Normally try to avoid Corner Bakery but this one just opened across from work. Since the area I work in is severely lacking in food choices, Corner Bakery it was today. Decor is exactly the same as other locations. This location has a HIGH ceiling dominated by some mothership of airducts. Menu is nothing to write home about. Many items to choose from but essentially, everything is made exactly the same as any other location. One of the benefits of chains. You know exactly what you are getting no matter which location you go to. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich. Served cold with mediocre flavor...throw in a pickle, small soda, and chips...voila 9 dollars. Everyone that worked there had drank plenty of the grand opening punch and was SUPER friendly. But, it could have been the franchise suits hovering around making sure everything was picture perfect. Hey, as long as the customer is made happy...do what it takes, right? Power panini is great! I've had the Chicken Apple Sausage Power Panini Thin which is really filling and great. It has the perfect amount of sausage and cheese to make this panini yummy. The Rugalach are my favorite here. I enjoy each of the flavors they offer but the Cinnamon Pecan one is my all time favorite with some coffee. They have a variety of sandwiches too in which I enjoy. One of my go-to places for a quick, comforting and relatively healthy meal (provided you stay away from those dangerous desserts!). Food is always dependable, at least as far as soups/salads/paninis go, and service is consistent. They often feature new additions to the menu but my standby fave is the soup and half sandwich combo, usually the veggie California Grille panini and Roasted Tomato Basil soup. I'm not one to usually pass on having meat in a meal but the Cali Grille tastes great and is hearty enough to pass for one with meat. If in doubt, try the Chicken Pomodori panini. They don't offer the Three Lentil soup anymore, which was a nice, thick soup with lots of beans. Today I went for the combo with the Chopped Chicken Salad, another fave that seemed a little light on chicken this time, and tried their new Butternut Squash soup, which was perfect for this cool December day. I always tell the same joke after I bring in lunch from Corner Bakery. "Thanks for lunch, deno. You're welcome. I slaved all morning over it." No one ever laughs. It's nice when we are working in and I need to pick up lunch for about 10 folks. Their menu has a nice variety of sandwiches, salads, pastas, soups and cookies so that everyone can get something they like. I can call in our super complicated order and it's usually right--except the extra chips. They forgot that about half the time. I like the separate line for call-ahead orders. It's easy and tasty. Makes me look like a freaking genius at the office. That being said, the food is not amazing. The salads are pretty good. No one complains. But the food is just average. Like Marjorie A. in June, I had a similar experience just the other day. That is...service issues abound. I arrived around 9:30am to get some breakfast to go on my way to the office. The only others at the counter was a woman and a man. They had already been ordering as I approached. First, I will say that this couple was apparently making one hell of a difficult situation out of ordering. Seemed that they had all sorts of questions, and then special orders. I was waiting a good 5 minutes when it seemed they were finally paying... or so I thought. Turns out they had started to pay then realized they wanted to 'split' off just a single side of bacon. (I got the impression they were buying for a couple people.) Seriously? Just pay and get the money later. Well, that was apparently a mountainous task for the lone cashier. After about 7 minutes, of still not ordering (and being 'next' the whole time), I approach the cashier and simply asked if someone else could take orders (a line had formed by now). "No." She didn't look at me. She didn't offer to get extra help. Didn't call the manager over lend assistance during this overly-long period. Nor did she ask the couple if they could hold a moment so she could take an order. Nada. So I slipped back to my spot in line (again, 'next'). A couple minutes later, I see another employee walk up to the second register and ring up a guy who was apparently getting help way down by the coffee - I assume it was an add-on or something. But, now I'm getting perturbed. It's been a good 10 minutes, and I still wait. The second girl finishes up, disappears for a few seconds, then returns JUST as the man and woman ahead of me finish their insane transaction; the girl says, "I can get you over here." Though I had been trying to 'take the high road' and smile to make it better, I let a snarky, "Oh, so NOW you can take our orders?". Yeah, I know - my bad. BUT. As I walk over, I say bluntly, I would like to talk to a manager eventually. She says, "Okay. He's over there," as she points to the far side of the restaurant. Then she adds, "But he's in a meeting right now." Meanwhile the ORIGINAL cashier walks over and gives attitude: "We only have the two of