This is the first time I have ever been to this location. It is a nice place and has a great menu and the Greek Gyro and basil tomato soup I had were absolutely phenomenal! I was disappointed that the line to order was so long and the associate waiting on customers was also having to answer the phone and take orders by phone. I thought that someone else should be handling that since we took the time to make the drive to the restaurant and should've been waited on before a phone call. It did take quite a while for me to get my food and two different people had to go to the back to check. Very good, fresh sandwiches that I ordered today, a BLT and a Tucumcari Turkey Sandwich. The BLT was standard, nothing out of the ordinary, but still pretty good; the accompanying Hatch Potato Soup was amazing. Had a bit of a kickback to it, so be careful if you don't like heat! When my parents lived in Alamogordo we used to go to this bakery often. They enjoy having fresh baked goods on hand and my dad was a fan of their breakfast. I always ordered the Rio Rancho Huevos Rancheros with green chile sauce under their New Mexican specialties. The green chile sauce was a nice change from the Tex Mex style huevos rancheros I'm used to. Their portions were always hefty and the food was consistent. My only warning is be prepared to wait. The line for the bakery gets long. The wait for a table can be long. And even though you may get sat at a table, service may take forever (my main reason for deducting a star). Very very impressed! I would eat here everyday if I could. Lots of outdoor heated seating and indoor seating, please be ready to order as soon as you walk through the door. If you're visiting Ruidoso, this place is a must visit for breakfast or lunch. I ordered their "Placitas Platter". It came with three fresh large eggs, applewood smoked bacon, and two pieces of French toast, and pan-fried rosemary potatoes ($12.00). I also had their New Mexico Piñon Coffee. Seating is arranged in their newly constructed outdoor covered patio. Their are multiple propane heaters along the outside walls, electric overhead heating units along the walls of the permanent structure, and a gas fireplace at the far end, which guarantees one a nice warm, cozy meal. On a sunny 45 degrees morning, it was very comfortable seating. The food rolled out within 10 minutes of ordering. It was fresh and hot off the griddle. The eggs were super, the bacon wonderful, and the French toast delicious (almost pastry like). I love that they bring the coffee out with a filled carafe ( super coffee drinkers like myself appreciate this :)). BTW, the coffee was great! The owner came by to check on us and also I noticed him checking on every table. It was obvious he loved his business and wanted to make sure all of his customers were enjoying their meal and their experience. I easily give this place 5 Stars. It was a more unique breakfast experience than most places offer, which was pretty neat! The menu is on display outside so you can be ready to order when you get to the counter inside. When you walk in, there are display cases of pastries and cheesecakes next to the counter where you order, an indoor dining area, and a little gift shop area to shop in while you wait for your food. Their outdoor patio section is great- it has a fire and heaters and is covered on the side and overhead. My husband got an omelet and I got one of their scramblers, and we both got a mimosa as well as coffee. They offer 4 flavors of mimosas (i ordered the mango orange- it was delicious!), and you can choose your wine type- moscato (sweet), Prosecco (medium), or brut (dry). Wanted to start our first morning in Ruidoso with a bang; chose this joint because of their epic reviews. Unfortunately, we left somewhat disappointed. First, the good. 1. Their system of ordering and seating people is efficient. Tables are only assigned once you've ordered. There is no " grabbing a table while others stand in line" shortcut. Although they should probably add signage explaining the process, wait staff was good at enforcing their system; 2. Service, in general, was friendly and good; 3. The food came out relatively quickly; 4. Their medium roast coffee was outstanding; and 5. The ambiance is great. Unfortunately, 1. The food (my wife and I both had omelets) was bland. Both of us added salt and pepper (and I salt NOTHING); 2. The "pan fried rosemary potatoes" had NO ROSEMARY; 3. The $8.50 waffle was no where near worth the money. It looked nothing like photos online (website or other Yelp reviews). It was over cooked and crunchy; and 4. Their "flavored syrups " were MIA. Wait staff delivered our waffle with a small, single serve maple syrup. Then, when we asked about the butter pecan syrup...well let's just say the listed syrups weren't available...; and lastly, 5. We were disappointed in the signage at our table which connected server income and gratuity. Gratuity should be based on good service, not a sign admitting you pay your servers shit ...shaming customers to make sure you tip them well so they can afford to live... Okay... so finally get to order. The prices change apparently after you order. The menu right in front of the register has a price if $11.25 for our club, and then they don't charge you that price. They charge you more $12.00 than the listed price by then we are at our table with our ticket waiting for our food. We talk to the sever and she says inflation. We call over the manager who parrots the same inflation song and dance. The accountant pushes the point and the manager concedes. Oh wait it gets better. I pay my bill cash and the total is rounded up so that I don't receive my accurate change. No coins. So you get to keep my change because? Both of these are examples of theft and fraud! We decided to try this restaurant on recommendations of other people we know wh have eaten here. The variety on the menu was large but hard to read because of the way it was organized. Also, their system of how you enter the restaurant, find your way to the front counter to order, get seated and they pay when you leave was not intuitive. A wonderful breakfast gem in the heart of Ruidoso. I loved the whole seating system here. There was a long line going out the front door, which is always a good sign! There are two large menus to look at while you're waiting because you order once you get to the front then you're seated at your table. Everything is paid for including the tip before you sit down. Which means you can leave as soon as you're done with your meal. So efficient and smart. The customer service was excellent. Very attentive and friendly. The interior of the place itself was cozy and has an open layout. There's a patio outside that's decorated nicely. Ample seating inside and outside. Everything we ordered was delicious. Please do yourself a favor and order the Sunrise Muffin. It is to die for. There's hints of cinnamon and carrot cake in it. It's especially good with the icing on the side.
