For a hotel restaurant, this place was good. The cheese selection on the cheeseboard was nothing spectacular. But the accoutrements were excellent. The crisp seared salmon dinner was hit and miss. The salmon wasn't exactly crisp, but was roasted nicely and very tasty. The vegetables were seasonal and well seasoned. The wilted spinach and plain white rice though? They left something to be desired. The spinach wasn't seasoned at all. And it was literally just steamed shore rice, not pilaf. Pretty elementary considering the prices here. read more

Three star meal. Two star service. So. We were staying at The Cork Factory Hotel for my 30th birthday. we wanted to go to the Iron Hill Brewery, however they had a 45 minute wait, for three people. It's Friday night, so I wasn't surprised. We chose the Cork and Cap restaurant as a last minute decision, we were on a time crunch, and had to be back at the lobby for our cab at 7:30pm. First off. We asked for a seat in the bar. The hostess (who was mildly rude) told us that there were "50 people "smashed" in there right now" so we were going to walk away mainly because we didn't want to wait 45 minutes. THANKFULLY, another woman walked up and promptly explained to the hostess that she could rearrange the reservations, and we could be seated immediately. Well gee. Thanks. So. We were seated. The place was swanky and modern, but incredibly loud. So loud in fact I was having a hard time hearing the two other people at my table. The bar (which we were told was PACKED) was not. I could easily see 6-7 tables empty.. Which for obvious reasons really annoyed me) The waiter came over, told us the specials, we ordered drinks. Then waited 15 minutes for said drinks. I also thought that I made it clear we wanted the steam clams as the appetizer. Apparently he was distracted and didn't hear me? So we waited another 10 minutes and finally got to order. The manager was awkwardly standing by our table as our waiter was taking our order. Then he actually interrupted him, asking him some question that clearly couldn't wait. That was a first. Overall. First Time Visiting / Brunch Experience: My in laws offered to take my wife and I to brunch to celebrate my birthday. I chose this restaurant because it had been recommended by several colleagues and we are always up for trying new places. Great decor and atmosphere for a dining experience but that quickly faded as time went on. Our waiter (Chad) was pleasant but incredibly slow with coffee and taking our order. In fact, we had a few different waitresses stop by to fill in the wide gaps of time where our waiter was no where to be seen. All said and done it took approx 50 min to an hour for our food to come once we sat down. Unacceptable. The food was good/ok, I recommend the brunch burger personally. The redeeming factor of the experience and the only reason I am giving 2 stars, was Abby. For whatever reason, she was waiting on the party behind our table but not ours. She was excellent! Not only did she do a phenomenal job with the her tables throughout the restaurant and even came to check on us a few times to make sure we had what we needed. I would bet the farm that she made mention to the manager of our experience which led to the drinks being taken off our bill. As you can imagine, we were all quite jealous of the party behind us who had a completely different experience than ours due to Awesome Abby. If you decide to come to this restaurant, I recommend you get seated in Abby's section! Not only does she clearly have pull in the kitchen as every table she waited on seemed to have their food in a timely manner but she is the reason why we the consumers of the world, choose to leave our home to dine out. My husband and I dined at Cork and Cap tonight for the first time. We are new to Lancaster County from Chester County and consider ourselves "foodies". Byrce our server was excellent and the appetizer of pan-seared scallops we ordered was a great start. They were perfectly done. My husband ordered the rack of lamb and I asked if the beef brisket could be done gluten free by swapping out the gnocchi for the rice pilaf. The rack of lamb was excellent as it was very lean. My husband said they were the best he's ever had. My beef brisket was good but missed that rich taste I was longing for. Being gluten intolerant, I was very disappointed that there was no gluten-free dessert on the menu. All in all, a great "date night" out! read more

