Cookie Proper are for sure some of the best artisanal snacks I've had in the Bay Area. I first tried these at Bridges Rock Gym--the David White Marble to be exact. Each bite was just as addicting as the first, with consistent texture (not too gooey or hard) and a modest amount of sweetness. The white chocolate bits didn't overpower the flavor of the dough too, and were definitely a cut above the other milk chocolate crap that are in more conventional cookies. I'll make an effort to try more of Cookie Proper's different flavors in the near future, and am considering having some catered for events too! read more

I wasn't sure another cookie company would be able to compete. I met the two awesome friendly humble guys behind cookie proper on alameda's customer appreciation day. They gave me and my friend a taste test of each of their cookies and was already blown away. I ended buying six cookies and eating them before the end of the day! Review for the cookies only: Ok so I've only tried the cookies, but their other products looked amazing as well. This might be silly to say, but their cookies taste like an actual COOKIE! You have to admit when you eat those "fortified" "vegan" "organic" "gluten free" cookies, you're really not eating cookie. It's not something that shaped like a cookie. When I want to enjoy a sweet delight, I want it eat for the taste not for the health benefits. The cookies were very well made. All cookies were soft chewy heavenly goodness. They definitely did not skim on the ingredients. Each cookie was loaded it up with chocolate, peppermint, or toffee. It was baked to perfection - soft centered, but not overcooked on the outside where you got the annoying hard crust. But the cookie held together well - so it didn't fall apart mid-bite. I was also told by that they use half the butter and coconut oil in their cookies to make it more sustainable. Awesome!!! The only con I would say is that it was a bit too sweet for me. Cookie Proper makes proper cookies. They feel firm and dry on the outside, yet chewy and moist on the inside. Good stuff! They're also quite buttery and sweet which is a good thing when every other cookie nowadays aims to be "healthy" and "good for you" which often results in bleh. Personally, I find them just a bit too sweet such that I feel like I've had enough after one cookie, but I still love it.
