Didn't write our order down, remembered EVERY single detail & we made some changes to our order that would make it difficult to remember. Very dissatisfied- We arrived at brunch buffet on Saturday's 12:30 - we were told the wait was 35 minutes and hour later we have not been seated. I spoke with the manager and I asked would it be an additional 30 minutes because we could cancel our reservation and I was assured it would not - Now it is an hour later and we have not been seated. It has been disappointing because I am always patronizing this place especially when I have out of town guest. This weekend my out of town guest were disappointed for the first time and so am I. I had a genuinely enjoyable meal here. Our meal spanned happy hour (M-F 4-7 in the entire restaurant) and regular hours. We started with a couple of appetizers. The Andouille sausage red beans and rice was good ($5 at happy hour prices). The crab stuffed beignets ($9.49 at regular prices) were probably better, with their good remoulade sauce. I had a couple of cocktails. For someone who likes sweet fruit drinks, their Mardi Gras Punch was a good to excellent example. I wouldn't repeat their Bellini: it was a frozen drink, and the ice hadn't been chopped too finely. For dessert, we had the white chocolate bread pudding ($7). It was excellent, almost outstanding. I'd repeat everything in that meal except the Bellini. It's unusual for me to have a hit rate of 4 out of 5 in a meal, maybe even rare. All the dishes were large, so two people were full to stuffed after sharing two apps and a dessert, and having two cocktails each. It was $47 before tip for that much, which I consider to be a good value. In particular, $5 for that sausage, red beans, and rice appetizer is a good deal because it'll make a whole meal for many people (though add some vegetables for a balanced diet please). Dishes to try next time: the chicken parmesan ($13) comes well reviewed. The shrimp and crab remoulade salad has that remoulade sauce that I love, and is available in two sizes for $8 and $15. They have a classic New Orleans dessert, Bananas Foster, as well. Also, their Sunday brunch gets some good reviews; the buffet is $26. read more

My husband and I went in yesterday and asked the hostess if it was ok to just go sit in the bar and eat. "Yes, absolutely, sit wherever." We go in and sit at a booth, it was brunch, no problem, so we wait. There are 3 servers in the bar area and we were walked by not once, not twice, but 3 times after sitting there for 15 minutes. Literally had to walk right by our table with not even an acknowledgement and there were servers and food delivers walking by constantly. We got up and again, they just watch you leave. My husband and I are in Jacksonville for the first time and this was our first stop and oh my gosh! We will be going back before we leave town. I had the bayou chicken and my husband had the fried chicken and then we also had the biscuits with honey butter. Everything was DELICIOUS!!! We never visit Jacksonville without having a meal at Copeland's. I was born and raised in South Louisiana and love this place because the food is authentic and absolutely delicious. We love the atmosphere as much as the food. Currently they are decorated for Mardi Gras and it is awesome. Also can't say enough about the great service we received from Tangi. It was an early Valentine dinner for us and it was awesome. Highly recommend this place. You will not leave hungry or disappointed. read more

I ate here for the first time yesterday. It's not very attractive outside, but rest assured the inside is much nicer. I came for lunch and there was ample parking, but I can't say that would hold true on a busy night for dinner. There was an outdoor seating area with perhaps 8 tables. I sat inside though. The menu had plenty to offer ranging from typical brunch items to your average lunch fare. I had a "Bon Temps Burger" which consisted of 1/2 lbs of meat, jack cheese, and barbecue sauce. I ask for medium, and received a medium cooked burger. I mention this because it's not always guaranteed. The sauce was tangy and delightful. The tea was well sweetened, and never left half empty. I will say that my fries were soggy, which put a big downer on my meal as I love fries. Overall I'd say I'll go here again if asked, but I probably wouldn't come up with the idea myself as it just didn't wow me. read more

