We chose Cooper's Hawk for our celebration dinner after our marriage ceremony and came as a party of five. The food was outstanding. We ordered several appetizers and entrées, and everything was a hit--especially the drunken shrimp, crispy Brussels sprouts, and the Caesar salad. The Caesar pesto dressing was so unique and absolutely incredible. I ordered the gnocchi alla vodka (without the sausage) and it was so good, and my (brand new) husband devoured his filet mignon. Our guests all really enjoyed their meals as well. He also loved the Nightjar sangria! We also sampled some wine while waiting for our table, and everything we tried was delicious. The staff was very kind and knowledgeable, and we really appreciated the complimentary sparkling wine they brought out for us to celebrate. Unfortunately, the wait times were pretty rough. We were there on a Monday evening with a reservation and were seated around 6:30 pm (our reservation time). We ordered fairly quickly, but didn't receive our entrées until almost 8:00 pm. Drinks and appetizers also took quite a while. Our server, Travis, was very friendly, but the restaurant was extremely busy and check-ins were pretty infrequent. That said, the food really was that good, and we do plan to return. Hopefully next time the timing is a bit smoother, because this place has the potential to be truly excellent. read more

My husband and I came to have a date night which was much needed and this place did not disappoint! Parking was good, there is enough parking spots. It's located in a shopping center with different restaurants and stores so definitely enough parking. The service was great! While waiting to be seated we did some wine tasting. We are newbies to wine so the bartender was really nice and patient. We got seated pretty quickly after we finished our tasting. For dinner my husband got the surf and turf which he picked the Parmesan crusted filet medallions with the dunked shrimp and the sides it came with was green beans and mashed potatoes, that plate was $45 For my dinner, I got the 8oz filet mignon and the sides it comes with is broccoli and mashed potatoes, that plate was $46. The wine club pressure has to stop. We look forward to eating the food and we enjoy the ambience but the wine club pressure is unnecessary. We have been wine club members for a couple years yet every time we have come in recently the only thing the server talks about is the wine club. We're already members! We don't want to hear about it!!! In the past we have brought guests in and the servers pressure our guests to join - most of our friends don't drink they don't want to hear about it. All of these occurrences make us question coming in because it simply ruins our experience. Please just let us enjoy our food enjoy our time with guests. Managers - drop the pressure off the servers for wine clubs, it's oozing into the guest experience. read more

After making reservations a couple of days in advance, I enjoyed a wonderful tasty dinner at Cooper's Hawk on a Saturday evening. Our server was polite and patient, even with my friend who can be a difficult patron with his order. I ordered the Parmesan crusted chicken, and wow, it was fantastic. Everything was plated well, came out in a decent amount of time, but gave us just enough time to enjoy the ambience of the evening. I would absolutely come back to this location, in fact, because of this great experience, I took another group of friends to the Cooper's Hawk location in Scottsdale the following weekend! read more

What a fun experience we had at bubbles and brunch on a Sunday. I was in town visiting family and we opted to go get a little more upscale brunch than the usual local diners that my family likes to frequent. We did make a reservation ahead of time because Well I was traveling with a senior as was half the restaurant when we arrived, but we needed to make sure we had a table. The server was very friendly and helpful. We also tried the barrel wine flights sample, which was delicious. We placed our order for the French toast, a pasta, and an avocado toast. We did not receive right away in the server did say that it was coming, but it never did. We had to ask for it. Also, it took quite a while for our meal to be delivered so I'm not sure if she forgot to ring it in or what because the restaurant was about 60% full at 11 AM. All of the items tasted delicious and were a good portion for the value. Because we were celebrating a special occasion, they brought us chocolate truffles at the end, which we actually loved. We did not receive any refills on our beverages, which were just standard iced tea and water. We would probably come back. read more

