    Pastries & bagels.
    Renée M.

Stopped by to get a bakery treat between errands. There were about 3-4 people ahead of me and only one cashier. I saw lots of pastries, cookies, bread, bagels, packaged cookies and a large coffee cake while waiting. It's been awhile since I've been at a Corner Bakery Cafe and they seem to have more pasta items now. There's a 2 for $6.99 "any pasta/salad/sandwich/soup" entree deal until 6/30/26 so maybe that's drawing people in. I ended up choosing a Pecan Bar which the cashier had to grab a tray of the Maple Pecan Bars that I think were frozen because I big into it and it was hard. She was able to cut off a piece as I didn't see it in the display case for the desserts/pastries. Service took longer compared to the other Stone Oak location. The bar was also sweet with a hard shortbread crust and it was similar to a Pecan Pie filling but more dense. I would probably try one of their combos next time. Lots of seating inside and out. Just be careful crossing the street as there's a hilly incline into the entrance to the mall.

Their hot coffee is so good!! It's drip coffee and serve yourself so you can choose from their Mexican/Colombian blend or hazelnut and both are great. Their menu has a nice variety of sandwiches and breakfast/lunch plates as well as a number of bakery items depending on the day. I notice the earlier you go, and during the week, the better odds of having more variety. They have a huge patio and the staff will still come outside to check on you and clean tables.

    Building falling apart

Came thru the door and no one treated us to ask if we were ready to order but the person was standing at the register looking confused finding a clean table was a hard task since all the tables had food crumbs on them we had to clean it off the building is in poor condition water leaks we sat down and kept feeling droplets coming from the ceiling front door dirty and falling apart the carpets are nasty filthy with who knows what but you can see its cracked on in thick layers food was decent but we have been at corner bakeries in other cities and so far this is the worse at one food is for sure better at the other locations we are from El Paso Texas and the facilities in our city are well maintained and the food is up to par won't be coming back to this location. Lastly while we were sitting eating our food the manager was talking to the staff having fun while a customer waited in line several minutes to be taken care off while no one was waiting in line. How about you clean up, take care of your customers and talk about things on your own time terrible customer service.

    Pancakes with bacon

Pancakes- I really love their pancakes. The texture, the chew- just delicious! Everything has shrunk in size; you still get 4, but I remember them being more plate sized. Good part I guess is that I was able to finish them with the bacon. My husband got the Anaheim scrambler and his portion was small as well. Good but small. I guess we all need to eat a little less! My only complaint about Corner Bakeries is that their self serve coffee is always either out or just lukewarm. Order at the counter and they will deliver to your table so it's quick and easy. Pro tip- it's always freezing in there so bring a sweater. Outdoor seating is also available if you have Fido with you.

One day, I ate a late breakfast from Corner Bakery Cafe in San Antonio, TX. That same evening, I ate a late dinner from Corner Bakery Cafe in San Antonio, TX. I had breakfast and dinner from the same Corner Bakery Cafe in San Antonio, TX on the same day. True or false? So just from the problem statement, you can't really tell for sure because there are actually two Corner Bakery Cafes in the Alamo City: One off the 1604 loop just west of the 281, and this one at Alamo Quarry Market just east of the 281. I was planning a short little getaway just outside San Antonio, and I decided to eat breakfast at the Stone Oak Corner Bakery Cafe. Fast forward to ~7 PM, and I decided to eat dinner, but at the Alamo Quarry Market location instead. So in case you haven't noticed, the answer to the T/F question above is FALSE. I had lost track of time, and by the time I realized it was 7 PM, I realized that Corner Bakery Cafe was going to close soon! But what time does it close? 7:30 PM? 8 PM? I saw 7:30 PM somewhere, but somewhere else, I saw 8 PM. In situations like this, I have to assume the earlier time, so I acted as if the cafe would close at 7:30 PM. I frantically had to get ready to head over to Alamo Quarry Market, and as luck would have it, I arrived at the front door at 7:29 PM. Luckily, the front door was unlocked, but I was legitimately expecting an employee to say, "Sorry, we just closed!" However, the first employee I saw greeted me while cleaning the floors. I was still trying to decipher if I was late or not, and then hesitated while trying to discern the interior layout of the cafe. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by a wall, and you have to turn left towards the order counter. I had a 99 cent beverage reward on my account, and I wanted to redeem it, but also get a Choose Two, where you can get smaller-sized entrees for the price of one. At my local cafe in California, the price of a Choose Two is $11.99, but here in San Antonio, it's only $10.99. On top of the two from the Choose Two, you also get to pick a side. When you order two pasta dishes, you get the most bang for your buck that way because one smaller-sized pasta would be almost $10, so if you order your entire Choose Two a la carte, you would probably be looking at ~$25. Thanks to the Choose Two, and lower taxes in the state that is spelled the same way, but with the vowels switched, you would only spend about half that. For the 99 cent beverage, I chose the Large Cranberry Spice Arnold Palmer. For the Choose Two, I went with the Chicken Rosa Pasta, Shrimp Scampi Linguine, and the Mixed Greens Salad. However, the cashier had some issues trying to ring up my order that she had to call a couple of co-workers to figure out what needed to be done. It took a while, but she was able to make it work for me. During that ordeal, she asked if I wanted for here or to go. I was initially planning on ordering to go because I thought the cafe was going to close real soon. However, when she confirmed to me that the cafe would close at 8 PM, I decided to dine in as long as it wouldn't take 20 minutes to prepare my order, and I wouldn't be kicked out right at 8 PM sharp. The cashier handed me a numbered flag, which I then took to a booth seat on the opposite side of the cafe. It took just over 5 minutes before the cashier handed me my order. Could have been closer to 5, but I noticed her conversing with a co-worker with my order in her hands. Why not just drop off my order first before chit-chatting with the others? Anyways, that was really the only blemish I witnessed out of her service that evening. The Mixed Greens Salad tasted pretty much the same as at my usual location in SoCal, but I did notice the dressing cup was angled askew, almost as if it was starting to spill out. Presentation could have been better there. However, the pastas were pretty good! Chicken Rosa Pasta is my favorite pasta at Corner Bakery because of how bold the taste is, and this was no exception here in the Alamo City. Not only that, but the Shrimp Scampi Linguine, a luckluster pasta back home in SoCal, was certainly not as lackluster at this location! While the pasta was a little clumpy, they did add a lemon wedge for me to add additional flavor to the pasta dish. I also enhanced the taste profile with a little salt & pepper. Both of the pastas were served in bowls while the salad was on a rectangular plate. One of the bowls was served on the plate next to the salad. Overall, it was a good solid dinner, and I'm glad I got to spend it here. Though I also gave 4 stars to the Stone Oak Corner Bakery, I enjoyed my experience at this location more, but not that much more to earn the fifth star.

