We ordered two appetizers, one being mussels and they did not come out when the chef had originally wanted them to be served, so he did not charge us. This is a very unique and festive location. My husband and I went here for our first post baby date. We sat in a nice quiet room, a welcome change from the newborn and 2 year old at Home. Service was excellent. I do wish they had more wines by the glass. Prices were reasonable for cocktails. Entrees came with salads and sides which was nice. Husband had the ribs which he raves about. I had orange roughy special. It was great. Service was very quick, so we told the waiter to slow down. He was great. We'd go back, and we wouldn't bring kids under 8. Best food in Medina, hands-down. I have been here a few times, the most recent time was for a fundraising event. Every time I'm there the food is absolutely incredible. Come with an appetite because the BLT flatbread pizza is a must, along with the coconut breaded chicken and crispy asparagus. "Bob Chins" and "The Signature Room" top the list, so the choice to move closer to family here in Ohio meant the end of great food, so we thought. Fabulous Victorian charmer revamped as a great stop for sandwiches and drinks. Staff takes great care of repeat customers and with two floors of dining, there are many private spaces to be had. Such a shocking disappointment! We have been going to this place for years and have always had good food and service. I can only hope last night was the exception. Our server was absent for the first 25 minutes after we were seated. Took almost an hour to take our order. And then when I complained it didn't really get any better! I ate 1/2 of my entree because the second piece of tuna was tough & chewy. One of our friends two beef short ribs was inedible! They comped desserts for us all. But in my estimation, not enough was done or said! Our checks should have been adjusted accordingly! That means this is also a management issue. Or a server who never went to a manager to let them know people had sent back entrees. An adjustment would have been in order at the very least. I can't say I won't go back. But it will be a while! YThey can squeeze 5-6 glasses out of a single (cheap) bottle of wine just to make more profits, but people who know aren't fooled. Re-cooking and then reserving an item they didn't get right the first time may make them feel like a smart business people, but that's their idea of quality, they don't have a clue. Charging white table cloth prices in a bar quality environment...I'm not buying it. A couple of main dishes with shorted main items and a couple of glasses of wine does not equate to an $80 meal. My wife and i had been looking forward to trying this place out and were very excited once we saw the menu but were disappointed in the food and price! service was pretty good other than when the server came to the table and smelled like an ashtray. that was the first turn off. For starters the $15 corkscrew flight appetizer is all deep fried blah but the description gives a different picture, plus for the small qty you get it should be $7.99. max If they are known for best seafood in Medina then Red Lobster must be the premier seafood in the area. I had the Costa Rican King fish( $25) and you could tell it was frozen because of the texture- water logged and flavor was off. My wife had the flat iron steak, it was Ok other than the the peppercorn gravy that tastes like from a package. we had one appetizer, two dinners, water to drink and was $65.00 before tip. This was our first visit to the Corkscrew Saloon and we were pleasantly surprised. Our server was friendly and helpful without being overly so. She suggested several of the specials- the red snapper and the monkfish which two of us tried and enjoyed. I had the grouper which was excellent. I've been meaning to write a review for a while as this is another great option in Medina. It is a bit outside of town, to the West, but well worth the two to three minute drive from the Medina Town Square. The building has a rich history and has been renovated tastefully. They have outdoor seating in warmer weather and a variety of intimate to larger rooms to dine in. I eat here fairly often and find their burgers ("Angus Steak"....the best!!!) to be very good. They also have an open faced steak sandwich that is yummy, and a good selection of soups and lunch salads. Dinner is a little bit more formal, but you can also have more casual items outside and in the bar area. For dinner, I love the "Veal Aurora" (not sure if it's named after the city or the car?). The rack of lamb is very tasty, (it's a 1/2 rack), and the "Flat Iron Steak" is just the right size for me, coming in around 8 oz. They have a good wine by the glass selection and the service is excellent. They also do catering. read more

