Yeah, so much for this shop being a safe zone during the COVID pandemic!! I was just there and…read morethree guys were standing RIGHT outside the door chatting with no masks. I was going to go around them, but then they all went into the store. Only one put his mask on, the other two just waltzed right in. Turned out these were the owner and his buddies, or at the very least someone who worked there. I waited a bit for the air to clear and then went into the store to start to gather my items. I should have just walked away then!! I got through one row and was starting on the second row when I saw one of them go get a soda - with no mask!! He saw me and quickly put on his mask, sort of like an afterthought. I immediately returned the items I had chosen and walked quickly out the door. I will NOT return here, they don't respect the safety of their customers or their workers!! And this during the worst time in the pandemic, where cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are increasing at an alarming rate. They should be ashamed of themselves. Throughout this pandemic I have shopped here several times a week, buying a lot of overpriced goodies. I have probably spent $30-$50 a week here since April. They will definitely notice that they have lost a good customer since I won't be shopping here again. The one star is for the cashiers who are always polite and wear their masks.

Memorial Day weekend on the Central Coast is always a negotiation with chaos. Tourists flood the…read morebeaches, traffic crawls through Pismo, and every scenic overlook suddenly becomes a photoshoot for people who discovered the central coast three days ago. So my girlfriend and I did what locals do this afternoon: we tried to escape the madness and disappear into Los osos for a few hours. Not that there's any "sneaking into" High Street Deli. That line is eternal. It exists outside the laws of time and tourism. Rain or shine, weekday or holiday weekend, there will always be a crowd gathered outside chasing the same thing: the perfect sandwich on the perfect California afternoon. And honestly? They're right. Nothing beats a High Street sando on a sunny day. You grab a Dutch Punch and a cold Cali Squeeze and suddenly everything slows down. The sandwich arrives absurdly overstuffed with layers of turkey, extra bacon, jalapeño havarti, onion, tomato, avocado, chipotle mayo, Dutch crunch bread that's barely surviving the structural pressure holding the whole masterpiece together. It's messy in the way all truly great food is messy. No pretension. No carefully curated "elevated deli experience." Just pure Central Coast comfort engineered for people who spent the morning surfing, hiking Montana de Oro, or sitting in beach traffic questioning their life choices. And the Cali Squeeze? Citrus beer sweating in the afternoon heat while ocean air drifts through Los Osos. That's the high locals chase all summer long. What hurts is admitting publicly how good this place really is. Every local wants to protect High Street like a secret fishing spot. You want visitors to enjoy the coast, just maybe somewhere else first. But denying High Street its flowers would feel dishonest. Because this place is the heartbeat of the Central Coast in summertime. The patio fills with surfers, old locals in sun-faded hats, Cal Poly kids, dogs asleep under picnic tables, couples lingering over beers because nobody here is ever truly in a hurry. Somebody's talking about swell conditions. Somebody else is debating whether to head to Morro Bay after lunch. The smell of sandwiches, sunscreen, and salt air hangs over everything. It's not glamorous. It's better than glamorous. It's real. And somewhere between the first bite of a Dutch Punch and the first sip of a Cali Squeeze, you remember why people who grow up on the Central Coast never fully leave even when they move away. Because they spend the rest of their lives trying to recreate afternoons like this.

Problem...the stores have different items. I had chosen a sandwich that wasn't offered here. We filled out our order forms. I recreated that sandwich to the best of my ability. It had turkey and veggies and cranberry on Dutch crunch bread. We also ordered a Dutch Punch sandwich and a build your own chicken cutlet sandwich. We got two orders and fries, an order of onion rings and 3 fountain drinks. The food arrived at different times as the order was ready. All the food was good. The sandwiches were good sized with lots of filling. The fries were great. The onion rings were the star. They were light and crispy and we all loved them. Parking is not easy in this area. It took a few circles to find a spot. We got a table right away. There was a kitchen-like play area for the kids. That kept them busy while we waited 20-30 minutes for food. Cute shop. They had stickers and baked goods and gifty items. Woman at the counter was a little impatient with customers. One surprise was the total price. Three sandwiches, three drinks, two fries and an order of onion rings plus tip was almost $97. Never had such an expensive sandwich in my life!

The vault was really amazing with an extensive selection of high end wine. The website is really nice to use and seach inventory. I was looking for a specific Armenian wine that I couldnt find in Santa Barbara or SYV, and I had a Paso trip planned. I was happy to have found it at this store by searching the website. I called the day before and asked about purchasing online and picking up. They said no problem, they will pull and hold for me. The next day I stopped by and asked for the hold. A very rude lady accused me of always holdng items and not picking up (short, short hair). She said my name quite loudly. She said "let's be honest here Lisa, you have done this before". I had never been to this store or asked for wine to be held prior to this. Others in my party left and would not purchase because of this behavior. It was embarrassing. The other staff were very nice and helpful. In summary, it is a beautiful liquor store with an amazing selection of wine and spirits at fair prices, great website, and most of the staff at helpful and lovely.

I was craving a good clam chowder. I wanted to try Morro Grill. From their reviews, many said that…read moretheir chowder was really good. I ordered the seafood chowder, loaded! It comes with two pieces of Texas toast. Nicely toasted with a buttery crunch on the outside, yet fluffy anf soft on the inside. Perfect for dipping. Now, about the chowder... The LOADED seafood chowder wasn't really good, it was DELICIOUS!! Our server said it's actually award winning! We will definitely return for their chowder. So flavorful and creamy! Perfect! Our server, Kaitlyn, she was super sweet and also the best. Very thoughtful in thinking of everything. Thank you, Kaitlyn! Morro Grill's reviews looked pretty good so we're looking forward to returning to try their other menu items. Especially their homemade carrot cake that Kaitlin recommended but we were too full. They're located upstairs but they have an elevator if you need it. They have indoor and outdoor seating (right on the water). The outside can get a little warm on sunny days but not as hot as the Central Valley! Morro Grill has only been here a year but we hope they'll last many more, for our return trips!

Mostly we were excited about the mid 90's, early 2000's music playlist that included Biggie; Bone, Thugs, & Harmony; Craig Mack; and some classic R&B joints I'm failing to remember right now. All this while we enjoyed two very cold beers - Michelob ultra for the babe and a Big Sur Double IPA on tap at 9.6 ABV for me. All this, paired with the wings, which were outstanding BTW, and it made for a great stop. Other things to know. -Order of 12 wings can be split into two flavors (choice of buffalo, bbq, or mild). We went with buffalo and bbq extra crispy. -The buffalo have an added pepper seasoning that we loved -Bathrooms are downstairs (there's also an elevator) -2 of the 3 TV's at the bar were not working (biggest critique) -There is outside seating with view of the rock and a beautiful sunset if you time it right (we did, but it was a bit hazy due to the fog or overcast or whatever you call it) -Also, we didn't try any other food so we can't vouch for much else but everything people had looked good and we didn't hear any complaints. TRY IT OR DIET FINAL WORD Definitely try it. Matter of fact, we're going to take our own advice and try it again later today!
