I enjoyed the breakfast sandwich and green juice. Service was not the best but OK. I loved the relaxing and historic ambiance.

I usually don't do another review on a place so soon, but my first visit was awesome and my second visit was equally amazing. Again, easy to get a seat. Great service. Funny, engaging guy. Not too loud. Great music at a reasonable volume. If you go with friends, you'll be able to actually converse. I had the steak frites, served differently than I've ever had it. The meat was sliced very thinly, but was so sumptuous, moist, and flavorful. It was bathed in a peppercorn glaze. The frites, of course, were their famous hot, crispy fries that are on many "New York Best" lists. Cocktails all complex, creative, and smashing.

i have come encounter with one of the best caesar salads ever! had a little girls lunch in this spot. the interior is so chic and really clean and welcoming. staff was excellent and the cocktails were divine. a great dining spot with fresh ingredients and lavish interior. want to come again for brunch!

I grew up in this neighborhood and this building was always under scaffolding for at least the last 10 years. So what a surprise when it finally came down and it was a hotel! Truthfully this place was good but overpriced. Service was good and the place is nice. We came here looking for the shrimp cocktail and the steak au poivre. To our surprise neither was on the menu anymore. So we went with the fruit de mer and the steak special of the day which was a chargrilled ribeye. The seafood platter was delicious and fresh. Great oysters as mussels. The steak was a bit too charred and the rosemary was a bit too overpowering. But overall it was good. The fries were delicious. We ending the night with the pineapple sorbet which tastes like a fancy Dole Whip. Overall the place is a bit overpriced for what it is but there was nothing inherently wrong. Would I come back? Probably just for the sorbet and cocktails. For the price point, I've had better elsewhere and that's ultimately what it comes down to.

This was excellent. First visit, we got the oysters rockefeller, beets, spaghetti pomodoro, bolognese, steak au poivre, french fries, sorbet, and profiterole. Everything was great, with the pomodoro being the surprise star of the night (it was a last minute add for us) -- it was really amazing, despite the time of year, and I think the sauce was a cheesier sauce that had some thickness to it, which we really loved. The oysters and profiterole are probably also musts for next time, but really every dish was excellent.

I think the current star average does not do this restaurant justice, but it is probably a result of the low number of reviews thus far! I had the opportunity to visit with some friends and tried most items on the menu. The overall consensus was that while the menu was not very creative, all dishes were executed to a high level with delicious results, which warrants a 5 star review! Standouts include the steak, the chicken entree (best chicken dish I have had since Crown Shy), and the foie gras. The service was also attentive, which the servers taking care to properly course out everything ordered with good pacing. One hiccup was that the restaurants ordering software glitched out and the bar did not get our drink orders until much later into the meal, which was frustrating but I think was not the restaurant's fault (although it did happen to other tables too from overhearing). Other note is that the pricing is definitely not cheap, so probably better for a special occassion or night out!

Great new spot from Ignacio Mattos in the new Nine Orchard hotel, along with a lounge and an upscale restaurant coming soon. It's a small menu with some great, simple dishes - complimentary bread and butter to start is excellent, as is the Caesar ($21), and then the Spaghetti ($25) and Burger ($24), to which you must add the exceptionally good fries ($12). For dessert, the Melon Sorbet is a must ($14).

Excellent ambiance in the proper dining room as well as the cocktail bar. The bar dining room is a bit noisy and crowded, and would suggest not dining in this room if you want to have a clearer conversation with your fellow diners. The service is excellent, and our waters were refilled whenever it seemed necessary. The food was really wonderful- we both had the duck for dinner, and it was juicy and not too firm. The smoky peach was an amazing touch to that dish. Would return to try more appetizers, and dessert!

I love it here, it had very nice atmosphere and foods are great. We had some cocktails which were stylish and delicious then Broccolini, Stake tartare, Clams and pomodoro with red wine, finished with tiramisu. All of them are really good. Pomodoro was just perfect, they use bucatini which was perfectly al dente, tiramisu was so good!

I came here for dinner with friends last month and we had a wonderful experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful, as is the rest of the hotel. They've done a wonderful job with this historic building. Although there was still some construction going on then, we were able to walk around and check out some other areas, including the lobby lounge, which is gorgeous and worth checking out, but requires a different reservation. Although I assume they take walk-ins, too. We shared an appetizer, 3 entrees, and a side between the 3 of us and really enjoyed everything. However, dessert was our favorite! Both the melon sorbet and mousse au chocolat were extraordinary. We loved the presentation and attention to detail overall - all very in line with the hospitality group behind it. Service was friendly and attentive. One of the staff actually recommended trying the Hollandaise sauce from the fish with the fries - perfect combo! I would certainly recommend this place for a nice meal. Reservations are probably best. I would like to come back and try the lobby lounge next time.

