Well, I still missed the old corner house. They certainly did do a fabulous job moving into the old chancery on the lake. The view is amazing. I was staying in the connected DoubleTree hotel and didn't feel like driving to find dinner. I walked into the restaurant and was a bit confused because that entry brought me into the middle of the dining room. I had to walk through the entire restaurant to get to the hostess stand. I decided to sit at the bar and was greeted immediately. The waitress took my order and brought out warm bread with butter. The bread was soft and I had to stop myself from eating the entire loaf. My meal also came with a salad that I didn't get a picture of but I requested the house pepper dressing which was delicious. The Alfredo was just ok. The chicken didn't have a lot of flavor and the Alfredo sauce tasted like a doctored up jar sauce. The restaurant has a dark moody type of vibe that would be nice for a date night. They also have an outdoor bar overlooking the water but I went to dinner after the sun had set so I missed the view. I would go back if staying at the hotel again. read more

We had a delicious, relaxing dinner here when we were in town overnight a couple weeks ago. We live less than an hour away, so we are already making plans to go back later this summer. The restaurant is set on the Racine marina, adjacent to an inexpensive parking garage ($2). Getting there from our hotel was easy and quick. The restaurant is in the same building as the Doubletree, but that's not where we were staying, We called ahead and made a reservation, but still had to wait a few minutes for our table, which we did at one of the small tables in the bar. We hadn't been served there by the time our table was ready - it was just a few quick minutes' wait. As it turned out, waiting was probably to our benefit, because they asked if we were willing to sit upstairs as a table had opened up there. I asked if it was the same view as downstairs, and she said better. And it was! We were in the circular, turret-like area at one corner of the restaurant, the second floor of which our server later told us had been added when the new owner had remodeled and reopened the restaurant. Our awesome server Christina told us that originally it was just a large open area, with only a first floor. Putting that second floor in was definitely a great decision, as we had a beautiful, up-high view of the marina and Lake Michigan beyond it. We decided to order both the prime rib and a New York strip, and split the two. Both were delicious. The prime rib was lean and juicy, and the steak was nicely charred and seasoned. Both were served perfectly medium rare, just as we had ordered them. We ordered mid-size cuts of both, and there was plenty left over to take home for another meal later in the week. This place is a 3.5 star but has potential to be at least 4 star. Portions were supper club huge, ambiance was beautiful on Lake Michigan looking over the yacht harbor, and service was great. But the first thing we noticed was plastic cups for water when we sat down. This is a white tablecloth joint with a bunch of yacht people. Capet seemed cheap old and outdated. I loved the space and the location, but the food wasn't worth the price. I had heard and seen mixed reviews but people who like it really like it so we gave it a chance. Four of us met for dinner on a Friday night 2 of us got filet (one was lukewarm), one person got the whitefish which was completely cold. The prime rib was just lukewarm as well and one of the mashed potatoes was cold. For the price was very disappointing-how can 3/4 of the meals come out cold or lukewarm. We had an okay experience at Corner House. This was my first time at the new location. We had reservations for 6:30pm but we weren't seated until 7pm. Not a good start. Also, many of the employees didn't have their masks on or covering their face fully, including the hostesses and bartenders. They attempted social distancing in the dining rooms but there is nothing of the sort at the bar and that's where the front entrance is. Our server, Orlando, was amazing. He was funny, quick and attentive to our requests. Ask for him! The food was all great starting with the warm bread at the table. We had the French onion which was delish. All good reviews around the table for the various entrees. You get soup, salad and potato of choice with all entrees so you won't be leaving hungry. They also gave us a brandy alexander ice cream dish for the birthday we were celebrating so that was a nice, unexpected touch. Corner House is an old school supper club nestled in Racine. You can tell it's been around for quite some time and they do a fine job on serving up the goods and making you feel cozy. Typically, we pass through here for a cocktail or two before hitting nearby events. A good friend of ours finally got a gumption to get all us buds together and give this place a proper sit down and try it all out. To start the Corner House gets busy, so for a party of 16 we most definitely had reservations. As we all started to make our way in, we lined the galley style bar/dining area up and had the bar tender slanging them drinks! As the Corner House does, they only had 1 bartender on, so this guy was busy. With the hit or miss crowd it's hard to plan for when you'll need backup at the bar. For what it's worth the bartender handled it like a champ. Other than sometimes waiting a little to long no complaints here. On to the goods. I ordered the Tomahawk steak. This is one giant chunk of meat. For around $70 I would have expected it to be cooked to perfection. I requested it medium rare which in itself can be a hard cook but being it's a steakhouse I expected nothing short of perfection. It came out medium. Didn't get to the rare till near the bone. It was good but between the lack of seasoning and the overcook I was a little disappointed. Everything else that seemed to be coming to our table was solid though and for serving 16 people I really won't complain about the finer details. The wait staff handled and served us correct and that's a huge plus in my book. I ate my whole steak and left full so overall that's abut all one can ask for. If I ever come back, I will stick to what I think they do best, Prime Rib. I'll also come with a smaller group so I can see how they serve it up in a more intimate setting. The 1/4 long vienna beef hotdog was enormous and could feed tok with the fries. The new york steak was not cooked to the requested temperature (it was undercooked, asked for medium rare and got it rare ..like blue rare). It also had no seasoning, but the sauce on the plate seasoned the meat. No real additions just a scoop of mushrooms and 2 onion rings. Garlic whipped mashed potatoes were good. Cocktails average. Came here for a Christmas dinner with my dad, his fiance, my husband, and my brother and we had a great time. The meal was perfectly spread out so we didn't feel rushed at all. Our waitress was wonderful! She was right there for anything we needed and checked in on us every once in awhile. Everyone we came across from the hostess to the waitress was very professional and kind. I had the regular cut prime rib with garlic whipped potatoes and it was impeccable! Every bite melted in my mouth and I can't wait to eat the rest for left overs. I also had the Baked French Onion soup which was amazing, the salad with Thousand Island, and of course some of the delicious bread with butter. Very disappointed to be writing this review. CH has been a staple in the city and my family for many years. After finally trying the new location, I will never be back again. When it sold from the original owners and location, it should have completely rebranded and let the CH name die. This is not the old CH... incredibly underwhelming, average food, and overpriced for the quality. Half of what we ordered was plain bad, half of it was way too salty!! Inedible salty..... only one out of 5 dishes was good, the Alfredo with shrimp and broccoli. Prime rib is a $25 prime rib, nothing special, and certainly not $60 quality. But I will say, the portions and cocktails were good. Service was average as well. If this is a "high end" restaurant, the servers should at least have a smile on their face and be attentive, and top tier, at that. Very cool building and atmosphere(although not the original "feel" as an old-school high-end restaurant), and beautiful location, but also remember to prepare for inconvenient parking!! read more

