Nice place to hang out and meet friends, have drinks and grab a bite to eat. Staff were friendly. The bar area in this restaurant is a bit small and always crowded. Regulars rule here, as they should. Food was decent. Lot of down home pics when it come to food. Definitely will return. read more

My wife and I visited Blackstone this past Friday evening for our 33d wedding anniversary. We were seated immediately (no reservation). It was busy but our server (can't remember her name) took good care of us. It was pricey and although the steak was good it wasn't on par with the cost. We celebrated my husband's birthday, and it was the perfect choice! From start to finish, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff made us feel so welcome on such a special night. The food was outstanding--my husband loved the chicken skewers, which were perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. I tried the salmon burger, and it was absolutely fabulous--fresh, flavorful, and cooked just right. Every bite was delicious.We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. The Blackstone Grille is very close to my house. My wife and I had never darkened their doors until recently. The only reason I can give is that we have always been a fan of J. Harrods, so we would drive the extra half a mile to eat there on a regular basis. With J. Harrods closing, we had been visiting the Paddocs restaurants more regularly. At a recent Wedding Reception, restaurant choices came up and several friends highly recommended Blackstone. With such high praise, we decided to try Blackstone. Pulling into the parking lot reminded me of another reason that we had not been to Blackstone, the parking lot was full. We found a spot and walked in. As the parking lot had foretold, the restaurant was packed. My wife spotted the only 2 open seats in the place at the bar, so we quickly took our place after questioning the nearby patrons to make sure we were not stealing anyone's seats. Mt wife ordered her standard Old Fashion, and I, my standard rum and coke. Our friends had told us we had to try the Fried Calamari, so that was the 1st thing we ordered. I had noticed on the specials board walking in that the Chef was offering up a special that night, scallops. Reading they had scallops made my choice easy. I ordered the scallops with baked potato and green beans. My wife ordered the Plank Salad with grilled chicken. When the fried calamari came out it was our friends had described it. A large, meaty portion that tasted fantastic. We both agreed that our main entrees were most excellent. My only comment concerns the green beans. I grew up in the deep south where green beans were cooked differently. I have been to enough restaurants around the world to know there are many ways to prepare green beans. Blackstone's stones green beans were served al dente. They were very tasty, just not my preferred way of eating green beans. My wife on the other hand, really enjoyed her portion of my green beans. I would be amiss if I left out the wait staff and especially the bartenders. We had the best time setting at the bar and laughing and joking with the bartenders. They were able to keep everyone served with their desired beverage while at the same time entertaining the bar patrons. The entire experience was fantastic. I can honestly say that I am sorry we had not been to Blackstone prior, but I can assure you we will become regulars. read more

The calamari appetizer last night was literally the best we've ever had anywhere. Fresh, tender, light rice-based breading, with just the right seasoning. We go there at least 6 times a year and we're never disappointed. Service is warm and friendly, food is always great, cocktails made with care, and we always feel welcomed. We were on vacation and starving so we pulled up restaurants nearby and this was a spur of the moment choice. Needless to say it did not disappoint. We very lucky and got a table in the bar area as they were booked with reservations. We started with the shrimp cocktail which was so good. The shrimp were ice cold and the cocktail sauce was perfect. We opted to share the New York Strip which was topped with fried onions, and our sides of scratch made collards and mashed potatoes. They plated our steaks and sides on two different plates before bringing our food to the table. This was by far some of the best food we had on this trip. We finished up with MOLTEN CHOCOLATE BOMBE which is a ‍Chocolate cake with a warm liquid chocolate center, with vanilla ice cream and we opted to have it "loaded" with peanut butter, bacon, and whipped cream. OH MY GOODNESS!!!! The ambiance was very nice. As I said, we sat in the bar area but it was still very quiet and it's a quaint little restaurant. The server was stellar. If you're ever in Prospect Kentucky, do not miss this spot. read more

Had one of the better meals I've had in a while at Blackstone. My husband and I wandered in early on a Friday night not realizing we probably needed a reservation, but luckily, they had some open seating in the bar area. Service was good but getting food took a while, but it was evident that there were staffing issues so I wouldn't hold that against them. I had a grilled chicken sandwich, my husband had a burger and we also tried their French onion soup and a salad. We were impressed by all of it! I love finding good local spots in the East End. We stopped in at Blackstone Grill on a Saturday evening about 7:30p. We live nearby and had been wanting to try this restaurant for sometime. Staff were very friendly. We were seated quickly near the bar but immediately felt cramped and like we were sitting in a walkway. Unfortunately, I must report our dining was not so great either. We ordered a steak burger (medium) and grilled mahi sandwich. I am kind of baffled as to why our food arrived 45 minutes later. Several times our waitress stopped to offer that she had checked and our food was coming. We also noticed other orders coming out ahead of ours. When it arrived my fish was lukewarm, side of mashed potatoes was cold. My husband reported his steak burger was just ok. Normally I would give them the opportunity to correct any problems but it was late we were hungry and not terribly comfortable and just wanting to leave. read more

