First bite..... I instantly text my mother. It's just like she used to make. TASTES LIKE HOME. I implore you to ask for the barbecue sauce and dump it in the dish, their sauce is unique and delicious, it turned this dish up a level. The environment is nice, I love the pictures on the wall. Lola's was a great stop on the way to the Sylmar Discovery Cube. Cute decor. Bright country modern farmhouse feel. I had two small kids with me, so the great service was a standout. Quick to take drink orders and bring kids menus with crayons:) Order: Chorizo burrito - very good, tomatillo not too spicy Strawberry and banana pancakes. These were dense and cakey, but also tasty. The kids loved them and they were filling. Just don't get these if you're hoping for super light and fluffy flapjacks, you'll be disappointed. Kids pancakes looked unappetizing. Did not order. Biscuits and gravy - uneventful, light biscuit, but kinda hard to mess this one up. I saw earlier photos with a lot more sausage and a browner, less white sauce, indicating maybe a recipe change? It's definitely more like a box recipe taste now. Parking is a bit rough out front at brunch time, so prepare to park on a side street and walk a block or two. Finally checked out Lola's kitchen for breakfast. Came in with some friends/ family visiting. It is a smaller place so had to wait about 20-30 mins before being sat. Staff were all very welcoming, easy street parking. We ordered hot chocolates, breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches, and I opted for the biscuits and gravy with eggs. Everything was delicious, I think I would prefer the eggs on the side rather than on top of the biscuits, but either way a good cozy breakfast spot! read more

Nice small town vibe, the decor is attractive yet homey. The wait staff is super friendly and despite being busy thay were most attentive. But I'm certain you want to know about the food. A small, cute cozy small family restaurant in San Fernando on McClay. Our waitress was great, friendly, and attentive. Now, for the food, it was presentable. I ordered a Chicken Club Sandwich. I was given the choice of having the chicken grilled or fried, but I stayed with grilled. The chicken tasted like it was from a package, boiled, and then pan grilled (flavorless). The bread was tasty, buttery thick bread, but oily. I liked that they serve steak fries. My wife ordered the 6 piece fried buffalo wings meal. After dropping off our car for service, we went hunting for food, and Yelp led us straight to Lola's Kitchen. And listen... Lola did not come to play. My husband ordered the Breakfast Burrito, chimichanga style, and all I can say is... magnificent. This thing was LOADED. I've come to Lola's Kitchen three times, and all three times I've had their avocado toast. This is no mediocre meal. They really put heart into their food. The avocado toast comes with a nice fresh slice of tomato, scrambled eggs (over medium), bacon, and cherry tomatoes on the side. The food is prepped and seasoned well. I've had both the home fries and the fruit as a side, both complement the toast well. Their coffee is smooth and strong, which is exactly how I like it. The staff here is friendly. The wait to get my food was never long, and the place is kept clean. There is one restroom, for which there is little to no wait. This place is located in San Fernando, parking can be found along the street and around the building. It was never an issue when coming here. I came her a few years ago and thought it wad good/fine. I recently dined her again and felt totally confused because the food was not good. I got the avocado toast and it was gross. The bread was some roll/chiabatta thin thing. The avocado spread looked and tasted like processed gauc from the grocery store. The bacon tasted like lard (which is a very distinct taste). The egg was good. Even the fruit had a tampico flavor/essence to it which confused me bc isn't fruit just fruit? My Wrap was very good the food was 4/5 for me! The turkey pesto wrap is what I ordered and could have had better seasoning but it was still pretty tasty. We enjoyed it. The pancakes however...weren't the best I've had. They are similar to ihop pancake quality. They tasted as if they were made with basic pancake flour you buy at a grocery store, nothing special or homemade. They were a bit too dry for my taste. We rushed in at 2:45 on Easter Sunday, prepared to be turned away, and were seated immediately. I had previewed the menu online and was prepared to order. I ordered two kids pancake breakfasts, one with turkey bacon ($2 up charge for one strip of turkey bacon) and a featured soy chorizo Mexican Benedict. While I didn't taste my girls' pancakes, I will say they were difficult to cut. The girls seemed to like them and ate well. The first red flag was when I ordered the Soyrizo Benedict and the first response was, "Let me make sure we have Soyrizo". This menu item was my deciding factor for choosing Lola's Kitchen. As it turns out they did have Soyrizo. I understand that we came in late, and that they were doing their closing routine. However, I was with a six and a seven-year-old girl and one of them needed to use the restroom. When I inquired about the restroom, I was told the restroom had already been cleaned. I was very accommodating and used the restroom at another restaurant in the complex, but in hindsight, I was still the customer in your restaurant and I needed the restroom. Everything we had was great! The service was great too. My party of 7 went in on a Tuesday, around 5:30pm. As we were there, we were told kids eat free with every adult meal purchased. Adult meals, we got the following: fried chicken, steak, pulled pork, and bourbon chicken. I really enjoyed my bourbon chicken plate. The sauce on it was creamy and had slices of mushroom. The chicken was breaded and fried. It was a delicious bite! I tried a piece of the pulled pork, I think that was luck luster. Overall, the food was great! The service was nice. I didn't catch her name, but the server was attentive and made sure our drinks were filled. Parking can get tricky, but since we got there earlier in the evening, parking wasn't too bad. Dropped off my car at Galpin Honda and wanted to take a walk since it was a beautiful morning after a night of heavy rain. I found Lola's on yelp. It was far enough for a nice 30 minute stroll yet close enough to get back in time to pick up my car. The inside was very cozy and inviting. The staff was friendly and brought my coffee right away. As I reached for a creamer, I took a sip and had to put down the tiny tub of half & half. The coffee was so good as is that I didn't want to ruin it by anything else. I'm no coffee connoisseur but I can tell good coffee from bad and the coffee here was amazingly good. I looked around to ask the staff what kind it was and I saw a plaque on the wall for "GroondWork" coffee. I might have this brand once before but I will make sure I'll look for them more in the future. The food was great too but I was very impressed that Lola's didn't skimp on the coffee. read more
