I had the club and it was delicious. My husband was having knee surgery nearby so I walked here. It was so fresh and huge!

Now my sister has been eyeing this place for a long time which is an upscale version of the each nation's decor and fabulous food. Now, we started with a tasting of my mocktails and my sister was given her alcohol drink. Please, please, please get the guava mocktail. The Cape Town Cooler, i believe. It tasted like tropical goodness! Oh so delicious! So.......this is one of my new favorite restaurants, hands down! I thought it was great that they brought my sister and friend a shot of whatever is in what you are drinking. Very special and delightful!! Our waitress Tenee was another reason I would come back. She can really convince you to order something you may not like Iike and you end up loving the dish like crazy. So- for appetizers we got delicious plantain chips with a greens dip , delicious beef suya, and stal and cheese beef patties with steak inside. ALL Phenomenal! For dinner, my sister's had the Golden Bowl with delicious chicken and add shrimp along with some curried beans and jumbalaya. Sweet plantain come with your bowls. My friend got the Black Star bowl which was a wonderful cream sauce with rice and big juicy shrimp. The cream sauce was very delicious!I will get that one next. I got the Buka which was rice and pease, the peas are black eyed pease. Yum! They served it with red stew and boneless beef ribs. When I got my meal they only gave me two pieces of meat and the general manager, the one with the beard, quickly brought my plate in the kitchen and it came back out with plenty of meat. Everything was so good and delicious. The atmosphere was fantastic. I would love to come back soon.

You can see the culture in it. There's plenty of seating. It looks like it can accommodate for relatively large groups, or if you just wanted to have a date night, or catch up with a friend. If you plan on coming during a busy time, I recommend making a reservation beforehand. I went here with my brother for lunch on a weekday, and it was both of our first times here. I liked that if it's your first time, they give you some samples, so you can get a better idea of what to get off of the menu. Our server was very helpful with explaining each dish to us in detail and also giving us some good recommendations. We ordered: -golden -buka -African goddess salad To be honest, this was more than enough food for 2 people. We had to bring some food home to-go because we were stuffed. Our favorite item was the golden. We loved the flavor in each bite. The salad was also absolutely delicious too. The portion for the salad is HUGE, so be prepared to not finish it or share it with a lot of people. There were so many other menus items that were recommended that we wanted to try, but we did not have enough stomach room to order or eat more. I loved this place so much that after this visit, I did a DoorDash takeout order from them for my husband and I on a separate day. We will definitely be coming back to try other items on the menu!

The team behind the popular restaurant Nobie's opened up this tiki inspired restaurant. Tiki bars happen to be one of my favorite varieties of bars so I was more than excited to finally check it off my list. I had recently seen them on the Food Network as well. They share a lot with another popular dining spot so parking can be a little difficult in their lot. You can find street parking or park across the street in an overflow lot. Customer service was great from start to finish. We had just ate next door and our intentions were to come in here just for cocktails, but I couldn't leave without trying some of the popular items. I wanted the most tropical drink I could find on the menu so I started off with the Blue Hawaiian. I saw fire on the description so my extra self needed to have it. I'm a big rum guy so this drink was right up my alley and very boozy with two types of rum. It was very coconut forward with pineapple being the secondary flavor. One was enough for me to feel just right. Since we had just ate, we decided to share the World Famous Cheeseburger. This was a great burger. I don't know if they were going for the smash effect, but it had smash burger characteristics. It had all my favorite things that are musts on a burger like American cheese and red onions. It also had a very nice chili aioli that added great flavor to the burger. I came on another stop for a drink visit shortly after and tried the pork dumplings and popcorn chicken. These were also very good. If I lived in the area, this place would easily be a place I would frequent often. I will most definitely be back!

