I've debated for a few days now on writing this review, but the more I think about what happened,…read morethe angrier I get. We had a lease from a dealership in Virginia but relocated here recently so decided to trade it in around here. Lexus of Westport had the most inventory so we decided to go there. Our salesperson, Steven R. was great. Even Chris K. who called me when I send in my initial inquiry was extremely helpful. Knowledgeable about the cars and helpful with the whole process. Not pushy at all. Our finance director was great - I think her name was Gabby. Super friendly and helpful as well. I was shocked when my husband agreed to trade in our car at that time because he always has to think it over. They had the exact GX470 I wanted. I'm writing this review as someone who is a consumer and also has car industry experience. I've worked as a manager of a luxury preowned car dealership and have spoken at national conferences on customer service for dealerships around the country. My first major issue was that we could not take the car home with us that day. My husband and I still have Virginia licenses because of Covid so we were not in the DMV system. Despite us signing ALL the paperwork and having our car ready to turn over to them - they would not issue us a loaner document with dealer plates because it was "company policy." The Lexus dealership in Virginia had no problem extending us a weekend with our new car to try it out before we committed to it - but this dealer wouldn't even do it when we had already signed the documents? Needless to say I was very disappointed to find out the exact new car I was hoping for wouldn't be ours until Monday. Monday rolls around - guess what? Still not in the CT DMV system. They will call us back on Tuesday. Finally, on Tuesday I took our car in and traded it for the GX. I was thrilled. I drove it a few times that week, nothing major. On Saturday of the same week (we've had the car 4.5 days), I went out to the driveway to go to Target and the back window is completely broken. The car has 85 miles on it - not 85,000 - 85!!! Naturally, I thought someone broke into it so we called the police. When the officer arrived, he said it was impossible for someone to have shattered our back window because all of the glass was blown out on the driveway. There was very little glass in the back of the car. The officer deducted that there was a defect in our back window causing it to break because of how the glass pattern was shown in the driveway. Our car was also locked and there was zero signs of someone trying to get in. We asked our neighbors to check their security cameras. Sure enough - the officer was correct. The back window of the BRAND NEW GX460 just shattered and fell off the car into the driveway. I called our sales rep and he continued to ask me if it could have been damaged or hit. I sent him all the photos and the VIDEO of the window just breaking and falling out of the car from that morning. He said he would see what he could do to help us. Nada. Zilch. Not even a call from a manager to see what happened and how they could help us. I can't even believe a car that we had for less than a week now needs the back end completely redone because the car spontaneously blew out the back window due to a defect and the dealership wouldn't help us. There should be good faith on their end to help us. This is obviously a freak incident with our car and the dealership should be mortified and want to help us any way they can. Instead, we had to file an insurance claim and take our BRAND NEW Lexus to a shop in Shippan to be repaired and not the Lexus dealership. I am angry and disappointed that this dealership who prides themself with SERVICE OF EXCELLENCE could leave a brand new customer with a very expensive car to deal with this on their own. When our lease is up, I will look elsewhere for our new vehicle.

I visited to test drive a vehicle I was seriously considering. I told the salesperson I wanted to start with Lexus, since my past experiences had always been positive. He told me Lexus values repeat customers above all else. That could not have been further from the truth. I had positive equity in my outgoing lease, which I planned to roll into the new one -- but Lexus offered only half the equity I knew I could get elsewhere. When I told the sales rep the offer was insulting and that I was all set for the day, a manager called almost immediately. He laughed when I mentioned a competitor was offering double, telling me "profit is not a dirty word," then bumped his offer by $500 -- still $3,000 short of what I'd been quoted elsewhere. I understand dealerships need to make money, and Lexus stood to profit significantly from my new lease regardless. There was no need to shortchange me on the equity I'd already earned. I'm glad I found another luxury dealer in the area that actually values customer relationships. It's clear the new ownership at Lexus of Westport cares about one thing: the bottom line.

Cmmunications in progress. ------ 1st Advanced couldn't tell us specifically which alternator we needed for our van so we bought two to the tune of $1300+ (with intention of returning unused one) and went to a garage we found in the area (we were on a road trip starting our vacation, so didn't know anyone in area). The garage took us in and did the repair. We were so thankful to be on the road that we paid him cash and headed out. Unfortunately lost the receipt. Wasn't really planning on needing it. Lesson learned! Initial breakdown did not have to do with Advanced Auto Part. And we made an assumption that the part(s) we purchased would be good. for the price...maybe should be lined with a little gold? 2nd on the way home. SAME PROBLEM. This did have to do with Advanced Auto part. Alternator was bad! so now we're in NJ and have to find some help. We eventually did find a repair shop that could help us, but not until the next morning so we were stuck overnight. Not their fault, i put this blame on faulty part as well. So the alternator that we purchased from Advanced was no good. Shop replaced it with a NAPA (where they get their parts) and the cost of the alternator was 1/2 of what we paid at Advanced, although the labor was double what we paid the first time. This garage told us that NAPA will stand by their product and if something like this happens they will reimburse for additional labor as a result of THEIR BAD PART. So I called Advanced to see if they'll do the same. if the part they sold us was good we never would have been delayed getting home and having to pay even MORE labor to reinstall another alternator not to mention the towing fees to get the van to this garage. They did refund me for both the alternators that i purchased. the bad one and the additional one i had to purchase. now i'm tyring to get assistance with the added labor we had to dish out. Stay tuned... i am hoping to be able to update this review with a positive note.

As someone who's experienced the gamut of auto mechanics from the skilled and honest to the clueless and untrustworthy, I can honestly say that the manager, Chip, and all of the mechanics and technicians at Westport Auto Repair fall into the skilled and honest category. Long story short: My car's front Axle and Control Arm broke while driving down on a hill on a side street in Westport. I probably wouldn't be here writing this if it happened on the highway an hour earlier. With my front tire hanging off and the car unmovable in the middle of a busy street, I thought a nightmare day and a huge repair bill were in my future. Then, fate smiled upon me and when a car pulled up and asked if I needed help. Of course, I did! This kind stranger turned out to be Chip, the manager at Westport Auto Repair! Amazing! He offered to arrange a tow to the garage and take a look at it. He had already surmised what the issue was just from a quick check on the road...his assumption turned out to be right. Very skilled and educated, with an easy-going, professional attitude- so rare these days. When I got to the garage, they acted quickly, evaluated the situation and explained to me the repair and the cost. Well below the price that I feared and Chip explained and detailed the work clearly and professionally. After a short time, I was on the road again, thanks to the hard work and kindness of this business. I have to say that I've never had a better car repair experience. Props to Chip and the team at Westport Auto Repair. You shouldn't hesitate to bring your car here. Amazing!
