For the price and if you're on a budget cookout has some of the best food. Yes I know it's not the healthiest but if you are on a set income or have very little money, you can get a lot of food for like eight bucks. They are open late till four in the morning. They also have a secret menu unless you ask, you won't know which is pretty cool in my book and so far they've been very friendly whether you dine in or go through the drive-through. read more

Cookout is not my favorite but tonight proved to be even worse. Everything was burnt, the servings were small, the customer service was average at best and they left a burger off of my order which I did not see until I got home. This cookout was actually clean. That's a big accomplishment these days with the lack of help. We noticed the prices have gone up but still a good deal compared to a they places. We ordered the jr. tray which was supposed to be $5.50, but they don't tell you cheese and tomato are extra. They don't tell you til you get the bill then it's took late. Our food was actually pretty good but the corn dog was over cooked, almost black in color. The meat was so small not even enough to cover the bun and egg shaped patty too. So we enjoyed our food but not being over charged for something they didn't tell us about being an extra charge. All in all, just average food at lower than average prices. Prolly won't come back because there's way too many other restaurants to chose from. read more

Worst experience ever today. Multiple times during the week my family orders from this location but today the person taking orders in the drive-thru was beyond rude, and I felt our food was compromised-threw it away after getting home. There is no way I will EVER go to this place again. Now I know why the line at this place is so short compared to other cookouts. Pretty good for fast food. Cook Out's burgers are very good by fast food standards. Not overly greasy and you actually get significant lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle if you ask for it. The hush puppies are also decent, if a little on the sweet side. The onion rings are better than Burger King, but thats about it. Avoid the cole slaw at all costs, its extremely sweet. We also got a milkshake, which was fine. Better than a typical fast food shake, but nothing special. Coming from New England, Cook Out is extremely cheap, which is nice. I would definitely come back for a burger. read more

Stopped by and got the double burger with cheese & grilled onions. I usually eat at the one on Woodruff and it has been good. Today, on my wife's burger. The bun was hard as a rock like it had been left out for a few days. I took it back and manager made a new one. I told him to tap on the bun as it was like a brick. I'm not sure if the technique here is different but the burger dis not have any semblance of charcoal flavor like before. I did get a Heath Shake and it was very good. The food at this location is always good. It doesn't matter what you get, it seems to be very consistent. The one area it could use some improvement is efficiency in staff. It seems that they forget a lot of items and are very disorganized. If you look beyond that, it's great. read more

Needed a place to grab a quick bite to eat late at night since the family already had dinner. I went to the drive through to get some Cajun Chicken Wraps. They were wraps, they contained really crispy chicken, I couldn't identify cajun or hot sauce. All in all, it was a miss, the line was abnormally long for dinner this late at night. When this Cook Out first opened I thought they were decent. I haven't visited for quite a while, but overall this was disappointing. Since they basically server cheap fast-food, there are just too many other choices to give this another try any time soon. Went to this chain and hands down this was the worst cook out I've ever been to. The girl taking our order seemed like she hated her job and didn't wanna be there. Then after my wife was finished with what she wanted she started yelling at someone in the kitchen to see if they wanted to switch with her and work the counter. After they said no she proceeded to take my half of the order. She was constantly correcting other workers and yelling at them. Seems like they have terrible team work here. Probably why it took 15 minutes to get my food and the drive thru was backed up out of the drive way. The funny thing is that this location looked like it was fully staffed but still couldn't keep up with the orders being placed when the restaurant wasn't even full. I have one of those love hate relationships with this Cook Out. I've eaten at previous Cookouts in the low country but this was my first time at this location. I ordered 2 trays in the drive thru, one was the big double with sides chicken wrap and onion rings, the other tray was a BBQ chopped pork with double order cheese fries. Cashier asked if I wanted Texas Pete and Cole slaw on the side and I said yes. Also (this was my mistake but ended up being a really good mistake) when asked what style my big double was, I called out Club Style when driving off I realized that was for the chicken sandwiches. I figured well he didn't say anything so he'll probably just give me the same toppings. When I got home, I realized there was no cole slaw nor Texas Pete on that tray and that big double did end up being a chicken sandwich which was delicious. So glad that miscommunication happened because that will be my go to menu item! The chicken wrap was Extra Extra crispy, so much that there was more fried then chicken. Onion rings were great but you may get just around 5 rings. I did order one of my favorites, Cheerwine float, but it was a sad cup of majority ice cream and small amount of soda. I can't complain too much because you do receive a lot of food for a tray with such a small price to pay! $4.99 for an entree, 2 sides and a drink, you can't beat it and it's open late every night! My daughter was home sick for the fourth day in a row, battling a sever illness, so I wanted to take her out to lunch and a shake. We went to Bojangles to grab a quick biscuit, but I surprised her with a trip to Cookout. We really like their milkshakes because they usually taste great and are a great value. For the $3 you spend, they give you a very nice serving size. We hit the drive through and ordered a mint fudge shake. I got an extra cup so we could split the shake, then parked, popped open the tailgate, and had a seat in the warm sun. We were disappointed with this one. The mint flavor was lacking and the fudge flavor was nonexistent. Normally, one can taste the flavor additions, but in this case, they were minimal.