I've heard soooo many good things about this place but honestly, it wasn't that great! Service was super, super slow and the food was actually average. The location is beautiful with a lot of historic art and items in a beautiful brick building. The bar was super lively when we were there and once in the dining area I wished we were back at the bar. I felt like we were banished to the no fun zone. The waitress took forever to take orders, bring drinks and I think she checked on us once. I had the meatloaf because I was told that it was one of their best plates. It really had little to no flavor at all. The Mac n cheese was just like regular Mac n cheese. Nothing exciting about it. What a great way to spend our NYE date night! Cork & Cap did have a pre-fixed menu, but the choices were delicious! Candy Cane Martini was on so delicious. The perfect holiday cocktail. Mint pieces, peppermint schnapps, and cream made this drink perfect. The lobster bisque was on point. Creamy, just enough salt, and large pieces of lobster! Definitely an appetizer I would order again. My fiance` ordered the Caesar salad. The dressing was peppery and light, definitely not too heavy. I ordered the filet. One of the best steaks I have ever had. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked (medium). The mashed potatoes were so creamy and the green beans were crisp. The sauce on the filet, sort of a demi glace, was to die for! Scallops weren't too big or small and broiled to perfection. They were like butter. I was a little disappointed with the dessert I ordered. The crepe` was not filled with anything, which made it sort of like an empty tortilla shell. My husband and I came to Cork & Cap for our anniversary, our waitress was very nice and filled us in on all the specials. However, clam chowder was the soup of the day and I asked before ordering if there was bacon (pork) in the soup. Our waitress asked the chef and she was assured there was no pork. I took 3-4 spoonfuls of the clam chowder which was good BUT had bacon in it which I specifically asked about before ordering. I was offered an apology and complimentary desert which I appreciated. I don't eat pork due to my own preference, not due to an allergy but if that was the case this could have been much more serious. Ambiance was very nice and my pan seared duck was good. They had a buffet and an assortment of different food and drink choices- eggs, fruit, yogurt, bagels, toast, cereal, hash browns, coffee, tea, juice. The place was clean and very cool to be in. The staff was also friendly. We ate lunch here and I made a reservation on open table. I probably did not need to. The menu was extremely limited, but the food was good and the prices were as well. I really love this place! The atmosphere is very nice with cool ambient lighting. The food is all really top-notch! I got the rosemary roasted chicken, and it was *amazing.* The chicken had great flavor, was cooked really perfectly, and was beautifully juicy/tender. The potatoes & green beans were also super delicious! I absolutely loved my dish. The opening dinner rolls were also great! I will say husband got a shrimp pasta dish that he was not quite as much of a fan of, though. Also, our waitress was friendly, but a bit toooo talkative. The vibe of this place is great, decorations were awesome, and wait staff was super friendly. Unfortunately the food didn't match up to everything else. Scallop appetizer was really good, you had to specifically ask for a bread basket (they were only giving it out if you asked), and the dinners were just okay. Brisket was a bit tough and not nearly as tender as you would have expected. Odd grape tomatoes seemed like they were just thrown on top. As we were eating, we kept trying to figure out what the one item was and we figured out it was gnocchi. Just not good at all, super tough and dense. We also had the steak, which I ordered medium rare and it came out medium well. I will say that I'm sure if I said something they would have sent out a new one, but we had plans afterwards and couldn't wait. Also just disappointing to not get what you ordered. Cork & Cap opened a couple days ago and I had to come and check it out for myself. First off this place is another great example of the revitalization of historic downtown Lancaster. After 5 years of renovation and construction it's doors are open. After doing some exploring on a late sunday afternoon I made my way to the bar and began looking over the various menus and conversing with the other patrons. A great selection of beers on tap, and bottled beer. The wings were excellent but trust me they have much more to offer than wings. Unfortunately I had no room in the tank for an entree. Everyone who ordered food was quite content with their choice. You can look at the menus on their web page. I am looking forward to coming back for dinner. The goat cheese and chicken stuffed ravioli had my full attention. I must say, almost every dish sounds delicious. The rack of lamb sounds amazing too! Great restaurant in Lancaster. It is in the basement of the an old cork factory. The layout is dark and romantic. They constantly change the menu, but there are some great option. The steak was great as well as the mac and cheese. I enjoyed the sea scallops and the roast chicken and mashed potatoes were out of this world. Couldn't get a table at another restaurant so we gave Cork and Cap a try. Seemed empty for a Friday night. Building is beautiful. Staff was good. However, the food was awful. I've had better lobster bisque from a can. The Mac and cheese was bland. Brisket tasted like a bland pot roast. Kids burgers were dry and burnt. On top of all that the crab dip had turned. All the food taste like a cheap hotel breakfast. We will never eat there again. It's a shame because the waitress and hostess were great but everything else was awful. Waste of time and money. The Mac and Cheese that came with his meatloaf was amazing, her pork chop was excellent, and I loved my filet mignon. The vegetables were great, the whipped potatoes good and we were all happy with our wine and beer. My wife and I visited the Cork and Cap early on a friday evening. We did not have a reservation and one was not required which was appreciated. The service was excellent. Very attentive, yet not annoying or overbearing. The food was served in a well timed manner. It didn't come out so fast that we felt like we were being rushed. The food was excellent and prepared well. I had the mushroom risotto and french onion soup. The risotto was awesome. It was cooked properly which is a challenge in itself. The french onion soup has got to be the best in the area. Tremendous. This was our first visit and will not be our last. I know I sound like I work for Cork and Cap, but I don't. I'm pretty critical of restaurants and the food industry and this was a pleasant change from many restaurant experiences. read more

