Was in the area and decided to drop by because I love a pastry and this place did not disappoint! We ordered a morning bun, choclatine, and a mini chocolate chip pumpkin cake. The morning bun was delicious, crispy croissant layers but also soft and doughy (not undercooked but just right) on the inside. The chocolate chip pumpkin cake was also good and had lots of chocolate chips but was a little dry for my liking. The choclatine was my favorite and is easily one of the best chocolatw croissants I've had in the area. Everything was also reasonably priced. All in all delicious pastries, charming shop, and quick service. I cant wait to go back and try everything else

For Christmas my friend bought my family and I this fruit tart. Yes, it looks like any other fruit tart, but wow, it didn't even last 24 hours. We demolished it. Did I mention I'm super picky about crust and custard? Well, this fruit tart knocked it out of the park! Perfect crust, amazing flavor, and once again it didn't even last 24 hours because we ate it all. The fruit was fresh too, just so you know. This should be a holiday tradition, eating a yummy fruit tart for the holidays! 5 stars delicious!

There is no seating area but the place is packed with goodies. I went with the layered cake and it was pretty good. Not too sweet.

Popped in quick for some baked goods to go while walking around the neighborhood with some friends. We got the chocolate chip and raspberry walnut scones where were both great! Every single item looked great. Setting felt similar to a bakery in France. Very short line on a weekend late morning. Would go back for more!

Picked up some pastries right before they closed. Chose the fruit tart, ham and cheese puff pastry, and an apple filled croissant swirl. Everything I have tried from this bakery is made well and just the right amount of sweetness or savory depending on the baked item.

Pretty good, it's better than some other bakeries, but it's not Porto's! I didn't really find anything extraordinary here but everything was good enough at least, definitely not bad. I'd rate it around 3.5-3.9 overall, better than 3 stars so I rounded up to 4 They are friendly and quick. Place is cute, stuff is very nicely presented, I love how it looks, just the place is kinda small. It feels a bit crowded and I got confused on where I should stand after 2 more people came in after me. Then 2 more people showed up and it felt really crowded. I think the lining up and ordering system could be more efficient but I'm not sure how exactly to go about making it better lol. I don't know how they could have more than like 5 customers in here at the same time. I think they can comfortably serve up to 2-3 people at the same time at most. Definitely not good for groups. Ideally just come in alone and spend no more than 2-3 minutes inside. Good thing everything is made and ready to go and there's no seating or it would be a nightmare!

I always stop here for dessert after my eye doctor appointments--it's become my little tradition! Today I got the fruit tart and the chocolate eclairs. Both were delicious (as always). It's honestly hard to choose because everything here is so good!

The fruit tart is superior to many, probably the best in the Bay. The pear and ginger tart is very strong in ginger flavor, so if you don't like ginger then you won't like this at all. They also sell bread, cookies and other pastries. I've tried things here and there but nothing stood out like the fruit tart. It's a crowd favorite at parties.

What a cute little bakery! Located on College Avenue near Rockridge, La Marine is such a classic spot! A good variety of baked good to choose from and loads of different breads! Their walls are lined with different loaves and baguettes, so nice! I opted for a simple sour baguette and an apple croissant. Delicious! The bread went with everything I was making that weekend and made a really good sandwich too. The apple croissant was light and crispy, and is easily a favorite of mine now. Service is quick and everyone was patient with me as I made my choices! Totally check this spot out!

Hands down, La Farine has the best fruit tarts!! While I have never been to the store myself, my family LOVES the fruit tarts from La Farine and rank it as the best fruit tart they've had. The crust is buttery and flaky, and proportional to the cream that they use. They also have a big variety of fruit options for those who are more particular about what fruit they like on a tart. Overall, 5/5 for their fruit tart. I know they have other pastries but I have yet to try them. We will keep coming back for the fruit tart!

Beautiful bakery location. I love the exterior from the blue tiles, to the shiny windows, leading one to walk inside to find a large array of goodies! I am so glad that I walked in. I had ordered a bunch of things to bring back home with me to share with my mom. They have so many things to choose from -- I like to take my time to browse so I had a few people go ahead of me. I would say the staff is quick and attentive, but again, I needed more time to scan the place to see what they had. I wish there was more time for people to decide and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed. It also would be cute if they had little French cafe tables out on the sidewalk.

    Pecan Pie

Unless you love regular pecan nuts, do not get the pecan pie. It consists of pie crust and a pile of pecans. It doesn't have any custard filling which makes a pie a pie. It was disappointing to bite into what I thought was a pie, only to find it was just a pile of nuts. I honestly can't imagine someone being happy with this pie. Unless they love plain pecan nuts.

delicious fruit tart! my friend brought one to a party so can't speak to in-store experience but i will stop by when i'm in east bay.

There are glass cases full of breads, cakes, eclairs, tarts and other delicious looking baked goods. On the top of the cases are jars with a variety of cookies to choose from, as well as, one of my favorites, their lemon shortbread bar. The lemon shortbread bar is amazing. They stack the wedges in a large lidded glass jar, each wedge separated with a sheet of white parchment paper. I believe this is one of the hidden gems at La Farine. The shortbread crust Is tender and buttery and hold holds it shape well when you bite into it. The lemon curd is creamy with the right amount of tang, and there is a thin sweet layer of crunch on top of curd that puts this bar over the top. The balance of textures and flavors is perfect. I also highly recommend the chocolate eclairs. Each one is filled with a generous amount of piped whipped cream, a pate choux with good flavor and texture, and topped with a rich, silky layer of chocolate ganache. Overall their prices are reasonable -lemon shortbread bar $3, and chocolate eclair 3.50. I decided to give La Farine four stars because on a previous visit I had a slice of the Moka cake, and was not impressed. It is an attractive and delicious looking cake with lovely pale moka colored frosting surrounding layers of dark chocolate cake, however, the frosting lacked the coffee and chocolate flavor combo that I was looking forward to, and sadly the frosting was more waxy than creamy. That being said, I will definitely be back to search for the next delicious gems at this very lovely bakery on Piedmont Ave.

I have tried a couple of their baked goods, which have always been good as well. They also have soups of the day, which I surprisingly haven't tried. If you're ordering more than 1 pizza, I'd recommend calling ahead of time so that you don't have to wait a while. There's typically 2 cashiers, always a small line, but you'd be in and out under 30 minutes max. No music, just the sounds of pure hustle trying to get everyone served.