Just stopped in for appetizers and drinks. The hotel concierge said there was a separate bar for appetizers. Nope. Terrible margarita. $15 for Buffalo Trace on the rocks. Do NOT ORDER THE APPETIZER TRIO. EVER. it came out looking like cheese covered slop. The escargot tasted good, but shrimp dejonge was just shrimp on top of a puddle of garlic butter and the stuffed mushrooms tasted of mushroom, but was filled with a gummy breading...at least that was what we could best guess it was. Ugh. The only reason for two stars was that the oysters Rockefeller were decent. Someone please teach the bartender that if I can See you smile then your mask isn't doing it's job, but then the hostess had it just covering her chin. They have a nice outside patio with bar for enjoying the beautiful summer days and people watch, while the boaters trying to dock at the fuel dock provide free entertainment while enjoying your food and cocktails. Went with my husband to celebrate our 25th Wedding anniversary on Sunday October 30. We had reservations and were promptly seated at a lovely table by a window overlooking the harbor. Our waitress Hannah was PHENOMENAL. Took our orders and then promptly brought warm bread and our beverages. The bread was delicious. It was a great pairing with our soup. I had the cream of asparagus, my husband had the crock of baked French onion. Both soups were superb. Next course was a fresh garden salad with ranch dressing for us both. Very tasty especially with the fresh cracked black pepper that was added. Our entrees came next. Dry rubbed full rack of ribs for my husband with a baked potato and I had the porterhouse steak - cooked medium, with garlic mashed potatoes. My husband said the ribs were hands down the best he has ever had. My steak literally melted in my mouth. I have eaten many steaks in my life- this one topped them all. It was cooked perfectly, seasoned well and needed nothing else to it. It was pure perfection. The mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. We couldn't finish and took the leftovers home. Before we left, our server Hannah brought out a slice of pumpkin spice cheesecake with a candle to wish us a Happy Anniversary. The whole experience was amazing. I love everything about The Corner House Supper Club! Steeped in history, as you walk in, you feel the love, the excitement and the good times that proceeded you. The hostess was sweet and welcoming. The bartender was witty with a true understanding of the art of cocktails. I enjoyed a perfect martini. From the appetizers to the entrees and desserts, everything was perfection. Each meal includes soup, salad AND potato. What a fantastic value! Our group enjoyed a filet, prime rib and duck. The French Onion soup was delicious. The Italian dressing on my salad was light and refreshing. My giant baked potato was cooked perfectly. The filet arrived with mushrooms and onion strings. Nice touch! This was our first time in Racine, WI and we were staying at the Doubletree and wanted dinner. We were greeted by Susan the hostess. The dining room was decorated beautifully for the Christmas holiday. We asked to be seated with the view of the marina. Our server was Sarafina, and she did an excellent job, she explained the menu and made sure we were happy with our meal. We had the Oysters Rockefeller and the Shrimp De Jonghe for starters, with the stuffed shrimp with crab with garlic mashed potatoes and he had the lobster tail with a baked potato and Key Lime pie for dessert. The service was mediocre at best, the ambiance (we were seated upstairs even though we had reservations) was left to be desired-the lighting was like eating in a cafeteria it was bright, the bus boy kept dropping things, the waiter argued with me that the prime rib was medium (I cannot eat medium rare or rare) plus it was salsty, when it was truly rare, the drink was lacking alcohol...we didn't even make it to the bar to have a grasshopper after dinner (if they even had one) since I didn't want to drop another dime there. The hostess was very unfriendly, the place was empty and she asked if we had a reservation and said she'd have to check to see if she could seat us. She seemed to have an attitude. My experience here was food with odd flavors that tasted like the chef uses powdered herbs and spices instead of fresh, poor quality ingredients except for all the meats, middling service, and high prices. For appetizers I tried the shrimp which had loads of powdered garlic and a powdered pepper that had an odd flavor like powdered lemon. It wasn't the best. The lamb appetizer was very good - very tender indeed although a bit oily. The soup was quite good - just regular French onion soup. The salad and dressing almost certainly came from bags and containers - doubtful anything was made on the premises. I'm never a fan of iceberg lettuce because it lacks flavor and nutrients, but there was a fair amount of it in the salad. The dressing wasn't anything special, presumably also from a container, not made there. The steak was quite flavorsome, with a good char, but it was not cooked as requested - I asked for medium rare, what came out was medium. The onion and mushroom covering for the steak was a bit oily and the mushrooms were from a can - rubbery and with no flavor. The garlic mash was just mashed potato with some powdered garlic. And the California veggies resembled the cheapest frozen supermarket veggies - and a taste to match since it tasted very much like cardboard. The service was bad news - somewhat rushed wait staff whose minds were elsewhere trying to act like the place is a top notch steak house but was everything but. The prices, for the quality of the food, are very expensive. For those prices I expect food that is made on the premises with fresh, quality ingredients. And to top it off, they shut down the A/C at about 9pm, perhaps to get people to leave? Fundamentally this is an unimpressive place all around that's way overpriced, with poor quality food and uninspired service. Of course, your mileage may vary! read more

