While visiting for the weekend, I stopped in for an early dinner. The service was excellent, the food was served hot, and the staff was very friendly and polite. There were so many great entrees and sides to choose from and the food was delicious and well seasoned. I am planning another trip to Camden, just to visit Corinne's Place. We traveled from Philly to go here. Ok there was a line outside with window ordering, food unseen. We placed an order and was told that it would be ready in 30 minutes. It was not ready for over 90 minutes. We noticed that Ladies who Corinne knew by 1st names were ordering after us and were getting their food repeatedly in front of my group of 3. We were told there no turkey wings people came after us got them. She did switch one of our orders for wings when this was noticed. The Stewed chicken was NOT stewed but were fried chicken wings with gravy, salmon cakes did not have any of the bones removed and it was canned, absolutely uneatable, cabbage taste like sauerkraut and macaroni and cheese was just noodles and cheese, with no taste, potato salad was ok but let me tell you, the sweet potatoes were on POINT and so was the gravy, delicious. But even so, good soul food it was not and we repeatedly heard the staff being rude to customers who had any complaint. There was a tent in adjourning yard to sit and eat. Big disappointment. Would not go again. For $24 Per person in my group total waste of time and money. read more

When your craving your way back, Soul Food spot, except that old thang is all the way in Brooklyn. After about 20 minutes of searching Yelp for Soul Food spots "nearby" we can across Corrine's Place. Definitely in an area I wouldn't typically frequent, but when the food is THIS good it doesn't even matter! Found street parking, and moseyed on in with my party of 6. It was self seating so were greeted and seated immediately. Not too long after we chose our table we were met by our server. I'm sorry I don't remember her name, but she was amazing. Took us a minute to figure out what we all wanted since I read the reviews and literally wanted to eat everything, lol. Once our orders were in it took about 30 mins for our food to be ready, but when it came out - LORDT! Everything was hot and amazing! I would definitely come back for takeout. Firstly, besides how utterly delicious the food was... the portions are massive! I've been living in the north for two years now and dying for good southern/soul food. This hit the mark. The company van passed me one day in the road and i had to look it up. I couldn't stop eating the Mac and cheese and the yams had a really great flavor with the spices used. Will be back. Customers waiting around for pre-ordered holiday meals for literally hours on end in a catering tent that was poorly ventilated. Phone ringing off the hook, with what I presume were customers calling to alert the establishement of their arrival to pick up their order. Running out of particular food items. Employees running around like chickens with their heads cut off on walkie-talkies. I can't comment on the food itself because I was completely unimpressed and left after an investment of 2+ hours of my time. A complete fiasco. The food is the best soul food around. The prices are reasonable for the portions you get. Most of the staff is personable. The service is great. Corrine and her husband are both very professional and personable with thier customers. One thing I have found is that many black establishments lack in that area, sadly. My favorite is the Sunday buffet. I get a platter from here almost every Sunday before football. The only thing I would change if I could is the location. Parking can sometimes be difficult to find and when it gets rly crowed on Sundays, there's barely any place to stand. I would love if they opened up another one in another location and started branching out. But overall, no complaints. Great job! read more

