warning to anyone applying to work at oak hill market and you work in the deli with a lady named donna. she is very ver rude and racist towards not only her coworkers but very rude towards the shoppers who come in. she had a history of being rude and nasty towards anyone she pleases and the company simply just lets her under the guise of "she needs to warm up to you" and "she's just not used to you." and the only form of "punishment" might be coaching unless they sweep it under the rug. she and everyone else in management is aware of her behavior and still lets her get away with it because of seniority. warning to anyone applying and all people of colour incase you're looking for a summer job. and the overhead staff is also no help also with the reasons listed above. it's genuinly not worth the hardship of having to deal with donna and you shouldn't have to be prepped and warned BY ALL COWORKERS that she is a nasty person when the right thing to do is fire her when she makes the workplace miserable. read more

We went to town to shop for Thanksgiving & it was a madhouse & everybody was out of everything! We came up here & they had it ALL! My husband was amazed that they were so well stocked At Oakhill. He said not one thing he needed was out & was so impressed. Also everyone was friendly & the new reward feature is a nice addition. read more

Local Take: You cannot fool me...this is more of a supermarket than a local "market". How can I tell, well their eggs are all the way from Santa Maria and not more local farms...even Grocery Outlet has more local stuff. In addition, much of their other products are cheaper brands that can be marked up more. I did not see any local farm products nor even Cal-Poly products...as can be found in even other out of the way places on the Coast, like in Morro Bay or Cambria. Of course, you are paying for a clean mainstream supermarket basically out in the sticks. If you are not going to the Lake [which was a 15% when I was in the area], then you either live there or have business there. We happened to be running a vaccine clinic across the street & I was curious if they happened to have any local Paso grown or produced stuff. While I was there the serve counters were closed and while I did see some interesting possibly stored made sausages in a freezer, I was afraid they would not keep for the long drive back to the Pismo area. As I looked around for any goodies that would be considered "local" or even unusual, I found basic generic stuff that one might find at a Von's....even then our local Von's has far more local stuff. Being only 20 minutes from Paso-town itself, you would think it a simple matter to get some of the goodies from the Paso area to this out-of-the-way place...but no. Could it be for a lack of demand...who knows. What I do know was that at least 1/2 of the customers could not be bothered wearing a simple mask, while the few employees did. The massless customers were mainly in their teens to thirties, so why would they even care about the older crowd? i really felt sorry for the older staff who had to work there regardless. In short, while it was interesting to see what such an out of the way supermarket would be like, I walked out not buying anything. While such a place is kind of a god-send to local residents for basic shopping needs, or for the tourists who do come by this way when in season, it really does not offer much for the random traveler that I could see. read more

We came here twice during our stay at Paso Robles and felt that the place was well-stocked although this is more of a supermarket than a local market. The staff was super-friendly and helpful and we were able to find most of the things we'd been looking for (milk, wine, bread, cheese) without any issues. There's ample parking in the vicinity and they've done a great job of keeping this place as clean as possible. read more

I've always loved coming to this store. Awesome deli. A nice big sandwich after a day on the lake. Its thee best! High quality meats. These beef ribs my dad smoked today were amazing! Everything I've gotten from here have been good. Love the air chilled chicken. House made sausages are a must. I have a hard time when people complain about it being expensive. The best of quality is worth the extra dollar or so Karen. The produce is good and they have a good selection of booze. The only reason I dont give this place 5 stars is because of the shelf items. Some things dont move and you can tell. Just as well, all you need is meat, vegetables and booze to survive. read more

I give it 4 stars because they have really nice employees. Superrrr nice. The only negative I have about it, is the price of everything. It is SOOOO expensive & they only have a really small selection of stuff to choose from. Considering the price tag they put on every item you'd expect more healthy foods without the bad ingredients, dyes etc. or more local brands to choose from. I do love their sweet corn they put out fresh on the weekend for everyone that comes up to the lake. I do wish they had more healthy/natural juices. It's so hard going there for a drink & all they have is drinks with High Fructose Corn Syrup, Dyes, phosphorus, etc all the bad ingredients ): I come here almost everyday because I live right next to it & I dread that drive into town. For example their 6 pack of Boost Plus premade protein drinks are 20$ ... at a store in town the price for that same 6 pack is about 12$ give or take & also at stores in town a 12 PACK is 20$. So really they're doubling the price in almost everything... I do give them props for their excellent customer service & really nice workers. read more

Came here for sandwiches and miscellaneous stuff. The sandwiches took ages to arrive but they were really good. Not designer sandwiches melting in secret sauce, but ordinary favorites with generous amounts of fresh toppings. I didn't shop for long but the variety and quality of products looked better than most chains. read more

