Their muffins are overflowing with goodness and feel decadent. You can discern the high quality butter. I was crestfallen to find that the "Zest for Life" is just sugary on the outside with not enough cinnamon and orange punch yet stodgy and far too doughy on the inside. My aunt and uncle were questing for the elusive sourdough doughnuts of Bainbridge that they saw on the local news years ago. However, our first mistake was planning our outing on a Monday when most Bainbridge businesses are closed. Coquette was one of the few bakeries open, so we dropped by to inquire about the doughnuts. The gentleman manning the baked goods display seemed like he had just woken up from a nap. He was relatively emotionless and answered our questions with as few words as possible. My uncle asked if they had sourdough doughnuts, and the guy said, "No, not today." And my uncle replied, "When do you usually have them available?" And the man basically implied that they make them sometimes, but they don't know when. We gave up on our doughnut search and opted for the Kentucky butter cake and Nutella macaron, which looked quite festive. We also ordered a chai and pumpkin spice latte. The butter cake was kinda dry, though not too sweet, but it wasn't as tasty as it appeared. My aunt really enjoyed her macaron and chai at least. My PSL was quite basic, and the cup was overflowing, spilling onto the saucer. Still, it was a nice experience to have a quick pick-me-up on a Monday afternoon. read more

This place is so cute inside! Seats so many people inside and out but was sort of cold on the island so we opted for inside. We ordered a small latte and that was honestly not very good. But the pastries made up for it. Chocolate brownie - VERY rich, like didn't want to eat another bite too rich but for the chocolate lovers out there, it's right up your alley! Carmel pecan square - yummy! Tasted just like a pecan pie, delicious, would get again! Buttery/sugary croissant - to die for! So so delicious and wish we got a lot more of those. I can't remember what the pastry we got was called but it was delicious and pictured in the attached photo. It has a sort of caramel butter filling that has a crystallized sugar texture that was just amazing. The worker was very friendly as well! My daughter and I took a little trip to the bakery today and it was beyond expectations. The food was amazing. We both had the breakfast sandwich (mine croissant and my daughter on the salt bagel) and they were so good. The coffee was Cafe Vita and very tasty. Food: Selected a pre-made ham and roasted red pepper sandwich on a baguette (very cafe). It came tied with a lovely red raffia tie. It may seem silly...but small details are appreciated and show care in their customer's happiness and experience. The bread was delicate inside and had a lovely crust. The ham was tasty and not salty. Also enjoyed a cortado with oat milk. Nice and strong, just the way I like it! Service: Walk up and order and find a seat kind of spot. Service was pleasant and helpful when I asked for a recommendation. Salesperson was quick and efficient. Cortado came quickly...which was fantastic because we were freezing! I want to give this place 5 stars because, I appreciate the value in their products. But, I just recently had a rude interaction with a front counter service girl. Blonde hair with an accent. I'm not a tourist to Bainbridge, I am a local. If that has anything to justify being treated that way. As I was ordering my coffee drink after ordering a cookie for my child. She has the nerve to say "that's a lot of sugar" under her breath and continued to be short and rude until I was finished with my transaction. You work in a bake shop. I think my white chocolate mocha is the least of sugar worries. I'll continue to come because, the coffee is good but, I hope you don't service me again or treat others rudely because, you think they are a tourist if that was your reasoning. This is a small, cute bakery, and the interior and overall vibe really reflect that. I have been to many places that call themselves French but do not really capture the feel, and this spot felt more genuine in terms of atmosphere and presentation. We tried quite a few things, including the carrot cake, lemon tart, ham and brie sandwich with roasted tomatoes, cheesecake, and an apple cinnamon pastry. The highlight for me was definitely the cheesecake. It was honestly one of the best I have tried. The carrot cake was also very good and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. The ham and brie sandwich was good and filling. The brie was cut a little thick for my taste, but I still enjoyed it. Most of the other items were good as well. The only thing I did not love was the lemon tart. I am a big fan of citrus desserts, but this one had a very strong, artificial lemon flavor that reminded me of lemon candy, and I was hoping for something more subtle. They have a nice selection of coffee and tea, and the staff was very sweet. What made the experience even better was chatting with a couple of sweet older people sitting behind us, which added to the warm and relaxed atmosphere. A darling little bakery nestled right off of Winslow! We got a Cheddar Chive Biscuit, Pain au Chocolat, mocha, and Latte. The pastries are HUGE. One was enough to fill us up for a few hours, almost like a meal. I really enjoyed the scone. The pain au chocolat was really tasty (how could it not be) but it was more bready than a typical croissant. Weirdly they were blasting Taylor Swifts whole discography there, not sure about that part of the vibe haha. Would recommend! The Zest of Life (orange zest and cardamom sugar croissant/muffin) was one of the best pastries I've ever had in my life. It's salty, sweet, and savory all at the same time. And the panopoly of textures gives a dynamic chewing experience. My husband and I got one to split and had to immediately go back and get two more for later. It's a cute shop in a small mini-mall. We only tried a couple of cookies--and they grow 'em big here. They were surprisingly hard even though it was before noon but they strangely softened up later and were very nice. The macorons looked absolutely beautiful but we didn't try any. Since my group and I were arriving to Bainbridge Island early, we decided to look for some coffee and morning snack to take out. We found this small shop with good reviews for coffee and pastries and decided to check it out! It's located next to Teriyaki Town in Winslow Mall on Winslow Way E on Bainbridge Island. It's a small to-go stand that's not connected to a building. There were tables behind the shop for customers to sit and enjoy their pastries. My boyfriend and I shared a hot London Fog which was very nice in the cold morning. Can't go wrong with an earl grey tea with milk LOL. We also ordered a ham & cheese croissant and omg, it was delicious! The croissant was very fluffy and buttery. It definitely wasn't the traditional croissant with the crispy, flakiness, but I definitely enjoyed the fluffiness of it. Loved how they heated it up for us too! There were a lot of sweet pastry options compared to savory but since we weren't craving any sweets, the ham & cheese was enough for us. Great quick spot to stop at after exiting the ferry terminal! Everybody loves this place on Bainbridge. Time it right and you won't have a line time it wrong and you'll have a line but it moves quickly and services with a smile. They had some gluten-free options not enough vegan options but you could probably get by. I wish they had a vegan soup. Cute little bakery/coffee shop in the downtown area. I got a lavender vanilla latte and it was delicious. We also got a macaron and a pinwheel. They were decent, but not something that I would drive to BI for. We did go a little later in the day so maybe would have been better had it been fresher. There were other items that were sold out that sounded really delicious and their bread looked really yummy. The staff was really friendly and the outdoor space was really cute and relaxing. While we were visiting Bainbridge island we've told this bake shop is one of the best in the area. I second this. Delicious. It's is just a little stand in a commercial area, so no tables to seat, but hey!!! In a pandemic time, grab your goodies and enjoy them at the beach. Great stop for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up. The ham, cheddar, and chive quiche was just ok. The crust was dense and chewy and the quiche flavors unremarkable. Perhaps, the microwave warmup is responsible for the non-flaky crust. The palmier was sweet and yummy. It, too, suffered from denseness and was not the flaky, crispy bite one expects. It is puzzling why both items were so tough and chewy. The other pastries looked delicious and my guess is anything not microwaved fares better. We were glad for the respite and pleasant surroundings. However, we were disappointed in the averageness (if that is a word) of the quiche, palmier and coffee. read more
