Very very very great food. The cornbread is the best (hence the title of the established ). I ordered the catfish, with Mac and cheese collard greens ,potatoe salad , candied yams, cabbage . All was very very good . First time there so I decided to try them all. I also ordered the apple cobbler which was good tasting , not too sweet just how I like it . The fried chicken was also amazing . I recommend this place. Driving from westchester county mount kisco. Happy eating . The service was amazing. Very nice people. First, don't expect fine dining or a true sit down restaurant when you come here. Despite ample seating, it's more of a fast casual spot. There's kiosks to order and a live cashier at Chipotle like stations. Everything looks clean and well maintained. Now, we were definitely pleasantly surprised by the food. All were hot and delicious so I'd definitely recommend it. The only reason why I didn't give it five stars is because there's not much direction for newbies. Initially we didn't realize that it wasn't a sit down spot, didn't know where to sit, and there's a strong smell- it's food related but overpowering. read more

The restaurant has plenty of seating and availability. The staff were iffy with customer service as they didn't respond to my pleasantries but the gentleman that put my order together was nice enough to add another piece of chicken. Now speaking of my order. It smelled delicious and I was excited and knew that it would taste good as I pull the pieces of chicken out of the box. Unfortunately the breast was over cooked but the breading and skin were good. The wing and thigh were alright. The Mac and cheese were somewhat average. Nothing to write home about or order again. Wow, this place is special. It's also conveniently close to the Brooklyn Museum. The namesake cornbread is perfect, with just the right balance of corn and sweetness. I also ordered the potato salad, which was nicely done and not heavy on the mayo. The potatoe had the perfect texture. Can't wait to come back and order the chicken... read more

I took my mom to cornbread for her birthday she really loves this restaurant. I ordered the catfish PO'BOY sandwich it was her first time eating it and she enjoyed it. The staff was very friendly and atmosphere was very welcoming. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for casual day out especially in summer time with outside seating. Service at the counter could've been friendlier. The young girls in the front could use a refresher course in greeting customers, explaining how things work to new customers like myself, as well as speaking instead of looking confused when asked questions. Other than that, the space is clean, nice decor and spacious. The food was good. Recommend the catfish! read more

I took my mother to lunch for her birthday and came across Cornbread while searching. Many of my Yelp friends had great things to say, so I ventured here. Upon arrival, I noticed the large outdoor seating outside and a rather large indoor space. As it was our first time here, I was confused about what to get, but the lady was very helpful and patient with me. I ordered the whitting with two sides (Mac and Yams). Fried Chicken (Mac and Collard Greens) for my mother and Fried Chicken (Macaroni) first my daughter. You have the choice of going with one side or two sides with the entree. Also, you can choose between three or four pieces of chicken. The food didn't take too long, but despite being a casual fast food, they bring your order to your table. The food was wonderful-- my mother was a huge fan of the food. I ordered a peach and Apple cobbler to go. I had the Apple cobbler, which I didn't car for too much, but that was okay, since I was happy with my meal side from the dessert. I would definitely recommend this place for a lunch or dinner. Also, I commend the staff because they actually seem to care about the patrons. As I waited for my take/out, I was asked about my thoughts, the food, the experience, and whether it was my first time here, which I appreciated. read more

Unfortunately I am disappointed. This was my favorite place in brooklyn for soul food. The last time I was here I also sat inside and didn't do takeout so I don't know if that is why the food doesn't taste as good. The Whiting that I got was not good The taste was off and definitely not worth $25. The collard greens were not flavored correctly. The mac & cheese was good and the cornbread was good. The name definitely speaks for itself because the cornbread was delicious! Very moist and sweet just like how I like it. The fried whiting could use some more flavor and the rice with Turkey gravy. I thought the macaroni and cheese was pretty good and the chicken was seasoned well. The southern twang drink tasted like either minute maid Orangeade or Tampico Citrus punch. I would come back if there is nothing else to eat in the area. read more

Read the many mix of reviews ..I decided to give it a try. set up like a fast food place, but it does have seating as a dine in restaurant the old R&B music was playing., All the other customers seem like they are from down south too lol anyhow I got the three-piece chicken. They didn't ask me what pieces I wanted, but I got a breast a wing and a thigh, which was decent. I got lucky it just came out the frying pan. It was good for a fast food soul food to me. The chicken was fried to a tea. The macaroni was the best macaroni I've had for a restaurant in a while. The cornbread was moist. They could keep the yellow rice and drink was nice and sweet. The young lady who who helped me was pleasant . I know they're gonna have a high water bill because the water in the first bathroom doesn't shut off. I give a four stars one star for the chicken one star the macaroni, one star for the cornbread and one star for their sweet tea. If you don't feel like cooking, you can go here. read more

