This is a tough one, because I've used Copy Pilot for years. They really have the best print quality if you go direct from file. However, the last THREE times I went it were very uncomfortable situations, so it's been awhile since I've been back. The dude with the Peaky Blinders cap was obviously over-worked, stressed, and in a foul mood, the copiers weren't behaving, and he made everyone sure to be aware of it. He was talking and cussing under his breath, slamming machine doors and lids; he was short with customers; he helped people in weird orders not corresponding to when they arrived; he was aggressive and scary. I felt so uncomfortable I pretty quickly wondered if I should fear for my (everyone's!) safety and if I should just leave. His behavior was unprofessional to say the least. I returned a few more times to give it another shot based on the quality of the prints, but each time he was there, again arm-wrestling with the machines and his bad temper, and I felt awkward and unsafe each time. My business was not appreciated and my customer service experience was extremely stressful. Although my worst experiences were with him, I've also had bad experiences with the other guy that works there, who seemed incredibly put out when I asked for minor adjustments to be made to my prints done behind the counter. He's made it seem like it is asking way too much to advocate for better outputs of my files. It's literally just a few buttons, dude. I'm only giving 3 stars due to print quality and the awesomeness of Dave, the owner, who has always been incredibly kind, calm, and a joy to interact with. read more

I was in a panic. It was only 2 days before our neighborhood association was due to set up a booth at the Cathedral Park Jazz Festival with all new marketing materials including a banner with our new logo, stickers to update our brochures, and coloring pages for the kiddos. I had nothing. NOTHING! Enter Justin from Copy Pilot. He listened to my requests calmly, and set about planning what I needed, asking all of the right questions and working with me on the details. He didn't seem fazed by my deadlines. I immediately started feeling better. That night I received a proof. The next morning, another one. And the next day - not 2 days later - I picked up everything and it looked GREAT! How often in life do you get this kind of service? Ahead of schedule and looking great AND at a reasonable price? I came here because of how close it was to me at the time from another post office trying to ship my package. The service was fine but the cost of the shipment was $25 for a 2lb package with priority. When questioned about the high cost the clerk tells me "all shipping rates have been recently going up". After that generic awnser I pay and go about my day until I calculate the same package's cost with usps website and it comes out to $17. So to my regret I just got robbed of $8 because this place is privatly owned and they can charge whatever the F they want for a dang service fee. read more

I only recently moved to the Portland area. I'm still finding out where the best places to get stuff are. I'm an artist, and I needed to get some of my designs printed out for commissions. Copy Pilot is right down the street. 1. They're really friendly! Dave. Sarah (I think that's her name!), and Shane have all been really nice the 5 times I've been in there this week! 2. The printing looks AMAZING! They helped me pick out the best kind of paper for what I was printing as well, and its absolutely beautiful! 3. They are MORE than reasonably priced. I've spent maybe $20 in there this week on prints, and I've had to print a lot! 4. Yesterday, when I made a print, I seem to have left one of my prints in the printer. They kept it! They didn't just throw it out! It was there today when I came in to do yet another print! The fact that they didn't just toss my stuff really meant a lot to me. Things like that are what will keep me coming back to Copy Pilot for all of my local printing needs! read more

They charged me $24 to send a fax!!!! And when I went in with my 24 page application packet, the guy didn't think to mention to me that their fax prices were completely ridiculous. It cannot be ok to run a business this way! Also, it took forever because their fax machine is incredibly old. read more

I had to stop in and get just six copies made. I had no change in my pocket to pay the 54 cents for the copies, so got my debit card. I always feel a little bit silly using my debit card for such small amounts, but they were more than kind and threw 54 cents from the spare change jar into the till and called it good. I was really touched by the gesture and reemphasized how much I like the staff and like using this shop. read more

The Copy Pilot is one of the first businesses I encountered on Lombard St. What a surprise! The best printing, people, music, clientele, T shirts and just plain old humanity I've ever discovered. I always feel like a princess in there. The business cards terrific. The printing of some insert cards in a fundraiser outstanding. I may be new to Portland, but they made me feel right at home. After a frustrating experience where a Kinko's worker made fun of me after I asked for help with a Zine I was copying, I tried my luck at the little shop in my hood. I was afraid to ask for help after being humiliated at the other place, but the guy working there happily jumped in there and helped me copy each page. He made small talk with me and totally turned a blind eye to all the expletives and offensive drawings on my pages. In the end, the copies were a few cents more than Kinko's which I happily paid for the helping hand. Totally worth it. read more

