Just got home from this wine store and had a great experience. Staff were helpful without being pushy: I didn't feel like they were trying to sell me the most expensive bottle. They have a great range of wine at different price points (many under $15/$20 and expensive ones too). All prices were clearly marked. I basically told them what I was making for dinner and they made a few suggestions. Seems the staff here drink the wine they sell and have a genuine passion for what they do. Use to be great. Decent selection of beer but hard to get help or advice. Got rid of the tap. A bit pricey but that's expected. Most their beers don't have prices listed.....likely because if you saw the price you wouldn't buy it. It use to be better than jersey wine and spirits. Jersey wine and spirits on jersey avenue has better pricing and a better changing selection. read more

Great organic and biodynamic wine selections and knowledgeable staff. Good ice cream, chocolates and other treats too.

I came in a few weeks ago and I cannot get the beverages suggested to me, and the amazing employee who guided me through the amazing selection out of my head! I should have posted this earlier, but having time to truly compare that experience to many others has left me unbelievably grateful to my guide Bell and Coolvines! First off, I have the oddest taste in beer. I'm not a fan of IPAs, stouts or anything currently popular among my peers. After hearing my taste Bell directed me to some of the best beers I've currently tasted. Thank you for having a selection that meets EVERYONES needs, and such knowledgeable staff that can pinpoint someone's preferences from a mile away. This is for their new location. I live close by so I'm in there pretty frequently. 3 separate times I've experienced incredibly rude customer service. It's almost like they know they have a lock down on the area so they could care less about customer service. One time the young man who rang me up literally didn't acknowledge me for the entire transaction despite me saying hello and thank you. They are also insanely expensive. I try to frequent Jersey Wines and Spirits more often as they are more reasonably priced and are super nice. read more

The wine is overpriced for wine that is frankly nothing above average. They are conveniently located if you could ever find parking! There are plenty of places that have a better selection, better prices and parking within walking distance...save some money, time and gas and go somewhere else!! read more

I'm so glad this place opened up! It's much better than Jersey Wines - which for years was the best game in town. I'm very selective about my wine and these guys just get it. They're super friendly and always remember me. They've also offered suggestions that are so on point. I wish they were closer to my apartment for easy, last minute access, but totally worth the time it takes to walk there. Perfectly decent store that tries too hard to be different. That being said, they have the friendliest staff of any liquor store I have ever been to! The beer selection is curated solely on what companies are producing the craziest labels the week regardless of whether or not it is drinkable. Their stock includes nothing but the craziest of label beer, and Narragansett (because apparently that's cool now...) I'm really just bitter because I like my Brooklyn, Dogfishhead, and Ommegang and I can't get any of those brands in DTJC anymore. The whiskey selection is fantastic, I wish they had a few good options under $35 (they do exist!) but when I feel like buying a good bottle, they have all the options. Anyhow, go here if you want nice people to sell you beer as art, good whiskey, and maybe good wine (I don't drink Wine, so let's assume their wine is awesome!). read more

Everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great selection of craft beers and an awesome selection of wine. They also do tastings every Friday and Saturday! I haven't been disappointed in one recommendation yet and I've probably been here more than I'd like to admit lol! I'll be back next week to stock up for a party! read more

I'm thrilled that this shop opened. Their selection of well-curated, well-priced wines and craft beers is truly wonderful, and I've learned quite a bit from their weekly complimentary tastings. The owners are great at suggesting wine pairings, and are really good about describing each wine's attributes -- they really, really know their stock well. I recently had a fantastic wine at a restaurant in Nashville, and I was hopeful that CoolVines could get it for me. Not only did they have it, but they had the same vintage! What a lucky break. Especially since they moved to their new, huge space, this place is the kind of local, independent wine shop you want to have in your neighborhood. I love their written descriptions of many of the wines and they way they categorize things. They have a huge selection of value wines, but not like the crap you'll find in more generic liquor stores. Be prepared to find total gems which you'll love and be coming back to buy again and again like I did. They do have some pricier wines, but I rarely spend more than $20/bottle here, and I sometimes spend as little as $11. Add to that, the staff is great too, and the space is so huge now, you feel like you can linger for a while. I can't say enough great things about this place. read more

Really nice place. It stands out from the outside and it's very enticing. The white exterior and the "cool vines" logo both look refreshing My bf and I were looking to buy wine to make Sangria. We knew we would be paying a premium at a place like this, but we walked in anyway. The place is a lot smaller than I expected, but they have a great selection. They mostly have wine, but there's some beer in the back as well. The prices are actually pretty decent. I thought they would be more pricey, but you can get a solid bottle of wine for $20. Overall, great place and I'll definitely be back! read more

Nice local wine shop. Perfect for hitting the local BYOBs or a bottle in a pinch. Selection is limited due the size and the prices are higher - but you're paying for convenience. Service is friendly. What bumps it up to 4 stars is they carry some hard to find items like Creme de Violette, etc, and the quality of their spirit selection. read more

Other than Thirsty Quaker, this is the only other wine, beer, and spirits shop in town to bother with. Lot's of good things to say about it, so bear with me. I love the way they organize their wines. It takes a second to get used to, but it favors style and price organization over geography. For a guy like me this is handy. When I walk into a shop that's organized primarily by region I gravitate towards Italy and rarely make it out. This way, an Italian wine I like might be next to a wine from a different region and hence it nudges me outside of my comfort zone, keeps me from boring myself. Same goes for variety -- if you want your fall back Cabernet or Pinot Grigios they have them, but they'll be right next to wines fermented in amphorae or funky natural wines from small producers. They're experiencing a little growing pains coming from their smaller location across the street, but in general there is usually someone there to answer your questions and/or help you push yourself outside of your comfort zones. Regardless, staff is very friendly. Beer and liquor are not an afterthought either. Tons of great stuff. They sell prepared food at the new shop as well. From the looks of it they're supporting local small businesses in this section, which is great. Excited to see where they take this. JC needs a good cheese monger. Crazy we don't have one. Hope they move in that direction too. read more

Good selections but some of the staff are SO pretentious and down right rude! The guy doing the wine tasting was definitely pompous and arrogant and the cashier didn't even say thank you for my purchase! Cool Vines has a decent selection, and is in a convenient location (for me at least). Staff is mostly friendly and knowledgeable. The only downfall I have experienced so far was with the wine tastings. Last week, I came in around 7:45pm on a Friday to sample the featured wine. I was turned away because "the bottle had run out". In my past experiences with wine tastings, the tasting continues until the designated end time, and not when the only bottle runs out. Maybe they should change the chalk sign outside from "Wine Tasting 6pm - 9pm" to instead read "Wine Tasting begins at 6pm and ends when the one bottle is empty". Just saying... read more

Very cute wine store. We love the tastings on Friday nights and Saturdays. The staff is very knowledgeable and all the wines we have bought we have liked. We will probably join their wine club as well. Mostly unique wines you don't see at the larger stores. read more
