This little gem was a great find. The BBQ was delicious. They didn't have any chicken or ribs, so we tried the pulled pork...true NC style. It's carry out only, but they do have some picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy your food. Unfortunately, there were about a million flies which was not ideal. So, we took it back to our beach house and enjoyed it immensely. The pulled pork platter came with two sides and cornbread. My husband and I both tried the baked beans and coleslaw, and both were delicious. I don't really care for cornbread, but this stuff was pretty good. Nice and moist. Highly recommend this place to anyone, but make sure you pick it up and bring it home. read more

oh boy - this is what vacation is all about! Some friends of a friend recommended this place and i'm going to give them a hug and a beer the next time I see them. The pulled pork is about as good as it gets. Eat it straight out of the cup or with anything. You can't lose. The ribs are tender and meaty with a very nice dry rub. And good heavens, there is also corn bread. We've been eating Duck Deli BBQ for years and I still think it's pretty solid but this BBQ is fantastic. Delicious BBQ!!! You know it's good when you pull up and it looks like a classic BBQ place. We were NOT disappointed. I got the BBQ pulled pork plate and asked for coleslaw, baked beans and a bun on the side. The pork was so tender and well smoked, that you didn't even need any sauce on it. Although, the sauce was terrific. The baked beans, to my liking, were not overly sweet or saucy. They let the little sauce and beans do their jobs! The coleslaw was classic with not too much dressing. All in all the food was great and the pricing was spot on. I will come back here soon! read more

I don't understand the great reviews. The place is really cute, in a little historic block of town. But the food was mediocre at best. The ribs were so dry, it tasted like we got yesterday's leftovers. The pork sandwich was better, but just wasn't impressed all that much. Best NC style barbecue I have ever had. I have waited for over an hour to enjoy it. Come early on weekends in the summer, because they will sell out. So awesome, we made it a part of our wedding week menu. The ribs are also my dad's favorite and the corn bread hits the spot. This is easily the best BBQ I've had on the Outer Banks. I can't say much for the atmosphere: it's outside, on the edge of the parking lot of Twiddy's, a 4x4-rental and realty outfit. The lady at Currituck Beach Light, who directed us here, warned us to eat in our car, and she was right: the flies will descend upon you if you try to eat outside. The pulled pork is very tender and has a full, round, meaty taste. Stephen R. is correct that the meat is not all that smoky, but that's the way I prefer it. It certainly isn't bland. The NC-style sauce is vinegary with a touch of sugar and tomato. Also, the baked beans are fabulous; they are slightly sweet and include lima beans and bacon, as well as the usual pinto or navy beans (?). Portions are generous, but not too big for me to finish in one sitting. We liked the food so much that we ended up driving 25 minutes each way from Duck, past other BBQ places, so that we could get a second dose of their pulled pork before we left the Banks. We bought a quart of it ($15.50) along with a pint of baked beans ($3) and brought it back to our condo to eat on the porch. Totally worth the drive. read more

Finally! I've been looking for take-the-fam worthy barbeque in the Outer Banks and found Corolla Village Barbeque only after a local shop-owner told me it's the "only real Carolina barbeque in Corolla." Well thank you, kind sir! CVB is as simple as it is fantastic! This place is tucked off the main road and serving up the good stuff - Carolina style! I went for the pulled pork sandwich (with extra sauce), baked beans, coleslaw, and a slice of cornbread. I probably didn't need the extra sauce; living in the south taught me to always order more sauce. The pork alone was fresh, juicy, and smoky, and the beans held the same taste but with a surprising sweetness. And coleslaw and cornbread is a must whenever you're eating BBQ, right? Before I was all done, I had the beans and the 'slaw on top of the pork! Service was what I expected from a neighborhood BBQ joint: prompt, friendly, and quick to offer recommendations. Personally, I enjoyed eating my platter at the nearby picnic table, but I bet you could order out. Maybe next time I'll take a quart of BBQ to go and head for the beach! read more