us here," and whatnot. I was a bit shocked. I worked for 4 years between deli and fast food as a teenager and I gave considerably better customer service. No matter what, you don't get all nasty right back. Particularly when you could have asked for help at the register. So, my cashier decides, instead of taking my order to get it going, to go walk over to get the manager (who I was going to talk to after I was rung up). Again, like Marjorie, I got a WHOLLY different response from the manager. He was so nice, and did exactly what a provider of customer service should do. I explained that I was just simply surprised at the attitude I received. He comped my meal, which I was happy to pay for (that wasn't my issue). My take: there were sooooo SO many opportunities for great customer service. The two cashiers need some serious training in how to suck it up and respond with a smile. I wasn't nasty, just frustrated that they were rather ignorant of how to work more efficiently, especially when asked nicely (as I originally did). My panini wasn't bad. I don't think those breakfast sandwiches hold up well for take out, as it was really soggy and floppy by the time I even got to my car. In fact, it looked like they just sort of mashed it into the foil. (Of course, I was worried about what the kitchen may have done to it, but the manager stuck around and seemed to watch over things.) read more

But, they are who we thought they were! The Las Colinas location is what I thought it was: 1. A solid place to have business meetings over a coffee or a light meal. It's a less solid choice to meet an acquaintance at and it would never be my choice to go to for a meal on my own. 2. A place to get solid, not spectacular, soups, salads, sandwiches, baked goods and coffees. 3. Being right off the highway, it's a place that people not familiar with Las Colinas can find somewhat easily. Looking around the room, you will see 1/2 a dozen business meetings going on pretty much any time between 7:30am to 3:30pm. During the meal hours, you will also see the Yummy Mummy groups and 20-something young ladies in power suits enjoying their iced caffeine and yogurt parfaits on the patio. Don't take this 3 star for any less than what it is: this Corner Bakery serves a role and it does it well, which is why I continue to meet business acquaintances there for out-of-the-office meetings. This Corner Bakery location is just like the others I have visited. He This isn't a good or bad thing in my opinion. The flavors and the service are pretty consistent. This trip I just had soup and a drink. It has been a while since I've had baked potato soup from any restaurant but it was good the right amount of cheese and scallions, it could have been a little hotter for me personally but I'm sure it was within the normal range. A pleasant surprise was the hibiscus lemonade, that a new one for me. All in all I will continue to be a fan Corner Bakery they have a variety of menu options, some tasty sweet treats and free WiFi. Went on a Sunday morning with kids for breakfast. Had to repeat my order several times at the register the cashier was just not interested. Tables were dirty, waited for 1 breakfast bowl, a grill cheese with tomato soup and a order of cc pancakes for over 40 mins with 3 kids. The order came out wrong twice, by the second time I had enough so I decided to get a refund. The cashier did not have any cordial or customer service etiquette. She did not apologize or offer any solutions. I paid for the coffee and kids juices that we consumed and left. Never going back and I do not recommend. read more

I have to say the 5 star rating is all about redemption. Long story short, my coworker and I stay at a nearby hotel. Due to lack of time, she ran out to pick us up lunch before heading to the airport and Corner Cafe was the winner. When she got back to our room, she realized they forgot the soup to her soup & sandwich combo. She called the cafe and they sent a driver over with a giant serving of soup and mini bundt cake. We felt guilty for not giving the guy a tip, so I promised her I would write a great yelp review. The lentil soup that I got was great and she loved her long awaited chowder. p.s. What a great place for a quick breakfast! I was recently in Irving for an event at the nearby convention center and Corner Bakery Cafe was my go-to for breakfast both days I was there. Corner Bakery serves up a good selection of baked goods, breakfast items, sandwiches, hot drinks, and salads. Their prices are a little higher than I'd like (though not very expensive), but the food was of good quality and in large portions. I really liked the bagel and egg sandwich with tomato and avocado--the brekk I need to be a champion! I tried the steel cut oatmeal with currants on the second day and it was pretty good too. Coffee was ok. Not a coffee-shop coffee, but not bad either. What I was really impressed with was the staff. They were super friendly and attentive to customers during both visits there. From the cashier to the ladies that work the floor to check on customers, I ran into great attitudes and cheerful helpfulness. Parking is a cinch, as they have a big lot. I visit Corner Bakery for lunch a decent amount, as I enjoy their Trio option for the flavor, variety and calorie-count. Regardless of the location, the service is always pretty fast, and no matter how busy they are, they always get my order right, which should be expected, but unfortunately isn't always the case with restaurant chains. I appreciate that they menu more interesting options than the other cafe chains, like their tomato, mozzarella and arugula salad. If you're looking for a yummy lunch with a plethora of options, CBC is a safe and dependable choice. read more

