Ok, so don't let the name fool you. This place was much more of a private "date night" type setting than the name would suggest. I did really enjoy my meal, a pork tenderloin lion with three sides. The wait staff could have been a little more attentive for the meal prices but overall no real complaints. Nice place, would definitely make a nice date night spot. read more

The menu is suprisingly varied, perhaps a bit too much so, ranging from fairly inelegant sandwiches to decent pizzas and pastas to nicely plated $20-30 dinner entrees. As an entree I recommend the Irish pork tenderloin (~$22). It's a generous and tender (yet lean) cut of pork, served with sides of stewed purple cabbage, green beans, and scalloped (-ish) potatoes. I've been going to Corner Cafe for years mainly for their generous portions of Chicken Penne. I had no idea that they were hiding one of the absolute best burgers in Louisville. If you're looking for fluff you're not going to find it. What a burger is cooked on matters and they grill theirs. Diagonal grill marks on the patty because it was cooked over flame. Great lunch spot! My family often comes here for large get-togethers! They have tons of soups, salads, and sandwiches m. Their burgers are great, and I love their salmon filet. Love coming here! I can't help but get the Cajun Seafood Alfredo every time, it's mine and my dads favorite. The petite portion is plenty I hardly finish all of it and still have some to bring home. Go for the large portion though (only a couple dollars more) if you want a good amount of left overs! Also, the Caesar salad is amazing and comes with entrees. We absolutely love this place! Staff is always nice and helpful and we are always visited by the owner. Their most surprising "hidden gem" on the entire menu is a vegetarian submarine (however eat it as it comes, it's best that way). With out of town house guests, one needs to know where to go for dinner that will WOW them, and make you the hero as the host. The place has to have a varied menu, with an interesting ambiance and friendly staff. We chose the Corner Cafe, and we were not disappointed. The interesting art work alone is worth the visit, especially by Don Burchett, one of my favorite locals. the four of us that night had something different, and the selections were all delivered to please. Don't mistake the menu listing "petite" for a small serving though. It just means you won't require a large to-go box when you don't finish it. Being a supporter of local farming and markets, I would have liked to see some meats and veges from the locals. (I'm thinking of the outstanding meats from Dream Catcher Farms) Perhaps this is an opportunity for the owners to cash in on what some other restaurants are doing to attract the natives with the same interests as mine; growing the local economy by supporting the local growers! read more

To vet my review, we purchased our first home via their fax machine in March 2010. I received a call of my Grandad's death while eating here in 2005. I loved this place. Ok, so the food is good to nearly great, but the service takes it down to a one star. Servers rarely know what bourbons, scotchs, or wine are offered. They really need to reduce the menu and do 15-20 items excellent instead of the huge menu offered. If you're a film producer, wanting to film a 1980's decor mob movie, you're in luck! The corner cafe is an unusual place. There are regulars who've been coming to this place for decades. Some people (like me) pop in here for lunch meetings from time to time. But I think most would agree to the statement; "ehh, ya know, it's pretty good". I don't think there is anything particularly special about the place. I think it wears the cloak of a restaurant far fancier than it is. It looks dated on the inside. And the seating is just a little too tight. But overall the food is great. The people are friendly. The owner seems welcoming and gregarious. Overall, I've always had good experiences. And I've enjoyed every meal I've tried. I think they could slim down their menu and update some of the decor. But it's not a bad place. I wouldn't call it fancy, but I wouldn't call it casual either. read more

A family friend has always talked about how he eats here often. I had always wanted to check it out. One day I was looking for a new place to get pizza and saw reviews for Corner Cafe. Well, we were definitely NOT disappointed! The crust is crispy not soggy. The sauce is tasty, not too sweet or salty. The cheese is great quality! The toppings were pepperoni and sausage and they were perfect! We have since been back since our first visit and it has always been delicious and the same consistency. My only complaint is their fountain drinks are hit or miss (-1 star), but they always give you water so at least there's that! And basket of bread too! Large Group Event. Corner Cafe was the site for our son and DIL's rehearsal dinner. There were several menu options available to choose from for guest meals, which made for quick buffet style service. We confirmed a count of 34 people for our event and the buffet would have easily fed several more people, and leftovers were abundant. Everything was handled professionally from the planning to the service to the final bill. Robert was very easy to work with. Took Betty out for her 84th birthday. This is her favorite place and she had eaten here this past weekend already for her birthday with family. She likes it because it is quiet although tonight it wasn't as a group of former high school girl classmates were eating in private room.( Her daughter in law is part of this group but wasn't with them tonight. )Betty enjoyed her roast beef sandwich but it didn't seem to have the carmelized onions she requested. She also has a cold pasta salad. She didn't finish either. I had the Greek shrimp and artichoke pasta which was delicious and the side salad. Bleu cheese dressing tasted homemade to me. Loved it. My husband had the seafood pasta and salad and thought both were great. Betty ordered the dreamcicle cake as her free birthday dessert. We enjoyed sharing it. read more

Dated and dingy little restuarant. Had a strange sewer smell upon walking in. Not a single other patron was there. No vegetarian options except cheese pizza. Most items on menu are not made-to-order..couldn't even order a wrap without cheese. I assume its frozen and reheated then? We thought the food was bland...just nothing to it and forgot to bring out our apps. The owner/manager was very rude...seemed to just be his personality. Acted irritated at having customers...reminded me of the owner of Three Dog Bakery. Love this resturant!! Great prices and family friendly. I really like the pacific rim salmon. The staff is always polite and service is very quick. Came here while staying in the area. Cute place, would be great if I was a local for a nice dinner out on Friday night. Food was OK. Lobster bisque and the rolls were really good. My wife got the BLT soup which was OK but not great. Next I had the shrimp and grits. Very disappointing. By the time it got to me the sauce had formed a skin and the shrimp seemed a tad undercooked. Grit texture and flavor was good but this place couldn't even be the same ball park as Jack Fry's. I got a pasta with Romano cream sauce and chicken. It was pretty good, nothing amazing. My wife got Gorgonzola stuffed ravioli with mushrooms and filet medallions. It was OK. she wasn't into it. Over all just so so. Disappointing to me based on the reviews. They were very friendly but the service was a tad slow. They were very helpful in accommodating our 2 year old by bringing him some fruit.
