Beware of meeting Mr. McGruff behind the counter. First said there was no diagnostic fee, then was going to charge my friend one. They argued over phone and McGruff hung up on him.. Later, I went up there with my friend because I had been a customer for years. My friend, BTW, was a young Chinese man. When I went in, Mr. McGruff, pretty much aggressively scratched out one fee and slammed the bail down on the counter at my friend. Then, when my friend went to say something else, McGruff told him he could go. They didn't want his business!!In the meantime, the owner was in his little office around the corner and knew I was out there and did not bother to get up and come out to find out what the real problem was. Personally, I don't want to do business with Customer Service like that. Won't be going back, neither will my friend. We went up to PRESTIGE Automotive just around the corner and they had his car ready to go by 3 o'clock in the afternoon! Plus, he didn't have to pay the diagnostic fee! read more

Horrible mechanics - took my car there on Monday for my check engine light for them to tell me they cannot find anything and they reset the light. Literally the next day my car doesn't start and I take it back. Three days later the check engine light comes on again for the same code so I take it to a real mechanic and have them fix it. AMAZING Service! We were just out of San Angelo, TX, on our way to San Antonio when the truck's A/C quit. Ugh! It was a hot, sunny, mid-September day. Driving too fast on I-10 for open windows to be comfortable for long, using the fan on full blast, and after about 30 minutes the dog in the back seat began to stink. I did a Yelp search for AC repairs in San Antonio. Several had "request quote" options; i requested quotes, knowing that they couldn't really give one based on my description of the problem, but i was hoping for a timeframe when they could get us an appt. No joy after an hour. I noticed one vendor was really close to my dad's house in San Antonio, so i gave them i call. Bless the man! He heard my predicament and squeezed us into his schedule that afternoon-- with no promises for an immediate fix... which i didn't expect since we didn't know what the problem was. We arrived, Husband drops me off with the stinky dog at my dad's, and goes on into the shop. They chatted about the issue, Husband waited while they investigated, and a solution was presented within 30 minutes. Husband agreed to the fix (a fried washer was letting freon leak) and he was back to the house 1/2 hour later. If we had been pressing onto Houston that night, we would have made it since the appt and repair were so quick! Bonus: Scout! I was vacationing FL with my car and had something called catastrophic failure where my engine just quit. I bought it at Cornerstone KIA but had it towed to a FL dealer. They told me they had to check with KIA to see what they would do under the warranty. Thy were not getting back to me, so I called Melina at Cornerstone and within 2 min she looked up my warranty and assured me it was covered, and that they should know this based on ! She offered to contact them directly if needed, or if we received different info from the other KIA dealer. She of course was correct and they fixed the vehicle under warranty. My wife was told by the dealership that she needed new rear brakes. I called Cornerstone because they are close to home, provided the info on the car, and dropped the car off the next morning. Since I live nearby, they were nice enough to give me a ride home (I work from home). I got a call about an hour or two later from the shop manager informing me that the brakes are not only good, but nowhere near needing replacement. I would have known no different had they just replaced the brakes and billed me. It's hard to find this kind of honesty these days. Needless to say, we will return here, rather than the dealership from now on. They even found the nails in one of our tires, confirmed with me that we had purchased the tires at Discount tire (three businesses down the street) and took the car there for me to get the tire repaired under the road hazard warranty. I have been going to these guys for 2 years to do both typical repairs and so major repairs and every time I have found them honest and reliable. Two repairs they DID NOT CHARGE me for because they said the parts (spark plug and a fuel line seal) where "part fails" that should not have fail and sent them back to the manufacturer and then replace the parts with no charge of new parts OR labor. I would highly recommend these guys. I was surprised to see some negative reviews and so had a look at them and they seem to be people who had unrealistic expectations on time and prices, none complained about the quality of work. Called ahead, needed headlight replaced before nightfall, as it is a legal requirement. Spoke with Michael. Yes, they could do it. He even gave me a few dollars off his original quote. Got oil change, headlight replaced, and inspection done. I didn't know the inspection could be done up to 90 days ahead of time!!!!! They didn't try to "convince" me to get it done, just notified me and respected my decision. Need a new air hose, but they showed me the old one, which even I could tell isn't working right. Will go back mid week for that as it was not in stock. The waiting room is not super delux, a light bulb was out, no vending machine, etc. But, it was very useable. I prefer they take their time with my car instead of jazzing up the waiting room. Both "counter" people were nice and knowedgeable. As I was in the waiting room, I heard their interactions with new customers and those picking up vehicles. I was pleased with the service on my car as well as the customer service. And, they have the sweetest German Shepard! Might be a little scary for some young kids as he's so big, but super friendly and won't hurt anyone. So, we have a bit of a junker (bad year Subaru, with 150,000+ miles on it). Like parts of panels have come off (on their own) and are held on with duck tape because I'm trying to wring a few more months out of the car before we buy a new one. When we moved across town I was a little concerned with finding another great repair place. Because we only have one car, it can get a little tricky to drop off/get work done without suddenly being stranded. The guys at Cornerstone Automotive are great! They have seen us four or five times in the last two months (not on them- the car had 150,000 mile part replacement time staggered out- when the brakes pads grind down you don't wait). Anyway, for one, they are really great about getting us where we need to go- either a ride home while they keep the car for the day OR (and this is the best part EVER) a $20 day rental car. Did you see that? An automotive place as their own personal $20 day rentals. I've had other automotive places drive me to a real rental car agency (with real rental car agency prices of $35-40 a day) so I was shocked and excited when I would get my brakes fixed AND go to work and not be broke! They do get busy because they are a solid, dependable, honest company. Call ahead if it isn't an emergency. If it seems like an emergency (ahem, my brakes are making the crunchy death knell of done brake pads) show up at 7 am when they open and they can usually squeeze you in. read more

Very disappointed when I called and left a message (as no one answered my call) regarding a 1973 ford pickup. Never received a call back, so I finally called back again and the man that answered begins to make an excuse why no one called me back and then tells me that "our boss won't allow us to work on old vehicles because we hook up our vehicles to an electronic device to help us diagnose the vehicle".
