My home was built in 1968 and the electrical main run and panel were "vintage" and no longer up to code. During a recent inspection it was strongly recommended that if I ever intend to sell, the system would need to be upgraded in order for a new buyer to get a mortgage. Cool Today has maintained my HVAC and plumbing for years, and always provided GREAT service, and their electrical team was AWESOME! Professional, courteous, completely rebuilt my electrical system from the TECO feed to a new mast, new meter, new main run, and new upgraded panel, with built in surge protector. AC was starting to not cool as good after the cold season so I called Cool Today. Cool Today answered on a late Friday and was able to schedule for the following Saturday. After explaining the situation and asking for a technician to come complete a service check, the call agent recommended I have a "seasonal tuneup" completed as this would both cover an inspection and was on sale. During the visit: The AC tech kept telling me he can do 22 point inspection but may not find the problem. I watch him along way and after he said he was done and proceeded to sell me close to $1000 of electrical needs and a freon fill, he said no guarantee this would work if there is a Freon leak and someone else would have to come out and check for this, another cost of course. I then had to remind him he didn't complete the flush and clean of the lines and coil. So he ask me for hot water and a funnel! So he wasn't going to do the work but then I had to supply him what he needed!? After he left I opened the unit myself and also found that he didn't straighten the fins as noted on the website, in complete work again! Also didn't see him lubricate anything. I am thoroughly disappointed in my experience with Cool Today and the customer service I have received. My air-conditioning unit is only six months old, and within the first six months of having this system, my kitchen flooded due to what appears to be a faulty installation issue with the overflow switch. Based on the pictures from the installation, we believe the overflow switch was improperly installed and did not function as it should have. Instead of taking accountability and seriously addressing the issue, Cool Today is attempting to place the blame on me because my six-month check-in was a couple of weeks late. That is completely unacceptable. To be clear, this unit is only six months old. If the system was installed correctly, my kitchen should not have flooded. Cool Today's position seems to be that if I had completed the six-month checkup exactly on time, they would have caught the faulty installation. That only reinforces my concern that the installation was not done properly in the first place. I was also not clearly informed during the sales or installation process that a six-month maintenance visit was required. I was told that maintenance was generally needed once a year to protect the warranty. None of the paperwork I currently have clearly states that I was required to have a six-month checkup in order to avoid being blamed for property damage caused by an installation issue. Even more frustrating, I have received inconsistent information from Cool Today representatives. When I asked about the six-month check-in, I spoke with the account manager, Kathy, who stated that customers are not reminded and that it is the customer's responsibility to remember what they were told during installation. However, when the field representative came out after we called to report that the overflow switch appeared to be broken, he stated that Cool Today does call customers. These conflicting explanations only add to my concern that the company is trying to shift responsibility rather than provide clear, consistent, and accountable customer service. This has not been my only concern with Cool Today. The sales process was not a good experience; the UV light was not installed properly and had to be corrected; the maintenance requirements were not clearly explained; and now I am dealing with property damage from what appears to be another installation failure. The most disappointing part is the lack of accountability. Rather than trying to make this right, Cool Today has made me feel like they are looking for a technicality to avoid responsibility. As a customer who purchased a brand-new system, I expected professionalism, quality installation, clear communication, and support when something went wrong. That has not been my experience. At this point, I am requesting that Cool Today escalate this matter to senior management, review the original installation photos, explain in writing why the overflow switch failed to prevent the flooding, and take responsibility for the property damage caused by this issue. I am also requesting written documentation showing where I was clearly informed that a six-month check-in was required and that missing it by a short period of time would result in Cool Today denying responsibility for damage related to installation concerns. We purchased a top-of-the-line system from Cool Today less than two years ago. After a routine maintenance check, the compressor intermittently