Stopped into this nearby sub chain one weekend afternoon to try one of the last few sandwich shops I've yet to visit. The dining room was clean but not especially busy when I arrived. The service was friendly and the ham and turkey sub I ordered was made fairly quickly as I waited. For the most part, the sandwich was fairly fresh but on the smaller side than a couple of my favorite sub shops. The meat-to-bread ratio was a little low, and the veggies were okay, but there was nothing that stood out about the sandwich. The meats were not especially worth remembering, nor was the freshness of the lettuce and tomato. The bread was okay but didn't taste especially fresh out of the oven. "Finally, No Need to Look Any Further than Firehouse Subs" Over the last year, my company has catered several small catering orders of 20 or less employees utilizing the Firehouse subs on Babcock. As it is close to my job, the location is really convenient and last week Darshan, the manager helped me place a 100 box catering order to celebrate our Holiday kick off. Now I will add that I'm a regular at Babcock, and it always seems like an episode of "Cheers" when I enter and they greet me so Warmly like I'm a member of the family. I would even like to mention that last month, I walked in immediately after they opened and placed an order for 12 sandwiches. Normally, I like to place them in advance to give them so prep time, but without hesitation, Darshan stated it's Ok Jackie and started the meal prep. He worked my orders along with his Door Dash orders and within the hour I was back at work to celebrate my employee's birthday. Not only are the sandwiches fantastic, but the military discount is always appreciated. For our Friday's order, our team dined on 45 Ham, 45 Turkey and 10 Veggie LT. Dan boxed lunches. Since we are still operating under COVID guidelines, we appreciated the sandwich, cookie and chips that were easy to disseminate to the staff and required no heating. When I placed the original order, we thought we were going to need 400 Sandwiches and they were prepared to make them without hesitation. I'll reiterate, the customer service at this location is Top Notch and my staff has demanded this be our go to location for lunch. All of my orders have been correct, the food is properly priced and this will be my go to spot for luncheons and catering events. It is great to know that this organization supports our Fire Fighters and Military and will be my go to location in the years to come. All I can say is I love the Staff, the Team, the Dedication, the Food, the Attention to Detail, the Price, the Location, the Pride they show in their Food and Especially the Love for the Military. Sandwich was good. A little pricey but overall not terrible. Service was mediocre. I was the only one in there and there were four people behind the counter. A majority of their conversation was how they didn't want to be there and were ready to leave already. Ordered for pick at the Babcock location. As I was waiting for my order I filled up my water cup with water. Another employee told me was I going to pay for the drink I just poured I then told him it was just water, he then proceed to ask me can he check. I showed him my cup. Which at this point I already feel uncomfortable.At this point I'm like okay whatever let me just get my food and go. Another employee that was sitting in the lobby doing nothing comes to the cashier and doesn't say anything just looks me in the eye. They have the soda machines where you can get pretty much any flavor drink you want. I always get the turkey bacon ranch club on white bread. The meat is generous, and I love the smoky flavor the bacon adds with the cool ranch dressing. They always seem to add the right amount so it's not soggy. The sandwich comes with a pickle spear. My first time at Firehouse was exceptional. I went with family during a visit to San Antonio, and while the price was high, the freshness, portions, and taste were well worth it. The meatball sub in particular was unlike any other I've had, with plenty of seasoning, fresh and tasty bread, and everything was done right to order. For the record, I love firehouse subs. I am giving this location a 1 star because of employee hand hygiene and food handling practices. Two of the three guys were eating behind the counter. One dude finished a whole meal, pickle and all. The other was eating chips and then making sandwiches. Terrible. I used to work in food service and I know that's unacceptable behavior. I almost left and didn't finish my sandwich but was tempted to stay there and continue to watch them be gross. Not once did they wash their hands!! This is BY FAR the best fast-food-ish sandwich place. My absolute favorite. Blows Subway & Quiznos away. I love all the subs, but my favorite is the Engineer. And if the sub wasnt already SO flavorful... They even have different sauces to use. Each sauce is rated 1-10 based on how spicy it is. I have tried up to a 6 on the spicy scale and it is tolerable. I usually try to grab a different sauce every time to try something new. Each one is unique and flavorful in its own way. You can order a small/medium/large sandwich size. I usually order a medium and it suffices. Of course, if you order a drink and chips (meal) it costs more. However, prices are reasonable for the quality and taste. My sandwich came out with more meat than I'm used to - I think they are a little heavy handed with the meat on their sandwiches - WHICH IS A GOOD THING! I was a fan of it. However, I did read a previous review of a lady that had a horrible experience here - she claimed the manager was very rude. Although I didn't experience any problems - I private messaged that lady and told her I would get in contact with the actual owner.
