I eat alot. I'm a big lad. This place claims to be saving me money everytime I get a receipt for my purchase but its merely a form of sweet talk after you've been financial molested. You can buy food here to feed your ass no matter your size but don't expect true savings of any type. My highlight of shopping here are the occasional cuties running the registers. Drive to Morro Bay to get your groceries and your gasoline. read more

A few weekends ago, me and some girlfriends headed north to go to Hearst Castle. We also wanted to go vino tasting. We stopped here, thinking (pretty much correct) that it was the only proper market in the vicinity of Cambria-San Simeon, to get some drinks and snacks to stock our hotel room. We had just arrived after driving a few hours from LA and wanted to do some tasting before heading to the hotel and then to our early evening Hearst Castle tour. Why did no one in this place know where we could go wine tasting or know whether there was another grocery store between Cambria and San Simeon. This is a tourist town in/near the central coast wine country! They had no literature or maps to help a tourist get her taste on. One checker told me she'd never even been to San Simeon. WTF?? Luckily a very nice patron (probably a weekend home-owner) referred us to Fermentations back downtown and advised that this was the only grocery store in the vicinity. This nice lady saved the day! Sorry....verbal diarrhea! The point is: Pros: We got some decent and reasonably priced snacks (chips, salsa), beer, wine, and some yummy organic vegan chocolates. Cons: total ripoff priced corkscrew. There were cooler, cheaper ones at Fermentations. After I paid, the lady forgot to give me my cash back! Nice try! Luckily I remembered as I walked back to the parking lot. This is a great place to reup on supplies or pick up something you forgot while on vacation! Obviously this is no Walmart which is reflected in their prices. However, I never find that I pay a significant amount more than I do at my local Albertson's. The parking lot is a bit tricky if you aren't paying attention so read the signs and follow the arrows! You can purchase a paper bag for approximately 15 cents if you do not bring your own, otherwise expect to be juggling your items to your car. Service is spotty...its either fantastic or subpar but honestly, you're probably not coming here for the customer service. Excellent selection of beer, wine and liquor! If you're camping at San Simeon State Park, this is a great place to buy wood. Its around $7 a bundle with your choice of pine or oak. read more

Thanks goodness... An actual market. We had heard the we should do shopping outside of Cambria if we wanted food for our cabin stay. Not so! Cookie Crock was fully stocked for the most part, and the deli area was very clean and staffed with a very sweet lady who helped us with our salami. read more

What a gem of a supermarket. Small and well stocked and plenty of gluten free options.

Well for tourists, this place is fine if you need a few things. But for residents, it's not the best. WAY too expensive!! I definitely agree with the "Cookie Crook" nickname. Plus, they don't seem to rotate their inventory all too often- several times I've gotten food that was almost past its expiration date. Customer service is pretty good. read more

Pretty expensive as far as groceries go, but you don't have a lot of options in Cambria. I came in on my way to Moonstone Beach and bought batteries and some bananas. The rainier cherries were super expensive- almost $7/lb- but the bananas were cheap, and the batteries a standard price. Checkers were friendly. read more

Glad we found this place. My family and I were looking for a small market to get some fruit and snacks for the beach. We drove past it once, because you can't tell it's a grocery store from the street. Once we found it, we were very pleased with the quality of the produce. Gladly had to pay 10 cents for a plastic bag. Wish more stores in America would start doing that. Good store to pick up a few items for your vacation. read more

Well stocked compact market. Very nice selection of well priced fresh produce. They carry the Hearst meat along with their own costal grazed brand called 1855. For the price difference, the 1855 is pleasantly surprising. The Baja Filet, a small medallion cut is a tender BBQ steak that is well worth the $4.95lb. The butcher will cut it thicker of you ask. They carry a lot of interesting natural foods, grains and cereals not typically found in a chain. Obviously they cater to a few health nuts like myself. I can always find the Lungrens Rice in several varieties which can't be beat and is super hard to find. At the holidays, I even found the Lungrens Christmas Rice, which is this amazing gorgeous dark red rice perfect for my holiday dishes. I stock up on the rare find oddities because their inventory stocking changes. Having a second home in Cambria, I love my regular adventurous visit to Cookie Crock. read more

Friendly staff, good selection for a local market. Yes you pay more. How many stores these days carry your groceries to the car for you! I'm not going to SLO to pickup ice cream to save $1.50. I'll burn more than that in gas, not to mention the wasted time driving both directions. What are are the complainers thinking when trying to compare prices. Give the store a break. They have to pay rent, pay their people and buy the products.. this is the cost of having a local market. read more

Great little market, you may not see it from the main street. Have all the essentials including beer, wine and a deli.

