I am so thrilled to have a place in San Fernando that offers food that is DIFFERENT! Our city isn't well known for it's dining choices. But Corner Kebab is not only the ONLY Middle Eastern food...but SUPER yummy! I love their luleh, chicken kebab, steak kebab... all were really moist and yummy. The sides were good, but the meat and the falafel (yes, we tried a little of everything) were the focus. I did really like their pita bread too! The eggplant side was Ok, but I guess I was expecting it to be hot and it was served cold. The shirazi (cucumber/tomato salad) was tasty, but not the BEST I have had. But, I was stuffing my face with all of the tasty meat and rice... so, I wasn't focusing on the salad. This is a nice little place and I think it would be perfect for people to get a lunch in a nicer place than a fast food joint... but it's not pretentious or pricey. I will definitely be getting dinner here often, too... Finally a place with a different take out menu in San Fernando! Yippee!!! The guy that owns it is really nice and even gave us the falafel for free because I mentioned how excited I was that they opened this restaurant up in San Fernando. Great local business... Interesting... One of the better Mediterranean places I've been to, and it's a bit more inventive I'd say. I ordered the Gyro plate with some hummus and a cucumber yogurt. The yogurt was just delightful! It was a great dessert. The thing I liked about this place most, food wise, was that everything had a lightness to it and was so well balanced. The seasonings all complimented each other so well without being overpowering and pungent the way some places are. Another note worthy attribute was that I didn't get a tummy ache! Seems like a weird compliment, but I have a sensitive stomach and usually anything with the potential for spice or fat or grease sets it off, but this stuff went down without a hitch. Just shows that it's healthy and cooked well more than anything. The decor was splendid, very quaint and relaxing with a sofa and table if you'd like to relax. There were tvs as well, and the place was not short of it's share of customers without being overcrowded. I would definitely come back. Oh! The reason for the four instead of five was the hummus... I wasn't really feeling it. It lacked a certain pizazz I prefer and seemed a bit heavy on the, um... not sure what it is but some Medi places have a very distinct aroma with their hummus and this one was rich in it, but not garlicy enough. I got the chance to try Corner Kebab last Saturday. We happened to be very close by and we let Yelp guide us. To be honest, I haven't had much Mediterranean before, so I don't have much to compare the meal to. Corner Kebab is located in a big lot where there are other businesses. There was ample parking and it was easy to find. The staff is very kind and the place is incredibly clean. The ambiance is just right, with the exception of a mannequin that gave me the heebie jeebies. They serve bottled drinks like glass-bottled Coca Cola and Snapple. They also have a soda fountain. You order at the counter, which feels a bit pressured because you stand there and stare at all of the options while someone stares back in anticipation for your order. Once you order, you sit down and they bring you your meal. I had a grilled chicken kebab with a side of macaroni salad and a corn salad. I didn't realize it, but it also came with lentil soup and warm pita bread. The lentil soup needed more flavor, so I added pepper and hot sauce. It was nice to have had a starter included in our meals. The kebab came over basmati rice. The rice was a bit dry and not my favorite. The chicken had a good flavor, but it was unfortunately a bit dry, too. I did not care for the macaroni salad because it had a lot of sweetness to it. I think I am used to a bit more of a savory flavored macaroni salad. The corn salad was really good. My guest had the pork kebab with hummus and the cucumber salad. He said the pork was really good, but his rice was not great. I tried some of his hummus and it was fairly standard... I like hummus with a kick. He said his cucumber salad was a bit limp, so he only took a few bites. I think Corner Kebab has the potential to be very delicious. I saw many wonderful salads in the display that I wish I would have picked instead of my macaroni salad. I would come here again for how clean and nice the staff is. LOCATION: This is the only place in San Fernando that serves Mediterranean Food so I have to give them credit just for that fact alone. I hope people continue discover and enjoy this location. PRICE: I have been eating Mediterranean cuisines for quite some time and know how pricey it can be for a quick bite. This place is has just about the most reasonable prices for quality food that I have seen anywhere. TASTE: Their chicken kabob, and ground beef kabob were excellent. I also enjoyed their rice and parsley salad. The only thing that wasn't up to par was the hummus. It wasn't horrible, just not the greatest. SERVICE: The service I experienced was great for the type of small fast food type of place it was. The guy was friendly and brought over whatever we needed with ease. OVERALL: It's the the greatest mediterranean food in the valley but it is a great place to settle the oh so often craving for some good kabob plates. Living in SoCal, you have tons of choices when it comes to Kabob's, but I have yet to find a place like Corner Kabob. I drive quite a distance just to eat there. I love their Chicken kabobs. I have been eating at Zankou Chickens and the Pita Kitchen (in Van Nuys) for years. Thus, I was ecstatic to find this restaurant closer to my home. I was let down harder than Dodgers by Mannywood. Most people will probably judge a kebab place by its hummus. But I figure a good gauge for the quality of food from such establishments is their chicken shwarma. So that's what I ordered. It was disgusting. The chicken was extremely dry and did not have the typical spices I've grown to love. I felt like I was eating dry drumstick meat that was seasoned only with salt and pepper. It definitely did not come close to the quality of meat and taste of Zankou or Pita Kitchen. You get two sides with the plate. So I ordered hummus and their tomato and cucumber salad. The hummus lacked flavor. It tasted like the insta-hummus powder you can buy from grocery stores. In fact, I bet that's what it was. The salad was very tangy and delicious. The pita that was included seemed to have been freshly made there. But these items could not redeem the absence of quality in the other items. Excited when I first got here. Really nice, clean place, the menu looked appetizing. I ordered a Lula Kebab plate with hummus and the tomato and pepper dressing. The service was excellent so this review is about the food. Honestly, the Lula kabob was the most BLANDEST food I think I've ever had. I don't even know if that was actual beef. It was terrible. It needed seasoning!! I didn't even finish it, I threw it out and ate the hummus and tomato and pepper more. I even tried to scoop them WITH the meat and for some reason, this weird "non-beef" taste would come out. Unfortunately, I will NOT be back. This was my first time vist to Corner Kebab today, and it won't be the last! This is a clean and fresh-smelling establishment with a decent-sized dining area. They have been open for two years but the facilities are well-kept and look new. I was the first customer of the day at 11 AM as the front doors were being unlocked, and was greeted cheerfuly by Armond who was engaging and friendly. I had the chicken kebab plate with sides of Salad Shirazi and Must 0 Khiar. The Must 0 Khiar was the best I have had in this style outside of my in-laws home kitchens. It was just garlicy enough with just the right proportion of cucumbers to yougurt. The chicken was moist and cooked just right-no burned edges at all-perfect! The lunch plate came with pita bread and a generous amount of Basmati rice, and with a drink I got out of there for $10.00. A great value for the price! Armond also does catering and I expect that I might use him for upcoming functions based on the outstanding quality of the food. I will review on this page when that happens. read more

Place is okay. Venue is clean and nice. Ordered a gyro wrap and it was smaller than other places I've been to. For the price ($9) I would expect a massive wrap, but I guess not here. It was quite skinny. He taste was also okay. The menu said all wraps and sandwiches come with fries, but when I opened my box (I took to go) there were no fries. Wasn't about to go back and complain as I already left but they should've made sure of that before handing the order off. Service was fast, got my food in less than 10 minutes, and the workers were nice. There's times I've come in and they've been out of certain foods and they always accommodate to help you get what your craving. The service is quick, which is fantastic when you only have one hour for lunch. The prices are very decent, no too high and they give a generous amount of food. Nice to have another Mediterranean restaurant in town but same result in that it's great for a quick fix. However, the better restaurants are 20 minutes away in Burbank/Glendale and Northridge areas. I've tried the chicken kabob plate, beef kabob plate and both were ok. Nothing spectacular but also nothing horribly bad. Both times I've gone, the meat was semi-dry and didn't seem to have much flavor. I'd be open to try it again if it ever came up for our lunch group but I don't think I'd ever bring it up to the group as a recommendation. read more