stopped working. The temperature here is in the 90s with a dew point of 78. We have spent three days with a technician, spending hours here, and it is still not functioning. Worst company I have dealt with for customer service and trying to up-sell. Last week Cool Today cancelled last minute and promised first appointment (8:00 AM) today after I complained about scheduling around a four hour window for the technician to arrive last week. Today received a call from the tech at 10:15 AM acknowledging the appointment was for first call with no explanation why the appointment was not honored. I would give them a zero stars if I could. Their communication is horrible. I was scheduled for HVAC work to be accomplished today. They always give you an absurd time window for their arrival which mine was 12 - 4. I never heard anything from them, I didn't get a call from the technician until 6:45 PM with his excuse as to why he was running so late not to mention he was over an hours drive away from my house. I can't believe their dispatch didn't reach out to let me know when they knew the technician was running so late, also why would you schedule your technicians jobs so far apart. This just highlights the levels of incompetence with how this place is being run. I am still disappointed that this company bought out EasyAc. I never had issues with them. Called plumber for a few jobs. Did great on snaking out kitchen sink and quoted me on bath/shower faucet replacement for 1800.00 which was steep but we were on a time crunch so booked it. When plumber came out a few days later, he stated that he may be able to repair the old faucet parts, wanting to send me to a plumbing hardware store that had been closed for over a year and a half. (More time wasted). I asked how much and he said the same 1800. I told him the scope of work changed, why was the quote the same? I was quoted 1800 for a new faucet install. He said he thought about it and would need 4000.00 for the new faucet and it would be cheaper to call bath masters and have a whole new shower stall put in. My wife told him we were on a time line because we needed to sell the house and get back to Texas, he told my wife we may need to just sell the house as is. I guess he is a realtor expert too. When arriving at the empty shut down store that he sent me to, I called and told the company that their services were not needed. Needless to say the service and outcome of this particular job was terrible. Still not fixed and he wasted precious time that we could have had another company fix the issue already. We have officially been without A/C in Siesta Key for over a month due to Cool Today's incompetence and shoddy equipment they sold us. We had a brand new unit installed in January of this year. In July it failed. They came out promptly to fix it under warranty. No luck, "bad board, need to order new one, we'll make it ASAP because we know how hot it is." Heat and humidity spiked before the replacement, so we asked for a dehumidifier to be loaned to us. The said no, can't do that, but we'll reimburse if you buy one (we'll see when that happens.) On August 8 they had the part and came back. Tech couldn't get it to work, blamed the new board saying "box was opened so can't be sure it was new, but doesn't work. We need to order a new one and wil make it ASAP". Now its August 27 after a very hot July August. No ETA on a fix of a defective brand new unit. Unbelievable! read more

Wouldn't recommend this business to anyone, residential or commercial. Their technicians are clearly lazy and they overcharge after doing sub-par work. We hired Cool Today to come fix a broken faucet neck at our shop, there were some other issues with the sink overall, but that was the main issue we mentioned. The tech suggested replacing that part. We said okay, he left to get the part, came back and attached it. It was $500. When we came back to check the work, he had literally only screwed on the replacement piece. The rest of the sink was still not working properly and hadn't even been checked since he didn't mention anything else. The replacement piece they used is $75 from the manufacturer. When we called to talk to a manager, they couldn't provide a breakdown of costs and said the remaining $440 was for the "2 hours he was there". He agreed to send the tech back out to look at it and finish fixing it and gave us a credit for future service. The tech, Alan, came back and claims the sink is "worse than it was before"... which is not true, it's the exact same, he just didn't look at it before. And said he can't fix it and needs to replace the whole thing. Either we can buy the parts ourselves for $370 and they'll install for $190 (would be $390 but we have a "$200 credit") or if they provide the part, they'll do it for $390, (after offering a $300 credit if we went this route). I'm not a mathematician, but providing sub-par service, not fully fixing a problem that they're supposedly experts in, and then suggesting the customer pay over $900 ($1200 before the "discount" for bad service) for something that should have cost $500 from the get go, doesn't quite add up. read more