I wanted to share some feedback from our dinner visit tonight. Our waitress was wonderful and handled everything with kindness, and we truly appreciated her. There were two issues during the meal that I felt were important to mention. When the bread arrived, there was a hair in the butter. Our server apologized and replaced it right away. Later, one of the entrées at our table was served cold, and the kitchen remade it and comped that meal. What stood out to me was the difference in how the two situations were handled. Even though the bread and butter are complimentary, the issue still affected the dining experience, especially since it involved a sanitation concern. An apology was given, but no additional gesture was offered. read more

Sunday at 12:45, bar area empty and it took 1 hour to get pot stickers, two wedge salads and a cup of soup. Way too long. People need to figure out the TV's also. Customer watching the Eagles Bucs game with huge interest and someone changes all three TV's to the Ryder Cup that had already been decided. We celebrated our anniversary at Cooper's Hawk last night and had such a great experience from start to finish. We kicked things off with the Sangria Flight, which was a fun way to try a few different flavors, and the brussels sprouts appetizer was fantastic. They also bring out warm pretzel bread, and it is so good it could be a course on its own. For dinner, we both ordered seasonal dishes. I had the Roasted Butternut Squash Ravioli with Maine lobster, shrimp, and scallops, and it was incredible. My husband ordered the Filet Medallions with Winter Truffle Crust and the Blue Crab Stuffed Lobster Tail with broccolini, Mary's potatoes, and a lemon beurre blanc. He loved every bite. They surprised us with homemade truffles for our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful touch. We also really enjoyed the wine service, especially the tableside decanter that makes the whole experience feel special. Our server, Ellie, was wonderful, very friendly and perfectly attentive throughout the evening. Overall, it was a fantastic anniversary dinner and we will definitely be back. read more

Classiest fine dining in Surprise! It's our 2nd visit and our wedding anniversary. We had reservations and were seated right away. Carol, our server, was very nice. There were several flies who thought they were invited to join us. We called over the manager Chris who immediately moved us. It was a much better location. The warm pretzel bread is always tasty. Robert ordered Pot Stickers for an appetizer. The slaw that comes with it was delicious. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Salad without sweet corn and regular ranch dressing on the side. You can't go wrong with a tasty chopped salad. I was not disappointed. Robert ordered the Chicken Madeira. He enjoyed his meal. He ordered a strawberry lemonade with less purée and it was just sweet enough to his liking. I exercised self control and, for dessert, ordered 1 chocolate truffle. It was so good. Went on a weeknight non holiday with reservations. Waitress was sweet though insanely busy and only seen them a few times. Food took 1.5 hours to arrive after our order. 2 managers came to the table but was supposed to pretend things were fine. Sent me a flank stank instead of a $46.99 filet mignon. First time eating here for my wife's birthday with some friends. We did a wine tasting before dinner, which was fantastic. Lynde served us & did a fantastic job. Dinner service was excellent. Moranda did a fantastic job serving an 8-top and all the food came out at the same time. I had the filet mignon, medium-rare, which was cooked to perfection. Mary's potatoes are very flavorful. My wife enjoyed the mahi mahi, also cooked to perfection. Dessert was banoffee pie, which I had not had before but I would definitely order it again. read more

