    Fruit tart
    Frankie L.

The fruit tarts here are one of the best I've ever had. Fruits are really fresh and the tart is not too sweet, I think it can be refreshing at times. Service is good, quick and friendly. A cute bakery where you line up and pick out the items you want. Bread is also good, but the highlight is definitely the Star. Be prepared to wait in more of a line if you go on mothers or Father's Day.

Charmed by the French-style bakery storefront and tidy shelves of baked goods, I stopped in at La Farine to purchase a bread loaf. While La Farine has a smaller pastry selection than its neighboring bakeries on College Ave., it has an impressive variety of baguettes and sourdough loafs. I ordered a mini kalamata olive loaf, which was the perfect size for snacking. Service was quick and efficient, and I took my bread to-go to enjoy at home. I appreciated how the loaf is baked with more olives per square inch than any olive bread I have ever tasted. The sourdough had a good chew without being too tough and was soft and fluffy on the inside. The tangy sourdough and briny olives needed little else but were enhanced with a pat of French butter. On my next visit, I'd like to try La Farine's other sourdough loaves and baguettes.

What a ridiculous display of delicious breads and baked goods! A must stop. My wife also got a sourdough starter so was extra happy!

Pastries were really buttery, flaky, and they had a very unique selection of different desserts that I would love to be able to all try one day. Their mocha cake was incredibly rich and delicious, which I would highly recommend, and we also ordered their lemon shortbread that had a very strong taste of lemon but it was too sweet for my own palate.

Was in the area and decided to drop by because I love a pastry and this place did not disappoint! We ordered a morning bun, choclatine, and a mini chocolate chip pumpkin cake. The morning bun was delicious, crispy croissant layers but also soft and doughy (not undercooked but just right) on the inside. The chocolate chip pumpkin cake was also good and had lots of chocolate chips but was a little dry for my liking. The choclatine was my favorite and is easily one of the best chocolatw croissants I've had in the area. Everything was also reasonably priced. All in all delicious pastries, charming shop, and quick service. I cant wait to go back and try everything else

For Christmas my friend bought my family and I this fruit tart. Yes, it looks like any other fruit tart, but wow, it didn't even last 24 hours. We demolished it. Did I mention I'm super picky about crust and custard? Well, this fruit tart knocked it out of the park! Perfect crust, amazing flavor, and once again it didn't even last 24 hours because we ate it all. The fruit was fresh too, just so you know. This should be a holiday tradition, eating a yummy fruit tart for the holidays! 5 stars delicious!

Popped in quick for some baked goods to go while walking around the neighborhood with some friends. We got the chocolate chip and raspberry walnut scones where were both great! Every single item looked great. Setting felt similar to a bakery in France. Very short line on a weekend late morning. Would go back for more!

Pretty good, it's better than some other bakeries, but it's not Porto's! I didn't really find anything extraordinary here but everything was good enough at least, definitely not bad. I'd rate it around 3.5-3.9 overall, better than 3 stars so I rounded up to 4 They are friendly and quick. Place is cute, stuff is very nicely presented, I love how it looks, just the place is kinda small. It feels a bit crowded and I got confused on where I should stand after 2 more people came in after me. Then 2 more people showed up and it felt really crowded. I think the lining up and ordering system could be more efficient but I'm not sure how exactly to go about making it better lol. I don't know how they could have more than like 5 customers in here at the same time. I think they can comfortably serve up to 2-3 people at the same time at most. Definitely not good for groups. Ideally just come in alone and spend no more than 2-3 minutes inside. Good thing everything is made and ready to go and there's no seating or it would be a nightmare!

Picked up some pastries right before they closed. Chose the fruit tart, ham and cheese puff pastry, and an apple filled croissant swirl. Everything I have tried from this bakery is made well and just the right amount of sweetness or savory depending on the baked item.

I always stop here for dessert after my eye doctor appointments--it's become my little tradition! Today I got the fruit tart and the chocolate eclairs. Both were delicious (as always). It's honestly hard to choose because everything here is so good!

The fruit tart is superior to many, probably the best in the Bay. The pear and ginger tart is very strong in ginger flavor, so if you don't like ginger then you won't like this at all. They also sell bread, cookies and other pastries. I've tried things here and there but nothing stood out like the fruit tart. It's a crowd favorite at parties.

There is no seating area but the place is packed with goodies. I went with the layered cake and it was pretty good. Not too sweet.

What a cute little bakery! Located on College Avenue near Rockridge, La Marine is such a classic spot! A good variety of baked good to choose from and loads of different breads! Their walls are lined with different loaves and baguettes, so nice! I opted for a simple sour baguette and an apple croissant. Delicious! The bread went with everything I was making that weekend and made a really good sandwich too. The apple croissant was light and crispy, and is easily a favorite of mine now. Service is quick and everyone was patient with me as I made my choices! Totally check this spot out!

In total, we paid $7.50, which was not bad at all! The space is spacious inside with an ample parking lot, but I would say this is more of a grab-and-go place; there is some outdoor seating. We got a pizza with tomato, olive oil, feta, and olives. The service was quick, straightforward, and we were able to get our slices within 5 minutes and it came out hot which was great! The pizza itself is on the thinner side and has a good ratio of dough to cheese. The crust/base was chewy and light and did in fact, taste healthy (in a good way)! Do I think this place is somewhere you must go to try out? Honestly, no, it is a good value pizza that tastes delicious, but I would say to only stop in if you are around the area.

I didn't give myself any expectations because sometimes food that are trending are overhyped. But these desserts were really good, even the flavors I typically do not prefer. The prices are pretty up there - our order was roughly $110. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I get them again? Only on special occasions. The flavors we got are below (ranked from my personal fave to least fave): 1. Pistachio - I'm probably biased towards this since I always like anything pistachio flavored. 2. Strawberry - A little tart, sweet, and the shell is just so good. 3. Mango - If you're a mango lover, this might be your favorite. I typically do not get mango-flavored desserts, but this one was good. For it to make it to my Top 3 says a lot. 4. Raspberry - I forgot why but I remember liking this lol. 5. Avocado - This one was shocking. I do not like anything avocado-flavored. I was hesitant on trying this but it was actually delicious. Very mellow and creamy. 6. Blueberry - For blueberry fans, this might not be for you. I do not like blueberries but this one was edible enough for me because the blueberry taste was not that strong. 7. Pomegranate - This was pretty bland. It made me think what pomegranate really tasted like because I couldn't really remember from this dessert. 8. Lemon - Most disappointing. There was something odd about its tartness. Not your typical lemon-flavored items. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here. You can see the staff work on the dessert behind the counter. The staff assisting us was very patient because we were very indecisive on what to get, but we ultimately got one of everything. I want to emphasize that none of the desserts are bad. My ranking is just based on personal faves and I'm pretty picky. Highly recommend!

Yuzu Meringue Bun -- Spot on with the cruffin and meringue combination. The yuzu flavor was generous, although it leaned a little too tart for my personal preference. I wished there was more meringue -- perhaps having a layer of meringue in the center would have made it absolutely superb! Brown Butter Mochi Bites -- These were alright, but nothing particularly special. They were missing the signature mochi chewy texture, so they didn't quite feel "mochi" enough to truly be called mochi bites. Sesame Cookie -- Unfortunately, it was too hard and crisp for my liking. Crossubi -- A very unique concept and not bad overall. I just wish the interior wasn't quite as hollow; a little more filling would have elevated it.