14 oz. of medium rare bliss! Was visiting my in-laws and Blackstone is a regular treat for them and I can't remember the last time I had prime rib as I'm trying to eat less meat. The average entree price was 25 bucks when it should have been 6.99. If you gave me the choice between this place and McDonald's I'm picking the Golden Arches EVERY time. As soon as the food hit the table I knew it was not going to be good..it looked horrible. The cup that the sweet potato fries came in was ACTUALLY sitting directly in the gravy! The chicken looked and tasted like it had been boiled, and the fish was cold. Someone in the kitchen was clearly trying to dress the fish up by putting peas on top. I got full on Sierra Mist and spinach dip because it was the only palatable thing on the table. I guarantee a meal at Denny's would have been better...yes I said Denny's because that's how horrible it was. read more

Overall a good dinner. I had a friend with me and we both settled on steak. She had the Filet, and I had the Delmonico. Both cuts were prepared properly and flavorful. The adult beverage old fashioned needed some help. The sides were prepared properly and were good. Seemed like a laid back older crowd for dinner. Service was friendly and no issues. Overall, I would go back for the steak, it was one of the better ones I've had recently. Maybe provide a small print out with market pricing, or have servers mention recommendations. Such as I recommend the filet, current pricing is _. That would give someone an idea about which direction to go in for their meal choice. I would recommend giving them a try. read more

Out to dinner on a Tuesday night with friends. Greeted and seated at a nice four top at our 7pm reservation time. Promptly given menus and offered cocktails by our server. Very nice Manhattans were quickly made and delivered. half price wine night (for some) brought a nice bottle of Pinot at a reasonable price. We shared stuffed mushrooms which were very tasty . We shared house salads and wedge salads. I had the pork chop which was cooked perfectly. My friends had the salmon. This was my first time at Blackstone. I was totally impressed with the atmosphere and the service. But the food was outstanding. The salads were crisp. The shrimp dishes were excellent with just enough shrimp (did not skimp.). Beware of bar drinks, the bartender pours heavy, not that I am complaining., The creme brûlée was top notch (and large.) I decided to come in here very spur of the moment on a Wednesday around 5:30 pm and when I walked in the bar area was really full, but the host told me that was the only place that had open seating and that the dining room was already booked. I'm guessing if you ever want to go dine in with someone you should make reservations. But I found a table and was waited on fairly fast. She told me the two specials of the day were Prime Rib and a Lobster Roll. I felt stupid for asking, but since it wasn't listed anywhere I asked what the damage would be on the specials. She said $19 for either and they came with two sides. So, I chose the prime rib special and the spinach casserole and the risotto of the day. Holy moly, talk about good. My favorite was the spinach casserole. I couldn't believe how delicious it was. Creamy, hot and so flavorful. The risotto of the day was delicious as well. It was a wild mushroom and cheesy mixture. The steak was cooked correctly, tender and it came with a horseradish sauce and an au jus sauce. I alternated between the two. I have to mention there were many drink specials also. Bourbon was half off all day on Wednesdays. There were many other specials too, but I think that was because of the early time that I was there. (Sorry, I didn't listen better). Absolutely the best dinner decision I have made in quite some time! The Blackstone Grill in Prospect has been on my list for almost a year, I had called in a reservation once before only to cancel that and go elsewhere. Late this Tuesday afternoon (on Valentine's Day), I called to see if I could get a table or 2 and they had a cancelation so I lucked out.....REALLY! We arrived just before our reservation and were seated promptly. We we greeted by our server Macy J. and started off this meal with a couple cocktails (Pain Killer for her and the Blackstone Manhattan for me), we will highly recommend both! Next up for our Appetizer, the Lobster Wontons (6/order) were very flavorful and worth ordering every time! Salads arrived just after we finished the appetizer and they were also on point. My wife ordered the Plank Salad (like half a head of lettuce), easily large enough to feed two! I opted for the Brutus Salad (with Anchovies) and Caesar Dressing. This salad was also very fresh, flavorful and well portioned. For Entrees, my wife ordered the Filet with Asparagus and Country Ham Scalloped Potatoes while I chose the Delmonico Ribeye with Baked Potato and Collard Greens! I have to say, the meals were both A+, top notch, perfectly prepared and very hearty portions! This 12oz Delmonico was one of the best steaks, cooked to perfection at Medium Rare but with a perfect light charred crust (my wife said that my late looked like a magazine ad). This was easily one of the best steaks I have had and would stack up against ANY or ALL the biggest name steakhouses this city has to offer! My wife's Filet was literally cut with her fork, perfectly cooked for her at Medium with Asparagus that was fresh and very well cooked. For desserts, we chose the Chocolate Molten Cake "Loaded" with Ice Cream and the Special Dark Chocolate Mousse with Raspberries and Raspberry syrup! Perfect ending to a perfect Valentine's Day dinner with awesome service! Needless to say, we will be back very soon, as often as possible! We both love the food here. The atmosphere is really kind of tight. It's a small location and it does get really busy. Shrimp cocktail is as good as you get it any of the high-end steak houses. The crabcake dish was amazing. The crab and whatever they put into it mixed with the aïoli that you get with it is a great mix. The corn pudding, if you like corn pudding, is probably the best I've ever had. The lobster wontons were amazing. The edges were a little well done but what matters is the filling and it was awesome. I had the basil and lemon scallop pasta. Big diver scallops and were cooked perfectly. The au gratin potatoes was a little heavy but if that's what you're looking for it's good. The risotto changes up every so often and tonight it was more of a Cajun risotto which was very good as well. They do have weekly specials that change up the menu. We went on a different night in the prime rib that was featured was also very good. read more
