers and French fries, of which they give a generous amount. Their hot sauce, ketchup, mustard, and honey mustard sauces are free. I love how late they open because I can always get it when I crave it at odd hours of the night. And the workers are always so friendly and patient whenever I stop by on my visits to Blacksburg. Wish there were more closer to where I live! read more

So do you know how a there's different ways a cheeseburger can taste? There's a big difference between a restaurant, a quick fast food place (McDonalds, Wendy's) and an outdoor barbecue. For the forth of july I was very disappointed that I would be stuck in Blacksburg with none of my friends but decided to get a hotdog and hamburger regardless, and boy did Cook Out not only have what I was looking for but they nailed it. I love it! If you wanna eat good ole fill-you-up but terrible-for-you food then this is THE place. I usually get a tray with a burger, two chicken wraps and a milkshake. I think Ive tried basically all of the milkshakes and my favorite has got to be Oreo-mint. You can also customize all of your items, so I could get a BBQ burger or ranch/cajun chicken wraps, things like that so don't be scared to explore the menu. went to the cookout drive-thru a the Ramsey St. Fayetteville NC branch and went to the window and gave them my Amex card. The lady working the window told me that they don't take Amex. I could not believe that a large chain store like this would not take Amex. I ended up handing her the bag of food back because I did not have another card to pay for it with. Great, cheap food with a good service. They're mochas are a little sweet, but if you ask them to limit the syrup they will. The real star of the show here is the milkshakes! I got a strawberry milk shake and it actually has pieces of real fresh strawberries, the same with the peach milkshake. I eat at cookout a lot. Probably at least once a week (I know...). The food isn't the highest quality, but it is good and the price is better. They accommodate me when I ask for my burger with no bun. I don't understand all these bad reviews. The presentation and accuracy of the order varies wildly with whoever is making it. I've had a lot of thought go into my orders (choosing lettuce big enough to wrap around the burger) and I've had a lot of stupidity, too. Just make sure to check your order before you leave. TIP: if you order "double fries" as your two sides for the tray, they WILL only give you one order of fries unless you point this out. read more

Great food and good prices. The tray proportions can be a bit deceiving and their menu is confusing at times - a $.99 dog or burger can easily turn into a $3 purchase depending what you add and when you say "everything" they often don't tell you some toppings cost money (tomatoes for example). I got a tray with hush puppies and nuggets and they gave me 3 nuggets and 4 hush puppies wtf? A quesadilla costs $2.99 but it's a side item in a tray that comes with another side, a drink and an entree for only about $2 more. The menu pricing seems disproportional sometimes. Both times I've gotten coffee it has been pretty awful and it's pricy at $1.99 a cup (sorry can't beat any size $.99 at another fast food place). I believe they are still working out some kinks in consistency but otherwise the staff is great, the service is usually fast and the food is good. Also open for 23 hours a day (I think they close between 4-5 for some maintenance/prep stuff). They have been nice enough to hook me up a couple times too when they fudged something up. Without the previous mentioned issues, would be 5 star. Easily the best fast food joint in town and the food actually tastes like it was grilled at home! The food is typically excellent for what you pay but the reason I didn't give it five stars is because their chicken tenders are often extremely hard. Loads of good cheap food. Knocking a star off because the food is extremely greasy and the past few times they have not blended the coffee and milkshake drinks enough. Their mocha frap is good (and actually tastes like coffee) but has way too many ice pellets in it. Milkshakes range from "few more seconds in the blender" to "need a spoon to eat it". I still go back because no else in town can match a full entree, two sides and a milkshake for $5.69 and get it to you in minutes.
