My wife and I went in at 9:30 PM. It wasn't busy. The staff was attentive and took our order - two burgers and shakes. The seating area was clean and the atmosphere pleasant. The restrooms were clean. Our food was ready within three minutes or so. Burgers (1/4 lb) were delicious and the shakes were thick and tasty. Cook Out has four burger sizes - 1/8 lb, 1/4 lb, 1/2 lb, and a double. I am not sure what the double is a double of. We didn't look for fries. So, I don't know if they were available. The shake menu is extensive. I suggest just picking one that you think sounds good or you will be there all day deciding. They take Visa, but not Discover. read more

Why is Chick fil a the only fast food restaurant where you consistently get great customer service AND a great fast food experience?? I only come to Cookout for my boys and I admit I've only had a bite of a burger and a nibble of a fry but even still, I could tell the food was very mediocre and the service was dismal. You can't understand anyone on the drive thru speaker and at the window, they are barely pleasant. Would it hurt to smile? Also, why do I have to get a 2 side basket? I said I only wanted a cheeseburger and fries and the only option was a basket? Needless to say, my boys threw away their other side, untouched. May be a lot of food for a moderate price but what if you want a simple cheeseburger and a few fries for a cheaper price. And the menu is so complicated it drives me nuts!! I didn't realize this was a thing for college kids but I went with my family when we pass by one and 2 of the teenagers were excited. Most of the food was pretty unhealthy and very much like festival food, but I have to admit the portions were really good and the food wasn't bad at all. Particularly, the desserts were really good. This is a very reasonably priced fast food option. The tray is only $4.69 plus tax and includes a sandwich plus two sides and a drink. Upgrade to a fancy milk shake for $1 more. What is so impressive about this place is the options for the sides are GREAT. You can get a burger with a chicken wrap and a quesadilla as sides! Some of their sides are like other's entrees! My favorite is the original grilled chicken sandwich which has honey mustard and lettuce and tomato. The wraps as sides are good as well as the onion rings. The milk shakes are the BOMB. The value for what you get here is pretty incredible! We got the $4.99 combo with a double burger which included two sides and a drink! The burger was delicious! Great flavor and the burger was super juicy! I am in love with their hush puppies! They are tiny pieces of heaven. Perfect ratio of crunchy exterior and moist interior. And if you're like me and you love them- get an extra side for only .99 cents! We tried their onion rings which were pretty good. Our kids had the chicken tenders. Disappointed again by this cookout, The drive thru workers are always super friendly and welcoming but im constantly let down by the quality of their food. I got a tray with one of my sides as cheddar bites and they gave me only 5 and the quesadillas are practically raw with very little chicken. Great fried chicken and delicious shakes. After my husband graduated from basic training at fort jackson we went here for lunch. After army food he wanted to enjoy a fatty meal and we sure got it at the cook out. I asked for a side of carrots or celery or really anything fresh and was laughed at. My wife and I have enjoyed the hamburgers at CookOut ever since they opened the store in Columbia on Forest Drive. The hamburgers have been fresh and juicy . . . cooked just right. Tonight, we were extremely disappointed. The hamburgers were over-cooked and cold and the fries tasted like they were cooked hours ago. I am very upset at this cookout!! My boyfriend is a diabetic and we specifically asked for two diet cokes and they gave him a regular coke!!!!! Could have harmed him.
