I came here with my husband and our little one. I have driven past a lot of these locations and wanted to try ut for a long time. I probably should've waited longer. When we came in it took a bit of time for the staff to take our order. Something seemed really off with their staff the whole time- just a bit out of sync. The food dribbled out slowly. My husband grabbed the food and had to go bavk to the counter 3 times to get all of our food. My shake came out first. He brought it to me and then went back and got his shake from them. He then had to go back a 3rd time to get our food. It was just frustrating. My husband and I both got burger combos and upgraded the drink to a shake. The little one got some chicken nuggets, which must have been good since a whole nugget got shoved in during feeding time. I got double fries with my combo and my husband got fries and onion rings. I really really wanted to love this place, but I was honestly disappointed in my burger. The bun was bigger the patties and the burger patties were dry and overcooked. The fries tasted pretty good. The shake was also disappointing. I got a Snickers shake and it just tasted like cheap watery soft serve. My husband's blueberry shake tasted better than mine, so maybe it was just a fluke? We sat outside at the outdoor patio area. The patio area was nice and even had some permanent shady space. One of the weird staffing things we saw was a bunch of staff just keep bd of hanging around. When I walked out to the patio there were 2 women sleeping at a table inside the restaurant by the door to the patio. Once we were outside, they moved outside as well and other people came and joined them. Nothing rude or disruptive in our dining experience- just odd. Positives: has high chairs for kids, cheap prices, great patio area Negatives: unorganized staff, not super clean everywhere in the dining area, food quality explains the low, low prices Will we be back? My husband wants to try the food again, but wants to try a different location. If another location gives us a similar experience, we probably won't return. You have to know what you're getting. 15 years ago, when I lived in the south, I would frequent this place (in NC) and since moving back west, there isn't a place that can make this comfort food with this taste at this price. Being from California this was our first time at Cook Out. First impression...the cashier needs an attitude adjustment. She meandered about at the pace of a sloth while replenishing the iced tea dispenser. Not once did she acknowledge the few customers waiting at the counter. A simple "I'll be right with you" would have gone a long way. Then it gets worse...while ordering we mentioned it was our first time but that didn't stop her from seeming irritated when we didn't order quite right. No smile, mono-syllabic responses, curt statements, and NO courtesy "Thank you" after ringing up our order. The food at Cook Out is really tasty! Burgers are fresh and have that home-grilled flavor. The char-grilled chicken burgers include solid chicken breast, not those mysterious ground up chicken patties pressed through smelly machines. There are many varieties of shakes, and they are thick and cold. Most of all, it's inexpensive, especially when you order a tray! But at this location, there have been issues... Last night, at the drive-thru, I ordered a small Char-Grilled Hamburger (240 cal) and paid about a fifty cents extra for "Steak-Style" fixings (100 cal), which is supposed to include A1 Sauce, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Over the intercom, the cashier announced a total of $2.89. At the drive-thru window, I decided to pay with a $5 bill versus credit card since it was such a small amount. The cashier only handed me $2.10, not $2.11. What made the cashier think that it was okay to keep a penny? Was he too tired or lazy to fetch a penny out of the cashier box after already expending energy to grab two bills and a dime? Did he decide to tip himself and pocket that penny? I doubt it was because the cash register ran out of pennies because I saw from the drive-thru lineup that business looked good. As a business establishment, I'm figuring Cook Out expects me to pay the full cost of my order and not a penny less, or else I do not get my food. Because of this, I also expect to get full change due whenever I fork over cash for a transaction. It is not okay for the cashier to keep part of my change no matter how inconsequential he thinks it might think it be. On top of it, the cashier did not give me a receipt! Why? Was it simply neglect/laziness, or did the cashier have no integrity and pocketed the cash? Could it be that it was the cashier employee himself, as opposed to the cash register, who did not have his own supply of pennies? There are other fast food chains where if the cashier neglects to hand the customer a receipt, then the meal is automatically free! If this Cook Out location wants to prevent employees from stealing cash from the cash register, they should implement that same policy. As usual, the burger was delicious, but they did not add A1 Sauce or mayo as ordered. When I paid extra for Steak Style fixings, I expected to get all five as advertised... A1 Sauce, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and mayo, not just three. If they were out of any of the ingredients, then they should have warned me before finalizing the transaction. I might have changed course and ordered some other set of fixings or demanded a 2/5 