I love to order from Cornbread when I am in Brooklyn. It is some great soul food and one of the few places that reminds me of good southern cooking. This gave me a touch of home. I really loved everything I got from the cornbread, fried chicken, collard greens (extra yummy!) and mac and cheese. When it comes to cornbread everyone has their preferences, I personally love a variety of different kinds and for different reasons. This one is more like a cake but it is super moist and dessert like. I loved it. Mixed with some of the savory sides, it was such a delicious and balanced meal. This is a very fast, casual spot, perfect for a lazy meal or a weeknight dinner. I happened to come in right after a crowd of 30 people all eating together and they were kind enough to bring my food out quickly before they had to fill their large order, great service. read more

Consistently tasty fish and chicken in Crown Heights. I came here on a whim one evening because of the high ratings and reviews. The proteins did no my disappoint. Since then, I've been back 2 times (in about a month). I even find myself craving the flaky lightly fried fish...yummmmmmy. I typically get the catfish and fried chicken wings here. I'm not big on the sides, but if you must, have the yams and the potato salad, and of COURSE the yummy cornbread. The peach cobbler is a tasty dessert option. The place is brightly lit and has two accessible gender neutral restrooms. There is cool Jazz-themed artwork that makes me smile for the acknowledgment, and the staff chirp, "welcome to Cornbreeeeeeeeead" when you come in the front door to let you know they see you and are glad you are here. I wanted this to be better, but it was pretty mid lukewarm food not fresh made to order. The sweet tea had a funky taste. I liked the mac & cheese. I've had better fried chicken. The windows and floor was dirty. It's not the best. It's not the worst, but I probably wouldn't go back. read more

I been dying to try this place and it didn't disappoint. I went with my friend celebrating my birthday. I was surprised how big the place it was and convenient. Ordered: 4pc Fried Chicken Meal with 1 side (~$20): mac & cheese side, comes with cornbread 2pc Fried Catfish Meal with 1 side (~$19): candied yams side, comes with cornbread Southern Twang (~$4) Peach Cobbler (~$6) Aya's take: For a place called Cornbread, you would think they have some bomb cornbread? YES, they do! Before I even get to the food, I can't even explain how incredible the cornbread was. It was moist, sweet, slightly crisp on the outside, and pillowy soft on the inside. If you get nothing else, just try the cornbread!! The Fried Chicken & Fried Catfish were both delicious. Nicely fried, not too greasy, and definitely seasoned. We were debating between the catfish and whiting, and without a second thought, the worker told us catfish and I'm so glad she did. It was some of the best I've had. The Mac & Cheese was a bit dry for my taste; the hot sauce helped with that. Similarly, the Candied Yams were a bit too sweet (as expected) but still really delicious. By the time we got around to the Peach Cobbler, I was so full and didn't need that extra sweetness because of the cornbread and candied yams but it was still a good try. The Southern Twang was refreshing but definitely on the sweeter side too. It did complement the fried meals pretty well. Highly recommend! read more

Ordering is very easy and fast. Got our food after 15-20 mins. The waitress was realy nice and had good service! And the food was soooo delicious, it went beyond our expectations! You know the food is good, when you order too much and you eat it all anyway. This place should have a total score of at least 4.5, i don't know what anyone is thinking giving it less than 5 stars. We had the fried catfish and fried chicken, with mac and cheese, black eyed peas, yams and a peach cobbler. The fried chicken and fried catfish are probably top 5 that I've ever had in my life, and I've eaten a lot of fried chicken. Everything we got was delicious, their namesake Cornbread was soft, buttery and great. The Mac and cheese is good, but not the best I've ever had. The Peach cobbler was just ok, too sweet for my taste, needed a pinch of salt. Overall though, this place was amazing, the entrees were definitely the star. read more

Was visiting NYC from Boston and stumbled across this restaurant on yelp. We found parking right outside which is unusual for NY, but we didn't complain. The restaurant is very trendy with a down home vibe if that makes sense. We ordered fried chicken, yams, and Mac and cheese all were really good. Con: the seating is terrible, but the food is amazing. If you want soul food, eat here. read more

I cannot speak highly enough of this establishment! As an African American with roots from North and South Carolina, their food tastes like home! Their food is AUTHENTIC soul food. The workers are respectful and the atmosphere is chill. 10/10 recommend!!!! read more

