Was really excited to try this new restaurant but was immediately thrown off from how unprofessional the staff is. For a restaurant by Ignacio Mattos you'd expect a well trained staff and enticing menu. I'd recommend strongly screening your staff before hiring them and truly training them on how to speak to customer and about the menu. Menu options are just so beyond limited. Ordered the fish special and it was literally inedible. So beyond fishy and poorly made. The fries were also mediocre. Like the type of fries that taste more like the fryer than an actual potato. Two pros were the bread and the melon sorbet. But overall definitely would not go back and would not recommend. Serious work to do guys. read more

This place is extremely average and ridiculously overpriced. The $68 Au Poivre consisted of five very thin slices of skirt steak. (I also saw through past reviews that it was priced at $42 only 1 year ago) There's nothing special about Corner Bar at all that warrants the prices they charge. Was there yesterday and this place is something special. From the minute we walked in and was greeted by Jarod to our pastry desserts recommended by Hannah, we had the best experience. Rebecca, Kim Alfonso and Chef Alice also deserve recognition. They are all sooooo kind and helpful and sweet and amazing reflections of this restauranteur's brand. You're fortunate to have them on your side. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how fantastic the food was. The BLT, and the burger are exceptional and we can't wait to go back and try other items. I have been to Corner Bar five times and each time the pricing gets more absurd. After my experience this week, I will not eat there again - which is really too bad because the food is generally very delicious and I was happy for the addition to the neighborhood. $26 for an heirloom tomato salad at the height of tomato season is highway robbery. Plain and simple. The pine nuts were not toasted or seasoned in any way and seemed like they came directly from the #10 bazzini nut can. There was maybe half an ounce of goat cheese on the salad. $195 for the Côte de boeuf is certainly pricey but the fact that it's advertised as a 32oz portion and came out way smaller is maddening. I've portioned steaks for restaurants for over a decade and this was not a 32oz piece of meat and other professional cooks / chefs at my table agreed. The wine list pricing is equally outrageous. I'm not sure what kind of "neighborhood restaurant" expects to last long when there are far more $300 wines than $75 ones. When the restaurant first opened it was pretty difficult to get a table but my party was able to walk into a fairly empty restaurant and get a table no problem -- which may be a sign that the neighborhood is over the ridiculous pricing. read more

Amazing new restaurant in Dimes Square with a killer wine list! I went with a client and it was such a refreshing change from the staid, usual Midtown power lunch/dinner spots. The owners renovated the Nine Orchard hotel and basically restored parts of it to keep the historical aesthetic, and the entire property is just cool and chic. As for the food, all of it was delicious and well-executed. We had the oysters (clean and refreshing), lobster tagliatelle (their special for the night, shared as an appetizer), chicken, burger and fries. DO NOT SLEEP ON THE BURGER. Crispy edges, perfectly cooked patty - It is probably one of my top favorite burgers in the city now. As for the wine list, the wine list is extensive and their by the glass menu actually has some really interesting wines (not the case at many restaurants). I know a bit about wine, but I asked our somm for her thoughts, and she guided us to the best Vermentino I have ever had, the Cuvee Sarah from Domaine Giacometti (2016). Vermentino can be kind of a meh grape, but this one blew my mind - You're getting Burgundy style white wines with nice crisp acidity at nowhere near the cost of Burgundy whites these days. Highly recommend if you swing by here and if it's still available. Loved the service here - Warm and attentive, without the stiff Midtown feel. Definitely ask the somms for their thoughts and recommendations on the wines, as they have worked at other fine dining restaurants around the city. After finishing dinner, definitely hop on over to Lobby Lounge Bar (make a reservation before, though, because it looks really busy) or any of the other awesome new spots in Dimes Square. read more

Most portions are too small. Way over priced. That said, the food was very good, not great. I ordered Steak Tartare but the chef refused to substitute the egg yolk with olive oil (very common) so the Tartare was a disappointment, especially at that price. The Le Logis Martini was the best martini I ever had. Service was great. read more

Wow Ignacio, what happened here? This restaurant is terrible and an enormous Disappointment from a chef we really admire. The entire dining experience was just terrible. The room itself is very chic and stylish. The hotel that the restaurant is located in looks very chic. The food: incredibly expensive and just plain bad. Oysters Rockefeller, limpid, tasteless and bland, where is the "rockefeller " in these? nary a bit of spinach and, no taste at all beside oysters that tasted like they were opened last week? The nightly special pasta with lamb ragu, over salted, and the pasta so over cooked it was like a baby pablum, and just about inedible. We complained , the waiter listened but never took it off our bill. The steak au poivre and fries , terrible. Tasteless meat, the fries are diner-on-the-corner level. The au poivre sauce, ho hum. we had to make large waiving motions to get the waitstaff to pour wine. We made the enormous mistake of ordering dessert, after the terrible starter forgettable/inedible main course we should have hightailed it. The profiteroles were over- salted, soggy, and with tasteless store-bought ice cream and forgettable chocolate sauce. Avoid this place like the plague... read more

One of the worst restaurants I've ate at in the city. I was excited because it's relatively new to the scene and I've heard a few things about the food being good. First and foremost, the staff upon arrival were very kind and accommodated my jacket and had me sit on a comfortable bench before sitting down. When we finally sat, the tables were so uncomfortably close I could hear the conversations of both parties next to us. Hopefully the waitress was having an off night, but she provided a laundry list of specials that took maybe 5 minutes to explain. We also were hesitant on our orders because nothing looked appealing - it looked like a starved version of the American Bar menu - so the waitress seemed fed up with us that we needed an extra 3 minutes. Also, if you're familiar with Raoul's burger situation, it's a disappointment because it's the same here - you can only order it in the Swan Room across the hall. The waitress tried to push more food on us and made us feel uncomfortable that we didn't order drinks (we don't drink). Additionally, the waitress accused us of not tipping, when in fact we did, and also offered money even before they found out it was their mistake. The environment was lackluster, menu terrible, and service awful. I hope to return here one day with a revamped menu and experience more polite staff. I'll give this place a star because they had a cute matchbook. read more

Staff were condescending and snotty. They made us wait outside for half an hour before they opened and when they did eventually open they were disorganized. And rudely told us no photos allowed in the space even for paying guests. We just walked out and left - don't even bother, there are better places in the city with better service you don't have to be here. read more

We had dinner here with friends last night. From the beginning our experience with service was outstanding. A warm welcome from the hostess, attentive waitstaff, knowledgeable sommelier, and a visit from the chef! The menu is limited but each dish was excellent - the chicory salad was amazing. So i have seen it all but tonight was a stunner. When paying the tab after dinner i was given the handheld device for my credit card. It provides an option for a tip. Common. I added 20% and signed.
