My wife and I ate here on a whim and wow, what a gem in Flagstaff! Possibly our favorite place in town to date. It has a cozy and cute interior, with a great view of the chefs at work if you sit at the bar. What made shift standout to us were their creative flavor combinations. On paper, we just had a salad pork chop and fish. But their flavors really made those dishes stand out! The blood orange sauce complimented the pork chop (which was cooked perfectly) so well. The fish was definitely more Asian inspired with bok choy and a soy based sauce. It was perhaps a touch salty for me but the flavors were good. The dessert was awesome. It was described as a bite of fall. Between the wine soaked pears, nuts, and the pumpkin mousse, I honestly can't think of a better description. If youre in town, shift on over here and give this place a try

Heard so much about this place. Highly recommend making a reservation as this place is really not big at all. Me and the wife are celebrating our wedding in Flagstaff and upon sitting us down we were greeted by a congratulations card signed by everyone working that night! They also gave us a complimentary mocktail after noticing we didn't order alcohol which was a nice treat. The setting is really cozy and intimate - you can see literally over the counter the 4 chefs making the food in a very small open area. Shift is unique I believe they change their menu everyday or week or something like that so what I had is probably not guaranteed to be back when you visit, but this is what we ordered. Dill brined French fries Pork chop with roman date sauce and citrus supreme with arugula mint salad Bavette Steak Poached pear and grapefruit sorbet Everything was a certified banger. And shift I think their intention is to really make you think about what you're eating and shift expectations . They wowed me and my wife every plate. I want to call out specifically the pork chop. I never would think a date sauce and citrus surpreme would pair too well with porkchops. I know a lot of people can put like molasses or sweeter sauces but they leaned really into that but it wasn't too sweet or overbearing. Same with the dill brined French fries. No overbearing dill flavor but you can definitely taste it and wonder hmm how's this work why's this so good? I truly loved this place. If you're in Flagstaff it is a pricier option - it's a tapas restaurant technically so multiple small plates will be needed to make you full - so after skiing could add up quite a bit. But this might be the best food I've had in Arizona so far. Service was excellent, food phenomenal.

Shift is a fun upscale tapas style restaurant. Very cool to watch the chefs cook in the open style kitchen. Fresh local ingredients, flavorful food and great service. My favorite dish we tried was the porkchop. We were celebrating an anniversary and they offered us complimentary champagne or dessert which was very thoughtful. I do wish they had more than one small bathroom.

We would have given Shift a 5, but the seating in the back booth-style area was uncomfortable. Everything else was great. I recommend doing the chef's tasting menu if it's your first time. The food was amazing, especially the duck tacos. Service was very good too, but I do wish our server had shown us the wine bottles during the pairing. We would have loved to take pictures and know what wines we were having so we could order them in the future.

The food is amazing quality. The roasted cabbage has a very flavorful pistachio vibe. The pork chop was incredible.

We stopped in for some bites and a drink before a concert, and overall I would give this establishment a 3.8 We enjoyed the fries and brussel sprouts from the appetizer section, and also tried the mushroom pasta. We also ordered the special cocktail of the day, a passion fruit margarita. This is a nice restaurant and would be a good place for happy hour. We liked the fries and sprouts, but found the pasta to be a small portion for a really high price and would not likely order a main entree here again. The best part of the meal was the savory basil and goat cheese sorbet, which was inventive and a fair price for what it was. The drinks were strong and service was good. But unfortunately I think this place is a bit overpriced for what you get and in comparison to other options in Flagstaff.

While staying the night in Flagstaff as a stopover, my hubs & I tried this place!! It was my birthday and I wanted to go somewhere casual, yet eloquent, with a unique vibe and good food, Nailed it! I wish I had taken pics of everything we ate but I was enjoying my meal too much. From my bread appitser to my Halibut; everything tasted good! Nothing was fishy or stale. If I am ever in Flagstaff again, I will definitely go there!! Highly recommend, enjoy!!

Small, cute spot with great staff! Super unique menu, so many flavors. I personally loved everything I had, my husband thought there was a little too much going on flavor wise (namely with the rabbit and the special custard pie dessert). I thought it was a lot but unique and complex and new so I really enjoyed ! The foie Gras was insane !!! Would definitely come back to try more things!

A quaint little spot in DT Flagstaff. The dishes are intended to be shared amongst the table so we ordered a little bit of everything. Everything contained an elevated flavor profile that you won't typically see in a modern American restaurant. If you're looking for a unique dining experience this is the spot to try!

The food was very good. The venue is cute. It was a busy week night. Not too pleased with the service, waitress not so friendly but oddly the food for my friend arrived a good twenty minutes later than mine. I'd return because of the delicious dishes.

I was really excited to order form this place based on the reviews but was quickly disappointed. My ToGo order arrived without any utensils, so by the time I was able to fetch some from the front desk of the hotel and made it back to my room the food was already cold and not enjoyable. Then there is this giant piece of bread... I mean seriously, what am I supposed to do with this cold hard piece of bread that came with no butter or anything else to enjoy it with. So disappointed and sad.. I am a bread lover but this was a disappointment

