Schiller's feels like family! The food is delicious, and service impeccable and you can always count on a smile from Elizabeth! If you want a taste of Germany, look no further than Schiller's!

Three of us stopped in for lunch (dine in) on a Saturday. They were pretty busy at the time but managed to take care of us fairly quickly. It's really more of a deli than a sit-down place to eat, but there are about 6 or so simple tables there. They have a wide variety of food (and great beers!!) to buy there. I ordered up the Bratwurst Reuben, and I was not disappointed. It came out piping hot and was delicious. Very filling! I'd certainly stop in again!

Little slice of heaven! Great German deli.

Little slice of heaven! Some of the world's best beers available by the bottle for on-premise consumption. Great menu of fresh sandwiches. Deli meats, cheeses, beers, mustards, curry ketchups, and accoutrements available as well. This is a must stop if you are a German food and beverage fan in Tampa. Or if not, stop in for some of the best sandwiches in town! Easy parking. Friendly staff. Do it!!

This is as authentic a German Deli as you will find in Florida. It serves a large number of sandwiches and side items. You can even get a platter of bratwurst or knackwurst with sides. There is a large selection of cold drinks and beer to have with your meal. I had the #18 Reuben-Yorker on grilled rye. It is filled with pastrami, corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss, cole slaw , and havarti cheese.. it was delicious. You can choose from several kinds of breads I had the regular size, which was more than enough. The super size is for big eaters. They have several sides such as potato salad, cole slaw, pickles etc. Part of the deli has a few tables and chairs to eat there. The other section is a small grocery of German items. They have German sausages, beers, packaged items such as candy, cookies, coffee, baked goods and some items I didn't recognize. They have their own parking lot.

    Italian Combo (almost meatless)

Thin sandwiches and bad service are the new norm. Schiller's is a S Tampa institution. Always short on ambiance, the food and service was what you came here for. I got two sandwiches. The Italian Combo was so light on meat, it was nowhere near the value of the $28 I spent for two 6 inch sandwiches. The guy who waited on me was dismissive of my request to quit heating my sandwich. Whatever he was doing in the back of the store, he was not remotely concerned with the front. Trying to run kids around and get everyone fed in the evening, I won't stop at Schiller's any longer.

What I really like; lots of German (and other European) goodies that can be purchased. From your mustard, candied to jams. Now the sandwiches are also great. One of the drawbacks - the service is slower and it takes time to get your order. But then it's a true delight. The feel inside is nothing special though.

There are so many sandwiches to choose from, but if you're going to get just one then it should be the Bratwurst Reuben (Sliced and grilled bratwurst, melted Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, mustard and thousand island on buttery grilled rye bread) with a side (ok a pound) of German potato salad. If you're going to order a second, the Schiller's U-Boat - get it, U-Boat... Submarine - (German cold cuts with smoked ham, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato -ask to add coleslaw). They even have a fridge filled with German beers, plus another fridge filled with sodas, Arizona iced tea, ginger beer, cold brew coffee... We loved this family- run deli. The guys behind the counter take pride in building your sandwich and again get the German potato salad, it goes great with their beer. They have a nice selection of German pantry items- cookies, cake mixes, spaetzle, jams, cases and six packs of beer. Grab some extra brats to go. So much to choose from.

The staff is friendly, helpful and always with a smile. Their sandwiches are all customizable and I really want to try breakfast one day here. Anyone to everyone can find something to eat off the menu. Any special occasion I will always say yes to a cake from here. I've had it for my 21st Birthday (2019) and my college graduation (2020) so far. Their chocolate cake is my FAVORITE cake of all time, and their red velvet and alpine is not to be slept on. There's a lot of seating and parking available as well. It's bright and comfortable, perfect for coming with a large group as well.