So I paid over $6000 for a brand new air conditioner the installation all that went fantastic! Less than a year later, the condenser! went out. Had to have it replaced. They charge you $289 even though it's under warranty to come and fix it. Less than four months later, the same part went out I called them up. They said they couldn't come out for four days. My husband is in his late 60s. He cannot handle this heat nor can I. I told the lady I was gonna have to get somebody else and she said I could put in a claim called another company within an hour. They came out.! Same part same problem. They said it was a bad part that cost me almost $400. Call them up and asked to put in a claim asked to have The Manager call me back. I waited and waited and waited by the phone for hours no reply. The next couple of days they call my husband, even though, it was a license and a and insured and reputable company that came out because we didn't have them come out on their terms. They were not honoring it. Shame do not use them bad bad service. They will not return your phone calls charge you even though you have #Warranty in your pay over $6000 for something and have a part that is less than four months old, what happened to customer service I will never buy another air conditioner again my last air conditioner lasted 16 years. I wish I could give negative stars! We had a complete new air conditioning system installed by Cool Today on 10/16/21 & financed the $15,332 cost. At the time, the salesman talked my husband & me into the most expensive system saying the unit, maintenance plus all service would be covered for 10 years. We hadn't had air conditioning for 24 hours & were pretty desperate at the time. We didn't realize that service & maintenance was not actually covered until the next year when we scheduled maintenance. At that time, the technician tried to sell us the service package for future services/maintenance (that the salesman had told us would be covered). We have had Cool Today out to maintain the system as directed since, most recently on 3/26/24. We would have never purchased the most expensive system had we known; we financed it thinking we wouldn't have any a/c problems for at least 10 years. Last Friday night we noticed water streaming down our walls (video & pics attached). My husband called Cool Today's emergency phone number & the representative was excessively rude not to mention no help. She did, however, say that she would put in a service ticket & we would receive a call back. After this happened there was water damage to our ceiling by our bedroom, the baseboards & the wall. On Saturday night, without receiving any calls from Cool Today, we heard a loud "woosh" & water started flowing down the walls at the other end of the hallway. My husband again called the Cool Today emergency number, but we did not receive a call back. The walls in this area are completely rippled, damaged & ruined (video & pics attached). There is even more extensive damage & we are now also concerned about mold. When we had not heard from Cool Today by late morning on Monday, I went to their website and scheduled an appointment. A technician came out & spent hours up in our attic as well as on the phone in his van. He told us that he was unable to figure out why we had water running down the walls but told us there was algae in our service drain line and drain pan, which he cleaned out. He then tried to sell us a $279 service to chemically treat the drain line. He also told us not to turn the air conditioner back on until someone from management at Cool Today could assess the damage, even though the temperatures are almost at 100 degrees. The technician also told us he had spoken to a manager & we would receive a call first thing on Tuesday & that nothing could be scheduled since it was after 5:0pm. When we didn't receive a call from anyone from Cool Today by Tuesday late-morning, I called the main line. The gentleman that answered checked our records & told me there was nothing in the technician's notes saying anything about someone from their office calling us. He then put me on an almost 20-minute hold when Quality Control got on the line. The agent seemed shocked when I said the technician had indicated that a manager would call us Tuesday morning & would schedule a time to come out. She listened to my story & put me another hold. She then got back on the line & said that all managers were in a meeting, but she would call me back. When I asked her when I could expect a call back, she seemed to change her mind & said she would send a technician. A few hours later two new technicians came to look at the system & damage. Once they were done, they told my husband that we now need new duct work, even though the technician on Monday night said he didn't know why we had water running down the walls. They said with a discount that it would cost $2,781 & there are financing options. Are you kidding me???!!! Purchased a Carrier heat pump to replace a forced hot air furnace & a/c. The installation was a nightmare. It took 2 crews over 96 hours to just get it into working condition. They do very sloppy work. Installed plumbing directly on top