I give it three stars because it's better than driving to Paso. Other than that, it has slowly gotten worse over the years. The meat department is its saving grace. It's spendy, but what isn't around here. You HAVE to check the dates on everything! Take for example the ice cream I bought today (see Pic.) it expired in January of 2018. Also, even though we live in the Central valley surrounded by farms, it randomly has fresh vegetables. Check them too. Most of the staff is friendly. I give this 2 stars now. They have progressively gotten worse in regards to customer service. I used to buy all my sausages from them and usually have had no problem ordering and have them available same day. So last time I tried to order , the meat department "boss" said he stopped making them because of the pandemic (ok , that's valid and I support that- but my neighbor went in and bought some a few days later - hmmm). But this morning I called again and asked if I could get some made and pick up in the afternoon- response was rude "not going to happen" (so much for me being a loyal customer over the years). I get people are frustrated , but if I am trying to keep my purchases to local businesses , at least I should be treated with some respect as I work hard for my money too. Too bad - I will look for another meat department that wants my business. The conversation was cordial- until he was rude , then I just said thank you and bye. read more

I have been a customer of the Oak Hill Market for about 7 years. Everything has been pretty great, the deli always has good hot food and sandwiches, the produce is always fresh, the butchers always has good cuts and sometimes a better deal then town and always a good selection of beer. The reason I am giving only 1 star is because of one employee the has been working at the store the whole time I have been a customer. I don't know if she is just a very racist person or what but Carol who is now the morning manager has only been rude and disrespectful to me anytime I have had to interact with her and she usually the cashier in the morning so you can't even avoid her. At this point I just don't go there in the morning to avoid contact with her. I do not think that it is good to have such a racist person in management unless the owner are the same way. read more

To Paul M. from the vaccine clinic, a month ago. No, Oak Hill Market is just that:a market, and a convenient place for any resident from around Naciamento. Oak shores is 20mins away, 40mins from town. Here at Heritage Ranch, we are 20mins from town. Which means 80mins round trip from Oak shores, 40mins from Heritage. The gas and time to go into town, looking for "locally" sourced foods, is a search. Prices for "Local" foods, from what I've seen, are higher. Eggs, cheese, meats are all higher than what we pay at Oak Hill. I can make a 10min round trip, get what's needed, rather than having to make a trip into town, dodging unsafe drivers, and wildlife.... read more

Let's just say customer service is the last thing on the minds of the people who work here. I relocated to the lake, and it's as if the people who work here think just because the next closest store is 20 minutes away they can conduct themselves however, keep people waiting outside past opening hours, and plain ignore customers. Just like them, people work, and are counted on to be on time to work, and complete their jobs in the time allotted. Just because it's 7AM and you just opened, doesn't mean a customer on their way to work trying to quickly stop in, only to find the bakery or deli hasn't finished their morning duties is going to be okay with you completely wasting their precious time. It seems every time I go into this store it's one thing or another. The only time I have had a pleasant experience taking my business to this store was at the meat counter. The associate was nice and helpful, two things the cashiers fail at, particularly the older women. I think one might even be a manager, or supervisor. The store itself does have a reasonably good selection, and I do like the hardware/plumbing/electrical/etc. aisle, and the prices aren't crazy over the top. However, customer service is very important to me, especially when spending a little more than what I would in town. So I've decided to spare myself the inevitable frustrations of shopping at the Oak Hill Market, and take my business to town where it might be appreciated. Sure I'll probably have to cave for a gallon of milk of head of lettuce, but I will not do any of my real shopping here again. The prices are too high to pay to deal with rude employees and incompetence. read more

This is a large, new market right next to Lake Nacmiento. It's so close you could literally drive there everyday to save money from the general store inside the park/camping area or even twice a day. The selection and prices are normal, not you're in the middle of nowhere gotchaville. The meat department had my wife and I questioning freshness, but we only bought some lunchables and ice so worked mighty well for us. We had some turnovers and donuts from the bakery and they were fresh and tasty too. read more

Great location for a great store! This store doesn't seem any more expensive than your local Vons Grocers - so if you forget something while you're at the lake, no fear! It's about ten minutes from Oak Shores. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had is the 'Dragon' sandwich. It's well worth the trip to Oak Hill just to get a 'Dragon'!!! They also have fresh fish! I really like this market the have a great selection of food. I shop here rather than going into Paso Robles to buy food I like it better than the Bee Rock Store that closed last year. Best sausage in and out of town! The butcher is passionate about making delicious handcrafted sausages and it shows. I recommend the Ghost Dragon (ghost dragon peppers=HOT,HOT,HOT!!!), The Hawaiian, and the Cheesy Flamethrower. (Don't worry, the butcher even admitted he wanted to change the name on the last one. Phew!!) I hear the hamburger patties are also worth every penny. If I lived at Heritage Ranch I would gladly pay a little bit more to shop a this local gem! In fact, I live about 20 minutes away and I would be more than happy to take a scenic drive out there to pick up some treats. read more

Nice to have a store out by heritage Ranch. It's a little pricy so I don't do my regular shopping here but if I need something quick for a recipe it beats wasting gas going into town to get. Brad and his wife who run the meat counter are amazing. They have some of the best sausages I have ever had. I live in Heritage Ranch and rely on this store for a lot of my grocery needs. It has everything you would need. It's a little pricey so we usually get our groceries in town... This is an excellent grocery store. It's the perfect stop on your way to the lakes. It's much bigger than you would expect. Some of the best things are in the deli with lots of freshly prepared foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It appears they are unable to keep up with expiration dates! You have to check everything! We continually find multiple items that of been expired for over a month. Don't be in a hurry to shop there you need to take your time and check all expiration dates. read more