I went here multiple times. Each time I had a different experience. The first time the food was eh the second and third time was good. It's never been amazing just good (am I'm not a picky eater) the service was great all 3 times I've been (which is why I went back after the first time). It's a cool spot noise and environment wise it's calm noting over the top. I recommend if u around the area. read more

Don't waste your time giing to Corn bread I ordered my food and they had me waiting for 2 hours while everyone else at my table was eating then they got mad when I asked for a refund. I went here for a birthday celebration it was just two of us and we were stoked to have this "amazing" soul food that reviews say is just incredible. I went to the Brooklyn location at lunch midweek...The interior is really nice and it wasn't busy, everything was clean and all servers were very pleasant. The booths are nice and it has very large clean single bathrooms. Food to table was fast and you give name then food is delivered to table. The presentation was chef's kiss . (Sadly, the food didn't hold up to the hype) Pros: Clean, spacious, very nice interior, friendly workers, clean bathrooms, no attitudes in customer service, booths that accommodate anyone's waist line, fountain soda machine with really good drinks. *Fried Chicken... cartwheels on text...wow!!! This was superb. Delicious. *Cabbage really great. Cons: Lemonade tasted very artificial and with too much what tasted like stevia or sweet and low. (Blah, no thanks) Greens- Bland, great texture and cooking of it being just right. It tasted like it was only made with chicken stock and and no kick. Hot sauce and condiments would of really helped. Turkey Wings: Hmm, that wasn't desirable and that was a couple of bites..it was okay. Mac n cheese- This was okay and sadly totally bland. It needed more cheese, sea salt..or a pinch of salt as well as being cooked longer to allow all the cheese to melt. I enjoyed the cheese in it just it was half way decent. Yams- Oh Boi! Why...Why...why..smh.. was it SUPER bland. There was definitely cinnamon and more of an artificial sweetener taste which left an after taste and by this time of eating/sharing foods I was uber bummed. All in all, I felt like if I had gone to my kid's house to celebrate her having her own Independence either her or roommate and she decided to make the Thanksgiving meal, or super for family that I would be blown away. Lol...as it was an ambitious attempt... This place has a lot of potential you can definitely taste the love in recipes just as a cook myself, it was a really weak attempt at soul food. Hands down fried chicken phenomenal!! Soul food has layers of taste especially when it's fresh ingredients...sky's the limit, just greens don't need to be bland, Mac n cheese does need just the right amount of salt, this wasn't oily or too extra...just I felt like someone started, then got distracted and left food without seasoning..The corn bread, was ok. I'd rather not go to a restaurant and try to think of ingredients to boost it. That's lazy cooking. If the owners read reviews, I hope you know you have a really great spot...there's so much potential....just its meh..okay...had this been a white chef...I would of been impressed...as it was best they could do within the culture...but, that is not the case here. Yams can have honey, cloves, cinnamon, brown sugar...there are a lot of herbs and spices and or healthier eating that can be incorporated. Just don't enhance the fried chicken. The corn bread needed just a little bit more umph....that was all the dishes. Just a little bit more ...this was a C- in food... I'd return for the fried chicken if I was in neighborhood again but probably wouldn't return as the food had hardly no seasoning.. read more

Food: 4.5/5 | Service: 4/5 | Experience: 3/5 My party of 6 walked in on a Saturday evening, and we had to stand in line for over an hour to order at the counter. There is plenty of seating inside. It did seem like an unusual situation though, but once I reached the counter to order, they told me that they did not have any fried chicken nor fish, which was disappointing. I then waited for around 15 minutes to get my food. I ordered the baked chicken with baked mac and cheese and yams. The meal came with cornbread as well. The flavors of the chicken were really well rounded. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the meat was fall off the bone. However, for some of the bigger pieces, the middle parts were quite dry. The mac and cheese was as expected and so were the yams. The best part of the meal was the cornbread. They do live up to their name; the cornbread was moist and had a golden top, and it was sweetened like with honey. It was hands down the best cornbread I have ever had. Overall, great food and generous portions for a fair price, but my personal experience could have been better. read more

She tried to explain all drinks are made thd same which is not the same. She has to remember she does not just represent herself but the Peaches establishment. As a former bartender, I understand that drinks can vary, despite efforts at consistency. My concern was not the drink itself but the lengthy discussion. I felt pressured to justify a simple request during what was meant to be a special celebration Our bill exceeded $100, and as a longtime customer, I expected a more customer-focused response.