I love this place. I just started selling things on eBay and I will never go anywhere else to pack and ship my packages. They have great prices and they helped me through the whole shipping process! I don't have a printer at home so it's so easy for me to go there and have things printed, get help packing and labeling, and ship them off. I have done three packages this week and it's costed less than $1 to send (not including the price of labels that I get threw eBay). I will never have to wait at the post office again! They are honestly the best copy place I have ever been to in my life. I just went there to get some work done on photoshop and they were so helpful with me even if I didn't know how to do something there was always an employee, available to help me. I will do all my copies and office needs at this location from now on from the affordable prices to how pleasant and friendly the staff is. I hope to continue to come here for years to come. We need more places that treat us like the human beings we are. I hope I don't have to step inside a FedEx for as long as I'm in Portland. Without a doubt, the worst Customer service experience I've ever had. When I walked in there were 2 people working both of them ignored me completely. Finally after about 5 minutes 1 of them finally asked me, how can I help you? I need a to fac some important documents so I asked him if I could fax these myself But he took the documents out of my hand and went over to make copies of them. His comment was that their fax machine doesn't do two sided documents, so He put them in the copier pushed the button, and Then promptly walked out the front door. After about 3 slow copies come of the machine jammed. I waited , and waited, And waited some more until finally the woman who was working there grabed the papers rearranged them, cleared the jam and placed them back into the machine in a different orientation and pushed the button to continue. The entire fax time took more than 20 minutes. She helped several other customers, again ignoring me completely, until finally going over grabbing my papers and charged me like 30 bucks for everything. The experience was bad enough, And customer service lousy enough that when I retire, which won't be long. I'll be starting my own copy center in North Portland. Where solidly good prices and fantastic customer service will prevail. I'm sure there are others that have had my experience, so building a profitable business should be a breeze. I am very disappointed with the service. I dropped off paper and instructions for printing what info on what paper, 50 sheets of off white paper and seven sheets of green paper. I was told that I would be called when completed, 4 hours later, I stopped by and it was not done, as he forgot about it. He printed them while I waited in between answering a phone call. I brought it home and checked it later in the evening, he printed the information completely incorrectly, reversed. I called the next morning to explain the order was printed incorrectly, only to be told that he had followed my instructions, he did not. I explained I had spent $40 on the paper. He offered no apology again stating that i was wrong. He was not paying attention to my instructions. Will never go back there. read more

I love Copy Pilot! I have come to Copy Pilot with different needs on various occasions and they never let me down. The staff is knowledgable about paper sizes, paper weights, electronic format, etc. not to mention always friendly and prompt! I have never been inside for more than 10 minutes because they are so quick. I just got a set of 50 business cards from them yesterday and they gave me a great deal. In fact, every printing need I have had has been cheap, cheap, cheap! These guys don't try to rip you off. I will be coming here for all my printing needs as long as I am in the NoPo neighborhood. The price is right, the service is great, and they are FAST. Way way better than any kinkos/fed ex jam. Even better than the last local printer I was using. Lots of paper options to choose from. I can get my prints an hour after I email the files, even faster if I send them the files while I'm at the store. I've worked a few times with the same employee and he has gone above and beyond for me. On one of my visits he took my file for a single 5x7 postcard and gridded it out so he could print multiples on a larger sheet of paper. All i had to do was use their paper cutter to trim out each postcard. He saved me money and didn't charge me for setting up the file (a charge I would have received at my old printer). This place is great. Stock up on stationary and be sure to tip your printer. read more

This place is pretty ridiculous. I have tried (and used) them several times over the last few years since they are close to home. Unfortunately, the staff is always grumpy and only moderately helpful. Basic b/w copies are mediocre quality. The biggest issue though is the pricing. I know they are a small shop and am happy to pay a bit more for convenience but more than one quote I asked for has been up to 4 x that of Fedex Office. I recently took a usb drive to have a file printed and was told the drive was formatted for a Mac so they couldn't read it (when Fedex Office read it from a PC- I double checked!) In 2015, near a sizable University, I simply can't believe this place can stay in business without being to read a standard USB drive to print a PDF. I've once again wasted my time and won't be back. read more

So I didn't actually ship anything from here, but I can say that this place has great customer service. I was going to ship some items to Hawaii and didn't have a box or tape or bubble wrap. I brought the items I wanted to ship and they wrapped everything up really well and measured my items to find the best size, then taped together a box and packed it all up, entered my info and told me my various pricing choices (including just buying the box and taking it to USPS myself, which was cheaper than it would be for them to USPS it for me). However, upon hearing the crazy price of shipping, I said I'd probably just pack it in my suitcase and pay for a checked bag instead. They were so friendly and said it was totally fine and unpacked everything for me and didn't even charge me for the box. I apologized profusely but they just smiled and wished me safe travels. I really wanted to like Copy Pilot and start using them for multiple projects. I submitted an order via email and received confirmation that they would complete the order by that evening, yay! I then received news that the event date would need to change, so I quickly emailed them back and asked them to stop processing if they hadn't started yet (otherwise I totally would have been ok with paying for the original invites and starting over with the new ones). I followed up with a call and was assured that my order hadn't been printed and they would hold off until I sent the new file. Last night I sent the new file and called this morning to make sure we were all set. I was told the original invitation had already been printed so I would need to pay for the original (that I thought I had successfully stopped), as well as the new invitation. Never mind, I'll go elsewhere. Very disappointed! read more
