    House-made pickles!

Good sandwiches, friendly staff, good lighting. Had the Cactus Jack, which was on a toasted onion bun and it was super delicious. The homemade pickles are dope, too.

We loved this store!…read more We each got one of the warm ciabatta sandwiches - The Soprano, The Mama Cass, and The Local - and they were all the perfect midday pick me up before driving through the Tunnel of Trees. We also got a dinner size chicken pot pie and a mini beef pot pie to heat up at the Airbnb and oh my goodness was that an excellent choice. Delicious. Also, do NOT miss out on their fresh cookies. Crazy good. We took a bunch of those to go as well. The souvenirs and other odds and ends are a nice selection, but honestly I would come just for the homemade goods and the super friendly people. A must stop when adventuring through this area of Michigan.

It's got snacks and drinks and a variety of souvenirs and locally made goods, and it's got a restroom. All very important things that you really need when you're out in what seems a bit like the middle of nowhere. Additionally I believe that they have some hot food, (which I didn't try), but if you need that then they've got you covered. Overall a great place to stop and take in a bit of the local vibe and get yourself a souvenir or something to snack on as you continue your trip. An old historic building along a picturesque drive with friendly people...if you see it, you pretty much have to stop so go ahead and do that. You'll be glad that you did.

Lots of prepared food items in here…read more I wanted to eat a ton of food here, had it make it a quick trip so I wouldn't buy more food than I would be able to eat, plus we have no fridge in our hotel to keep the food. Their sandwiches, bowls, potato salads all look so yummy. We came knit to grab some water and head back on the roads

If you want a environmentally conscious, casual breakfast and lunch place without artificial…read moreadditives this is your spot. It is a fun location with plenty of seating, bright ambience and friendly staff. There is a parking lot out the back or street parking which is harder to find but doable. There are some options like smoothies and other 'healthy' choices which is what attracted us to drive over and try it out. Sadly given that I am vegan I found there to be very limited choices. The menu says vegan and gluten free options available but from I could tell only two things could be made vegan. It was disappointing but if we had really studied the menu I might have been more prepared. My husband tried the special of an olive filled cheese with Brussels sprout slaw which he throughly enjoyed. He said the olives were tangy and led to a great balance with the feta. It was a small portion so I shared with him so might not satisfy some for lunch. I ordered the power bowl with curried cauliflower, rice, sweet potatoes, avocados and black beans. It was pretty good but as I didn't want the cream (forgot to ask for vegan option but coconut yogurt was potentially available) it was not as creamy as possible. I think a cashew cream would have been the best option. The potato salad side was pretty bland as well, so not the best choice. I had to add tons of pepper to season it, which I try to never do but go with the chefs preference. Not an option here. My suggestion would be to have one totally vegan you don't have to ask to change anything option so as to be welcoming to those of us 'crazies' as in a new spot it is just hard to catch all the subtleties of menus. It reminded me of a healthy version of Panera to be honest. Good but not my first choice. Thus my 3 stars as if you are going to tout yourself as the healthy option then make more room for those doing optional lifestyles.

Enjoyed the banana cream pie; flaky crust, beautiful, fluffy and creamy. Service. Very friendly when you walked in, eventhough we arrived half hour before closing. They did not act too annoyed. It is a small town and they can tell we were 'tourists' because they seemed to know everyone else that came in, and walked over to the bar area. We were sat near the front windows of the main dining room. Then a large table of 6 adults got sat next to us when there is OTHER ample seating in the rest of the restaurant. I do not get why staff does that? Do you think we like diners next to us talking about their colonoscopies and health procedures that end in 'ectomies' while we (a couple) are trying to have a quiet dinner? *smh* Ambiance. Bright. Nautical decor. I think? Clean. Open kitchen. Nice. Parking and things of note. Street parking. Look clean and stocked. This joint does charge an additional SUSTAINABLE FEE when you pay with plastic and not cash. *rolled eyes* Anyway, photodocumented the overall experience which we would rate 'good' because we did come back for the salad, desserts, and service.