This has got to be one of the most delicious meals we've ever had! Absolutely everything we ate was a 10/10! We started with the Crispy Brussels, which were just a perfect portion for sharing. Drizzled in aleppo honey and tiny chunks of Humboldt Fog cheese (a goat cheese that tastes similar to Blue cheese with a texture like Brie), this concoction just melted in ones mouth! Next for our main dishes, I had the Sacchetti Pasta. Four perfect little pouches of pasta filled with parsnip & ricotta cheese accompanied with black garlic & pecorino chips, this dish did not disappoint! Unique & fresh,... absolutely delicious! My date had the Bison Bone-In Short Ribs. The ribs, which literally just fell off the bone as they were cooked perfectly, sat above a yummy, pumpkin polenta. Short Rib Jus (gravy) was drizzled on top and fresh pomegranate seeds were sprinkled throughout. Acorn squash chips also accompanied the dish, to give the perfect fall menu item. For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Mousse. Bananas foster surrounded the generous portion of chocolate mousse, topped with coffee walnut gelato. Dehydrated marshmallows (probably the coolest thing ever), topped the dessert throughout. This item was a stand out for both of us. We couldn't stop talking about what an incredible combination this dessert was, not only in flavor, but fun to eat! The staff was incredible throughout our entire visit. We had reservations, which we suggest you do too, as this restaurant gets BUSY! Absolutely an unbelievable meal! 5-STARS!

A Masterclass in Modern American Fine Dining…read more My recent dinner at Atria in downtown Flagstaff was, quite simply, an exceptional experience from start to finish. Chef Rochelle Daniel has created a space that perfectly balances upscale elegance with a warm, inviting atmosphere, making it a true standout in the region. We started the evening with their incredible oyster selection. The oysters with the cucumber granita were a masterclass in refreshing, clean flavors--a perfect, bright start to the meal. We also indulged in the oysters with caviar beurre blanc, which provided a stunning, decadent contrast; the richness of the beurre blanc paired with the briny pop of caviar was unforgettable. Another standout from the starters was the foie gras cornets--delicate, playful, and incredibly rich, they were a brilliant opening note for the palate. The beet salad was another highlight. Far from a simple starter, the charcoal-roasted preparation brought out a beautiful depth and earthiness, elevated by the perfect balance of creamy textures and crunchy toppings. For the main, the duck entrée was flawless. The skin was perfectly rendered, and the meat was incredibly tender, showcasing the kitchen's technical prowess. To complement the meal, we enjoyed a bottle of Michael David Inkblot Cabernet Franc. It was a fantastic choice--bold and velvety with those classic notes of dark fruit and a hint of spice that held up beautifully against the richness of the duck and the earthiness of the beets. What truly elevated the presentation was the stunning pottery. Every dish was served on beautiful, locally crafted ceramic pieces that added a tactile, artisanal feel to the table. It's a thoughtful detail that grounds the high-end cuisine in the spirit of Northern Arizona. We finished the evening on a high note with a round of perfectly pulled espressos and the coconut macaroons. The macaroons were the ideal final bite--crispy on the outside, wonderfully chewy on the inside, and just the right amount of sweetness to round out the experience. From the thoughtful presentation of every plate to the impeccable, knowledgeable service, everything about the evening felt intentional and memorable. Atria is not just a meal; it is a culinary experience that showcases the very best of Northern Arizona's ingredients. It is a must-visit.

An abomination of a sidecar, not quite straight orange liqueur. Could barely finish my 20+$ drink. Bread was VERY crusty. Not fluffy, and coated in oil. Other than that the food was good. We picked this place because it was supposed to be the best in Flagstaff. We enjoyed it, service was good, the place itself is amazing. The bathroom smell was delicious but too potent. I loved being able to see the exposed kitchen area in the back!

There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor area is especially impressive. They have what looked like a private dining space inside a barn-style shed, several gas fire pits, and even a slightly elevated platform that looked perfect for live music. Ordering is simple -- you place both food and drink orders at the counter, then they bring everything out to your table. Even though the place was busy, the food came out fast and piping hot. The food itself was outstanding. I ordered the chicken and biscuits and my wife got the chilaquiles. Both portions were huge. The chicken and biscuits were exactly what I was hoping for: smothered in rich country gravy with a perfectly fried flattened chicken breast that was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The buttermilk biscuit was golden, flaky, buttery, and had the perfect balance of soft interior and crisp edges. I honestly got full halfway through my plate and never even got a chance to try the wife's chilaquiles. The drip coffee was excellent too -- simple, hot, and exactly what good breakfast coffee should be. There's street parking along with a small parking lot across the street. Easily one of the best breakfast spots we've been to.

We had placed our orders inside and were sent away with a number on a stand for our table. The gal that waited on us was very patient and uber-friendly taking our orders - luckily there was no one behind us and she took the time to answer all of our questions. I feel like we'd only been seated just a hot second when the food arrived! Fabulous service - quick and friendly and always with a smile. Hubby and I each got a cup of fresh brewed coffee that did not disappoint! Not too weak, not too strong... brewed to perfection! My husband ordered the chicken and biscuit and I the chilaquiles Christmas style. Lord have mercy both of these dishes were the bomb! Not only plenty of food but super tasty - I had my chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and they also came with about 1/2 a freshly sliced avocado. Nice, tangy flavor and sprinkled with just the right amount of cotija cheese! Shared with the table and still had leftovers (and I'm not mad about it). Husband's dish was perfection - the perfect biscuit combo - fluffy, chewy and crunchy in all the right places, and the gravy not overly seasoned or salty. Chicken was a breaded/fried (possibly baked) and cooked/seasoned just right. Inner meat was tender and moist and outside of course was crunchy - batter was well seasoned and breast didn't seem greasy at all. I worked in a mom-and-pop coffee shop decades ago - everything was homemade and fresh and the coffee 2 die 4. This establishment brought me back to those times in regard to coffee/food quality and hospitality! Will 100p be returning when next we're in town!