of our air ducts in the attic, cut the thermostat wire, didn't cap the gas line, installed plumbing that blocked the access panel on the air handler, etc. They refused to return phone calls or emails. Requested AC repair. They found a hole in the coil and suggested replacing. So, I had them replace it. The installer put the coil in on the wrong slope which meant the system didn't drain and water backed up into the inlet duct. After a couple attempts at fixing the slope, I was told there was a cracked drain pan, which was not cracked before the coil replacement and had ti be ordered. Now I have water damage to my garage ceiling and completely soaked insulation inside the unit and still no fix after a few weeks. I was also told that I had to "keep on the office" because they don't always follow through. $3,000.00, stress, and water damage. You've been warned. read more

This is a review for the SARASOTA BRANCH Having a maintenance contract was helpful, until we had a serious issue! Had the techs out 3 times in 2 week period. All were super awesome! Last visit had a pressure test and a leak was revealed in receiver coils. Then we realized we needed to eval a new unit VS. Repair($1600.00) No A/C all last week and over this past weekend. Horrible! Last Wednesday Vince, the salesman came to see us and was there 3 hours telling us all our options for replacement. His bids varied from $7800.00- $9000.00 for a 2.5 ton residential unit. No piping, no plumbing nothing else but putting it in. Spoke to a neighbor, he got his 3 ton unit from Cool Today 4 months ago. He paid $5700.00 and got all the bells and whistles! I decided to call Vince the "salesman" to find out how the heck this could be possible?? He was SO offended and rude. Over talking us, making excuses. I was at Home Depot and Cool Today offered a $19 complete ac checkup. what a mistake that was!! The guy came out and gave us a complete 100% on everything he checked. Our air conditioner was in perfect condition since we bought the house 3 years ago. But since we were in the process of selling the house a good review would reassure the new buyers. Well, 2 days later NO AIR!! We called in a panic and the guy on the phone said if you'd just stop your ranting I said we come out there today for no charge. Terrible company! Save yourself time and lots of frustration and avoid them. I booked a simple A/C tune up and confirmed the appointment the day before by text message. I waited all day and no one showed up and no one bothered to call. I called them after 4:00pm and asked if they were still coming or what happened. The person said - Yes the technician was still coming and I was next Appointment up. At 4:30pm a different guy called me and said technician would NOT be coming today for the scheduled appointment. He assured me however that we would be first in the morning and no one would bump me and they will be here between 8:00-10:00 for sure. He would make sure of it. Next morning came and guess what no one came and no one called. I had to call them again and this time I was told a technician would be here around 12:00 noon. FACT - they never came for originally scheduled appointment and wasted my entire day. FACT - I called them and they said they were still coming but did not come. Fact - I was promised we were first appointment the next morning and assured We would not be bumped or delayed. They would be here for sure between 8-10 at latest. Fact - they never showed and never called. FACT - I called them again and was told technician was scheduled for around 12pm. What a joke. Wasted 1 and 1/2 days for a simple AC tune up. Just Brutal! bought a brand new a/c exactly 3 years ago. had a problem about 2 weeks later. then they had to install another thermostat. signed up for a maintenance agreement. tech came out twice a year to inspect the a/c. I told the tech that it wasn't cooling the house very well. I was told on more than 6 occasions that it was because it was so hot out. I explained tay some days it was fine and other days it wasn't, even though the temp outside was the same. they kept blowing me off. Then I had one of their plumbers come out and quote me 1200.00 to fix a pipe that another reputable plumber fixed for 209.00. I cancelled my maintenance agreement. which brings us to this week, A/C stopped working. called a reputable company, the service manager and tech come out and they open the unit and what do they find? a moldy box with some kind of coils inside that has been left inside my unit for THREE YEARS. all the techs that came out from Cool Today, they never saw it. it was restricting air flow. we have been 4 days without a/c, while waiting for a new blower motor. my husband and I have very serious health issues and will probably end up in the ER. there is no excuse for this. very aggressive service techs. told we needed an entire new unit, sales was high pressure and against my better judgment went with them. the installation was Done May 20, 2023. 