I met a group of people here for a dinner buffet and I was so happy I made the trek to Camden for this. While the entire menu wasn't on the small buffet everything was damn good. The highlights were the baked mac & cheese and fried chicken. To me these are good barometers of the rest of the menu at any soul food/BBQ place. I haven't had mustard greens and yams since I lived in the south (over 10 years ago) but being at a new place I tried them both and was very happy with them both. The cornbread was ok but I admit to being really picky with that. Fellow diners say the ribs are fantastic so that will be on my plate next time. This was a small small in the middle of Camden which probably contributes to or not being more well known outside of locals like it should be. I am not an expert when it comes to soul food so please bear with me. As long as something tastes good, I am cool with that. And did Corrine's place impress my taste buds? I would say that they did ... and did not. I decided to order the Cajun Turkey wings with two sides: Candied Yams and Collard Greens. First things first, they really outdid themselves in making sure that sides were filled to the brim! I had to save the collard greens for another day and it literally filled an entire bowl that I had at home. The collard greens were absolutely delicious and they tasted fresh. Candied yams were also very respectable and not too overly tart and sweet. ... Now for the Main entree: Cajun Turkey Wings. The platter includes 5 turkey wings for the price of $13.50. Not a bad deal at all. The wings were literally on the teetering on the edge of being a tad overseasoned. Still eatable but I didn't relish the process of eating all five of them. Will I be ordering them at this restaurant again? Nah, I think I will stick with Aunt Bertha's Cajun Turkey wings. Nevertheless, I will surely try something else on their menu. Food was very good. We had a large hungry group and we had to dine outside because the restaurant was being renovated. It was the first time there. The waiter was young very kind, respectful and patient. It took us awhile to get our food. I don't think that they were set up to cater to dining outside it was better to takeout. What made the dining experience good was the person from kitchen came to verify our orders and the personal touch the owner Corinne came to make sure that we were ok. As always, the food here is excellent. You'll find that many soul food restaurants will use items from the can, aside from the string beans (which were likely doctored up) nothing from Corrine's is can made AND if it is, they make the sole effort in hiding this fact unlike many places. On average you'll spend about $15 bucks a platter here. (Main dish with two sides) but the portions are HUGE! You get what you pay for. The food tastes fresh and is always well cooked and seasoned, I literally have no complaints there. My only complaint would be the wait time of course. Its a small restaurant so if you are picking up, it can get a little chaotic in there as you will be among others waiting as well. I have been a bit nervous about the possible mix up of orders due to the demand but this has not happened yet. The wait time is not convenient. However, this is the price you pay when food is normally cooked fresh, you will have to wait. We were told 45 mins, but it ended up being a little over an hour in total. If you can deal with the minor negatives, you'll be satisfied here. read more

Our organization held a dinner at Corrinne's last week for our entire taskforce. Corinne, Deana, Jasmine, and all of the staff, were extremely inviting, flexible, and wonderful. We had a large party (much larger than they've had in the past) and one of our local partners said that we absolutely had to book dinner here. Corrinne's has been around for a long time and is a staple in the city of Camden, both as a restaurant and as a community spot. Jasmine helped me plan the dinner over several months, and when our guests showed up with special requests, Corinne immediately whipped something up for us. We also had two large shuttles, so the staff saved us a spot right out front with their own vehicles. The food was absolutely mouth-watering, which I heard throughout the night and the next morning from our attendees. It was difficult to get everyone back on the shuttle at the end of this night! Well, I have had a friend plead with me to go to this restaurant. It took me forever to find this place and I was not impressed. I always order make and cheese at soul food restaurants as this is usually a good indicator of the rest of the food in (imo)The Mac and Cheese was not at all tasty. Noodles were close to mush, barely any seasoning and lacked cheese. Fried chicken had a very good taste to it. Very cruncy, seasoned throughout but a little dry and greasy. I LOVE this little place. I am a huge fan of soul food but I haven't a clue how to make it myself. Corinne makes it like mom would have made it... if mom could cook! I used to work in Camden and would order from here about once a month -- though I could definitely go for her smothered chicken and collard greens EVERY day if I were willing to compromise my size 4/6 waistline. When I left that office the thing I missed the most was Corinne's. The prices are more than reasonable and the portions are huge. There aren't that many restaurants in the city with this many reviews, so that right there should tell you something. Even before I ever came here, I knew Corrine's Place was revered for it's high quality both inside the city and out. I went there tonight for dinner with a group of friends and it definitely did not disappoint. The menu is roughly broken up into meals, which come with two sides, and sandwiches. I got a meal of fried pork chops, mac and cheese, and collard greens. I'll get to that in a second, because even before your meal comes, you get the option if a piece of cornbread. Seriously, I don't think I've had such a warm, heavenly piece of cornbread like this before. It's going to spoil me for other places' bread. The meal itself was super good. It came with *two* fried pork chops, a crazy huge portion, but which were absolutely delicious. They were lightly battered and fried, but still tender and juicy. The collard greens were good, as was the mac and cheese (which are even better if you add in some of the hot sauce that sits in the middle of each table). And since you probably won't finish the whole thing, you've got a little bit of lunch for the next day. One thing to note too is if you're interested in going and trying a bunch of different things, they've got a Sunday buffet for $15. However you do it, definitely give Corinne's Place a try. read more
