I had locked my keys and phone in my car and usaa would not send roadside assistance because I didn't have my phone ( I had borrowed someone's to make the call). So I was in quite the situation. I had been to Vollmer's to get my car inspected earlier in the year and had a very good experience with that. So I decided I'd go ask if they could help me. They didn't hesitate one second and said they'd be a few minutes and be right over. Ten minutes later I was on my way! Vollmers to the rescue! Vollmer's is absolutely great. Very fair, but most importantly very honest! My girlfriend and her family has been going to them for everything other than their diesel truck maintenance for a LONG time. I have always been skeptical and guarded with mechanics after being taken advantage of by other mechanics, but these guys are straight forward, and just an absolute joy to deal with. No games, no bull. It's really refreshing anytime I go in there because I feel that they are not just looking to take advantage of you like many other shops out there. I've been here a few times before when I was living nearby, but just recently moved further out of San Antonio. I was debating finding a new mechanic closer to my new location but it's hard to find a good mechanic you trust. I couldn't stop thinking about how great Dominic has been in the past so I decided to figure out a time to make the distance work. I'm glad I did and took the shot to come out before I have to go on a road trip this weekend. Dominic took a look at my car and made sure I'd be okay for the trip. Every time I come, it's always a comfortable experience and easy to talk to him despite my poor knowledge of cars. I use to think Vollmer was a brand specific service center, but I was wrong. This was a good thing, when I called them to get some body work done on my newly jacked up truck (Stupid concrete wall that came out of no where). The staff handled everything with my insurance company and called to let me know that. They also performed some routine maintenance on it while they waited for the insurance adjusters, which in the long run saved me time so it was worth any extra money. I've taken my car to several other places for oil changes and there always seems to be some kind of $1,000+ work that needs to be done. At Vollmer, I was told my car was running fine for a 7 year old and if I needed anything at all to be sure to come back. I plan on it. They offer plenty of standard services, body work, paint jobs and offer shuttle service. read more

Straight up the best auto repair shop in San Antonio. Their staff emphasizes great customer service and professionalism. They have a comfortable and roomy waiting room but if you're in a hurry they do offer shuttle transportation. They're fast and diligent. I've had my A/C compressor and keyless door feature replaced on my 2012 BMW here. Both times, I didn't have any issue or reason to complain. The fellas at Vollmer Service Center are A1, they're experienced in all automobile repairs, bumper to bumper. I recommend them to anyone who has a vehicle. read more

My family has been using Vollmer for decades, Vern Vollmer is an amazingly friendly and honest man, and Dominic the manager is the same. I have never had issues with any of repairs that they have made on any of my vehicles over the years and have bought 3 vehicles from Vern over the years. They service all makes and models and while they are not the cheapest mechanics in town they are completely worth it, as the old saying goes: You get what you pay for. At Vollmer's that means quality work and good parts. To look at the range of cars they work on these are cars that me or my family has had serviced and repaired there over the years: '73 Duster, '73 Impala, 92' Toyota Pickup, '96 Camry, 2001 Highlander, 2006 Tacoma, 2009 Sienna, 2003 Mercedes. If has wheels and a motor they will repair it to better than new! read more

We have owned quite a few vehicles and I wish we would have known about Vollmer Automotive many years ago. Dominic and his company came highly recommended by a mutual friend two years ago. Since then, we have taken all of our vehicles to Vollmer from the smallest of maintenance to major repairs. We have foreign & domestic vehicles e.g. Audi, Volvo, Ford, Lincoln, Toyota, etc. And each time, we have been completely satisfied with their honesty, details in explaining the problem, the repairs but especially in their fair pricing. We would HIGHLY recommend VOLLMER Service Center. We travel over 75 miles from the Northside of San Antonio just to bring our vehicles here. Don't expect their services to be quick and out the door within a few hours, they are usually backed up for days because they are always extremely busy; however, that says A LOT about how reputable and established the company is throughout the area! Be prepared to schedule an appointment a few days in advance, but it is WELL WORTH THE WAIT! read more

Great Service , Honest and reasonable . What more can you ask for !!!

Pros: They are friendly, and can get to your car in a jiffy. Cons: yep, that they are. Got a quote for a repair from them for $460 (oil pan replacement--I didn't ask for a platinum one). Called the dealer and they would do it for $400. Not sure who Vollmer is getting their parts from, but either they are getting ripped off, or they are ripping off their customers. Either way, I can find better places to go. I can't say that I was impressed. They were very courteous though... read more
