I can't remember what the pastry we got was called but it was delicious and pictured in the attached photo. It has a sort of caramel butter filling that has a crystallized sugar texture that was just amazing. The worker was very friendly as well! Definitely need to stop back for more next time we're in Bainbridge!

A small cozy cafe on a beautiful island. Plenty of seats inside. The staff is very friendly. Coffee is decent and the dessert is okay. The price is acceptable. If you in need of a coffee on the way to the Olympic National, this is a good stop.

Delicious ham and roasted red pepper sandwich.

Food: Selected a pre-made ham and roasted red pepper sandwich on a baguette (very cafe). It came tied with a lovely red raffia tie. It may seem silly...but small details are appreciated and show care in their customer's happiness and experience. The bread was delicate inside and had a lovely crust. The ham was tasty and not salty. Also enjoyed a cortado with oat milk. Nice and strong, just the way I like it! Service: Walk up and order and find a seat kind of spot. Service was pleasant and helpful when I asked for a recommendation. Salesperson was quick and efficient. Cortado came quickly...which was fantastic because we were freezing! Ambiance: It is located in a small shopping center at the end of a popular shopping street. It was cold and rainy so we chose to sit indoors. There is seating outdoors for nicer weather.

Love love love this place!!!! The sweet blonde Barista added sprinkles to my London Fog! Made my day. Thank you

This is a small, cute bakery, and the interior and overall vibe really reflect that. I have been to many places that call themselves French but do not really capture the feel, and this spot felt more genuine in terms of atmosphere and presentation. We tried quite a few things, including the carrot cake, lemon tart, ham and brie sandwich with roasted tomatoes, cheesecake, and an apple cinnamon pastry. The highlight for me was definitely the cheesecake. It was honestly one of the best I have tried. The carrot cake was also very good and not overly sweet, which I really appreciated. The ham and brie sandwich was good and filling. The brie was cut a little thick for my taste, but I still enjoyed it. Most of the other items were good as well. The only thing I did not love was the lemon tart. I am a big fan of citrus desserts, but this one had a very strong, artificial lemon flavor that reminded me of lemon candy, and I was hoping for something more subtle. They have a nice selection of coffee and tea, and the staff was very sweet. What made the experience even better was chatting with a couple of sweet older people sitting behind us, which added to the warm and relaxed atmosphere. It is not the best bakery I have ever been to, but it is a good place and worth stopping by.

Definitely walk the extra blocks past the tourist packed bakeries on Bainbridge Island to find Coquette in a small strip mall. There were plenty of breakfast choices, but I can't resist carrot cake and this was one of the best I've had! My husband had a breakfast pastry and it was excellent as well.

    Cheddar Chive Scone

A darling little bakery nestled right off of Winslow! We got a Cheddar Chive Biscuit, Pain au Chocolat, mocha, and Latte. The pastries are HUGE. One was enough to fill us up for a few hours, almost like a meal. I really enjoyed the scone. The pain au chocolat was really tasty (how could it not be) but it was more bready than a typical croissant. Weirdly they were blasting Taylor Swifts whole discography there, not sure about that part of the vibe haha. Would recommend! I don't remember how much each part was but in total it was about $18 dollars.

Enjoy a taste of Paris The quaint Coquette Bake Shop is a hidden gem on Bainbridge Island. It's tucked away in the Winslow Green, which seemed like a local spot. The pastries are phenomenal. The coffee is great! The employees are friendly and helpful! What we tried: - Carrot cake: Contains walnuts , carrots, shredded carrots, raisins with a cream cheese frosting. Not too sweet. - Quiche: Ham, onions, roasted tomatoes, Flaky crust, Jarlsberg cheese - Lattes have wonderful latte art. Tastes just as good as it looks. This place offers many savory and sweet options. If you have a chance, sit outside at one of the tables outside.

    Inside. Nice decor.

They're expensive, but the old adage "you get what you pay for" definitely applies to Blackbird. You may pay more than you might somewhere else, but their quality is exceptional. Today I stopped by for one of their quiches--their spinach and goat cheese--and a lemon blueberry scone. Both were super yummy. I often get one of their chais too, which are also quite tasty (and not at all dry, a common problem with scones). Having Blackbird downtown makes it quite convenient to just stop by while on the way to elsewhere. But sometimes it can be a destination if...you can find seating, which is at a premium most of the day.

After being a BI resident and then moving away I was so excited to make time to stop by Blackbird…read more I had told several friends on the island that I was looking forward to stopping by the bakery and I was surprised to find they had lost their love for it. I figured it was due to taking it for granted... ...I was mistaken. Day one of our trip we ordered several items and none of them were very good at all. We ended up giving items away and thought maybe the bakery was just having an off day. The staff seemed bothered by having to take our order but hey- we all have tough days! Well...day two of our trip we decide to prioritize stopping by again. After a local saw us waiting 30 minutes for our toast and jam she told us to go ask and that "sometimes the staff can get really overwhelmed ". So my daughter stood in line a second time and was told that the employee heard we wanted it to go so it had been sitting at the end of the counter the whole time. We specified we wanted to eat it inside. We asked kindly if they could fix the mistake and we were happy to wait. To my genuine surprise the employee with the pink hair opened the bag of toast, plopped our three orders on trays along with the plastic to go tiny jams and dropped them on our table with the most dismissive uncaring attitude I've seen. You could get more care at a convenient store. We thought we'd try to eat them anyway and the pieces were cold and hard. I asked her about them and her response was "well you asked for to go". Not only does she seem incapable of doing her job basics but as an employer I'm shocked she is granted the simple tasks of serving toast in the first place. She made sure to put plenty of energy into gossiping with her co worker about her irritation with us. We have strong ties on the island still and come back often but we will gladly skip the visit here in the future. I certainly hope these staff members get some basic skills in customer service for their own future.

You can only get regular brewed coffee here; their pastries are the highlight. I have had their pear danish (superb and light) and orange almond cake without gluten (delicious). Scones, muffins, cookies, and canele are also laid out. In terms of bread, their bakery delivers from Port Townsend. Some of the boules and loaves do look hefty. I have bought the "ficelle" a light bread with a satisfying crust in the shape of a baguette. It works as a side bread for an Italian meal or with soups perfectly. The shop is a delightful nook for specialty gifts and treats. It does seem to display an "old world" ambience because of the low-slung roof and architecture. However, the workers are not wearing ironed bakery smocks. They are wearing dodgy street clothes which can touch the items and that's not very "old world Euro" now is it.

I thought the items we grabbed were excessively sweet. Keeping an open mind that they offer a larger variety of pastries and goods I didn't try but my visit felt just average. Line tends to be long but moves at a moderate speed, as the employees are open to chatting. Large Butterhorn - excessively sweet to a point where I felt sick of sugar because it's also pretty big. I personally would rather eat a fluffy donut because this felt more like a condensed block of sugar, but seems to be a favorite for others. Might just not be for me. Swedish Almond Pastry - while this was also super sweet, the almond flavor was able to pop out at times. Sliced almonds on top helped sprinkle some extra flavor but were ultimately consumed by the sweetness. A little flakier in texture which helped dissociate with the dense sugar block.