5 months later an issue with the drain and system shut down. again a very aggressive tech and first thing out of his mouth was it was our fault and needed a new drain pan at $59. system has still not had its final inspection from lake county. this company continues to drop the ball, very poor communication and absolutely no follow through with anything they promise will be done. Unfortunately I have had to take to the internet to express my displeasure with this company and their service. I had been with them for many years when under different ownership and operating under the name Easy Cool A/C and that company by far outshone the current outfit with their level of customer service. Now under the current ownership, I purchased a $10K Carrier split unit from them in the summer of 2018 when my old unit finally broke after nearly 18yrs service. Living in Tampa where the winters are short and mild, I never had the need to use the furnace until the second winter and when I hit the button to activate it, nothing worked. I contacted the company about it as clearly it could not have been working at installation but they failed to accept that there must have been a problem especially considering that the very day they installed the new unit, the entire unit failed to operate and they diagnosed a faulty motherboard and I had to wait four days in the heat for a replacement to be ordered and shipped. Now after several trips, they again claimed I need a motherboard and/or gas valve and want me to pay a labor charge of over $1K for "repairs" for a job they failed to do well in the first place. I have even now had a supervisor question my integrity over the phone when I again stressed that the furnace has never once fired up all in the presence of a technician who was standing with me and who told him that he can verify that a flame has never hit the chamber as the igniter and everything in the unit was crystal clean. Nonetheless, they refuse to admit that the unit is a lemon and are sticking to their "1yr warranty on labor" whilst blaming me the consumer that it was my fault for not checking the unit before the warranty had expired. I have gone as far as writing (email) to the head of their company but unsurprisingly, I have gotten zero response. Please help me spread the word on their awful service. read more

After years of dealing with cut throat AC companies, a friend recommended a family-owed company by the name of Alert. We tried them and were immediately pleased. They were responsive and reasonably priced. We subscribed to their maintenance program for several years. Unfortunately, they were bought out by a bigger company and things changed. I was on a business trip when our AC unit went out. My wife was advised over the phone to trip the breaker and let it reset. When she turned it back on, it would not hold so I had her photograph the breaker, and buy a replacement, and then ask Cool Today to simply swap it out to complete their test. She was told over the phone that they would be happy to change it when they came. When they did, they told here they would charge $170 for the change (that is NOT a typo...for a 5 minute job!). That put me in the position of paying the $170 or trying to explain to my wife over the phone how do it for the first time. Given the risks for her, I had no choice and agreed to pay. But I am done with these people; I even refused to have them on my property for the last annual checkup. We switched to a small family-owned business, bought the new AC from them and are very pleased. STAY AWAY FROM THESE JERKS! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would have! I called these guys to help my 90 year old Mom, who lives on her own. Her A/C had stopped running. She was given an "appointment window", from noon till 6:00 pm. The guy finally arrived at 9:10 pm! He told my Mom that there were all kinds of "issues" with her A/C unit, so my Mom had him call me to explain. The guy tells me that there is a "bad component", but could not elaborate. He also told me that the "fan motor" was bad. He also said that the unit was "dirty", and needed to have an expensive ultraviolet light installed, to fix the problem. Fortunately, I live nearby - I told the guy not to do anything, I'll be right there. Once I arrived, I explained to the guy that the bad fan motor story was not true, because the motor had just been replaced 3 months ago. When I inquired about the "bad component", turns out that there was not a bad component. I also told him we didn't need an ultraviolet light installed, because I'd simply wipe down the small "dirty" spot with bleach and water. After all of that, the repair was very simple ... the drain pipe had backed up, and all it needed was a shop vac to clean out the line, which took less than 10 minutes. In total, the guy was there for 45 minutes, we needed no parts whatsoever, and the charge? Over $500.00!! After yelling at the guy in dismay, I was finally able to talk with someone from the office, and told him how ridiculous the charges were. After arguing him him for 1/2 hour, I was able to get the bill reduced down to $333.25. Again, that was for 45 minutes, with no parts required. What an absolute ripoff ... that's almost $500.00 per hour! If I wasn't available that night, to go over to my Moms' house, who knows how much this guy would have charged her!!!
