Mike completed a very challenging job at my home. He was able to safely remove a very very large and very very heavy evaporative cooler which was hanging by the vent only, as the brace was broken. It was also very close to a block wall, so we didn't want it falling into that wall and damaging it. He was able to do it by himself and without damaging the house or the wall. I called Mike at Copper State Electric because of his good reviews. I needed a plumber ASAP. This was January 10th, Mike said he was busy that day, which was fine, but I needed an electrician too, but no urgency for that work. So we continued to text and set up an appointment for 9am on 2/23. I texted him at 8:20 on 2/23 to confirm the appointment. At 9:30 I texted again to see if he was coming. Mike said he overbooked the day, but said he would come by on 2/25 at 9:00am... On 2/24 he texted at 10:50am and said he could be there at noon. I said great, but it would probably just be a survey of the what needs to be done (a lot btw), as I couldn't stay home that day all afternoon. Mike says he will be there at noon. I live in a condo high rise, and when Mike got here he asked for what unit, which I told him. He then said there is no place to park, which when I looked outside I saw there was at least three spots and was texting of that fact, as I watching Mike driving past those spots in his truck, and he continued down the road. He texted me and said, "... I do not like to work on buildings downtown. Sorry to have wasted your time." And then he continues to insist that my building is a apartment building, which when it was built in 1964 it was, but it has been condos since 1979. IN SUMMARY: So waited three weeks for an appointment, Mike missed that appointment, rescheduled for another time but when he arrived he just left without even coming in... Mike has been fantastic with all of the tasks we have had him help us with. Earlier in the year, we purchased an investment property and needed someone to fix up several small things in the house. One of which included fixing up the kitchen cabinets. Several contractors we received bids from gave us so much grief regarding the cabinets (said we needed to replace them) and also fixing the spa tub. They wanted to charge us an arm and a leg, too. I found Mike through an ad on Craigslist and called him in a last-ditch effort. My husband immediately liked him but the most important part was that Mike wasn't afraid to take on the things we wanted. He didn't hesitate to say that fixing the kitchen cabinets wouldn't be a problem. Being a handyman, his prices were extremely reasonable. Mike demonstrated excellent communication with my husband and we appreciated being informed every step of the way. He also had a great sense of humor and we enjoyed interacting with him. Mike was also perfectly fine going to Home Depot with my husband so that we could purchase supplies on our Home Depot card. Incredibly, he even struck up a few deals with the salesperson to save us more money! A few times while we were at the property doing yardwork, he was quick to lend us any of his tools to help us out. All in all, we were very pleased with his work on the house (fixing and rebuilding the kitchen cabinets, removing and installing a new tub, repairing and installing landscape lighting controls that were stolen, installing and repairing lighting, plumbing, and repairing various components on the exterior of the house). I really struggle with writing a bad review for a small business person but I believe my situation warrants it. I actually hired him twice and it was the second time that I have the issue with. I hired him to install a new water heater which he did, but once there were problems with it, that is when he ghosted me. A brand new 40 gallon mid-level water heater should not run out of hot water entirely in 6 minutes. He told me the problem was I had to turn the temperature all the way up on the water heater but I explained that the water temperature was already hot, just for a very short time. I texted and wrote him several times to no avail and I did get a response back twice saying that he would come out and fix it but never came out and fixed it or answered any of my follow-up emails or texts. So now I have a junk water heater that runs out of hot water in 6 minutes. read more

First of all, I do want to start by saying that Mike is good at what he does, so that was not the issue. The issue was his RUDE and crappy attitude! He is short, condescending, and has very little patience. He also has very poor communication skills, and overall I have to agree with his other reviewer that gave him a 1 star. He doesn't seem like he enjoys what he does at all, and is very unpleasant to have in your home. There are so many beautiful, kind, compassionate humans out there, and plenty of handymen (that are way less expensive) that do a fantastic job without the attitude. I rarely feel compelled to write reviews, but I feel that others should know great Mike was. I live in a 1950's home where things are always falling apart. He helped me on a variety of projects including installing a new water heater, patching up walls, fixing my front door, balancing fans, and installing new locks on my front door. He did all these projects with great care and efficiency. I was impressed with how each project came out and how knowledgeable he was. He saved me money by fixing items I thought I would need to replace (like my front porch light fixture). And it's nice to find someone with a positive attitude and a sense of humor. He called me to tell me what time to expect him and arrived on time. He introduced himself to me - and my dogs. By asking questions, he got the info he needed for repairs. It was a simple solution, taking just a few minutes. He was kind, telling me I didn't owe him. Michael educated me regarding what to do before I call anyone. Mike was great to deal with. Hearing that there was a water leak involving the faucet repair he was able to come by sooner than anybody else, on a Sunday morning no less!. He arrived on time, got right to work and even took care of a small water leak from the RO system. The total cost was very reasonable and considering the other "estimates" that I had received were more than double what this cost in total, even adding the cost of a new shutoff valve and the RO leak repair! I can only imagine what some of the others would have tacked on for an "emergency charge" or the added costs for those "extra" parts. I did an entire 1930 historic house overhaul and rehabilitation with Mike and his work was always outstanding. With this type of undertaking we ran into MANY unforeseen challenges, but each time Mike called me with at least two viable solutions and ways to keep the project moving forward. He didn't just text me a photo and ask me what I thought we should do. With extended projects like this there has to be patience and communication from both parties and Mike was very good with this. He understood the goals of what I wanted the house to look like and he took pride in providing that level of service and workmanship. I would be remiss not to mention that the dog door required Mike to HAND CHISEL away block wall, which he did with a smile. I also didn't purchase all of the appropriate parts (classic), and he happily left mid-project to go to Lowes down the street. Arguably even better than the great job he did, he's a dog lover. I have three, and they're not docile which means anytime I have strangers in the house I have to worry about whether or not they person is going to be timid or the dogs are going to cause an issue. This review is long over due but I wanted to make sure I got this in because Mike is probably one of the best Handymen I've ever used. A move from Phoenix to Seattle had us scrambling to fix up the house for sale and we needed all sorts of work done - we had quite a bit of dry wall that needed repair and also needed a corner of our kitchen cabinetry retouched. After seeing the reviews here on Yelp, I called Mike at Copper State Home Maintenance and he was out the next day for an estimate. Now, the estimate was beyond reasonable and Mike even picked up the supplies needed and just charged me for those at his cost. He did all the repair work very quickly and everything looked AMAZING. Soooo RUDE! Not only is the voicemail SOOOO UNPROFESSIONAL but the owner Mike was nothing short of a jerk. He got mad when I declined his quote and continuously messages me until I blocked him. Why would I pay for a $55 Hrly rate plus whatever materials you are going to buy when The entire job was quoted for $60 from another Yelp business? He got mad and texts me " you get what you pay for" well Not with Mike you don't. You pay twice the amount and get the same as if you'd used another reputable Yelp business. Do yourself a favor, steer clear from this man. I finally blocked his number so he'd leave me alone. I contacted mike after Response Crew poorly hung a wall mounted entertainment center in my apartment. It ripped out of the dry wall and came crashing down ruining many valuables. Unlike the handyman with Response Crew, mike came in, did what needed to be done to fix the issue , got it hung properly, and left! And it was CHEAPER than the previous company who tried running the clock to get more money out of me. I paid half of what I paid the first time to get the job done right. Also, since he charges by the hour, he even asked if there was anything else that I needed done before he left since my task hadn't taken the full hour!