I don't normally do this type of thing, but today I went for a job enterveiw t at Coplands. I was early and was asked to fill out an application and have a seat. While doing that the hiring manager passed by and told the host she needed to step out and she would call me. I feel like she looked at me and judged me immediately! I had to go through a lot to get to that enterveiw!! No wonder you are doing a massive hiring all October. I think it's disgusting that you can just judge someone. That's discrimination. I ordered Angel hair pasta and asked for extra pasta it came with crab and I got 2 very small end pieces with meat on one side only very small end pieces and shrimp about the size of a dime. 3 shrimp. Very little angle hair pasta and eggplant sliced very thin and no flavor I took one bite and said oh no I don't like the taste of the eggplant and I ordered the crawfish rye soup but couldn't find any crawfish and paid separate for a sausage which was minced up and only about a half a piece of sausage and put it in the soup but again NO crawfish. No crab not even a mouthful from an end of a claw on one side. 2 little pieces. Then still wanting seafood Angel hair pasta I went the next night to Olive Garden and got Angel hair pasta I asked for extra pasta and the plate was full and it came with big huge shrimp and scallops and soup and bread sticks. And I paid $23.00 at Olive Garden but paid $33.00 at Copeland. I called Copeland and they told me to return the food and I only got back $21.00!!! Driving from Mayport Florida. I feel I should have gotten a full $33.00 refund especially wasting my gas to go all the way back to Copeland but the powers that be decided to only give me $21.00 when all I really ate was a small portion of Angel hair pasta. Believe me I'll never go back to Copeland. Their portions are too small prices higher than Olive Garden. I just had a taste for crab and crawfish and I didn't get either. Managers were rude and not understanding and totally unfair to me. I will never come here again. Who wants one side of a crab claw with meat on one side and no crawfish in the soup and have to pay separately for the soup and the sausage only getting half a sausage minced up? Was celebrating wife's birthday with family from out of town. First, Copeland's definitely needs to upgrade the actual menus itself. They look pretty dated. I ordered some kind of fried catfish with a pecan sauce that I told the waitress I wanted on the side, the chef apparently didn't get the memo. Very disappointed in the catfish as it looked/tasted like it was frozen and not fresh. Made reservations the night before and gentlemen mentioned since we were celebrating a birthday my wife would get a small complimentary piece of cake/ice cream. Unfortunately didn't receive any acknowledgement of anything! Overall a bad experience, defintely will not be returning. read more

From Orlando, FL.. came into town for the weekend just to visit Copeland's because I heard about it (word of Mouth). Had brunch buffet, and let me tell you, this Brunch is one of thee best! Great variety of breakfast items, Lunch items and dessert. Brunch ranges from $20-$35 dollars per person, our bill as $58 not including tip. Delicious! So my husband and I went for the first time tonight and the food was amazing. The wait was super long though, our waiter came up to us numerous times apologizing and eventually ended up giving us an extra appetizer and biscuits so we had a TON of food. We were able to try the crab stuffed beignets, hot crab boil, the salmon, and the stuffed catfish with crawfish rice pilaf. They ended up giving us one of our meals, our to go order, free. So we got to try a ton for a very low price. Can't wait to go next time to try the desserts! read more

Once upon a time, a few years ago, I went to Copeland's to celebrate my birthday. We were seated in the bar area and had a completely off evening. Service wasn't up to par, the food timing was so very off that appetizers came out just minutes before the entree. Our waitress wasn't attentive and did nothing to help the situation. I was not impressed and stayed away for a long time. I decided to try again after a day of shopping left me wanting a comfy restaurant and some soup. I love a good crab & corn chowder and Copeland's makes a good version. We arrived in the early afternoon on a Sunday - apparently just after the brunch service ended. The host said she just triple sat a section so we were told to wait a few minutes. Then we were placed in the bar area. Bad choice. We were the only people there and the crew was still breaking down from brunch. We ordered two bowls of soup and an entree. My mom's bowl came out first after 15 or so minutes. At 25 minutes or so, my soup (my entree) came out. Our waiter saw I had food and no sandwich and checked. He told us my soup should not have come out because the sandwich wasn't ready. The sandwich came out 5 or so minutes later. During lunch, workers were peeling up tape from extensions cords being taped down, relaxing high tops and chairs, laughing and joking around pretty loudly. Frankly, we felt like an intrusion. The soup was good, the sandwich was enjoyed. Our waiter was the bartender and he was good. He was attentive, followed up on the kitchen's timing mistake and apologized for his co-workers being loud and goofing off. Once we were done eating, we just wanted our check so we could go and leave an awkward dining experience. Even if it meant waiting a few minutes, we never should have been seated in the bar area when it wasn't fully ready yet. I honestly don't know if I'll be back again because I have low expectations for what kind of service I'll end up with. read more

I haven't been back to Copeland's in several years, probably because it just didn't appeal to me that much but a friend in town for a few months wanted to try it since they don't have them where he's from. Their website needs some work. I thought I could make a reservation online but it appears that every other Copeland's has that capability except this one. Their contact page gives a 404 error as well as their Order Gift Cards page. Anyway, I called to make a reservation and the lady who took my information did not ask for my phone number and before I could give it to her she hung up on me. Geez. Luckily, the experience there made up for the bad start. They still had my reservation when we all got there and the service was excellent. I ordered the Crab Stuffed Mushrooms for the table and everyone seemed to enjoy them by themselves without the sauce. The mushrooms ;retained a lot of water so there wasn't a need for it. My entree was the Cajun Crawfish pasta a crawfish cream sauce served over angel hair pasta with sauteed mushrooms and roasted corn. The menu described that sauce as "Velvety" but I don't think that adjective should've been used. Either way it was very good and I took half of it home. My visiting friend got the Shrimp Orleans: gulf shrimp, andouille and smoked sausage sauteed with Creole trinity veggies, shrimp stock, a touch of cream, all over jasmine rice. He loved it and ate it all. My mother got the Crab Stuffed Shrimp: jumbo gulf shrimp stuffed with lump crabmeat dressing, breaded and fried and served over tasso butter cream. She substituted a loaded backed potato for the fries that come with it. It's unusual for her to order fried shrimp as she doesn't eat fried food but I guess the appeal of stuffed shrimp was enough for her as she ate them all with no complaints. We decided to share a dessert, the Creole Style Cheesecake with strawberry topping. I don't know what makes it Creole and I didn't ask. The part that stood out the most for us was the thick walnut crust they used which we were expecting a graham cracker crust. It was still amazing. All in all, it was a pleasant experience and I'm glad my friend enjoyed it. Should I come back here, I definitely wanna try their Sunday brunch. read more

