Perfect for the debate coaches lounge and the snack shack. So kind. It's been a while since I've been in Corner Bakery Cafe, but nice to stop by for a lunch date. Took advantage of their one day DC Chicken Sandwich special. $3 for a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant and a bag of chips. What a bargain. Make sure to leave a generous tip. read more

Really wanted to like this place. First time here and live close. Staff very friendly and attentive but the food needs improvement. Pancakes were not 'fluffy' at all--in fact texture was gooey. Scrambled eggs were quite dry for me but I know some like them that way. However, I asked for my bacon extra crispy and they did not disappoint ...it was just right. Minor thing but restaurant already showing wear and tear. First booth went to sit in had large rip in the cushion. Love this place since I first tried it in Colorado 15 years ago. It's a great spot to grab a quick lunch or breakfast. They offer great variety, good pastries, and delicious sandwiches. The staff is quick and helpful, and the restaurant is clean with quick table turnaround and comfortable enough to work there for a little while. Would recommend. read more

Had boxed sandwich catering. I 'll start in reverse order. I don't usually like sugar cookies, but these were so soft and delicious. Bravo. The lays potato chips came packaged so not much to say there. But the two boxes I had both had the same lays chips. The sandwiches were my biggest grips. They had so little filling that the bread was just too overwhelming. And their bread, at least on the roast beef and blue sandwich as well as the chicken pesto sandwich, were both of the thick bread variety. The boxes didn't have any condiments either like mayo or something to make the sandwich less dry. But even then I actually don't know that I'd eat much more because the carb to non-carb ratio is just unsatisfying for someone my age. I'd rather save my carbs for another cookie. read more

Jamil was a great person who helped me place my first order at Corner Cafe & Bakery and was super chill, didn't rush me, helped me choose a side, and tempted me with the delicious cookies. I have driven by this location many times, but hadn't stopped in until now. I walked in to place the order with Jamil and was out of there in about 7 minutes. The food was not good, lacking flavor and portions are very small. It was a scrambled egg dish with spinach and tomato which sounds good but it didn't have salt pepper or anything on it. It was very watered down and I was very disappointed with my breakfast. I ended up giving my son my plate and left unsatisfied. The service was mediocre, the lady at the register tried to charge me for two coffees when I only ordered one, and I had to point that out before paying. The ambiance was good, clean tables and comfy space but overall I would not return. 3/10. read more

NEXT TIME a customer tells you they are feeling physically sick from the food you served perhaps you should listen. Clean up your restaurant. Repair all of the holes in the booth cushions. I was given a cold roll, and coffee in a to go paper cup, as opposed to a ceramic mug as I was eating the roll in store. This particular location I will not come back. I've never been a fan of Corner Bakery Cafe, but it's nice having one this close to the house in case we want something along these lines, and it's a nice little pit stop - although I don't find their goods to be much better than Panera, and they remind me of Panera. Probably best Iced cafe Americano and pound cake at any casual morning bakery cafe so far. This place was very packed when we visited but the ladies behind the registers were calm and understanding with all the customers. When I asked if they made iced coffee, because I did not see it on the menu, I was told of course they could make me one. This place was between breakfast and lunch and was really cranking out the food. They take your order and then you have a seat unless your just getting coffee. We got our coffee and then went to the coffee bar to fix our coffee. Then off to the table to wait for the pound cake. A few seconds after sitting down, a server came out with our pound cake. A bite late and the yummy tastiness begins. We watched as servers brought out soups and salads and they also looked so good. Playing I-spy with other peoples food just makes you want to go back thru the line but we had things to do. This is definitely a return to spot in Houston. read more

DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY SERVICE FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT! I learned yesterday that a young friend had been released from the ICU, was home, and in need of soup and fresh fruit. Because I am isolating with Covid and unable to personally deliver food to her, I placed an order of just under $100 from this location of the Corner Bakery. When ordering, I provided her exact address, along with instructions to give the order to the doorman in her building and to have her apartment called. I soon received an email that Uber Eats had completed the delivery. All good so far. Except that I learned from my friend this morning that the food was never delivered! When I contacted the Corner Bakery and asked that my credit card be credited, their manager advised me to contact Uber. I pointed out that 1.) they, not I, had contracted with Uber for delivery, thus they were responsible, and 2.) they, not Uber, had received payment from me for products I had not received, thus they are responsible for reimbursing me. Their position was the transaction happen yesterday, and there was nothing they could do about it. If I had a complaint, I could contact Uber. The intractability of their position, along with their lack of any sense of responsibility, has led me to write the first negative review in my life. I strongly suggest that anyone desiring ANY level of customer service look to order or dine elsewhere. I'm giving this review one star just to have it posted; I would prefer none. read more