I took my three sons to the corner house on a Friday night, and had the worst service I've ever gotten at a 'decent' restaurant. 30 min after we ordered, they realized they only had 3 of the 4 racks of ribs we ordered. I said the least they could do was buy us a round of drinks. After 75 minutes she finally brought us our second beers (yes, it took our waitress 45 minutes to get a round of BEERS). When I asked for a glass, she brought it back HOT - straight from the dishwasher. When I complained, she laughed, and brought a cold glass from the freezer. I inquired 'has she ever known anyone to drink beer from a HOT glass?'. It was clear she didn't care. After 90 minutes of waiting, I asked for the check. The owner, slurring drunk, and barely able to stand upright, came over to apologize. The owner stated there was an injury in the kitchen that caused the delay. Im unclear how a accident in the kitchen is related to our waitress taking 45 minutes to bring a round of drinks. Apparently the ribs were magically 'just about done' so we took them to go - and it tasted like they were marinated in ketchup. The people wearing mink coats didn't have a problem getting service, and it was clear from the start we weren't 'valued' customers. I will never return to the Corner House. read more

For 28 years my husband and I have celebrated our anniversary with Corner House and always have been happy. This past May 2024 when we went very disappointing. we used to get soup and salad we had to choose either or. the waitress knocked the water all over our table never cleaned it up we had to sit in it through our whole dinner. Waitress never came back to check on us after meal was served. My Boss actually paid 300.00 as a surprise for me and my Husband he ordered tons of deserts there were 3 of us and again the bill was 300.00 without the tip the server did not have a clue as to what she was doing. very disappointing we will be going to Summit for the prime rib from now on. read more

I hate even writing this...I have eaten at the CH many times over the years however this was my first time to your new location. No host when we arrived at 7:15 PM so we went to the bar. The beer glasses smelled like unwashed glasses. We then noticed another bartender smell glasses before he used them. Weird but we left our beers and made our way back to the host stand to get a table not thinking much at the time . Soup came out COLD waited a good 5 min for someone to come back, but no-one did. We got up and started to ask the busboy when our sever returned, confused, I asked for crackers for my chowder and told her the soup was cold. She left, returned and said they had no crackers...I sorry I don't want cold soup, especially with no crackers, so we just said take it away. The salad came out looking wilted, I set it to the side, had it picked up uneaten. Now my food comes with the blackest, wettest soaked baked potato I've seen outside of a garbage can. Mind you, she never once sent a manager by, one never stopped by or anything. I tried to explain this potato has not been rotated, It had to be from when the opened at 3pm. I paid my bill and left at 8:59 having been there an hour and 45 minutes with 3 bites of cold soup and a to go bag as by this time I wasn't about to eat the Fish. I was here for the fish fry. The menu specified "hand breaded cod" or perch. I've never had perch breaded so I assumed it would not be. I made a point of telling the waitresses that I wanted the fries crispy. What did I get? Soft limp fries and breaded perch. When I complained to the waitresses, she got her manager. The manager was rude and nasty. She said I should have told the waitress what I wanted and walked away. I am very sad (and out $40!) that i had such a terrible experience here.
