We were looking for a safe, friendly bar on Bourbon St. when we stumbled upon Café Lafitte. We were greeted by Chasen with a friendly hello. He was an amazing bartender, who was very attentive and engaging to his guests! He and side kick David were kind, fun and ran circles around the bar keeping drinks filled and the bar clean! Little did we know, they eould be having their weekly napkin tossing disco party, held every Sunday night. It was an absolute blast! Thank you Chasen, for making these out-of-towners feel welcome. We would recommend Cafe' Lafitte and cant wait to visit again!

You have to come here when Nicholas is working. He created a peach drink that is amazing! I had three of them, and I'll come back for more! This place had chill vibes and is LGBTQ+ friendly. If you go to Bourbon Street, you have to come here!

Who knew there were 2 Lafitte? Not sure if they are related. But so much fun. Cold drinks and air conditioning was a must and they did not disappoint.

Loved the bartenders here. Kevin and the boys were hilarious. So bummed I missed the napkin toss on Christmas night. Ha! Oldest gay bar in the country. Cool vibe. And right across the street is a diner with yummy biscuits and gravy. Great people watching bar

Hands down the best bar in New Orleans! I spent literally every night into the wee hours of the morning here on my recent trip to New Orleans. When I tell you that every need was catered to I'm not exaggerating! The first evening I was there after chatting with Jeremy and Otis the bartenders as well as TJ who works the front door they came to my rescue when a local started harassing me. The three of them were literally my knights in shining armor!! What a historic place, it is iconic in queer history. I have grown quite fond of my three nights in shining armor! In fact I am returning for Thanksgiving to host Thanksgiving Dinner!

Loved the tea dance back in the day. Used to get a big kick out of the dancers in here. They rarely disappoint.

The bartenders were young, and the only business we saw consisted of drunk women who looked like they made a wrong turn off Bourbon Street. 8PM may have been too early to expect a congregation of social sisters.. No Espresso Martinis to be found here, so we went with our standby, the $12 Tequila Sunrises (Photo 5). They were satisfying enough. Not much interaction with the bartenders who preferred socializing with each other. Ah, youth. We'll give it another try the next time we're in Nawlins, but The Golden Lantern was a friendlier spot. Whenever I pass by there are always locals sitting at a table outside chatting it up - even early in the morning. I was in town for Southern Decadence and decided to finally check it out. I was surprised by how spacious it is inside. There is even an upstairs area with a bar (Queens Head Pub) and balcony views. Downstairs there is a pool table, gambling machines, and plenty of room to dance. The bartender was very friendly. I asked if they had a signature drink and he told me that The Separator has been a favorite for over 20 years. I decided to try it. It was a boozy milkshake that made me feel like a kid again. I can see why they call it The Separator because if you drink enough of it, you'll get separated from your friends. LOL! I came back later that evening and the place was buzzin' with a fun & lively crew. I enjoyed the music and was happy I stopped by.

Walking in at 1:30 on a beautifully sunny Wed, we fully expected a wait. Instead, our two empty seats beckoned to us like a pretty girl winking at us across a bar in college. Marvin has been promoted to Beverage Manager. He left his bar in very good hands. The two young dudes carrying his torch were great. Very friendly and well aware each time we finished our drink and needed a reload. They're well-trained in the art of concocting the Sazerac we love. Sitting for 2 hours watching the regular turnover of the precious seats at the Carousel is still big fun. And having a friendly chat with the constant turnover of strangers sitting next to us is part of the unique charm of the Carousel Bar. As we were leaving Corey the bartender let us know management is shutting down next month for a few weeks for much needed repairs & renovations so the Carousel can add another 50-60 years to its legacy.

The cocktail list looked interesting, but the two we had tasted pretty standard, inline with what you'd expect from a hotel bar (it is inside Hotel Monteleone). There is a small bar bites menu - the Cubano was tasty but a bit overpriced at $18. The service was okay. We ended up getting water from our server that brought us food as the bartenders were too busy making cocktails. There was a jazz band playing on Thursday night when we visited.