Love eating breakfast here! They have a lot of options and a bunch on yummy pastries to choose from. Coffee is great as well. It's always really clean every time we visit. The staff is helpful when it comes to answering questions about the menu.

    Mac N Cheese
    Aida P.

The name and location was enough to spark my curiosity. The Corner Bakery Café is literally at the corner. We are still new to the area and still on the hunt for the perfect mac n cheese for my girls. One of the challenging parts is asking what it is in the mac n cheese. My girls have Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and let's just say they need lots of information. At home the cook mac n cheese from scratch; yes they even make their own roux. The employees were so nice and understanding about the questions and even brought out the ingredients book for one of them to read. The customer service and understanding was a gem! Now, back to the Mac N Cheese, they said it was better than the other place, which is a win in my book! This is definitely a place we will come back to in the near future. To the staff from the cashier, to the supervisor, to the waitresses; thank you for your patience and understanding.

It's definitely the deli bahn mi that keeps me coming back regularly as well as the staff--they really are artists of their craft. If you know exactly what you want they'll give you that and if you're undecided or new, they have great recommendations that really do provide a well balanced bite. Every time for me, even when I'm not grabbing a deli bahn mi or ordering for others, has been a perfect sandwich. They have online ordering, phone in ordering, and you can also order there in person. The line gets long during the rush so if you're limited on time, I advise ordering ahead. Thundercloud from what I understand is originally an Austin chain. They serve soup peddler soups (also an Austin staple) and even offer cookies and smoothies which I also enjoy. About a week ago I got my girlfriend a cookie from Paris baguette and she later commented that she STILL preferred thunder clouds chocolate chip cookie over the bakeries (says a lot for a sandwich shop cookie to trump a bakery tbh). You can choose from white or wheat bread & I really enjoy how they offer two sizes of a sandwich along with plenty of options for meat and veggies. It keeps the possibilities endless. Like I mentioned earlier my go to is a large deli bahn mi on white bread with sriracha mayo add salami and salt and pepper. (I've found that the manager's special, the deli bahn mi is not available at all locations, so I'm thankful to always find it at this one). My girlfriend usually grabs the Austin club on white bread with honey mustard and sprouts and both keep us coming back ultra satisfied and ready for another round. I've also enjoyed their frito pie, Big Paul, and their meatball sub. The drink and chip selection is also fire, I especially enjoy their canned organic lemonade. Outside of the food and their service I love how well kept this place is. Always clean, always inviting, and always a great option to have in rotation. Highly recommend stopping in to visit

I was able to make my way here on my last day in San Antonio in late March thanks to my flight being delayed and my oh my, I am quite impressed! The older gentleman taking my order at the counter gave me a big smile when I mentioned I heard you have this thing called the serious sandwich here. He told me that they do and then stated "You won't regret ordering it, seriously." Chuckling, I decided on a half order of that along with a side of potato salad and their side of beans. After taking my first bite, I realized the gentleman was right. This is a dope sandwich! Excellent cured meats in the salamar and pair of hams along with the provolone and melted cheddar with the veggies, spices, italian dressing, and mustard. The bread they use holds up well and has a slight crunch to it. If you prefer your bread to have softness to it, you may have to ask if they can substitute a different bread instead of the italian flat bread they use. But I absolutely love this sandwich the way it is! As for the sides, the potato salad has a slight mustard taste and right consistency with a dash of paprika on top; just the way I like it. The beans are charro beans (I think) that are served steaming hot with some pork trimmings mixed in; I may have dipped my sandwich in it a couple times for flavor explosion. What can I say, I'm adventurous! There's some ferrari memorabilia and posters on the right side where some of the high top seating is. As a Ferrari F1 fan, I appreciate them displaying this here along with the track map of the COTA circuit in Austin. The seating area is spread out nicely with plenty of seats/tables and a drink station with some random signs up. All of interest to consumers like us. Definitely recommend coming here for either the serious sandwich or other delicious ones like their meatball sandwich or manhattan. I can't wait to come back and try the other ones but I may just stick with the serious sandwich cause I loved it. SERIOUSLY!