Corner Bar is fabulous. My only complaint is that it isn't on my corner! Corner Bar is the latest effort by star chef Ignacio Mattos of Estela. Once again he has created a wonderful restaurant and a great dining experience. Corner Bar is ostensibly the hotel restaurant inside Nine Orchard, but it really is so much more. Classic food is brought alive by an amazing culinary team. The cocktails, wine list and service are all excellent as well.

Great place to stop in for happy hour! The oysters were so fresh and the service was lovely!

Had very high expectations for Corner Bar. My friends highly recommended the food service and ambiance. Not sure if brunch is just different from my friends dinner experience. The place seems disorganized -- we had to wait ~20mins past our reservation time for the table; there just seems to be some confusion about dishes/organization at the bar where food comes out; and lastly, food was also slow. Portions are small so make sure you order extra sides. I'm a bit fan of Estela so pretty disappointed with my overall experience here...

Best. Steak. In. NYC. What a great spot and vibe but nothing beats the steak. Will bring folks back to try it again.

Wow East Village! You have yourself a gem with Rake Wine Bar! We were waiting for our dinner…read morereservations and decided to stop in here for a pre-dinner drink and bite. I am SO glad we did. The vibe drew us in, they had great music bumpin from the outside, it looked lively and welcoming. Let me tell you- I would have skipped dinner and just stayed here all evening if it was my choice! But alas, my husband wanted a bit more to eat. But let me tell you- their knowledge of wine is PRISTINE! I can't tell you what white wine we had but they captured our tastes perfectly. We also shared a bruschetta and it was deliciouso! I love how friendly the staff was here and how unpretentious it all was. Next time we are in NYC- we will definitely make a point to come visit Rake!

First I'll start with the wine - we ended up trying all three happy hour wines (HH until 7), which the tables favorites were the white and we ended up getting a bottle to split once HH ended (but I really enjoyed the other vino verde option). It was incredibly refreshing and paired well with the many tinned fish options. As you'd expect - it's a pretty massive selection and there is bound to be a varietal and glass for any palate. It's also attached to a wine store - so it's fine to see all the bottles when peaking over. Food-wise - this is where it was hit or miss, they have a pretty extensive menu (with a whole tinned fish section!) and we ended up ordering the buratta on focaccia (buratta was excellent, focaccia was too dense for my tastes), mushroom truffle crostini (way too salty), the flatbread with sliced kielbasa (was fine), halloume (table favorite ), tinned sardines in lemon oil (delicious), tinned smoked trout (my favorite). Overall the four of us were very full at the end of the meal! The space itself felt very relaxing and rustic, and definitely got busier as the night went on (we got there at 6:50 and left around 9). The service was also fast and attentive - even for the amount of tables they were serving. Overall - I'd definitely go back again, and maybe just focus on the wine and another tinned fish selection!

Starting with the positives -the banchan was solid across the board and really flavorful. That said, charging for banchan feels strange to me. Traditionally, it's complimentary, like bread at an Italian restaurant so that part didn't sit right but it was flavorful. The chigae was interesting and probably the standout dish. It had a unique flavor that reminded me of a mix between soondubu and dwenjang chigae which worked well. Unfortunately, the rest was a miss. The bossam was overly salty and didn't feel true to the dish. The tteokbokki was another disappointment -it came with cheese (which wasn't expected) and just fell flat overall. For the hype, I expected much more especially because I've eaten Korean food my whole life. The venue is small and the seats in the back are uncomfortable.

First off, the front door is mounted on flimsy plastic hinges, so every time someone opens it, it swings open violently and knocks the vase off the nearby table. The service was somehow even worse. When I was there on Tuesday, May 19th from 8-10 PM, there was exactly ONE bartender working the entire place -- both inside and outside -- and she was unbelievably inattentive. My date and I sat at the bar for TWENTY MINUTES before she even acknowledged us or asked if we wanted drinks. I literally had to call out "Excuse me" just to order a $25 quarter-filled glass of wine. Embarrassing all around. And when we were ready to leave and wanted the check, the female bartender working on Tuesday May 19th from 8-10 PM was busy standing in the corner chatting with someone instead of helping customers. I haven't seen someone move this slowly or care this little since the DMV. TO MANAGEMENT - this was absolutely horrible, embarrassing, and unprofessional service. Clean up your act, and hire a second or even a third bartender.
