I'd never heard of Cook Out before in my life, until a week or so ago and I knew I had to try one. My son and I stopped in to order dinner and brought it home to eat. I ordered a cheeseburger combo with cheese bits and onion rings. The sides looked pretty sad and were really tiny portions but tasted ok. My burger was yummy and I'm sure helped with my iron level for my recent blood donation. My son ordered a quesadilla and corn dogs but they didn't give him his Cajun fries and we didn't realize until we'd arrived home and sat down to eat. Bummer! Both of our shakes were tasty! I ordered Oreo, my son ordered peanut butter Oreo. Service was friendly but our order seemed to take a while. I was hungry so maybe it felt longer, but I think it was quite awhile (maybe drive thru is the move here). We've tried it! Check.

Gave us completely wrong order in drive thru, good thing I checked before we drove off. Then I Asked for cookout sauce & forks, straws, napkins..... was then presented with an attitude and told they were in the bag. Drove off, looked in bag and of course they weren't in there. Turned back around to get them. Good portions are insanely small. Won't be back. Pic of food before eating. 3 cheese bites.... Really?

    A ranch chicken wrap

Lack of accountability for making orders is very prominent at this location. I ordered a tray with two ranch wraps and received one chicken ranch wrap and one wrap with a roll of bacon in it.

Wait line to order wasn't long.. guy that took our order seemed to hate life. Hasn't cracked a smile yet. Got food really fast. I ordered the bbq plate. Thinking since this is the south they must have some amazing bbq. Boy was I wrong. The bbq was way to salty. Bbq was also. Very bland it Had a dab of bbq sauce on there. You could tell this wasn't freshly made it was from a bag. I had them give me cajun fries instead of regular fries. The cajun fries are just regular fries with cajun seasoning thrown on it. And slaw was bland no season what so ever. Hush puppies were ok. THEY DONT HAVE DR PEPPER, JUST MR PIBB . I was very sad about that. They do have sonic type ice though. scoreee Might be back to try the burger instead

Sorry for some bites already lol this is spicy chicken with French fries and corn dog (you can choose two sides!)

The combo will make you sooo full and very reasonable ! If you are looking for super yummy one, then unfortunately I don't think this place is the right one but the amount they give you for this price is awesome. Good for family ! You choose two sides and has many options like French fries, onion rings, corn dog, cheese bites, fried okura and much more!

Pulled pork sandwich hardly any meat.

I know better than to expect great food from this place. I still should at least find consistency. My normal order is Chili Cheese Fries (decent) with pulled pork (good) on top. To do this I have to order a pulled pork sandwich for $3.99. That is also fine. The problem is depending on the night I might get hardly any pork. So I bought the sandwich this time and was gonna put the pork on myself. This is what I received.

Good Burgers, however if you are going for the shakes they are more like ice cream not milkshakes.

Food was good, customer service in the Drive-Thru was poor. Kids just talking loud and not responding to customers.

The wait time in the drive through was long BUT the hotdogs were clearly freshly grilled. The price was reasonable. I'll return!!

The service is fast, but the food was not hot. There are not enough tables, and the atmosphere is not relaxing. There is too much noise.

I love cookout. Discovered it when I lived in South Carolina. Came to this cookout on the opening day and was so pleased by everything.

But what I do know is that this was excellent. The Dixon family has gone in and done a huge overhaul on the place. The kitchen has been totally updated and the dining area has been also. Everything is clean and well functioning. You go to the counter and order and then go find a table. The place is small and the number of tables is limited. Once your order is ready they bring it out to you. You get a cup and there is tea and a fountain drink machine for you to fill up your glass. The bbq was amazing. Very tender and flavorful. I ordered a medium bbq plate and it was more than I could eat. I love the chopped bbq. You can also get sliced and chipped. I believe I heard them say the same man that used to do the cooking of the meat, is still the one doing it. They also have clearview bbq sauce and the Dixon family yellow jacket sauce. Both are excellent. We got to try the two pies. One was pecan and the other was a peanut butter pie (though I think it has a different name). Of the two, my friend and I felt the peanut butter one was the best of that kind we had ever had. They are open now and the wait is over. Run right over. You will be so glad you did. Well done Dixon family. Well done e.

If you want DECENT Bbq…read morethen this is your place and if your tired of long lines go here but even with a short line the are slowwwwwwww. It's decent bbq as long as it's not compared to OG Clearview but even comparing it to other places in Columbus I would rather eat else where if giving the choice. To the owner!! Beg for the OG sauce recipe and your line will be out the door like it was before you took over. And work on being a tad faster with orders too! You can still keep your sauce if you like it or others like it but put out the OG sauce too! Have them come train your employees for a little bit and I promise your store will stay busy. But if you are ok with just getting by then stay the same. I still give two stars because the food is alright and sauce is ok compared to others around town it's not terrible but yall slowww

We noticed some folks sitting on the bench by the line and learned they were waiting for "dressing" which they recommended we try. We ordered two ribs plates and one baked chicken plate, dressing, collards, yams, and butter beans. Since they had sold out of cornbread we defaulted to a white dinner roll. Then onto the homemade lemonade and sweet tea. Service was great! Authentic and warm to the first time customers, they obviously had regulars who were greeted lovingly by name. All the line servers answered my questions and patiently waited for our selections. We even met "Little Ed" son of the restaurant's namesake, who was so kind! The food delivered nicely spiced ribs, tender, fall-off-the-bone baked chicken and tender collard greens. The prized jewel of Ed's for us was the dressing - wow, just delicious! I mixed mine up with the butter beans for a small protein twist. We were so satisfied that we brought home the yams for a treat later. Summary: The people are friendly and the food is the definition of comfort. Stop by for the experience and don't forget to close the bathroom hallway door- lol, a nod to our youngest son aka rule follower.