refund for my fixings. More likely, some kid at the grill was just careless, lazy, or indifferent and left those items out of my burger. As it was, I was most looking forward to the tangy A1 Sauce among those fixings, so its absence was obvious and irritating. This is my third time at this location, and I am starting to notice a pattern that other reviewers have noticed too. The customer service here is inferior to other fast food restaurants, including other Cook Outs. Here, they are unusually stingy with condiments. The servers at this drive-thru never include any pepper, ketchup, or mustard packets with my orders. Not once have I gotten any napkins in my bag. By the time I drive away and start eating, it is always too late to drive back into the drive-thru line to get these things. Some of these things, especially napkins, should be automatically loaded into the bag without the customer having to ask. For others, like ketchup and mustard, they should at least offer it before allowing us to drive away. Last night, I resented that they did not include these extras, especially after the cashier decided to keep an extra penny of my change. Cheapskates!!! As usual, I had to improvise by using the paper bag and my hands to wipe the drool, food scraps, and burger grease off my face. But the coarse bag paper chapped my lips. I've heard about this place for SO LONG and finally got to try this for late night. When I was in school in 2013 there weren't any Cook-Outs around, now they are pretty much everywhere. I was probably not in the best of shape to be stuffing this food down my throat but needed something because the munchies were kicking in and it was getting late. I was definitely overwhelmed with options, if you don't know what you want then shoot just order a little of everything. So I did some combo and got a burger, chicken nuggets and onions rings. I made it fancy with a milkshake and could not decide what I wanted. I went with the cashier's suggestion of the Strawberry Oreo Cheese which after a few sips I regretted. It was definitely tasty but was SO rich and decadent, not the best move at 3am. The burger was fine, it was rather fresh but I bit greasy for my taste.I would have preferred some kind of Big Mac sauce to spice it up. The chicken nuggets were random but was good to be able to choose that as a side. Onions rings, nothing crazy here. I could see the appeal here, all my food was about $6 and relatively fresh for what it means at fast food. Lots of options, you can get corndogs, quesadillas, hushpuppies, bbq sandwiches. I'm not always into eating all these fattening and fried foods but every once in a while I need to satisfy that craving. I think next time I'd know the route I would want to go down, by saucing it up and ordering it cook out style for the burger. This is not the best Cook Out I've ever been to, but it's okay. the service is fast, they get orders correct. The shakes are good. But, the first Cook Out I ever visited - a location in Aberdeen, NC, had food superior to the food this location. Same exact menu options, but Aberdeen's fries were consistently hotter and fresher. Their fried chicken sandwiches were crispier and tastier. For some reason, their shakes even seemed better. The people who work here are consistently kind and considerate. The restaurant seems clean. If you've never been to a Cook Out before, they have low prices and pretty good shakes. You can get a mixed shake (essentially creating your own flavor) for no additional cost. My order is always right even though there are times it's not a s fresh as I'd like it to be as for the fryer items like fries and cheese bites. My biggest complaint is with the shakes. I love a good think shake but their usually very liquidity and can be drunk with the spoon right from the window. I notice shakes are usually sitting in the before the food is ready which may also play a part in the melting a little bit before I've gotten it but shouldn't be if made with the correct thickness to start with. I prayed for a long time that Cookout would spread it's wings down to the metro Atlanta area. My prayers were answered about a month or so ago. This Cookout is only about 10 minutes from work. My life is [almost] complete. You shouldn't go to Cookout and expect a upscale fine dining experience. It's the cheapest and most delicious fast food you can buy in my opinion. I get fed for a whopping $5.34 each time I go. I pretty much get the same thing each time I go here and I eat it at least once a week. The cajun fries are the jam. The Cajun chicken sandwich is divine. The chicken quesadillas are very good too. Who the h*ck doesn't love Cheerwine to wash it all down? I've tried other things on the menu; it's all good! The two stars is for the service and not the food. I always like the food but for some reason this location gets my order right about 30% of the time. It is unfortunate that this is the one closest to me because the one in Forth Ward is amazing. I am writing this after having ordered, and repeating that order, two corn-dogs with mustard, a large coke, a side of hush puppies, and a banana fudge shake. What I got was two corn dogs with no mustard, a medium diet coke, 4 hush puppies in the bottom of the bag, and a plain vanilla shake. It is hard to notice the errors when you go through the drive thru and I never want to be that person who inconveniences the people in line behind me by going through everything, even though I would at least leave with a correct order.
