    Nice BIG cup
    Alicia P.

I'm really feeling like this is a 3-star spot here...my first time here years ago was probably a 2. The food nor the experience was any good. But last weekend, I thought I'd just give it another shot...and I was very pleasantly surprised. So, I walk in, up to the counter - because that's where you order your food and pay. Then you sit. But if the tables aren't bussed or cleaned, you'll need to ask to have something cleaned off for you. Then you wait and although you may have ordered coffee, you may not get it until the meal comes, so once I sat and no one brought me silverware or water or anything, I asked to have my coffee beforehand. The nice young girl said ok (she was very nice) but then she proceeded to clean off tables. Then, she went to the back of the counter and I thought I'd get my coffee (yay!) but instead, she came out again to wipe the tables down. Then, once that was all done, then I could have my coffee. I will say the coffee was in a nice BIG cup and was super tasty! I am enjoying this and watching the minimal traffic out the window ride by as I wait for my food. Then the food shows up and it looks fantastic! So I eat the soft, flaky, egg-filled croissant and it is VERY good! Much better than my previous visit so long ago... So on food and coffee taste alone, it's a 5 for a small, simple spot that I hope remains where it is and doesn't get run out like every other local, independent mom n pop shop in the area seems to be doing... I would say the cons, however, are no one came to ask me how my meal was, no one asked if I would like some water or anything else. In fact, when I wanted more coffee, I had to go up to the counter with my cup and ask for more. They were certainly nice about it and I enjoyed finishing that 2nd cup... But don't expect full service. Will I return? You betcha! Just be aware of what you are walking into. Now I know. :)

Cooks is a great local brunch spot. It is British-themed/inspired and has decorations to reflect that. The kitchen is charmingly homey and could be mistaken for a kitchen in a suburban house! I got the pancakes which came with a side of fresh fruit, and my girlfriend got the lox bagel. The pancakes were fluffy and thick, and the syrup tasted fresh. Overall, I loved the small-town atmosphere of cooks which is nestled deep in south tampa.

What an adorable little eatery on Gandy near Bayshore boulevard. The hubs and I were on our usual Saturday afternoon bike ride and decided to find a place to have lunch. Google Maps took us to this little gem where we had a wonderful lunch. The place is small, simple and has a home-cooked meal kind of vibe to it. The kitchen is open, they offer soup, sandwiches and salads. They also have dinner specials listed, which we plan on trying another time. Food was great, staff was very nice and I loved all the British decor of flags, royalty-themed books and the "Keep Calm, Carry On" items found throughout the space.

Treat counter, open kitchen where they cook.

The staff were so friendly and the food was great I loved the British decor and menu. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for breakfast or lunch, they are closed for dinner.

I've passed by this place countless times and never thought anything of it until a friend suggested going for lunch. It's a small place packed with a ton of goodies. They do breakfast, lunch, and have to-go options for dinner. There was a good list of sandwiches and salads that it was hard to decide. I opted for the roast beef sandwich and potato salad as my side. The sandwich came with very fresh tomato and lettuce, Dijon dressing, and tender roast beef. The potato salad was more of potato with dressing and it was fantastic. Nothing I've ever had before. It was a nice surprise to see that it came with a little lettuce salad too. They have a good selection of chips and candies you can choose too. My friend got the Coronation Chicken Salad, which she had said was her favorite. There's a British theme to it so some of the selections are things you wouldn't normally see, but I'd love to try some different things. I will definitely be back for lunches in the future!

Stopped this morning for a late breakfast, the pancakes are top tier, the fruit was incredibly fresh and diverse compared to what you normally expect. Bacon was cooked to perfection and the service was quaint and welcoming.

Cook's Kitchen is a delicious English restaurant and hidden gem in South Tampa! We stopped in for brunch and were able to find parking quickly; they've got a good amount of spots storefront and alongside of the building. If for some reason all the spots are taken, Bayshore Animal Clinic across the street has spots and they're closed on Sunday so you could park there in a pinch on Sundays. -The inside is nice. It isn't fancy but it's clean and smells great equipped with one gender-neutral bathroom. -The food quality was superb, came out in a fair amount of time, and was piping hot. -The service was great too. After we were served our food, one of the cashiers came by to check on us and refilled our coffees free of charge, which was appreciated.

Stopped in for a quick cup of coffee and they didn't disappoint. Coffee was hot, smooth and fresh. Scone was delicious with cream and jam served along side. Will definitely go back again!

