This restaurant was absolutely disgusting. I hate that I have to say something like this, but it is 100% true. The atmosphere was a dive bar experience and that was cool for prospect. But strictly food wise, it was very underwhelming. The only thing decent was the fish tacos and even then they didn't give us enough sauce for the fish tacos. I ordered a burger as well. The burger was supposed to come with burger sauce. The burger sauce was nonexistent. The Philly cheesesteak wrap was decent, but it was still lacking in sauce. It was dry. My coworker ordered a steak medium well and it was well done almost burnt, and it was extremely bland. We met some friends at Karem's Grill and Pub in Prospect, Ky. the Friday before thunder. This is one of the original establishments to operate in Norton Commons. It's a small place with an expansion room next door. We met our server who explained that he is a trainee. He provided ample service throughout our visit and was very personable and seemed to be enjoying his job. This was on a Friday evening and they were slammed. We chose to sit outside on the sidewalk as it was a pleasant evening weather-wise. Karem's offers a varied menu such as burgers, wraps, sandwiches, seafood dinners, salads, and lots of choices for appetizers. I ordered the B.L.T. with a side of mac and cheese. Truthfully, it was not the best BLT that I have experienced in Louisville, but it was okay. The Mac & Cheese was delicious. My wife ordered the Boss Burger Wrap and Sweet Potato Fries and she said they were excellent and would order again. The ambience at Karem's is always wonderful experience and the food is great and my favorite is the Reuben with sweet potato fries.

My wife and I came on a Friday night around 7pm. The bar was packed, but we were seated immediately in the dining side. We had the fish and chips and the tater kegs. Everything was hot and tasted great. With a couple drinks the total was around $50. Service was great. It's a nice place in Norton commons. Parking was easy on some of the close side streets. Karem's is a local place in the heart of Norton Commons. It has earned a following over the years as a great place to have a drink, watch a game, have a meal and meet up with friends. My friend who lives in NC suggested we grab dinner there. We shared a plate of buffalo wings. Very tasty!! I love wings and these were great! Then I ordered a Reuben with house smoked corned beef, Swiss and sauerkraut. Pretty awesome and so large I could only eat half! My friend got a chicken avocado sandwich that she loves. That was huge as well!! There are entree style meals available too. Hope to try one next time I'm there. Nice vibe, amazing service! We came with a group of friends for lunch after church and none of us had visited / heard of this place before! The menu has tons of delicious options from salads and burgers, to fish options or sandwiches. I got the Buffalo chicken sandwich with sweet potatoes fries; my husband got the reuben with tater tots. We were both so blown away by the quality of the food. My sandwich was juicy, flavored just right, and tasted amazing. The sweet potato fries were crispy without being too hard. My husband loved his sandwich - made with meat from a smoker out back!! We all joked that we were gonna come back for dinner it was so good. Our waiter was incredible. If your familiar with Norton Commons than your familiar with Karems. We stopped in for their Grand Re-Opening a few weeks ago after new owners took over. It still looks exactly the same and has your neighborhood bar feel, continuing the tradition as Norton Commons Neighborhood "Cheers" The new menu is a combination of new and old selections alike. We started with the Hot Brown Fritters with Smoked Gouda Fondu. Can I just say FIRE!!!! For all y'all tomato haters out there like me, it's has crushed up sun-dried tomatoes and you'd never even know their in there! We also tried the hand battered fried chicken tenders tossed in Buffalo sauce which were also delicious. I can't wait to go back to simply hang out and eat delicious food. read more

My experience is only with the grill side although I did have a couple of bourbons. The mahi (blackened) was good and I had the grilled zucchini & squash along with the green beans as my sides. The food was tasty and the portion sizes were good, not great. It was very loud due to one large table celebrating a birthday and they apparently thought they were the only people in the place. They have a lot of homemade sides that I'll have to try next time. I got the Reuben with fries. Yum! So filling! It's hard to find a good Reuben, especially below the Mason-Dixon. Living in Norton Commons we were going to try something different and low key. We were disappointing at best. Food was mediocre and cocktails honestly were horrendous! Could tell most of the food was frozen prior to cooking and the pricing was not reflective of it. The only saving grace was the waiter. He was very good, attentive and patient. It had been over 5 years since we had been to Karem's after they had in our eyes slipped in both food and service. Tonight we decided to try them again and we are glad we did. it was a busy night, but they were still working hard to take care of everyone. Our service was not fast, but we were checked on often. My wife and I found Karem's after a bourbon tasting at Commonwealth Tap. I had The Spicy Italian (ham, salami, pepper cheese, banana peppers and onions) and my wife had The Beast of Roast Beef (roast beef, horsey cheddar, bacon, spicy mustard, horseradish sauce)... We both added fries.. an upcharge... My wife ordered an Old Fashion. The first thing she said when she saw it was that it was red (meaning the bartender had poured cheery juice into it) for her a big no no .... I had a Woodford and ginger... The sandwiches were OK.. nothing wrong but my Spicy Italian had no spice and was kind of bland tasting. My wife stated her sandwich was on the bland side as well. The fries were good. A few side comments: We were there on a Thursday night... The place was packed by 6:30 and they only had one server on staff... The service was on the slow side. Not her fault....she did a good job of handling everyone as best she could. Management needed at least 2 servers working. Kids... There were a large number of small children there. I have nothing against children, I was once one myself... but I thought it odd so many kids were there ... I got the Pizza Sticks and shared the Philly chicken roll. The pizza Sticks were piping hot with cheese on them and were garnished with garlic (I think?). Too damn hot and tasty. The chicken wrap was well made and had fresh spinach and onion in it. Tasted a lot better than I expected it to taste. My friend and I came here originally for a special that was being advertised through Facebook. I was expecting a lot more out of this place. The food was good, but honestly I was just not that impressed overall. The restaurant itself is very, very tiny, and it can be easy to feel claustrophobic in there. It's also a little hard to tell from the atmosphere what they specialize in. They did seem to have a lot of good-looking items on the menu, and I went with the boss burger. Honestly the food is fine, I wouldn't say it's anything spectacular. It's a place where you'd get a drink and appetizer or "shareable" type food. Not somewhere I'd want to sit down and have steak, or fish things like that. Since the management change they got rid of their best item (in my opinion), the onion rings. Since the menu changed, everything got more expensive. The staff isn't overly friendly, it feels like a hassle to get seated if you have more than two people. It's been that way the last several times I've been, it feels inconvenient for some of the staff to be of assistance at times. read more