We had a very enjoyable evening. It started with a wonderful server, Doni, who was a lot of fun and very knowledgeable about the menu. We started out with the drink special, champagne cosmos. For an app I had the mushroom, goat cheese, walnut strudel. It was excellent. Very flavorful. My entree was the petite filet stroganoff. It was tasty, but I only wish the filet medallions were thick instead of thin. I had ordered rare and they cooked to just about well-done in the hot sauce very quickly. My friend ordered the chicken and fig marsala and was in heaven. I saw other reviews where the service was apparently slow. We ate around 5:30pm on a Saturday, so we were among the first seated and we had no problems with the time it took to get our drinks and food. My wife did appreciated the pork chop and in fact it was looking very good. I have the strange feeling that there could be 2 restaurants : one empty during a week day where the cook may also be gone and another in the weekend when the place is packed and every thing could be better? Cheesecake was delicious, and we are amateurs. The little cherry on the cake was that the place closing, the lights were off in some spots. The waiter went for a short moment in the shade with no clear objective...and we both thought we heard him fart...and come back after. Oops. Closing at 9:00pm for europeans is a bit hard. Just had lunch there today (Christmas Office Lunch) What a disaster! I am a vegetarian and the only hot entre on the menu that was Veggie friendly was the Roasted Vegetable Tart. After waiting 20 minutes or so I was told it was not available( Its listed on the web-site and the menu given to me!) My only option was the roasted vegetable salad. I agreed but asked the waiter to hold the onions and the blue cheese. The salad arrived on a small plate - a few shredded carrots - two shredded pieces of parsnip AND loads of red onion and blue cheese! Come on people!!! in addition my water was never filled and although the President of our Company asked twice for the Music to be turned down - that never happened. - DO NOT GO HERE FOR LUNCH Especially if you have dietary restrictions!!! read more

The food was absolutely phenomenal! We came here three nights in a row and you just can't beat it! Some really really great food and not an oversized menu, yet a good variety. The first night I got crab cakes, duck the second night, and stroganoff with filet mignon the third. All three were some of the best meals I've had in my life. 4 star meal, 2 star service We came for lunch. My companion had the cork burger and loved it. I had the seared salmon salad and it was excellent. The sweet potato fries were fresh and tasty. We had dessert- key lime tart and chocolate peanut butter torte. Neither was great. The key lime was not tart enough and tasted more like lemon and regular lime than key lime. The peanut butter was more sweet than flavorful. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. But the service was incredibly slow. It took 30 minutes to get our lunch. We waited for the plates to be cleared. And waited another 20 minutes for dessert. Lunch took over 2 hours! Despite the slow service and lackluster desserts, we will come again. Stopped by tonight for a company dinner, party of 14. I've read the poor reviews here and can honestly say that everyone of them had a wild hair up their ass. This place was great! They had one of my most beloved beers on tap, Warsteiner Dunkel (I'm from California, this stuff is extremely uncommon out there, if not rare!) for $5 a pint, and the staff was accurate for such a large party. Service was a bit slow, but expected, given the size of our group. Not one flaw in any order. I had the Salmon and my Manager (huge food critic) had the Mignon. The Salmon came with the skin attached and crisped to perfection, and my manager loved the Mignon... SUPERB by both our counts! Don't bother reading the poor reviews, those people are clearly used to others wiping their asses for them. Great experience, will return for sure! read more

Our first time here last night. Reservations for 7, and were seated immediately. Our server was very attentive. I ordered a lemon basil martini (so good) Our appetizers and salad came out first (shrimp cocktail, fried avocado and garden salad). Veggies and shrimp were cold and the avocado was hot and crispy. FRESH! We had the panko crusted salmon and the crab cakes to share and try both. YUM. No salt or pepper needed. No fillers in the crab cakes. Portion sizes were pretty large for both of us...we ended up not being able to finish everything! Our waters were filled at all times, and we were checked on often. The only issue we had was that even though we were seated in a nice little corner (the place is beautiful), the restaurant itself was incredibly LOUD. I would definitely go again, but perhaps ask to sit outside instead. Bottom line- the staff and servers were great and the food DELICIOUS! read more

Very disappointing meal last weekend. I will not be going back. Decor: Start with the positive! They did a great job making the place look great. The bar is lovely, and it feels cozy without being too crowded. This is why I give it one star. Food: Below average, especially given the prices. My salmon tasted like it was from a wedding buffet. The crab dip appetizer sounded so good but was soupy! Seriously, it was the consistency of a creamy soup. My companions were also unhappy with the duck, tuna, and beef brisket entrees. This has to be the BEST place I have eaten in a long time. We went here on Sept 23rd for my sisters birthday and the food, drinks, waitstaff and atmosphere was amazing!!! We all had soup, salad and entrees. It was so good. I had the crab cakes my boyfriend had the pork chops and my sister had the lamb chops. We could not even speak during dinner because the food was that savory. I live in Philadelphia and I'm use to our local byob's but this has surpassed anything I have eaten.