Stopped in to grab lunch and work for a few minutes. Grabbed a very average salad- Chopped Salad. Super disappointed. Iceberg lettuce, frozen (although thawed) chicken strips and what tasted like store bought dressing. The only good part was the chopped avocado and tomato. TLDR: Large portion for a cheap price, chicken orzo is heavenly, all are seasoned near perfectly. Before I begin let me first establish that this was a Doordash order that was so good that I had to leave a second review. Let me tell you, a five star review is an absolute rarity for me. I got the pick two Chicken Rosa Pasta and Chicken Orzo soup with a Caesar salad on the side. For $14 the portion was large and I was pleasantly surprised with the way the food was packaged and presented. The Chicken Rosa was great - tomato basil, what's not to like? The sauce clings perfectly to the noodles which are cooked nicely. I think a touch more black pepper would really bring the sauce over the edge. Chicken is cooked well; however, I wish there was a slight char. The chicken to sauce to pasta ratio is enough to ensure all flavors in one bite. Caesar salad is just like every other Caesar salad but the croutons have a touch of red pepper on them to add a bit of heat. Let me tell you, this is now my new favorite way to have a salad. The chicken orzo pasta was amazing. Seasoned very rustically and reminiscent of what gumbo is supposed to taste like. Vegetables still have a bit of crunch to them and are not soggy. Chicken and orzo are soft but somehow still tender. Warm, hearty, and enough to draw tears of bliss. Would highly recommend this as it was my hands down favorite. 1st Time here, no drive thru so parking can be challenging since it's a busy 2 story shopping center. They offer a small covered front patio if you choose to be serenaded by Highway 59 and Kirby traffic. Inside, spacious with lots of booths and tables. I ordered the Uptown Turkey which is basically a turkey bacon avocado sandwich with lettuce and tomato. My sandwich only had one sliver of an avocado slice on it YET came with 5 tomato slices......very disappointing. Plus, that harvest bread was HARD AS A ROCK! I normally complain how "to go sandwiches" can tend to become soggy on their journey home but there was no way this bread was ever going to get soggy! They either toasted the Heck out of it or it is just naturally brick-like bread. I decided to "upgrade" my chips to the mixed greens for 99 cents. Just a simple small side salad with only croutons and yup, you guessed it, 5 more slices of tomatoes ; Seems to be the only thing they are generous with. The salad comes standard with their house salad dressing which to me, kinda had a kick to it.....maybe like a crushed red pepper Italian? Anyhoo, nice display of baked goods by the counter, I snagged a few but saving them to take to work later so can't comment on flavor yet. Overall, meh. My sandwich definitely wasn't worth the price. And next time, please be more generous with the avocado and don't be so Tomato Happy. If it wasn't for Corner Bakery my already stressful week, would have been twenty times worse. My husband is having an eye procedure and the office says no one can stay in the lobby. I'm too far from work, too far from home, so I go with my laptop to this Corner Bakery to eat breakfast and attempt to work virtually, as I wait for the doctor's office to call me to come back. I stayed out of everyone's way, but the servers bringing the breakfast/lunch was very friendly to everyone. Not a lot of people were there, but areas were marked off to make it easy to know where to sit. In the morning it seems like mostly business brunches, so the crowd is quiet and focused. Food wise, I ordered the breakfast wrap and liked it as it had a nice balance of scrambled eggs and chicken with a tasty spice sauce on the side. I felt it was a bit on the small side, but it ended up being filling. Out of all the coffees available, I believe I chose the Arabic sweetened one. After about two hours there, I picked up the lunch for my husband and myself I ordered online and went to pick up my husband from the doctor's office. I saved my sandwich for the next day, but it was the chicken pomodori. Very tasty, but I think my husband's sandwich the panini club, had a slight edge over it for such a simple sandwich. If I'm ever in a bind like that again due to my husband's doctor, I know exactly where to wait, eat, and know I'll be treated well. read more

Despite Corner Bakery Cafe's boast of corporate integrity, this seller of mediocre food has none. A Houston location agreed two years ago to host our group's lunch several times a year. Without a courtesy notice, the store broke the agreement. Using small words and short sentences with the store mgr./asst. mgr., I tried to explain that the store broke the agreement. He said prices "are going up." Again relying on small words, I tried to explain that an item once costing $9 and now costing $12 would offset any cost/labor increases. He did not understand. My words must have been too long. I wrote the company's marketing director, and she never replied. Prices are modest, but you get what you paid for. Loved the neat cafe and the friendly staff. If you visit them in the happy hour they add in a free desert for an order over 10 bucks! I mean who would order less than that anyways! We ordered the Asian wonton salad(without the chicken). All salads are made fresh in-house and so they didn't have any problem customizing it, and because we were vegetarians they gave an extra side of edamame and black beans. We also tried the California grille sandwich. It was perfectly grilled with some artichoke hearts, pesto, spinach and some melting warm provolone cheese.It comes with a bag of Corner Bakery chips. I honestly think it's time for Corner Bakery to close its doors. All of the locations I used to frequent have become increasingly worse over the past couple of years. I think my days of dining with them are over based on my last visit. The menu items I used to love are mostly gone now. So I had to order something unfamiliar. I went with a chicken pesto sandwich. The chicken tasted like microwaved dinner chicken and the pesto was just Mayo with pesto in it sparingly. It was mostly bread so I ended up just putting the little bit of chicken on one half of the sandwich and trying to eat it that. On top of that the cafe was dirty and messy. I did eventually see one person cleaning tables but only after it looked liked things had been sitting for hours. It's so dark at this location it feels like you're kind of in a den. It is definitely a casual "morning coffee" kind of spot. There are a lot of businesses in the strip mall so sometimes parking is nonexistent. But if you time it right, you'll be fine. There is a nice outside patio, but the niceness is volatile subject to oppressive heat, noise from the highway, lousy pop music blaring over the speakers, or people essentially shouting at each other in the parking lot to be heard over the highway traffic. Inside is much quieter. Coffee is solid if you are avoiding the Starbucks for a day or two. However they don't have a drive thru so it involved parking and getting out of the car - this is my modern version of "walking five miles in the snow barefoot, uphill" etc. read more

I use to come here all the time but each time I come I am reminded why I don't. The service is horrible. I waited to be helped for about 6 mins. Despite people behind the counter being free as they were talking and answering phone. I walked up to the counter to be asked if I was picking up and if I wasn't to wait back in line. I wait another 4 mins and wasn't greeted with a hi, but yet greeted with "we only accept cash". The place was not busy as it was before 11am. I can't imagine if it was, how it would be.