Had dinner yesterday. We have been there in the past. We were disappointed this time. the lettuce wraps were very good. Our salads mixed greens were limp. And all that was on them were two cherry tomatoes. My husband's fillet mignon was so small it looked like it was from a kid's menu. The flank steak was listed as some of the most tender steak. The food, service, and atmosphere were all awesome! My husband and I were a bit leery after reading mixed reviews, but we had a gift card so we decided to give it a try. It was excellent all around! We started with the fried calamari appetizer. It was tender and crispy and came with a delicious dipping sauce. I make it a point to try calamari everywhere I go, and this is one of my top 5 favorite. I ordered the Veal Aurora and it was hands down the best veal I've ever had. The sides of the day were scalloped potatoes and asparagus, and it came with a side salad as well. The asparagus was a bit overcooked, but everything else was great. My husband ordered the Pasta Newburg and he loved his meal too. The seafood was super fresh and cooked to perfection. The pasta tasted fresh and homemade too. The service was absolutely top notch. Our server was polite, attentive, and very professional. He could be working at an upscale New York restaurant! The atmosphere was cozy and romantic, perfect for a date night. We were seated in one of the downstairs rooms which was quaint and quite. There was an upstairs section as well which we never visited, but seemed more lively. Bottom line is .... "We got screwed at the Corkscrew" It was a frigid night but a magical one too. My lovely daughter was in town from San Francisco. My son was home from UC with his girlfriend. We were on a high from the warmth and glow of a beautiful Christmas holiday season...and we had just gone to the Medina Cinema to see AVATAR. We had heard about this "restaurant-in-a-mansion" near the square and thought we would check it out. Having owned 2 century homes, we were all crazy about the charming architecture and interior. The hostess was extremely sweet and accommodating, sitting us in a front room that unfortunately was not well heated. We were willing to overlook that and just tolerated the temperature. We chose a bottle of wine and the brie appetizer and were excited about EATING. (We were all famished by this time) After a VERY long time the waitress brought the wine. My son commented on how cold the temperature of the wine was. We all agreed. Add cold wine to a cold room with 5 hungry people and this is not a great combination. We decided to mention this to the waitress. That the wines serving temperature seemed way too cold. seemed innocent enough at the time. ...then after another extremely loooonnnnnng time we finally received our appetizer. okay no bread in sight but at least we had a few crackers and some cold wine. At this point, one of the managers comes over and kindly apologizes for the wine being too cold and would we be open to him removing it from the bill? I say "Oh thank you very much! of course we wouldn't mind" We're in the middle of ordering our meals when one of the owners... storms over and THROWS a piece of paper on the table at me and shouts while POINTING AT ME" I can't believe we're taking your wine off the bill when we did everything right!" We were STUNNED. This piece of paper was something he googled about the serving temperature of wine and printed out for us. My daughter proceeded to write on the back of this paper, an extremely detailed note on our utter disbelief at how we had been treated. She works at a beautiful nightclub in SF and knows the customer is always right. We are appalled and stunned and still hungry and cold... .....and MAD! On the way out, the mean, part-owner is lurking by the door, ready to pounce. I take another shot and start berating him for the way he treated us. My daughter chimes in... hot and upset about the situation. and finally my husband who is normally a calm guy (in public anyway) gives him a few words. This was unthinkable for a person in management! After all, we didn't ask for the wine to be taken off the bill... they offered!!!!! There is a happy ending.... We ended up at Stanosousso's (and I may not have spelled that right) on 18. It was WARM. It had lovely atmosphere, the management was totally gracious and the food was SUPERB!!!!!!! read more

Came to The Corkscrew Saloon to celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary with my wonderful wife. I made online reservations letting staff know about the anniversary. I called to verify my reservation a few days later (they did mention they had it and that it was my 25th anniversary). We get seated and got the calamari appetizer...wonderful, tender rings and tentacles. Salad and rolls came next salad eh, rolls are the same ones we get from grocery frozen. A nice crusty bread would have been a better choice. We ordered a pitcher of long island iced tea...yummy!!! Wife got lobster dominico, small portion but she loved it. I ordered the pasta newburg, The sauce, the shrimp, scallops and lump crab were delicious. However the pappardelle pasta was stuck together and did not cook properly so they were gummy, this diminished the enjoyment of the dish. Not one person, waitstaff, manager, owner came to table to wish us a happy anniversary...that would have been a nice touch...opportunity missed. If you want to be a fine dining establishment, you should pay attention to the small details, go the extra mile. So we were there for the comedy show after dinner we were seated near the back. Now the show starts the first comedian up was the host Larry. Larry seems new to the comedy club scene. I say this due to the fact that a gentleman who was clearly drunk....now known as drunky mcdrunk starts shouting at Larry, Larry did his best to put him down but he does not stop. In the meantime drunky mcdrunk is drinking and drinking and drinking. We learn so much about drunky mcdrunk..his name is Anthony he is 55 blah blah blah we know to much about a rude interrupting drunk. So next comedian comes up of course drunky mcdrunk starts yelling things out to him well of course the comedian thinks he can control him well guess what he can't and we spend half the time listening to drunky mcdrunk slurring his words yelling out. Where is management? So of course drunky mcdrunk is up at the bar...again yelling out to the comedian, mrs drunky mcdrunk is yelling at the comedian "he can't hear you, He can't hear you". So the whole crowd is listening to a frustrated comedian, drunky mcdrunk and mrs drunky mcdrunk. Just ruining the second act (what the comedian did get out was pretty funny). So onto the headliner. Now drunky mcdrink thinks this is his night. It's all about him the poor headliner had to start and restart the same joke many times over...drunky mcdrunk can't control himself. So now drunky mcdrunk is back at the bar and mrs drunky mcdrunk is yelling at him from her seat her order and other things,The whole show comes to a halt, we are all sitting there listening to these two drunks shouting orders at each other slurring their words the comedian trying to get control of the situation telling them to go back to their trailer etc.... so i say to mrs drunky mcdrunk and i quote "there is a show going on here you know". Well drunky mcdrunk comes down his row of seats with drinks in tow stops right in front of me leans over the empty chair between us and points his finger in my face and says "be nice". Are you kidding me....so i tell drunky mcdrunk to please sit down and be quiet he is ruining the show for everyone...well of course drunky mcdrunk continues and the comedian has lost control over the room. So does someone come to talk to drunky mcdrunk? NO! Where the heck is management? Where are bouncers? Both Drunky Mcdrunk and Mrs drunky mcdrunk shout during the whole show, All three comedians have to stop their show to deal with him...it is clear he is being over served we counted seven times. Someone should have quietly came over and told drunky mcdrunk to cool it or be tossed..no one came over. Thank you Corkscrew and drunky mcdrunk for a wonderful Anniversary!!! read more

My husband & I went out for dinner to celebrate our Anniversary this evening. After considering many places in the Medina area as well as out of the area. We made reservations and had dinner at the Corkscrew Saloon. Delicious Food, Impressive portions, very nice menu selection, outstanding friendly service & a Beautiful patio. We both enjoyed an adult beverage, shared appetizer, dinner (Full rack of ribs for my husband & I had the Grouper) and a shared dessert.
