This is the family's absolute favorite place to get breakfast whenever we're in town. Definitely worth the stop in Dunsmuir if you're passing through or going skiing. Omelets, scrambles, breaded fish and pancakes fill the menu. My favorite is a scramble with sausage and jalapeños. read more

I've been to Cornerstone more than any other restaurant in the area. Sunday morning brunch is my favorite. I love that I can skip the potatoes and get spinach instead. Of course, I steal a few potatoes from my partner. They always accommodate my picky kids. And I've been here when they've been packed and I've been there when they've been quiet. The level of service is always consistent, and good. Food is always delicious. It's my go-to breakfast place in the area. read more

We had the California omelette this morning and it was fabulous ! I added hatch chiles and hub added meat-we were both extremely impressed. Mine was just spicy enough, eggs were cooked perfectly and the avocado was at the perfect ripeness. We heard about the origin of dunsmuir's great water, and enjoyed fish themed artwork on the walls. Service was efficient and friendly-they worked together as a team. I can't imagine driving by on I-5 and not stopping at Cornerstone Cafe. read more

Our waitress tried to fake being nice but she was possibly offended by some innocuous comments we made or possibly by the request to have the food done in a special way, as I have food allergies to consider. Although the portion was large and more than substantial, the poached eggs were over-cooked and the the hollandaise sauce wasn't smooth, rather it had coagulated so the plate wasn't very appetizing looking. My boyfriend claimed his potatoes tasted as though they had been cooked the previous day and then re-heated on the grill. The hollandaise sauce which should have been more flavorful as it included cilantro and tomato was flavorless. The hash browns I asked for crispy were cooked regular, not crispy at all. The mimosa was good but the base of champagne was overly sweet to begin with so I'm glad I asked for it to be light orange juice or it would've been an overly sweet syrupy mess. Nice atmosphere and a lot of potential. I understand the restaurant is changing hands. Maybe the new owners will put a little more effort into upping the quality of the food and also to consider more gluten free options. Most of the time, buckwheat pancakes are gluten free as the restaurant just down the street does a great job at this, but not considered at all by this establishment. Not impressed. 2 Stars-the food didn't taste bad and the hostess was very sweet. read more

Very POOR service. After we checked in we had to wait a very long time. They sat other parties (smaller, larger and the same size (6 people) as ours) before us. People that came in after us were served their food and finished before we received ours. We had to wait for over an hour for our food!!!!! When I asked to speak with the manager I was told that she was busy. I had to insist on speaking with the manager. When the manager came out all she had to say was an order must have gotten mixed up. I can understand one order but not 4 to 5! She then offered to reduce the amount of the bill by taking off our drinks - 1 mild, sprite and orange juice that wasn't good. I told her that she needed to do better and possibly comp the entire bill. When the bill did come the manager didn't take a thing off. Very poor service and I'll never go back there again. Fantastic gem. They were able to accommodate our group of 12 for breakfast despite being short-staffed - the waitstaff was super friendly and attentive. Food was delicious, especially the bacon... really amazing bacon! Go for the bacon! Our group had a variety of omelettes and the french toast, and all was fresh and tasty. My husband had the smoked salmon bagel and it was a scrumptious combo of flavors: cold-smoked salmon, cream cheese, tomato, red onion, and the fantastic addition of fresh pesto on the schmear. Really yummy and a hearty portion. Ownership has changed recently, and I'm excited to return to sample the other fare. I loved how everyone in the restaurant seemed to know each other, really a comforting, small town feel. read more

YUM! Ate here when we were staying at the Railroad Park Resort. The space has lots of light and warm colors, the perfect ambiance for brunch. They gave my son the red carpet treatment! The food was delicious and service outstanding. Although I couldn't spend this day with my son, Deb and her staff allowed me to be a part of it with all their help in organizing and planning this surprise. I am forever grateful. I really was excited to try this place after reading the other reviews. We were on the road trip from hell from San Diego to Washington and were in need of some grub on the way. Since there's really not much in this area, we decided to stop here thinking it wouldn't be so busy. We get seated and wait for a good 10 mins for us to get the menus. We were in a hurry since it was going to be a full day of driving, so that peeved me. Clearly if you are in the middle of nowhere, you aren't in a hurry. Anyway after getting our menus. it wasn't til another ten minutes until the waitress come over to take our order. We ordered the Mexican Scramble which was pretty decent, and something else that clearly wasn't memorable. Overall this place is just alright. It has a cute small town charm, but the service sucks, and the prices are ridiculous. The prices at IHOP are even better, with the same kind of food. Next time I will pass. read more

Ate lunch here on our to Oregon with the family. Danielle is super nice and treated our boys very well, especially the little grumpy one. The food was surprisingly delicious! The boys loved the homemade clam chowder and asked for the recipe. One even said "this is the best hamburger I've ever eaten" (7yr old). The best surprise is the "grilled" salad. They have very good sandwiches and burgers.. We had their Portobello mushroom and Nutty veggie and both were awesome, very creative also. We also ordered their Strawberry shortcake which was big disappointment - plain stale cake with strawberry and whip cream on the side. Overall good food, skip the desert. Since new ownership, the service AND the food is less than tolerable. How do you screw up French fries? They tasted as if they were a day old and reheated in an oven. It was like chewing on a brick. Bleh! Service from our waitress was minimal with no attitude, very dull. Especially after learning the hostess that was there with previous owners was sent to the kitchen since she had 'no personality '! Really ?? Will not recommend to anyone. Sad, since this used to be our favorite place to go, personally and professionally (office lunch meetings). Only wish I could put a minus in front of that one star ! read more

Driving from Silicon Valley to Oregon for a family reunion. Stopped randomly at this quaint little cafe. The food was awesome and so fresh! I'm a vegetarian and they had great sandwiches, plus a pretty decent kids menu! If you go, get a meal with the French fries... Dare I say, I think they are better then in-n-out burger fries!