Went for Sunday Brunch Buffet. Overall the food was good and seasoned. The service is not really attentive. After sitting 15 minutes we were asked what we wanted to drink. The mimosas cost $1.99 with the brunch and $3.99 outside of brunch. The place was packed, I'm assuming Sunday is a busy day especially with the after church crowd. It was pretty straight forward. It seems like Copeland's has gone down from the last time I was there. My roommate and I went Saturday night before heading to meet friends. We sat at the bar and thought we might get fast service there. There were two bartenders working that evening. We ordered with one of them and proceeded to wait. It was more than an hour before the food came. The bartender checked on us once and didn't offer to refill my water or ask if we needed anything. The other bartender asked if we'd ordered yet 45 minutes after sitting there which seemed that she wouldn't have acknowledged our presence. When the food finally came, my roommate's seafood platter was cold and tasted like the crawfish had been sitting waiting for us while we waited for it. We asked for the manager and she only offered to bring more crawfish after we had just waited an hour for food. Needless to say, we didn't want to wait any longer, paid the bill and left. I'm very disappointed. I left a comment on the website and have not heard back. Sigh - it might be a long time before I return to spend my money at Copeland's. read more

Unfortunately I had a terrible experience here. The manager Jenny was nothing but rude and absolutely full of ridiculous excuses as to why something was wrong. She came to the table with an attitude when we told her about our original problems, she focused in on being rude to mom when my mom was nothing but polite back, she blamed the kitchen errors on their kitchen manager being in Nigeria, told us that all of the food is prepackaged and not their fault that there was no meat in one of the pastas and actually tried to fight my mom, and called her the B word. I seriously wish I was joking. All and all I will not be back. The food looked beautiful in the photos, only 3 out of the 5 dishes could be photographed and only one person was able to eat because everything else was cold, salty or spicy or overcooked. I am also was disappointed by Jenny's behavior because their brunch was enjoyable. It was extremely upsetting for the manager to act that way, unprompted because she was upset that we told our waitress to cancel are food remakes and give us the check we desperately wanted to leave. read more

Look, I'm not sure why Copelands doesn't have 5 stars but they deserve it. I'm new to Jax from Houston, Texas and N'awlins is only about 4 or 5 hrs from us so that is our 2and home and we looooove creole food. With all that being said, chiiiiile, I ordered the red beans and rice, gumbo, crab fingers, blackened chicken alfredo, and a slice of cheesecake. I am in heaven! When outside opens back up that will probably be my little hangout spot. The food was absolutely amazing. My only complaint is the spice level but it's a restaurant so I dont expect for the food to be as spicy as the Copelands in New Orleans. I am so grateful that they exist here and that they did not disappoint me. Cant wait to go and actually sit down and experience the customer service, drinks, etc. read more

I have lived here in Jax for 4 years and always wondered about this New Orleans establishment here in our fair city, but never had a reason to go ... UNTIL my friends said dinner sounded good when I recommended it thanks to my Teal Deals (yay for coupons!). Our server was awesome and the dish I ordered--CRAWFISH ETOUFFÉE was definitely worthy of 5*. It had all the right flavors with more than enough kick. I could not stop eating it. I hope one day I can make a dark roux sauce that tastes this good. Let me be clear, I don't really like rice, and I ate ALL OF IT. The biscuit it came with was tasty enough for me to order more. I know this is a chain and may appear slightly dated inside, but my dish was good enough for me to come back, and the server was on point. I am glad we came to try it out! read more

When I'm in dire need of a good plate of pasta, I will come here or the Cheesecake Factory. Their pastas, appetizers, and small plates are all great choices. Copeland has always been on my radar. This place has such a great lunch menu and the prices are amazing. I can order lunch and a drink for a low as $10! You can can't beat that for a sit down restaurant lunch. I have the lunch special which was shrimp and catfish over a bed of Jasmin rice. The rice was perfect not cooked too much and the shrimp and catfish was to die for. It was served in a Spicy red sauce but it wasn't too spiced. ( It didn't have me crying lol). I would go back. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was that it took about 30 mins to make but I asked the waitress to bring out my check before hand so we wouldn't be late back to work. She was quick otherwise so I would definitely go back. read more