Disappointed Birthday Experience at Cooper's Hawk It's taken me a week to put this review together because I truly wanted to give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt. This was supposed to be a special night for my sister's 44th birthday, and I've gone back and forth on whether to even write this because I didn't want to relive the disappointment -- but I feel it's important to share. I made a reservation at Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant in Surprise, AZ for August 13th. My sister had wanted to try it after walking in a few months ago and finding it was fully booked, so I thought this would be the perfect surprise for her. The hosts were warm and professional -- they greeted us kindly and even wished my sister a Happy Birthday, which started the evening off on a positive note. We did have to wait a little while for a booth (even though I requested and confirmed one in advance), but we didn't mind since they handled it graciously. Unfortunately, our dining experience went downhill from there. I lost the receipt but I believe our server's name was Elizabeth, and we were seated at table 332 near the bar area. She never acknowledged my sister's birthday and seemed hesitant about letting us try the complimentary wine tastings. When we found a wine we liked and requested a bottle to enjoy with dinner, instead of bringing it out, she immediately shifted into pitching the wine club. We signed up -- but then the bottle of wine we wanted never arrived. My sister's meal was served cold, and when we asked again about the wine, we were told she "wasn't allowed" to bring it to the table. This turned out to be untrue, as we watched another server bring a bottle of wine to the couple seated behind us. By this point, the evening felt more about signing us up for a membership than celebrating my sister's birthday. We were never offered dessert or anything special for her birthday, and the whole experience fell flat. It was disappointing because this was meant to be a fun, memorable night for her. On the way home, my sister even said we probably should have just gone for sushi -- which broke my heart since I wanted this to be special for her. The one positive note at the end of the night came from the woman behind the wine bar. She took the time to explain the wine club clearly and assured us we could come back anytime to pick up our bottle. Her professionalism and kindness were appreciated. Overall, while I wanted to love this place, the service left us very underwhelmed -- especially for a birthday celebration. I'm not sure yet if we'll keep our membership or give Cooper's Hawk another try. read more

Store manager refused to accept the ID for our 22 yr old nephew because it was a California drivers license and the restaurant is in Arizona. Nephew is here for Spring Training as a pitcher for the Kansas City Royals baseball team. He's 6'4 and nobody would ever question his being 21 years old. The manager simply did not want to accept California documentation. He offered no explanation other than it was a CA drivers license. Stubborn and unrelenting - so we left. read more

I have now been here three times and the food and service is so good, and the pricing is so crazy low and affordable I don't understand how they can survive in the long run. Then we sat at our table and it just continued to be fantastic. The server, the food, the atmosphere... Amazing. We had the calamari appetizer and shared the Valentine's Day surf and turf. Delicious. We received gift cards for Christmas so we would thought we would try again. Went for my husband's birthday. Our waitress was new, a couple weeks working there. She was very nice. She did not greet my husband with happy birthday which they usually do. Hostess did. We placed our order. Salad first, filet mignon for him, pork chop for me. It's not too busy as it was early on Thursday. I'm watching as a server delivers our dinner. My husband and I look at each other and say where's our salad. I wave down our waitress. She is sorry, we say forget the salad. Disappointing. My husband's meal was good, my pork chops were dry. I've had this meal before and it was really good. Did not send it back. It was getting really busy and we could tell our waitress was getting a little overwhelmed. I reminded her it was my husband's birthday and she brought out his dessert with candle. That was nice. I really want to like this place but every time we go there is something. Seems like there are always new servers and new wine servers at the wine bar. Place has quickly become my go to date night spot. Highly recommend reservations, download the app, make reservations, get a wine membership, show up early and make new friends at the tasting bar. Place is low lit for ambiance, you get a fine dining feel, fine dining consistency, but priced at a family restaurant. We arrived a little after 5pm and had to park in the Costco lot as the winery/restaurant lot was full. Inside, the tasting bar was jammed pack with wine tasters and noise. It was a good thing we made reservations. After checking in, we waited a few minutes before getting a text that our table was ready. We were escorted to one of the dining rooms and sat at a table for four, just the two of us. The extra space was nice. My wife ordered a red wine flight of four wines. She enjoyed them and I sipped just a little as I was the driver today. CH makes nice wines. They are reasonably priced. We shared the Napa Chicken salad that was thick with lettuce and light on the many other ingredients. It was tasty but not the rich varied salad as stated on the menu. We also shared the Gnocchi with Roasted Butternut Squash. It was HEAVY with gnocchi which overwhelmed the salad. Too bad. Again, an unbalanced dish. The chocolate cake was tasty sweet with a lot of frosting. CH is a winery first and restaurant next. They do good job of making it all work, but need to add more finesse to the entrees. read more