Enjoyed this market!! Found and read the other reviews, I am very pleased with the selection from wines to produce! I found the staff to be very personable! I love the carry out service. Because the of reviews, I did bring my own bag. I'm happy there are stores that are doing their part to help the environment! This is my second trip to Cambria, first time to the Cookie Crock Market. The store has a small town feel (as it should being in a small town), with large city selections...not too much, just enough, and without the crowds! Pricing is comparable to stores such as Trader Joe's. Next trip to Cambria, any grocery needs will be taken care of by The Cookie Crock Market! read more

Great Grocery Store, Great Prices! We are vacationing in Cambria for a week and found this store. We bought some cheeses/crackers/fruit for a picnic on the beach. The people working here are very friendly. They have everything our local store next to us carries and great prices, especially for it being in the middle of a tourist town. Great place for snacks too/deli meats/seafood. TIP: They charge for plastic bags, either bring your own reusables ones for groceries or buy a bag for a few cents. read more

The grocery store that time, and common courtesy, forgot. They make a show of old-fashioned customer service by offering to help you take your bagged groceries to your car, but neglect the basics, like saying "hello" and "thank you." I got the cold shoulder for bagging my own groceries (because the bagger was helping the prior customer to her car) and putting the stylus for the electronic pay pad back vertically rather than horizontally. The store offers mediocre quality and minimal selection at premium prices. The owner must get down on his knees and thank God every day that there is no competition anywhere within 15 miles. read more

When I moved to Cambria from Southern California, I was pleased to find that the Cookie Crock Market offered a wider selection of food and sundries than I had anticipated (Cambria is a small town of about 6,500 people). They sell local and regional products and they have a good variety of organic options. The Cookie Crock provides much of what residents like me need on a weekly basis as well as items people visiting town may need or want. read more

This place is a great basic market. It has good supply of all the basics that you need for the weekend. The staff is very nice and friendly. And their oven roasted turkey is great for sandwiches. read more

Being plant based or vegan it's hard to find fresh veggies . The Cookie Crock Market in Cambria CA has what you need . Their produce section has fresh in season veggies. such as greens, onions, carrots, lettuces, asparagus, eggplants,potatoes, kale, along with bananas, lemons, oranges, and other fruits. The produce managers do a great job of displaying what they have. I had to thank them for being there as I really needed veggies, which are rare in restaurant food. This market has them and the price isn't much higher than in the SF bay area. I found all the makings for lunch and dinner. They also have Tofurky sausages, Almond Dream "ice cream",Cocoa powder,and canned beans and veggies. It's a regular market so all the other stuff is there too. I only wanted veggies and I found them. Thank you Cookie Crock Market and Carl for carrying my groceries to my car. Excellent service. You made our vacation just that much better. read more

The rudest place in Cambria. The cashiers never smile or greet you when you're checking out, and the last time I was there a couple of days ago, the cashier never greeted me or even told what my total was. I'm lucky I got a thank you as she handed me my receipt. They are extremely over priced for the same items as a big market. I guess if you don't want to drive to Morro Bay then you're stuck with going to Cookie Crock. I however will take my business to Morro Bay. read more

Never again after30 yrs going here I have never been treated so badly when checking out today July 1st 630pm lane 4 cashier #750 we were treated so badly it will never be forgotten Jessica has no business in customer service when checking out I was being very friendly and trying to be helpful the store was hardly busy and I had two full heavy boxes of wine in my cart and nicely asked Jessica if she would like them pulled around to her side for hand scanning instead of placing them on belt so she did not get hurt when lifting them she rudly ignored me and said I need a bottle from each box and how many are in a case I told her and opened the 2nd box she said it again how many yrs working in food store before you know 12 bottles in a box ? So I'm holding up line being treated like a criminal then comes along box guy who was even more rude than her with a few nasty comments out loud then they both slowly proceed to load our basket one tiny item at a time with no asking if we wanted bags or anything he was just dropping little fruit drink bottles milk crackers and many tiny items down into basket between very heavy wine box's which were now all opened up and out of place my wife and I stood there trying to be nice about it and said nothing then after all of this happens the wine was advertised to be on sale if you buy the required amount so I had 24 bottles and the discount was not on the receipt and I was charged $10.99 each when the signs all said 9.99 plus discount she did not do that either so when spending $343.17 on a small basket trying to shop local and being treated like this the cookie crock can go to hell read more