I stopped in for a quick breakfast and ordered The Yankee (pastrami, scrambled egg whites, and cheese on an English muffin), a side of breakfast potatoes, and one of their cream cheese brownies. The standout was easily the breakfast sandwich. The English muffin was one of the best I've ever had. Fresh, soft, and clearly made with care. It was also a bit larger than your typical English muffin, and honestly, the bread was so good that I found myself taking the pastrami out and eating it separately because I enjoyed the egg, cheese, and muffin combination that much. If you're someone who loves an English muffin breakfast sandwich, this is worth trying for the bread alone. The cream cheese brownie was also excellent. I would absolutely order that again. The only real letdown was the breakfast potatoes. They were just okay and could have been much crispier. They were already a little soggy even though I picked my food up as soon as it was ready and ate it immediately, so it wasn't a case of the food sitting around. Service was friendly, but I was surprised by how long the food took considering the restaurant wasn't particularly busy and there were plenty of open seats. Overall, I can definitely see why Wright's has been a Tampa staple for so long.

I arrived around 2:20 p.m. and was let in by a worker at the front door, who told me they were closing shortly and suggested I head to the deli first if that was what I wanted. Once I walked in, however, a cashier yelled to me that they were closed. I was a little confused because I had just been let in by a worker who knew I was coming inside. From there, the experience felt a bit chaotic. There were quite a few people in the store, and I felt like the workers were very displeased by my presence. I honestly felt like I was a bother. I completely understand that I arrived close to closing, so I tried to be respectful of their time and rushed through the store to grab a few items. I had driven an hour to get there, so I wanted to at least make the most of the trip. When I went to check out, I initially got in one line, and the cashier was finishing up with the customer already there and directed me to another line, so I followed her instructions. I had a basket with my items and wasn't sure if I was supposed to empty it myself. There wasn't an obvious place to leave the empty basket, and the cashier never indicated that she would take it from me. I apologized and explained that it was my first time there. She told me that next time I should come during the week so I could browse more. As I was leaving, I noticed so many people trying to enter the store and being turned away because it was now past closing. That made me think Mazzaro's may want to reconsider its Saturday hours. They are clearly a very popular and well-known store, yet being open from only 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and being closed on Sundays makes it difficult for people who work typical Monday-Friday, full-time hours to visit. I take responsibility for not checking the hours before making the drive, and I understand that the employees were probably ready to go home. However, I still think there is a difference between enforcing closing time and making a customer feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, I did not feel warmly greeted or welcomed during my visit, and it put a damper on the entire experience.

Got the roast beef club on cuban bread, added mayo and pickles, and it was toasted to perfection. The roast beef was so rare and tender, the bacon was one of the best bacons I've ever had (insanely crispy but not oily, and maintained it's crispiness the entire meal even though I'm such a slow eater). The tomatoes and lettuce were firm--didn't squeeze out of the sandwich or make a mess. And I'm usually not a fan of pickles but it was so fresh and added a flavor to break up the meat + bread taste! The service was phenomenal. It's a family-owned restaurant and everyone is so nice. The guy who took my order was so patient and helpful (I was having major decision paralysis). Unfortunately, after my most recent experience, I won't be returning. I stopped in around 3:00 p.m. and was happy to see it wasn't busy. I went to the deli counter, waited for someone to serve me, ordered my chicken salad, grabbed a soda and chips, and headed to the open register. As I walked up, the cashier called another customer over ahead of me. I waited while he spent several minutes deciding whether to pay cash or by card because of the 4% card fee. I continued standing there with my three items, to the point that I actually set them down and debated walking out. Then, instead of helping me, the cashier motioned for an entire family to come to the registereven though I had been standing there waiting before they arrived. After that, she waved over another customer, and I had to wait while a mother and her two teenagers decided which desserts they wanted. Again, I stood there patiently. When it was finally my turn, there was no greeting, no "thank you for waiting," nothing. The first thing I was asked was, "Do you have a pickup order?" I said no. She then motioned for my chicken salad container, saying she needed it. I placed it on the scale and set my other items on the counter. The cashier then asked, "Are you okay?" I simply shook my head because, honestly, I wasn't. Instead of recognizing why I was frustrated, she continued talking, making comments, and escalating the interaction rather than simply ringing me up. At that point, I asked, "Do you want to argue? Do you want me to go back and forth with you?" I then asked who the manager was. She pointed to a woman beside her, who identified herself as the owner. I asked if she could ring me up instead. Even then, the cashier continued making comments. It was only after she continued engaging me that my voice became louder in response. Rather than addressing the repeated comments from her employee or asking what had happened, the owner immediately said, "Do not raise your voice at my employee." That response was disappointing. There was no concern for the customer experience, no apology for repeatedly being skipped in line, and no attempt to resolve the situation. There was also no acknowledgment that the interaction had been escalated by the cashier's continued remarks before I ever raised my voice. The irony is that I have spent a significant amount of money catering from Frankie's Deli over the years because my customers love the food. Good food will bring people in once. Great customer service keeps them coming back. Sadly, this experience ended that relationship for me. There are plenty of places with great food, but respect and customer service matter just as much. One final thought: this is Florida not NY. Hospitality goes a long way. The aggressive, dismissive attitude I experienced isn't what I expect when supporting a local business. I won't be back.