They have an outdoor eating area, a bar area, and seating in the very back. It's very spacious, comfortable, and intimate. The theme of the restaurant is seen all over from the moment you enter, to the music, the menu and the restroom. They paid close attention to detail with decorating. We had an amazing server, delicious drinks (a must try), and ok food. We ordered four drinks the painkilla, vamos à la playa, captains grog, and the Hemingway daiquiri. All were great drinks and we loved how they give you flavor characteristics of the drinks on the menu. The appetizers that we ordered were the sweet and sour cauliflower and the pork dumplings, which is why I gave this place four stars. The presentation of both appetizers were excellent. However, the pork dumplings were disappointing. They came with only six dumplings for $17, were served cold, and are very bland. In my opinion, they weren't worth the price. On the other hand, the sweet and sour cauliflower was our favorite and is definitely a must-try.

Located inside the Houston Museum of Fine Arts (MFAH), the space feels artistic, chic, and classy - every detail felt intentional, from the decor to the lighting, creating a genuinely elegant atmosphere without feeling stuffy. We started with the complimentary bread service, which set the tone nicely. For the HRW summer dinner menu, portions were a touch smaller than what I'd expect from their regular dinner offerings, but everything was so rich and satisfying that we left completely full. Standouts included the Atlantic salmon, the zucchini veloute, and the chocolate cremeux for dessert - each beautifully executed and packed with flavor. Service matched the quality of the food. For parking, they validate tickets from the museum garage, which is a convenient and budget-friendly option--though paid valet is also available if you prefer that route. Highly recommend Le Jardinier for a special date night or any occasion worth celebrating with excellent French cuisine.

Extremely disappointing experience with the reservation process…read more We made a reservation through Resy on July 25, 2026, for August 15 2026, more than three weeks before my planned arrival in Houston. I will be visiting Houston for only two days and specifically planned this trip around experiencing Houston Restaurant Weeks. Today, we received an email informing me that I would have needed a separate reservation specifically for the Restaurant Week menu. Unfortunately, by the time I found this out, those reservations were already sold out. We also reached out directly to the restaurant and spoke with Catherine Park from the Hostess Team. We were told there was nothing she could do, and I requested that she escalate this issue to management, as this situation is extremely frustrating and disappointing. The biggest issue is that this requirement was not clearly communicated on the Resy reservation page when I made my reservation. There was no clear indication that a separate Restaurant Week reservation was required, nor was there an option presented during the booking process. I have participated in Restaurant Week events in many cities across the United States, and I have never encountered a system where guests must make a completely separate reservation just to access the Restaurant Week menu. Typically, guests make a reservation and can decide between available menus when they arrive. Since Restaurant Week was the reason I chose this restaurant, this has been extremely disappointing. I will now be looking for a different restaurant for my Houston visit.

The atmosphere was laid back and the ambiance was very conducive for a great date spot. The service was impeccable. Never had to wait on anything and the food came out in a timely manner. The food was just like the reviewer had said: the pancakes were delicious and had a lemony taste to them, bacon was just like I like it, crisp but firm with a smoky flavor, roasted potatoes were firm and roasted to perfection and the added sea salt gave them that just right taste that lingers with you, but the star of the show was the Scallion biscuits. They were done to perfection from the texture to the taste and when you added your jam and butter to them, everything went to another dimension. Definitely will be one of my new brunch spots.

Normally, I have to steer completely clear of bread due to gluten, but they use a high-quality, special flour here that my system handled with absolutely no issues or reactions. It truly makes you feel special dining here. A massive shout-out to my waitress, Sarah! She gave off the most pleasant, soft, kind, and compassionate vibes from the moment she stepped up to the table. She made an amazing experience even better. I will definitely be back!

It was warm and humid inside (Texas summer is mostly to blame). That said, the handful of whites that I sampled were not very chilled. Kinda defeated the purpose of getting a refreshing chenin blanc or rose. And a lot of the tasting notes were not available above the bottles. By the time my friend made her way through the tastings, she had already spent $20+. They also charge a 20% auto-grat. Not a fan of that percentage for self-serve and counter service (you have to order food at the register). We ended up going to Mimo down the street to sit at the bar, taste complimentary samples, and then order a full glass. I'll still go back to Roots but have kinda lowered my expectations of the wine selection and value. Some of the novelty has worn off. Good news is that their food is still solid: loved the mushroom toast and ricotta toast last I tried it.
