This place can be a little hidden because of its location next to the trolley stop but inside the ambiance is wonderful, the menu has coffee options for everyone including hot, iced and blended, as well as a small menu featuring artisan sandwiches. Since the shop shares their parking lot with the stop, it may seem intimidating but there are definitely spots. You may want to consider street parking on times or days where trolley commute is at it's peak. Once you're inside you find a quaint coffee shop with very Instagram worthy items. The employees are nice and gracious and service was good. I ordered an Iced Green Tea and they made it to order. If you're planning on doing work here, it can be a bit loud with the machines running.But always, bring headphones as the conversations of other patrons can echo and sound louder. Not too many options for outlets from I can see, so I more enjoy reading here instead. It's a place worth checking out to rest and get a refreshing drink if you come across this place. read more

This coffee is amazing! In the few weeks we were in town, we went out of our way to come here for the genuinely friendly service, great food, and relaxed atmosphere. The destroyer breakfast sandwich was packed with flavor and had all the right textures, I didn't think they could top this until I tried a muffin. The blueberry muffin had a 3:1 muffin top ratio and smelled so amazing It barely made it back to the car with me. Most importantly the frappes had that perfect creamy consistency that's usually so elusive at coffee shops. read more

Visited this place for the first time on Saturday. It was so cute and welcoming inside. There was someone working on their laptop, a couple planning out the rest of their day, and a young woman waiting for her coffee. I ordered the Destroyer on a sesame bagel and a Pavo on the Run on a jalapeño bagel. It's normally on wheat bread, but they were nice enough to switch it for me. The man who took my order was so friendly! The food was good and the Destroyer was huge, living up to its name. Finished it off with a delicious raspberry muffin! read more

Felt like getting a breakfast sandwich and iced coffee today. Came across a coffee shop located off E Street in Chula Vista at the trolley station. As I entered, I noticed a large lounge area with random memorabilia such as bicycles hanging from the wall and surfboards accenting certain areas of the shop. There was large couch in the lounge area and the place just had a nice quiet vibe. It was my first time at the shop but knew I wanted a breakfast sandwich. I asked the staff member what did he recommend for bagel and he suggested a jalapeño bagel. I didn't catch his name but he was very nice. I also wanted an iced coffee and asked for his suggestions. Since I like sweet stuff, he nicely recommended a hazelnut iced coffee which was very good. It wasn't too sweet which I liked. As soon as I arrived home, I began eating the sandwich. The jalapeño bagel was the perfect pairing for the sandwich I got. It added just the right amount of spice to the flavors of the cheese, mayo, egg and meat. I've only had food and drinks here a few times, so I can't comment much on that. I'm sure it's fine. However, the owner is a prime example of religious intolerance. He asked me whether or not I believed in the existence of Hell, and I instead told him i didn't, going on to explain my spiritual beliefs. (None of his business, but i thought at the time we were having a friendly conversation.) He then said "that's terrible!" and proceeded to lecture me on Christ dying for our sins, judgment day, etc. Then he said I'm going to Hell for my beliefs and told me that if I died that day he couldn't give me "the good news". He owns the place, and therefore his job is to serve the coffee, etc. It's not to go around preaching his religion to the customers. read more

A great place to sit and have a conversation with a friend. Plenty of seating. Parking wasn't a problem at all. They have high quality of coffee, really good! & the barista that helped us at the front was a very nice gentleman! He made sure i get my coffee with the artsy. Which was awesome. We were on our way to san Diego n stopped for some cappuccino here, which was really good. Considering this is at a trolly station I was shocked when I learned the coffee was so good! They serve Virtuoso which is an excellent coffee roaster from Barrio Logan. Very relaxing spot with instagrammable features. Parking is wide open mostly since it's in the trolley parking lot. I had ordered the original cool down which is a basic bagel breakfast sandwich. It was like $5.30 but I wish it had a little more pizazz - see picture. Very spacious setting for small or large parties. Drinks all looked really good I just didn't get one today. I could see myself coming here again. Great place for a coffee! When I walked in the smell of coffee was heavenly. I ordered a Iced White Chocolate Mocha to-go and was able to redeem the 15% yelp check in offer with no problem. My total was just three bucks and change and the writing on the cup was cute. Inside they have a decent sitting area with couches and chairs. Nothing fancy, but cozy for sure. The coffee is organic and ground fresh daily. I really enjoyed the taste of my white mocha and will make the point to stop by again when I'm in the area. Aside from coffee they also have smoothies, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, bagels and pastries on the menu. Definitely a place worth stopping by for coffee. read more

Visited Alex's Cool Down Coffee shop for the 1st time since opening up at his relocated spot! Was a regular of his when he had his small coffee shop in Eastlake. So happy for Alex for his new (well, not so new as he's been here for a year now)! Just sad that it's taken me so long to finally visit there again... Ordered a "Cool Down Breakfast sandwich (jalapeño bagel, scrambled eggs, ham, Swiss cheese, & mayo) and a large hot Cafe Americano w/ half & half. Breakfast sandwich was served hot & fresh and was delicious, my Americano was very reasonably priced (less than $3). Both for less than $8 with tax. Chula Vista's been needing a non-franchise mom & pop coffee shop on the west side for a while! Alex has a very accessible coffee shop right next to the trolley stop at I-5 & E St! Come down and visit! The dining area is nice, clean, could use a few more seating, but the ambiance is nice and Alex & his wife are the friendliest folks you'll ever come across. read more

Very cool place and very easy location to get to. Right next to the trolley station and a big parking lot. Definitely the best QUALITY of coffee in the area. They offer a different organic brew weekly, which has me sold. I love the taste of coffee alone and theirs is fresh and not burnt tasting. Clean and cozy ambiance and your beverage is served to you with a smile. The owners are there daily and are truly kind and appreciative of each customer. This place is amazing. I'd forgotten what it was like to drink a real chai latte, I got used to the watered down drivel available pretty much every few blocks.