Very unassuming little BBQ hut provided me with some fantastic ribs and chicken. Enjoyed both their hot sauce an NC style vinegar based BBQ sauce. Chicken was moist and ribs fell off the bone. The owner bent over backwards to accommodate all her guests. Only down side was the aggressive flies that swarmed the picnic tables.. The only thing I regret about Corolla Village BBQ is that I didn't find it until my last day on the island. Chicken was excellent. Pulled pork was fantastic. And to top it all off, the sauce and the beans are killer - two areas where too many BBQ restaurants cut corners. As we were leaving the next morning, we bought a bottle of sauce on spec. When I bit into my sandwich I knew we had picked a winner. As a side, beans are often an afterthought, but these have clearly been given proper consideration. Super yummy!!! My husband and i don't normally eat out,but while on vacation we try to find the best local places to splurge on our diets:). We ate a corolla bbq 3 times during our week long beach trip!! We each got the pulled pork,baked beans,and coleslaw,i also tried the yams. The plates also come with the best,moist yummy cornbread that tastes more like cake,sooo good!! My husband doesn't like lima beans so he picked them out of his baked beans but i thought it was delicious with the lima beans! The pulled pork has so much flavor esp with the yummy sweet bbq sauce poured on it! The coleslaw was very good,not too heavy or too much mayo,just right!! The yams were yummy as well!!! I highly recommend this place if your gojng to be in the area,and even if your not i would recommend a drive to try this place!! We normally vacation in nags head and if we ha i still would've driven from their to corolla to have their bbq:) great job corolla bbq!!!!!! P.s def a takeout place,it is very small and in a beautiful but wooded area so the flys would go after your food right away! Yelp finally steered us wrong with this one. We got the chicken and rib combo with baked beans, mac salad and corn bread. Both the ribs and chicken were so over-cooked they were almost inedible. The beans and corn bread were okay and the mac salad was tasteless. Being from out-of-state we wanted to experience NC BBQ but were so disappointed. They have very good pulled pork and chicken at CVB. Unfortunately they are very weak on customer service. They run out of food which is annoying but acceptable, especially in low season when we visited. But I don't understand how you can have whole chickens but not the ability to serve a 1/4 chicken platter. Just quarter the chicken and serve it. Or, at the very least, if you are that ill prepared to serve your customers make some concessions and throw in a side or two when they agree to buy a whole chicken when what they wanted was a chicken platter. Again, they pulled pork is the real deal smoky and delicious. I would like to go back and try the ribs but I don't know if it's really worth the annoyance. read more

Food was ok. It wasn't awful, but wasn't the best. The service made me feel a little rushed and uncomfortable. Kind of rude attitude as well when I had asked a question on the meal I was ordering. The food took a long time to come out and the people that were in front of me when ordering got their food 15 min before mine when I only ordered a small small meal. The ribs were very dry. Chicken lacked flavor. Beans and corn bread were very good. BIGGEST PROBLEM was the FLIES, need to do more to control them, they make traps and other things to help. I just don't like flies never mind dozens of them landing on my food none stop. read more

Really good! Absolutely delicious cornbread. Loved the baked beans and yams too. I can understand the criticism by others on the lack of smoke flavor of the pork, but I enjoyed the sauce so much it made up for it. The hubby got a large pork platter and was provided the same container of sauce (I had gotten a small), so definitely remember to ask for more sauce if you get your order to go. Hmmm...customer service could be a bit MORE friendlier! The kid at the window seemed a bit impatient as we scanned over their menu. But I would've thought he was used to a lot of tourist/visitors to come through. anyhow, we wanted to sit outside to eat the BBQ but of course, the flies lingered in the seating area. The pulled pork was tasty with the tangy vinegar BBQ sauce. The baked beans were deleesh! The potato salad and corn bread I could have done without. I think I would try another BBQ on our next trip. We stopped here while visiting the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and are happy we did. Food was good and the prices not too expensive. The building itself resembles a shack, but like your typical hole in the wall dives the food was delicious. My daughter who rarely eats meat had ordered a chicken breast and wound up eating both her food and mine. There isn't indoor seating so you have to deal with flies but my daughter said this is one time that she didn't mind having to deal with flies... the food is that awesome! Stopped here for lunch per recommendation from our hotel! such a perfect little gem, just a little shack pushing out some delicious traditional North Carolina BBQ. they do run out of food around 4pm or so but hey that's the price you pay for great authentic BBQ. pork and Mac and cheese way too good! They also now offer burnt tips as a meat platter, and they were toooo good! Crispy but no where near dry and boring! So glad we were able to stop before they close for the season! read more

Great Carolina BBQ in an area that tends to be mostly tourist traps. The sauce is western style (even if it's in the east), don't know if they do whole hog or shoulders. I do know that the pork BBQ is damn good eats. read more

Kind of a odd little place but the BBQ is very good. Most of us had the pulled pork and it was awesome. My son had the ribs and he liked them a lot. The sauce is also very good. We had planned on eating there at the picnic tables, but there were chickens cruising around and they wouldn't leave us alone. One even pecked my 5 year old.