I stopped in for a quick breakfast and ordered The Yankee (pastrami, scrambled egg whites, and cheese on an English muffin), a side of breakfast potatoes, and one of their cream cheese brownies. The standout was easily the breakfast sandwich. The English muffin was one of the best I've ever had. Fresh, soft, and clearly made with care. It was also a bit larger than your typical English muffin, and honestly, the bread was so good that I found myself taking the pastrami out and eating it separately because I enjoyed the egg, cheese, and muffin combination that much. If you're someone who loves an English muffin breakfast sandwich, this is worth trying for the bread alone. The cream cheese brownie was also excellent. I would absolutely order that again. The only real letdown was the breakfast potatoes. They were just okay and could have been much crispier. They were already a little soggy even though I picked my food up as soon as it was ready and ate it immediately, so it wasn't a case of the food sitting around. Service was friendly, but I was surprised by how long the food took considering the restaurant wasn't particularly busy and there were plenty of open seats. Overall, I can definitely see why Wright's has been a Tampa staple for so long.

I arrived around 2:20 p.m. and was let in by a worker at the front door, who told me they were closing shortly and suggested I head to the deli first if that was what I wanted. Once I walked in, however, a cashier yelled to me that they were closed. I was a little confused because I had just been let in by a worker who knew I was coming inside. From there, the experience felt a bit chaotic. There were quite a few people in the store, and I felt like the workers were very displeased by my presence. I honestly felt like I was a bother. I completely understand that I arrived close to closing, so I tried to be respectful of their time and rushed through the store to grab a few items. I had driven an hour to get there, so I wanted to at least make the most of the trip. When I went to check out, I initially got in one line, and the cashier was finishing up with the customer already there and directed me to another line, so I followed her instructions. I had a basket with my items and wasn't sure if I was supposed to empty it myself. There wasn't an obvious place to leave the empty basket, and the cashier never indicated that she would take it from me. I apologized and explained that it was my first time there. She told me that next time I should come during the week so I could browse more. As I was leaving, I noticed so many people trying to enter the store and being turned away because it was now past closing. That made me think Mazzaro's may want to reconsider its Saturday hours. They are clearly a very popular and well-known store, yet being open from only 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and being closed on Sundays makes it difficult for people who work typical Monday-Friday, full-time hours to visit. I take responsibility for not checking the hours before making the drive, and I understand that the employees were probably ready to go home. However, I still think there is a difference between enforcing closing time and making a customer feel unwelcome. Unfortunately, I did not feel warmly greeted or welcomed during my visit, and it put a damper on the entire experience.

Unfortunately, after my most recent experience, I won't be returning. I stopped in around 3:00 p.m. and was happy to see it wasn't busy. I went to the deli counter, waited for someone to serve me, ordered my chicken salad, grabbed a soda and chips, and headed to the open register. As I walked up, the cashier called another customer over ahead of me. I waited while he spent several minutes deciding whether to pay cash or by card because of the 4% card fee. I continued standing there with my three items, to the point that I actually set them down and debated walking out. Then, instead of helping me, the cashier motioned for an entire family to come to the registereven though I had been standing there waiting before they arrived. After that, she waved over another customer, and I had to wait while a mother and her two teenagers decided which desserts they wanted. Again, I stood there patiently. When it was finally my turn, there was no greeting, no "thank you for waiting," nothing. The first thing I was asked was, "Do you have a pickup order?" I said no. She then motioned for my chicken salad container, saying she needed it. I placed it on the scale and set my other items on the counter. The cashier then asked, "Are you okay?" I simply shook my head because, honestly, I wasn't. Instead of recognizing why I was frustrated, she continued talking, making comments, and escalating the interaction rather than simply ringing me up. At that point, I asked, "Do you want to argue? Do you want me to go back and forth with you?" I then asked who the manager was. She pointed to a woman beside her, who identified herself as the owner. I asked if she could ring me up instead. Even then, the cashier continued making comments. It was only after she continued engaging me that my voice became louder in response. Rather than addressing the repeated comments from her employee or asking what had happened, the owner immediately said, "Do not raise your voice at my employee." That response was disappointing. There was no concern for the customer experience, no apology for repeatedly being skipped in line, and no attempt to resolve the situation. There was also no acknowledgment that the interaction had been escalated by the cashier's continued remarks before I ever raised my voice. The irony is that I have spent a significant amount of money catering from Frankie's Deli over the years because my customers love the food. Good food will bring people in once. Great customer service keeps them coming back. Sadly, this experience ended that relationship for me. There are plenty of places with great food, but respect and customer service matter just as much. One final thought: this is Florida not NY. Hospitality goes a long way. The aggressive, dismissive attitude I experienced isn't what I expect when supporting a local business. I won't be back.