My husband and I decided to finally try Cooper's Hawk and we were very pleased. We made a reservation for 5pm through Open Table and arrived about 45 mins early so we could do a wine tasting before dinner. (I highly recommend it!) Our wine tasting lady Deadra was AMAZING she knew so much about the wine and really made the experience 10x better. She explained the wine club and all about the company and needless to say we left becoming members. My husband has a sweet tooth so he opted for the Sweet Tasting while I went for the Lux. All the wines we tasted were amazing and (honestly it was a big part of why we became members). My favorite from the Lux tasting was the Meritage and my hubbies from the Sweet was the Cranberry. An added perk for the Lux tasting (which did have a slight up-charge - but totally worth it) was the added bonus of a chocolate truffle to enjoy with the wine.) We then went on to the dinning room for dinner. With it being earlier the place was not too busy, but by the time we left it was packed. Our server Justin was good, but he didn't explain the wines or that since it was our first time we could try a sample of wine. (Luckily Deadra had told us about it and suggested I try the barrel reserve at dinner - so I knew to ask about the tasting.) The barrel reserve was delicious and if I had not ordered the wine pairing for the cheese plate I probably would have just gotten a glass of it. Food wise, we decided to try the cheese plate with the wine pairing to start and it was all delicious. My favorite had to be the berry and honeycomb cheeses with the accompanying wine. My husband loved the Ice Wine (he definitely has a sweet tooth.) The plate was good but there was not enough bread for all the cheese so we ended up having to use some of the pretzel bread. For entrees my husband went with the braised short rib risotto and I ordered the chicken Madeira. Both of them were delicious, but I have to say I liked my chicken the best. For drinks with dinner I finished off the wine pairing (I don't think I could have handled anything more) and my hubby tried the Cooper's Hawk - Hawk Ale which was great also. Sadly we didn't leave room for dessert but we plan to come back and try some next time. All in all it was a great experience. Service was great at the wine bar and good in the restaurant. Food came out promptly. The place definitely had a romantic vibe and I could see this as a great future date night place. We will be back especially now that we are wine club members. read more

My adventures in Phoenix food have been generally underwhelming. Beyond the amazing assortment of Mexican places, I've rarely been blown away by great food. Cooper's Hawk is the exception to that rule. The place was PACKED. It's loud, it's chaotic, the service is fine given how busy they are. All that aside, probably the best meal I've had in the Phoenix area. I had a simple blackened Mahi sandwich but I loved it. I'd go back just for that. Bites I had from everyone else were great. Well I still eat here. Lol it's always hit or miss if I'm getting what I paid for. I got the chief special "grill cheese with short rib on it ",that was recommended by the manager. I couldn't find hardly any meat. Another manager said she wants to take care of me, the lunch was on her and she would replace the sandwich. Well I got it to go and still got a bill for it. Oh well. Got home decided to look at the meat and I had a table spoon worth of meat. Much better than the last one. It's always an adventure coming back next week with friends. We had an 8:45pm reservation at Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant for Valentine's Day and decided to show up about an hour early. Good thing we did. The wine tasting room they advertise is basically just a long bar area, and it was completely packed. It took about 30 minutes before my date and I were able to squeeze in and get a spot. Once we did though, the experience was great. Aaron was the bartender helping us and he honestly made the night. My date had never really tried wine before and I'm not very knowledgeable myself, but he made it easy and comfortable. He explained things without making it feel overwhelming and had a good sense of humor the whole time. You can tell he actually knows his stuff. The selection had a nice variety and we were both really happy with what we tried. When it was time for dinner, we were seated about 10 minutes earlier than our reservation, which was a nice surprise on a busy Valentine's night. The waitstaff and management were pleasant and everything ran pretty smoothly. The food was good, just not mind blowing. I'd definitely go back for the wine experience. I reserved a table in advance and specifically told the hostess we were celebrating my wife's Birthday. The filet minion we ordered were good, but not excellent.. My problem was at the end of the meal after spending over $200 on food and drinks, our waiter brought the check. I asked him dont you offer any complimentary dessert for my wife's Birthday? He said ohhh.. uhhhh.,.. yeah maybe? 10 min later he brought a Birthday dessert and said the manager said yes we can.....Really?
