Absolutely loved this place! If you have been to Cornwall, Devon, etc. you know a good pasty. This menu is right up there with the best. WELL worth a visit. I had the beet salad, cheese and onion pasty and oven fries. Holy wow one of the best meals have had in Flagstaff in my 22 years as a resident. Great atmosphere, fantastic and large menu, knowledgeable staff, wonderful service, neat venue and ambiance (we went in evening), superb bartender, tons of vegetarian options along with the traditional meat pasties and pies. The food was great but the service was complete crap. Both waitresses were extremely rude and disrespectful, and though I understand having horrible customers, their inability to remain professional with the other customers who are nice and just trying to order a decent meal, made me want to walkout and not pay my bill. Additionally, I would totally understand why my scoop of vanilla ice cream took over 15mins to get to me, if the restaurant was packed, but there were probably only about 10 people in the restaurant, so, the slow service was unnecessary. I like Pasty(s). I grew up eating them and enjoy the pasty-centric gastronomic tour one can take in the upper peninsula of Michigan. Like most simple foods, getting the basics right is essential. A classic pasty consists of beef(generally tenderized round), sliced potatoes, plenty of sliced onion and a smattering of carrots and rutabaga seasoned with salt and pepper and wrapped in savory pastry. Generally, some butter is added as well. After baking, the pasty filling is infused with an onion, butter and peppery flavor. There are many who do pasty right but many who get it wrong. The pasty at this restaurant is composed of a delightful crust filled with mashed potatoes, meat and various vegetables. It is more like a tasteless, textureless shepherds pie than a pasty. But, I would not dismiss this restaurant based on my review. They offer a wide variety of fillings many of which might be excellent, but if you want a genuine pasty, I would give this place a hard pass. read more

Great place! 1) it's rad inside. Just walking in I was 90% sure I'd love it - cool wallpaper, multiple types of seating including really neat long tables with pew benches. 2) service as great - our server was kind, helpful, and attentive. He was able to answer my questions about the restaurant and history. Cool. 3) food was great, and reasonably priced. About $9-12 for a meal, and the portions are enough that you can get away satisfied with just a single pasty, but the sides, apps, and desserts all sounded great. I got the original pasty, the Oggie, and my wife got the Guinness stew pasty - both were great. That crust... so good. Meat inside was quality meat not scraps. We also shared a side of curried potatoes that was really good - inside the mound of potatoes was a creamy sauce/seasoning that was really, really great. So happy there's another cool place downtown that can offer nicer night out in Flagstaff for those of us that can only eat out once in a while, and only if the price stays down. read more

The establishment was very dark. We ordered prepared pasties and waited the twenty minutes listening to music. The music was pleasant:but too loud for conversation honestly. Cool design for an eatery with open ceilings and rustic feel. While the quality of the pasty was excellent; crust& flavor, the potatoes were not done. Gonna try again, but disappointed a bit. We were able to sit on their back patio with our dog and had a wonderful experience! Our server was extremely busy but still managed to take great care of us and made our dining experience very relaxed and welcoming! I didn't get her name, our server, but she is a champ, we really appreciated her positive attitude. This location is beautiful and the food was great! We will definitely return whenever in town. Stopped by during a road trip. I got the guineas stew vegan pasty. It was super delicious and full of flavor and moisture. I highly recommend. I didn't even miss the meat. I got the OG for a child and they ate the whole thing. Another person in my party got the regular Guiness stew which they usually get when they visit. Super yummy food. I really love this place but have always had qualms with the service. The food is great, free pool is awesome, draft selection is good, and dog friendliness is really cool. Don't trust their hours. They close at 9:3, not 10:00 PM. If you show up after 9:30 you're out of luck.

One star due to service Sadly I'm leaving 1 star due to our "waitress". Walking in the door at 9:00pm a sign waist high said "please seat yourself". The 3 of us sat at a high top table. I believe it had 6 chairs but two friends would be showing up around 9:15. The waitress walked over and said "if you expect continues service you will need to order food". I was not sure how to react to this because never have I been told this before. I know I wanted drinks and all of us had talked about ordering food. She made it very confusing as to what I should do in-order to get a drink. "Do I order a beer with the waitress who will not give me continuous service if no food is ordered? or do I go to the bar and order my beer in case no food at our table is ordered which could result in 2 open tabs?" This actually caused an argument between the 3 of us because we all had different ideas on how and where to get our drinks. So in the first 10min of being at this place we had gone from "going out and having a nice night in flagstaff" to "our waitress making us all feel as if we were inconveniencing her by just being there". One of us out of sheer pressure just said "we will order food" as the waitress was walking away. She came back with menus, dropped them on the table and walked away without asking if we would like anything to drink. At that point I didn't care if I had 2 open tabs I wanted a beer. I opened a tab at the bar and also had food with the waitress. Bottom line dont let your customers seat themselves if for some reason your establishment has "food tables" and or "drink tables" and WELCOME YOUR CUSTOMERS. The waitress is there to serve us and the table we sit at is ours until we leave. read more

Between the seven of us, we tried a variety of Pasties and all of them were great! The Greek Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo, and the Shepherd's Pie were our favorites! The flavors were awesome, and everything was cooked perfectly. It was half off cans and bottles on Tuesday night, which was awesome. Server was very kind and courteous, very attentive. Now, as for the atmosphere, if you're looking for an atypical, rad, low-key restaurant to hang out, this is your place! Unique menu, dark ages decor and good music- food was decent- tandoori wings are a surprising twist.... salads are fresh and delicious but let's talk about their main dish the Cornish pasty.... seems like they are prepared somewhere else, frozen then heated up when we order.