Good food in a comfortable atmosphere. Stopped by for a quick breakfast and enjoyed the various choices available. From the common breakfast sandwich (bagel, croissant, etc) that I so enjoy to steal cut oatmeal there's something that should catch the eye of just about everyone. I decided on one of the breakfast panini's and the Pumpkin Latte. Now I'm not normally a Latte drinker, in fact I think that may have been the second one I've had all year but it being the holiday season I thought I'd give it a try. The panini was great! it was filled with fresh tomato and avocado, and was seasoned just right. Never needed even a pinch of salt to bring out the flavors. The Latte was good or more like Meh to me but my wife who's a Latte regular thought it and her's were wonderful...so there you go all you latte drinkers, order up you won't be disappointed. Came here for a Sunday brunch. They were pretty busy, but still had a couple tables open. It took no more than 5-10 minutes for us to get 4 people's orders taken, drinks filled, and get seated. The food runner brought everything out after about 10 more minutes. Everyone's order was prepared exactly how it was supposed to be. Most dishes were relatively standard; bacon & eggs, pancakes, hash browns, etc. I got the bacon and cheddar panini. Definitely tasty, but I wish I realized it didn't come with any sides. Absolutely the rudest store manger I've ever met, after complaining about a hair in my wife's soup, he didn't even apologize. Said he could replace the order but obviously at that point we did not want to eat anything from there. Refused to do a refund for that in particular item saying that he could only refund the whole order which if that is true you all need to upgrade your system because even McDonald's can refund a single item. Then he started acting like he was better than us because he worked there and not at McDonald's, then he went as far as saying he didn't care if he lost our business and to tell as many people as want because we wouldn't effect them because you're a multi million dollar business. Wow! I have been in the food industry for 15 years, absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. On top of that he claims to be the store manager so he is the example!!! After all of that he refunded the whole order and I was going to give him the difference but after that rude, profoundly horrible customer service I just took the money. This was my first time to visit a Corner bakery. This location is conveniently located so I decided to give them a try in search of a healthier lunch alternative. I decided on the chopped salad without blue cheese (because... yuck lol). I ordered to go during peak lunch time about 12:30p, the place was packed, the parking lot was full.. you get the picture. Ordered online to be quick, but when I got there they were out of almost everything I ordered. When I ask for my order they tell me that they are out of the kind of bread my roommate wanted. No big deal, it happens. So I call my roommate (out in the car) for what other kind of bread she wants. She chooses and we hang up. Turned out they didn't have that either so I just chose something. 5 minutes later they say they also don't have the cookie that my roommate ordered. So we got to pick from one of the basic ones (yay). To top it off, we get home and the side that I had ordered and paid extra for, I didn't get. Through this whole thing I'm wondering: 1) Why, being that the restaurant is not busy, no one could have picked up the phone and called to let us know that they were out of certain things, even though your phone number is required when you order online. 2) Why the basic task of checking an order isn't a thing anymore, apparently. 3) Even though the manager was right there the whole time, he couldn't have stepped in and at least offered an apology. I feel that this location should do a better job at being proactive with online orders, more diligent about what they send out the door (and don't send) and owning up to short comings when they happen, because they always will. read more

I come in here two to three times a week while in between meetings. It's normally clean and no issues. However today I ordered potato soup with no chives/ green onions. Yet it came with them so I sent it back. The employee took it to the manager who had a dramatic response. He then poured the top of the soup off and sent the soup back with soup all down the side and on the plate. This was at 1:45 pm, it wasn't busy and I requested that when I placed the order.
